Marissa says she had fun with Paul even though he's a bit quirky. He'd be down to see him again, but he's ignoring her. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

More variety from the 2000s and the 90s. And today it's Star 1013. It's Marcus and Corey. It is time for Second Date Update. Let's do this.

00:01:24 - 00:01:38 | Speaker 6:

second date update why can't you get that second date second date update jingle not a song we're here to change your life thank you show tunes you said you wanted a jingle that's that was

00:01:38 - 00:01:53 | Speaker 4:

i got i gave you a jingle it was a broadway production i didn't use jazz hands this is a great time to bring marissa on hi marissa hi how are you i'm doing well okay right oh i have to

00:01:53 - 00:01:59 | Speaker 6:

stop asking that because getting ghosted it's gotta suck you can say how are you besides the

00:01:59 - 00:02:17 | Speaker 4:

ghosting i should do that yeah how are you besides the ghosting marissa other than the ghosting i'm pretty darn good sure okay okay um well tell us about about paul because that's why we're here so how did you guys meet first of all and then and then what'd you guys do on your first date

00:02:17 - 00:02:43 | Speaker 7:

we met on bubble uh we went and had some dinner i he's cute there's maybe some chemistry there he's a little bit has some little quirks he's a little quirky okay um such as but quirky can be charming right well uh apparently paul hates ketchup hates it hates

00:02:43 - 00:02:48 | Speaker 6:

condiments condiments all together can we trust him i don't know to me that's like right up there

00:02:48 - 00:02:54 | Speaker 4:

with a sociopath sure all right well let's let's move past that you had a good time though we did

00:02:54 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 7:

yes i i thought so he was we were texting back and forth he's answering my texts but only friendly not enthusiastic and not moving forward not suggesting that we get together again or accepting any plans.

00:03:13 - 00:03:17 | Speaker 4:

So not a true ghost, but like a hybrid. Where he's like still there, but he's not there.

00:03:17 - 00:03:18 | Speaker 6:

Would you like my theory?

00:03:18 - 00:03:22 | Speaker 4:

Oh, yes. Sorry, Marissa, we have to pause. Corey's daily theory is...

00:03:22 - 00:03:48 | Speaker 6:

Maybe Paul is being held hostage. Like Heinz found out he hates ketchup. So they're holding him until they convince him there's a Heinz for him. Like, perhaps it's Cranch. Maybe it's Mayo Chup. We got the 57, we got Buffer Ranch, Honey Racha. Until he decides on a condiment he can live with, he's stuck. What in the world is mayo chup?

00:03:49 - 00:03:58 | Speaker 5:

Mayo and ketchup. I should have known that. Do you know what cranch is? Tell me. Ketchup and ranch. I could have gone my whole life. Also, I think you have to take antibiotics if you get a case of cranch.

00:03:59 - 00:04:12 | Speaker 4:

No. Are you done yet? Three shows this week. Please tip your server. Comedy, comedy, comedy. Jesus. All right. Sorry, Marissa, back to you. I'm sure glad we paused for that.

00:04:13 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 6:

You wanted to know.

00:04:15 - 00:04:32 | Speaker 4:

Okay. We'll keep it light. We'll call Paul. We'll see what's up. Maybe he's just been busy. Those Heinz people are serious. Right. Still doing that. Yep. Marissa, can you hang on the line? We'll play a song, and then we'll give him a call and see what he thought of the date, okay?

00:04:32 - 00:04:32 | Speaker 6:

Okay.

00:04:33 - 00:04:53 | Speaker 4:

All right. Don't move. It's second date update. Star 101.3. More variety from the 2000s, the 90s, and today it's Star 101.3. It's Marcus and Corey. We are doing second date update right now. We've been chatting with Marissa about her date with Paul. Good date a couple of weeks ago after meeting him on Bumble. Marissa, you said the only strange thing is that he hates ketchup.

00:04:53 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 6:

I mean, it's okay to say you don't like ketchup, but you don't like any condiments.

00:04:58 - 00:05:01 | Speaker 4:

Well, let's call him. Marissa, you're still there, right?

00:05:01 - 00:05:02 | Speaker 1:

I'm here.

00:05:02 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 4:

Okay. Go ahead and mute your phone. We're going to give him a shout. Ultimately, we want to see if we can get you a second date, but let's see what this is all about, okay? Here we go.

00:05:18 - 00:05:19 | Speaker 3:

Hello?

00:05:19 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 2:

Hi, may I speak with Paul, please?

00:05:22 - 00:05:23 | Speaker 3:

This is he.

00:05:23 - 00:05:26 | Speaker 2:

Hi, Paul. It's Marcus and Corey from Star 101.3.

00:05:27 - 00:05:43 | Speaker 4:

Hey, Paul. Hi. Who's this? I'm sorry. Hi. We do a morning radio show here in the Bay Area on the iHeartRadio app. It's 101.3. Wondering if you might have a second to be on the air with us. I can explain. Is that all right?

00:05:45 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 3:

I guess so. A little nervous, but...

00:05:47 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 4:

Sure.

00:05:48 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 2:

Don't be nervous. We're delightful.

00:05:50 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 4:

Yes, we are. So we do a segment called Second Date Update. And we got a call from a lady you've been on a date with recently who would love to go out again. She says she's feeling like you're not moving anything forward. Wondering if you have a second to talk about your date with Marissa. Wanted to see how you felt about it, if you might consider a second date.

00:06:10 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 3:

Marissa? Yes. She was really nice. She's very cool. Okay. And we've been texting. We had a good time.

00:06:19 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 4:

That's what she said, but she's feeling like you're not, there's no forward movement. Right. Is this just, is this her imagination? Or did you want to do a second date?

00:06:28 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 3:

I guess I can't really see us moving long-term because of her dietary habits.

00:06:37 - 00:06:37 | Speaker 2:

Dietary?

00:06:38 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 4:

What do you mean?

00:06:39 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 2:

What are her dietary habits?

00:06:42 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, well, to be frank, she likes to dip her fries in ranch dressing. And literally, I'm almost dry heave having to talk about it. and ketchup. She just loves condiments and I cannot stand them. The smell is just like vinegar and processed oils. It just, it grosses me out beyond no else. So I tried my best to suppress how I was really feeling, but I don't necessarily know if I can handle being around someone that likes condiments way more than I do. This is a thing, huh? Because of condiments? oh yeah like barbecue sauce ranch any any of those sauces i just the smells are just like all i can smell and i can't even focus on the conversation it just grosses me out oh gosh man i love mayo how you feel about mayo oh no oddly enough i like the smell of olive oil but everything

00:07:39 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 2:

else no that is that's really specific i mean i feel like that's a deal breaker for a lot of people I mean, you not liking condiments, that's going to be tough.

00:07:52 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 4:

So, Paul, actually, Marissa is on the phone right now listening.

00:07:56 - 00:07:58 | Speaker 2:

She's probably wishing that Heinz had held him hostage.

00:07:58 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 4:

Yes, I'd love to bring her on, if that's cool. Marissa? Sure. Marissa?

00:08:06 - 00:08:06 | Speaker 1:

Hi.

00:08:06 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 4:

Hey.

00:08:07 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:08:08 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 2:

We got some answers. Yeah, he thinks you're gross. No, I mean your eating habits.

00:08:15 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 1:

You're kidding. Paul?

00:08:17 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 3:

I don't think you are gross. I just think the smell of all the condiments, it just like permeates everything else. And I literally can't focus and disgust me. I've always been like that since I'm a little kid. I can't help it. It's nothing personal. But I don't know if you like condiments way more than I do, if it's really going to work out.

00:08:37 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 4:

Is this for real?

00:08:38 - 00:08:47 | Speaker 2:

I think it is. Some people have really sensitive honkers. My friend Kim, she got a new car, and she gets migraines from new car smell.

00:08:48 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 1:

But no condiments whatsoever. I mean, that's...

00:08:51 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 3:

Well, if you think about it, there's a lot of, like, preservatives in the many ways. I mean, honestly, people would be doing this as a service if they decide not to use them.

00:08:58 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 4:

Okay, is there any hope here? Marissa, you even still want to do this?

00:09:07 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 1:

Paul, I'm sorry. You've got to be like the 0.0000001% of the world who doesn't like condiments. How will you survive?

00:09:17 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 2:

This is very, very blandly.

00:09:19 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 3:

I've been single this long because of that, but looking for someone that doesn't like them like I do.

00:09:25 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 4:

Okay, I'm going to call it. You guys hang on a sec. Marissa, are you there?

00:09:31 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. It's not meant to be.

00:09:33 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 4:

This is arguably the most bizarre thing I've ever heard. we're gonna we're gonna let him go uh sorry we couldn't make it work okay yeah thank you i appreciate the effort that was strange i don't know that he's ever going to find anybody you know what no there's someone for everyone my grandma used to say

00:09:54 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 2:

yeah but he's never gonna know the joy of mayo chop crunch I'm sorry. Second date update, 7.05 weekday mornings. It replays at 9.05, of course.
