Okay, so originally from Taiwan. And moved here as an exchange student. It was supposed to just be like a one-year thing. And somehow, the craziest thing, it's like,

I end up with- You met Willie Robertson.

Yes, I ended up with, matched with the Robertson family, which I came from Taipei, which is a super big city. And when I first saw that match with the family in Louisiana, I've never even heard of Louisiana in my life before. Like, I obviously know America, but we've only known, like, New York or California. And so, anyway, it's a crazy story how I end up being matched with the family, and it's definitely a God's thing. But then I came over here and, you know, I've never seen anyone. Actually, I don't know if I've ever seen anyone with a big beer before in my life. And I remember they telling me, like, you know, when I first got matched with the family, they sent a little information of the family, which the paper they sent was very deceiving because Willie didn't have a beer in that picture. And it was like clean cut with like, oh, they said the old picture. Yeah, it was in their backyard at the old house, you know, and on the little, like, what's it called?

What year was this? You came.

Like, the little swing thing. What is this thing called?

Like, a swing? No, but, like, a hammock. A hammock, a hammock. Oh, okay.

There was, like, the hammock in the backyard, and he was, like, had long hair, like, longish hair, but no beard. And, you know, all the kids, sweetest little kid, And I've never seen, actually, this is, I don't think you should, like, run this.

year and uh but yeah so that was she did a whole presentation or yeah do you not remember you had to get up and tell our whole class about how much harder homework was in taiwan oh yeah then it

It was so funny because I went into school and, you know, obviously I couldn't speak English, barely.

They told me she did.

Which I was very, like, I was like the top of my class in Taiwan. It just, I mean, it's different though. Like, we learn British English, I think.

I think. And it's the accent. I couldn't understand. I could never understand Mike Kelly as church.

He'd get in them nostrils, so I get it.

And any church service, I could not understand him. That's wild. Yeah. And I have to read the lips. You were really? But also, everyone has big beards, so I couldn't see their lips. I feel like that was one of the problems. It really was.

story with me and uncle si when i first came and this cat sitting on his porch smoking cigarettes

And one night you came in and I guess like you didn't get the memo. that it was canceled or whatever and you just was sitting in there in the kitchen on the table and just kind of like waiting on everybody but nobody was coming and it was just me and Sadie at the house I don't know why I can't remember what happened but we just start hearing somebody yelling and doing like all the shouts like Owen like ah Jack oh the things and i was like sadie what is that and she was like i don't know and so we're like peeking through like we're like trying to see and then we're like saw you sitting there and i was like sadie who is that and she was like i don't know we should call 9-1-1 and it was you and i cannot believe sadie like she was like i don't i don't know who that is we need to call 9-1-1 said he was young and we were hiding in the room we were so scared oh crazy because you were playing

poker by yourself oh i had seven hands dealt out i know you were like playing all by yourself talking to yeah no no i had seven hands dealt out and i'd look at him and say are you gonna bet are you gonna fall or what are you gonna do you were yelling at uh air like I was getting up out of every chair going around for the whole table the whole time I was doing that.

And remember we have a dress code, but I was able to kind of get away with a dress code because you can wear leggings and then you can wear, like, a skirt or something over it, you know. But then Abra Combi started carrying all the leggings, and then that's whenever, like, you know. But I was before Abra Combi had leggings.

What was that stuff you used to make in the microwave that was, like, some kind of tea or something, had the little balls? Oh, yeah. You always.

she she made herself some bizarre snack y'all remember i gained 40 pounds we were waiting that minute to bring that up that's actually i know there's a few stories you like to tell about my eating habits.

It did. It did. I mean, it changed a lot of people's lives. But I mean, I would just have to say, like, coming here, like, I don't know if y'all understand, like, McDonald's is like a luxury in Asia. Like, because it's like American and like people, you know, it's like we go to McDonald's after church. It's like a cool thing. And we have like, the McDonald's there are super nice. It's two-story, you have like the playhouse and like-

Yes, like- I gotta go to Taiwan. No, it's like, yeah, no, it's like super cool. Like, you know, and it has like the playground, like the actual really cool playground. And like the toys are amazing. Like we used to collect all the toys and they're all like-

Oh, good, I thought you were gonna say you built them.

i can't say that just did but so you know coming here i was you know wow there's mcdonald's everywhere so you passed four on the way to school i do yeah and there's one right by school and we get to check out early at on friday or something for senior and she went straight to mcdonald's

Did you gain 40 pounds?

Yes, 40 pounds. Well, you weighed 80. I was little, and I was shorter, too. So, like, think about, like, I mean, I wouldn't say I was huge, but I was, like, probably 5'2 at a time, and then I was, like, 140 pounds. So that's, like, big for me.

Like, what size shoe you wear?

What?

No, no. Why is that shoes? That got a what from everybody. Except for me, I said, uh-oh.

I wear six, like six, six and a half. So I do have small feet.

And it's a small six.

Yeah, like I have like small feet, but I did gain a lot of weight after moving here. And it was all the food. And I would eat like donuts, cinnamon toast.

cinnamon toast crunch is good

and like Corey used to make those like you know just like the toast actually toast and she'll make like a whole platter of it and then like that's what we eat for breakfast

yeah Corey was really good at almost burning something

that was her specialty

not to mention you moved in with the unhealthiest people in the world

she's the only woman I know that burns water

but hey you know but look where we are now I mean everyone seems healthy now But, you know, but when I first moved here, we did not eat healthy.

So, hey, everyone seems healthy now. That tends to happiness. The income increases.

How many is in your family, Rebecca?

So in Taiwan, I came from a family of four siblings. So I was the youngest. I was the baby in the family. I have a brother, two sisters, and me. and then boom come to America and you're the oldest and I feel like John Marie always said this is like kind of a good thing because I'm glad I wasn't the baby just like my whole life because you know I had to learn a lot being the oldest and kind of learn you know to kind of

you know how to take care of Willie's children because he got a foreign exchange cousin and he

said perfect well you know it's funny because you know it feel like I was but then I feel like I was I coming came coming in even though I was older I felt like I was almost like a toddler coming in because everything was so new to me so like it wasn't like they had to raise me over again like I remember even with Sadie she was in second grade when I first came and you know at night Corey would read books to us and I would like read the same books with them like I mean that's like like i'm learning the same way how sadie's learning and bella taught me a bunch words and she was two and like i remember i would say panties for underwear because that's how i talk because like that's how i learned from like little kids you know i still say panties yeah but you know just like stuff like i taught a guy kind of learned from the same way you know how like kind of went back to a toddler again or not taller but like maybe like interesting to think about i mean yeah i would be live my life again because i didn't know i have to learn everything i didn't

So, good. But, I mean, like, we're regular, I guess, like, I would say middle to higher class. Okay, there you go. Well, I came from the city. My dad actually was a doctor.

But he passed away when I was little. So, like, when I was 12. So, that was actually one of my decisions to come as an exchange student. So, then my mom kind of had, you know, had to race off. her kids you know but by the time i was 12 and my dad passed away my siblings were older too you know and so you know so she didn't have a lot like you know my brother and sister were already like graduating college and all the thing you know but they were it's crazy but they were in australia so my family lived in a lot of different places you say australia my my brother and sister both

live in australia did you not know this about me when you think about that that's so wild she came to america your brother's sister was in australia he's about to get crazy did you talk trash to him after the soccer game the other night i know i feel bad but i don't y'all y'all are on it i haven't seen it y'all are in australia adventurous america australia yeah okay text him

about it well your whole family is pretty adventurous yes like so everyone always asks like how my mom is okay with me being away and like being you know so far away but growing up that's like the norm like we grew up like I was born in America in Oregon Portland and my sister was born in Brazil and my other sister and brother were born in Australia so we all were born different places and all held like different citizenship and oh was that strategic it's not it just happened

and that was one of the reasons what happened well i thought you said asians were good at math your mom couldn't count to 10 like 10 months and this thing's coming well because my dad's job you know he was a doctor oh what kind of doctor was he is that the reason y'all travel

So we would move, yeah, so he would go to different hospital and train and do like surgeries, yeah.

Now it makes sense. Cardiologist or something, like something important? I mean, they're all important, but I'm saying, when you're training people, that's your like cardiology.

Something with like neurology, that's what I was about to say, like that kind of stuff. Yeah, he was very smart, very smart. And he came from China, he came from China.

He rubbed off, so are you.

But right now, our focus is we, me and my husband, just finished developing this building downtown. And we, that's kind of our dream to just have like being in development and doing things and so we developed this renovate this like historical building downtown and now i have a store that is inside of that building and we're hoping to kind of make leasing out different retail spaces and have like airbnb kind of doing different things but yeah oh yeah that's the place i got the possum yes yes yeah y'all been there but it's it looks so different now so but yeah

that's kind of what i need to come down there again to see it yeah since it's been upgraded

And so that's kind of what- You know, I felt like the past few years we've been kind of, we had, we bought the building eight years ago and then things happen, kids and COVID and all the things. So finally, now we're like back at it. But I used to have another store called Duck and Dressing, if y'all remember, which is featured on the original Duck Dynasty. Yes. It was. And, but we closed like right around that time when we bought the building. So now this is like our back at business kind of development.

Fun fact, I've packed orders for duck and dressing.

When it's all hands on deck around here, man. I've shipped out duck and dressing orders.

Oh, my God. And then the warehouse, yeah. I know.

Oh, yeah, fun fact. I only know about duck and dressing bags. They were the biggest deal in all of this town for a while. If you shop there, you got a really good bag.

And it's made out of recycling water bottle.

Yeah, we just got fancy bags at the Honey Hole. And literally to this day, people are like, oh, it's kind of like that old duck and dressing bag.

I do have a really cool bag again. Oh, at the new store. Yeah. It's even cooler. I think people, yeah. She's into bags.

but then after we graduated high school you went to LSU I did can you believe it shock that even more yeah you came here to Church of Christ school in North Louisiana and then you went to LSU

I know people always think like it's like part I mean I think it's like who you hang out with you know and I was very much in like you know I was in fashion design so I got into all that so I stay in the studio all the time and so you know it's kind of like you know i don't really do much like i felt like i was kind of like just you know into like you're a hustler she stayed in the

studio ate her filet of fish my own business never went to chimes never i don't even know

what that is i know chimes is not even like chimes right next like remember i i still haven't left west monroe you've never been to chimes i don't even know what we're talking about like a wind

chimes it's a restaurant it's like very uh a restaurant chimes right outside of campus

they have like really good bloody mary on sundays oh i went to ulm that's generally post and they gotta have mr and mrs t's and have like good cheese fries or something yeah

you slide in there about 10 a.m after a night in death valley and try to shake that off

that's why i i continue to gain weight when i was in like down in baton rouge so is our food here

just that much more unhealthy or do we just give you way more that's another thing i was gonna say

so it's the portion i think there's two things the portion and people don't walk like in asia i'm just saying okay when you she just called us lazy gang no no no it's the no she called us spread out so if you they're all tight if you go to cities or any kind of places you don't like you walk to a restaurant and then afterward you have to like walk back or like take the subway or do things so you're standing up you're not just like sitting down so like you usually digest better but then like here like you just get back to eat and get back in the car and then get
