More variety from the 2000s, the 90s, and today it's Star 101.3. It's Marcus and Corey, and it is time once again for a second date update.

00:01:23 - 00:01:33 | Speaker 3:

Oh, why, oh, why is that second date so elusive? I don't know. In your head, the first date was a dream. That's what we're here to figure out.

00:01:33 - 00:01:35 | Speaker 4:

Say good morning to John. John, are you there?

00:01:37 - 00:01:38 | Speaker 6:

Yes, hi. Good morning.

00:01:38 - 00:01:42 | Speaker 4:

Hey. That was a heck of an intro. Thank you.

00:01:42 - 00:01:44 | Speaker 3:

Thank you. I was working on that all day.

00:01:44 - 00:01:47 | Speaker 4:

I keep trying to talk her into a jingle or something, and she's just like,

00:01:47 - 00:01:49 | Speaker 3:

Second date update. Thank you.

00:01:50 - 00:02:07 | Speaker 4:

Way better. What can you tell us, John? Let's talk about Vanessa, this lady that you met online, I believe on Hinge, if I'm not mistaken. Yes. Tell us about the first date. Now, first of all, before we get into that, has she ghosted or what?

00:02:08 - 00:02:25 | Speaker 6:

No, it's not a total ghosting, so it's not like radio silence. So I don't know how to explain it, but I haven't gone on a second date with her, and she's not saying yes to any of those things. And so it's like a slow fade. It's like a fade away, I guess. Not a ghost thing.

00:02:25 - 00:02:27 | Speaker 4:

Like Homer into the bushes. That old meme.

00:02:27 - 00:02:28 | Speaker 6:

Basically, yeah.

00:02:28 - 00:02:36 | Speaker 3:

Or like, I like to think of right back into the cornfield, like Ray Liotta. Sure, if you want to go 90s.

00:02:36 - 00:02:41 | Speaker 4:

Why not? Well, I'll tell you what. Either, both. So tell us about the date. So what's up?

00:02:41 - 00:02:48 | Speaker 6:

Okay, yeah. So like last week, we met in person. We just messaged back and forth on Hinge.

00:02:48 - 00:02:48 | Speaker 4:

Right.

00:02:48 - 00:02:53 | Speaker 6:

Men person, had some margaritas. Can't go wrong with margaritas, right? Well.

00:02:54 - 00:02:54 | Speaker 3:

It depends.

00:02:55 - 00:02:59 | Speaker 6:

Okay. We didn't have too many margaritas. We had, like, within moderation.

00:02:59 - 00:02:59 | Speaker 4:

Okay, good.

00:03:00 - 00:03:22 | Speaker 6:

Margarita moderation, I guess. So I thought she was really cute. She's got, like, this curly brown hair. I'm a sucker for that. Yeah. We got a ton in common. Like, she has two dogs. I have two dogs. So, of course, we showed each other pictures of our dogs. Uh-huh. Yeah, yeah. And I'm a big hiker. And so is she. and she's like, oh yeah, I've hiked all over the bay and she was turning me on to these trails that I had never even

00:03:22 - 00:03:24 | Speaker 3:

heard of. Okay, cool. So I'm like, okay,

00:03:24 - 00:03:41 | Speaker 6:

awesome, like, let's do that. And then I, afterwards, I just like texted her and like, hey, you know, just kind of like feeling it out and nothing really. So it's like, I don't know. I just, I really, something happened between like the date and now and I don't know what that is.

00:03:41 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 3:

Would you like my theory? Oh, wait.

00:03:44 - 00:03:48 | Speaker 4:

Sorry, John, I don't know if you know, but Corey comes up with a theory Every time.

00:03:48 - 00:03:49 | Speaker 6:

Oh, okay.

00:03:49 - 00:03:50 | Speaker 4:

Please continue.

00:03:50 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 3:

Vanessa has dogs.

00:03:52 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 4:

Okay, that's what we heard.

00:03:53 - 00:03:54 | Speaker 3:

She likes hiking.

00:03:55 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 4:

Yes, heard that as well.

00:03:56 - 00:03:59 | Speaker 3:

This reminds me of a specific episode of Dateline.

00:03:59 - 00:03:59 | Speaker 4:

Oh, boy.

00:04:00 - 00:04:05 | Speaker 3:

Pretty young gal takes her dogs for a hike. Don't do it. And is abducted. Oh, God.

00:04:06 - 00:04:07 | Speaker 4:

No.

00:04:07 - 00:04:08 | Speaker 3:

Here's the good news.

00:04:08 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 4:

Not the abduction.

00:04:09 - 00:04:11 | Speaker 3:

They find the dogs.

00:04:12 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 6:

Well, I guess. That's not specific to me, though. I didn't bring up Dateline on the date. That's kind of like there's two rules in our first date.

00:04:21 - 00:04:24 | Speaker 4:

John, you're trying to explain, Corey, that's not possible.

00:04:25 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 3:

I'm just saying it was an episode of Dateline. I just saw it. I watched it a couple times.

00:04:29 - 00:04:32 | Speaker 4:

I'll tell you what, John. Why don't we call and find out for ourselves?

00:04:32 - 00:04:33 | Speaker 6:

That's a great idea. I'd love that.

00:04:34 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 4:

00:06:59 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 1:

vanessa vanessa tell us about the date from your perspective please okay um hi hi john hi hi i guess we're going to do this on the radio um john i had a we had a really nice time okay and at first i was a i thought it was a little weird because you were a little shy but you know after a couple of margaritas i think we opened up a little bit more and you seemed really nice we have a lot in common We talked a lot about the pups and the hikes. I just think that, okay, here's the real thing. You were very nice. At the very end of the day, I remember you said, text me when you get home. And so you knew that I made it safe. I thought that was awesome. So I did. And then later that night, you texted me again, and you asked how my night was going. And honestly, I thought that was meant for another woman, which is totally fine. Like we went on one date. So, you know, I didn't respond in my head. I was like, OK, well, maybe that was for somebody else. Didn't I see you a couple of hours ago? And then the next morning you texted me again, which was nice. But you texted good morning, beautiful. How are you? And while that is sweet, that feels a little bit more intimate than what I expected after one date. And then you asked me how my day was going later that day. And then at night, you asked me just to make sure that I was okay. So then I responded. But honestly, by that point, I was just annoyed.

00:08:37 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 2:

So John's doing too much?

00:08:39 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 1:

That's too many texts. We met once for a few hours. But you were not responding.

00:08:44 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 3:

I wanted to make sure you were okay at a certain point. I'm like, wait a minute, hold on. Let my anxiety take over and be like, wait, she hasn't responded. If you had responded, I wouldn't have kept texting, I don't think.

00:08:55 - 00:08:59 | Speaker 1:

You're putting it on her that if she had gotten back to you, you wouldn't have texted her that much?

00:08:59 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 3:

I responded the next day. Isn't that good communication? Don't women always say, I want somebody who can communicate well? That's the problem in couples. So it's like, I don't know, I'm just trying to follow up and just say hello, I guess. I'm not sure what's wrong with that.

00:09:17 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 1:

But once I responded, then you responded again, like five or six times. I'm not a big texter. I want to hang out in person, the end, but I'm not just going to sit by my phone and text.

00:09:30 - 00:09:35 | Speaker 3:

Okay, look, I'm hearing that. I am a texter. So I'm like, you know, just I thought it was sweet.

00:09:35 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 2:

If a big texter hooks up with a non-texter, does it work out? Like, Vanessa, could we get a second date out of this? Try it again?

00:09:43 - 00:09:55 | Speaker 1:

Honestly, I'm not interested. I appreciate you checking in, I guess, but the whole on the radio thing, and then you text too many times, like, I think my mind is already made up.

00:09:55 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

Hang on, hang on. Doing too much, man. Doing too much.

00:10:00 - 00:10:02 | Speaker 1:

You got to play it cool at the beginning.

00:10:02 - 00:10:26 | Speaker 3:
