They met at a bar at an after work function. Cat asked for the number, and they set up a date post haste. Cat thought it went well, and wants to see Graham again, but where has he disappeared to? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

for your fave second date update why are you getting ghosted that's the question we ask and we try to get to the bottom of it say good morning to cat cat are you there um i am here yes tell us

00:01:43 - 00:01:48 | Speaker 5:

about graham how did you guys meet first of all and then let's run through the first date okay uh

00:01:48 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 4:

well we did it's kind of weird because we're probably the last two people in the world that actually met in real life do tell on an app or anything you know what i've heard stories but tell us about irl i met my husband at a bar yeah but you're like a hundred shut your mouth oh good well okay we i actually it was at a bar but i was with um some co-workers around bar like just like after work you know on a friday night and um one of my co-workers ran into him their neighbors okay I liked him I thought like he was into me I had some liquid courage so I thought okay I'm gonna ask for his number whatever yo um we I like it I hit on my husband nice see right it can work it can work like I feel like it doesn't take away from like the courting of everything you know he I still had to have like I reached out to him the first time but like we were texting him for a week and then he asked me out and we went to this like really swanky like upscale Italian restaurant in San Francisco um I thought we had a good time we laughed I get like we talked about friends like his neighbors who are my co-workers you know everything but Halloween you know what I mean um but the date ended with a hug not a kiss but like that's fine I just I really thought that like i would see him again i i texted him the next day just to say like thank you you know and he didn't he didn't even respond but like a day later like a good 24 hours later he just liked the message you know how you could do that sure that's weird but like he didn't actually respond okay and it also took him like a full 24 hours so like i don't know what changed I don't know what's going on even like I thought we had a good time well that's

00:03:43 - 00:03:51 | Speaker 5:

what we do here yeah let's um I'll tell you what take a deep breath we're gonna play a song and then we'll just call him okay

00:03:51 - 00:03:54 | Speaker 1:

alright we're gonna

00:03:54 - 00:04:31 | Speaker 5:

call Graham and try you know what we'll try to either get you a second date or get to the bottom of it or both hang on the line we'll be right back it's a second date update star 1013 more variety from the 2000s the 90s end today it's star 1013 it's marcus and cory we're doing second date update we've been chatting with cat who just sounds lovely yeah i think she's on mute are you still there there she is so this guy graham you actually asked him out after meeting in a bar gangster move i love that that's what i did and we've been married for 15 years i got that wrong you asked him for his number

00:04:31 - 00:04:43 | Speaker 4:

and then he asked you out okay we're back yeah but i mean but but like i i made the first you made the moves is the moral of the story respect and then the first date apparently went fine

00:04:43 - 00:04:55 | Speaker 5:

but he did something weird uh correct me if i'm wrong you sent him a message like i had a great time he just liked it it took him like a day sucks yeah i feel like that's the weird the

00:04:55 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 4:

weirdest part is that it took 24 hours for him not even to respond but just to

00:05:00 - 00:05:03 | Speaker 1:

like my message. It feels like a blow-off. I was, like, polite.

00:05:03 - 00:05:04 | Speaker 2:

Okay.

00:05:04 - 00:05:06 | Speaker 1:

Right, but, like, I just want to know why.

00:05:06 - 00:05:12 | Speaker 2:

Well, let's call him and ask him, okay? Well, go ahead and mute your phone. Okay. Let's give him a shout. Hang on one sec.

00:05:19 - 00:05:19 | Speaker 3:

Hello?

00:05:19 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 5:

Hi, may I speak with Graham, please?

00:05:22 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, this is Graham. Who's this?

00:05:23 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 5:

Hi, Graham. It is Marcus and Corey from Star 101.3.

00:05:27 - 00:05:28 | Speaker 2:

What's up, Graham?

00:05:29 - 00:05:30 | Speaker 3:

What can I do for you?

00:05:30 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 5:

Well, we're...

00:05:31 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 2:

That is the sound of a huge listener to our show.

00:05:33 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 5:

Well, it's a very polite person, because I can tell.

00:05:36 - 00:05:41 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know what? At least he's being cool about it. He's very polite. I'm assuming you don't listen to our show, Graham.

00:05:42 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 3:

I'm going to be honest. I don't, but I hope that's okay. Did I win something?

00:05:47 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 5:

Not if you don't listen.

00:05:49 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 2:

No.

00:05:50 - 00:05:50 | Unknown:

Okay.

00:05:51 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 2:

Are you okay to talk to us on the air for a sec? It's a dating... It's okay. Was that a yes?

00:05:59 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. So it's a dating segment we do where we follow up on someone's first date.

00:06:04 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 2:

Would love to ask you about a date you just had. Her name was Kat. She would like to go out again. And she's feeling like you've tapped out.

00:06:15 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 5:

Yeah.

00:06:16 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 2:

So where are we at? What can you tell us about the first date?

00:06:22 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 3:

All right. What the heck? You know, she's great. We met out at a bar through mutual friends, and everything went really well. We went out to a date. It was a nice place, nice restaurant, good dinner. We had some wine. I don't know. To be honest with you, like, I was trying to make a human connection, and she was constantly on her cell phone. She's either on Instagram or TikTok. She's showing me funny videos, and we got some laughs out of it. Like, I did enjoy watching a video or two, But I'm not really a fan of people that are just, like, addicted to their screens. And so I think we're not a good match. I guess I was pretty over it, to be honest.

00:07:04 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 5:

That's, to me, I think, especially when you're trying to get to know somebody, you've got to put that phone away.

00:07:10 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 3:

That's what I'm saying. I don't know why she thinks that's, like, good date behavior. But in my world, I mean, she's so sweet. Like, she's a really good girl. But it's just that doesn't fly.

00:07:22 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 2:

let's um let's ask her here's the thing she's on the phone right now phone gram not to pull a rope

00:07:29 - 00:07:49 | Speaker 1:

a dope sorry she she can't hear what we're saying hey cat are you there uh yeah i'm here um and i can hear what you're saying i did hear and i'm just honestly i'm like kind of shocked because i just i we had a really good time we were having fun like we were laughing together like watching

00:07:49 - 00:08:00 | Speaker 3:

videos i was kind of just laughing because that's what you were doing and i was going with the flow and i didn't want to be mean so i i mean that's just not like my vibe on the first date i guess

00:08:00 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 1:

why wouldn't you say that like you could have said hey i i would rather speak than like watch videos together and do something fun like that like i don't know you never know how a

00:08:13 - 00:08:26 | Speaker 3:

confrontation like that's gonna go and i guess i'm a little reticent we don't know each other so I just didn't want to ruffle any feathers. But maybe in hindsight, I should have said that. But it's also something you don't want to say, you know?

00:08:27 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 5:

Dude, you said reticent.

00:08:28 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 2:

I'm going to look that up later.

00:08:30 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 1:

You should have, though. That's the thing. You definitely should have said something because then we could have avoided this whole thing.

00:08:38 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 2:

Okay, things have been said. Can we salvage this, you guys?

00:08:41 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 1:

Can we salvage this?

00:08:43 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 2:

Graham? I don't know. Can we?

00:08:45 - 00:08:49 | Speaker 3:

I don't know. Anybody? I feel like we're just not on the same page.

00:08:50 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 1:

I mean, I don't disagree with that. I feel like I want someone who has, like, the emotional maturity to communicate when they're unhappy or frustrated.

00:09:00 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 5:

Oh, man, it's getting deep now.

00:09:02 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 1:

All right.

00:09:03 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 3:

Hang on, you two. Just to be clear, I want to just make sure that we're clear. We're pairing the person on the phone with the emotional maturity. Okay, got it.

00:09:10 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 2:

Okay, all right. Hang on. Hang on. I mean, you've got to stay present. Totally. You've got to stay in the moment.

00:09:17 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 5:

It's very important.

00:09:17 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 2:
