Wine tasting in Napa, great conversation, effortless chemistry… Garrett really thought he nailed this first date. He says he and Claire spent hours together bouncing between wineries and vibing the entire time. Everything felt natural and easy. Then out of nowhere, Claire disappeared. It's Marcus in the morning. Second date update back again this morning. We've got Garrett on the phone. Garrett, are you there? I'm here. Let's go ahead and get started. So your date with a lady named Claire, this is in Napa, where y'all live, there in the Valley, which is nice. And she has ghosted, as far as we can tell. So let's talk about the date. Like, how did it kind of unfold? I know you guys met online, but how'd the date go?

00:01:09 - 00:01:11 | Speaker 6:

Honestly, I thought it went amazing.

00:01:11 - 00:01:11 | Speaker 5:

Okay.

00:01:11 - 00:01:31 | Speaker 6:

Like, the afternoon was good. We bounced between a couple of different wineries. Conversation flowed. I thought it was fine. I mean, we lost track of time. i undeniably thought that we had chemistry together sure so i don't know it was a little weird to me and honestly i'm kind of confused of why she just disappeared and ghosted me

00:01:31 - 00:02:02 | Speaker 5:

okay so who knows go ahead and meet your phone i'm going to give her a call okay okay hello hi is this claire uh yes it is good morning oh my god did i wake you up i'm so sorry My name is Marcus, and I work at Star 101.3, which is a radio station out of San Francisco. We do a morning show. I don't suppose you listen.

00:02:04 - 00:02:04 | Speaker 2:

No.

00:02:05 - 00:02:20 | Speaker 5:

Okay. So, I got sent your phone number by one of our listeners. His name is Garrett. He's telling me he went on a date with you, and he's feeling ghosted right now. So, I'd like to figure out, speaking plainly, did Garrett do something wrong? Have you just been busy?

00:02:21 - 00:02:31 | Speaker 4:

are you serious can you be on the air right now with me um yeah okay sure awesome oh my god you're

00:02:31 - 00:03:14 | Speaker 2:

so pleasant i love this so uh did you ghost my guy uh yeah i ghosted garrett i'm not gonna lie okay did he do something wrong um to be honest with you he was exhausting Every single question I posed to this man just turned into a TED Talk. Like, he would not stop monologuing. And I would just ask the most basic, casual, like getting to know you, conversational questions. And instead of just, like, a normal answer, it would just become this huge story. It would go for, like, 20 minutes.

00:03:14 - 00:03:15 | Speaker 5:

Can you give me an example?

00:03:17 - 00:03:55 | Speaker 2:

Okay. I asked, like, oh, have you always lived in the Bay Area? Just, you know, getting to know him. And instead he, like, launches into this huge story about how he used to live in L.A. and was trying to become an actor and how close he was to breaking through and all the celebrities he ran into and all his industry contacts and he's, like, casually name-dropping. Like, oh, yeah, I ran into Bob Odenkirk all the time at this coffee shop. And, like, oh, my buddy was on the crew for this Netflix show. Or I ran into this Marvel actor.

00:03:55 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 6:

Hey, can I jump in?

00:03:57 - 00:04:04 | Speaker 5:

Hello? I mean, not technically. Claire, I'm sorry. This would be a good time to tell you that Garrett is actually listening.

00:04:04 - 00:04:05 | Speaker 6:

No.

00:04:06 - 00:04:06 | Speaker 5:

That's kind of the whole.

00:04:06 - 00:04:15 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, I'm listening. Claire, you ghosted me. And I do want to say that networking in the industry totally matters, by the way.

00:04:15 - 00:04:33 | Speaker 2:

Oh, my God. This is exactly what I'm talking about. Like, every topic is a huge monologue. I don't know if this man asked me two questions about me. I had no interest in getting to know me. It was just his A&E biography.

00:04:34 - 00:04:35 | Speaker 5:

I see.

00:04:35 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 6:

Well, I am really sorry. Like, I thought we were getting to know each other, honestly. I mean, I thought, yeah, you asked me questions, so I tell you about myself. i thought you were into it did you get to know me at all yeah you just didn't talk very much like i'd ask you and then you would have like one line answers and you wouldn't really and then you would ask me so you asked me about cooking and i told you that like i was the line

00:05:00 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 5:

for years and it's true the kitchen changes you once you're hooked into it you never really leave it and then there's this darkness like i don't know how to really explain a back to house

00:05:10 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 4:

cultural garrett garrett we have to stay on tap we're trying to get you a date not try to talk your way out of a date is that what's happening here i mean sometimes she asked me about she did

00:05:23 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 5:

ask me about cooking so cooking is a lifestyle really what did you learn about her give me like three facts about her yeah she lives in napa her name's claire and we went on a date together oh my

00:05:37 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 4:

god oh my god dude you are burying yourself right now you're absolutely burying yourself

00:05:44 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 7:

what do i do for a living what is my job can you answer that you're you are a beautiful woman i know that dude what i spent an evening with this person and he can't answer one question

00:06:06 - 00:06:13 | Speaker 6:

about me why would i want to go on a second date claire i mean you seemed engaged honestly i was

00:06:13 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 7:

answering your questions you're mistaking politeness for engagement and next time maybe you should try and be a little polite and learn something about the person you're spending time

00:06:23 - 00:06:33 | Speaker 4:

with let me ask you this claire we have some self-awareness now garrett do you see what's happening here i can't believe i got to tell you to ask the lady about herself but like

00:06:33 - 00:06:38 | Speaker 7:

claire would you want to try this again at all i you know i think i learned enough i'm i'm good
