Say hi to Raina this morning. Raina, good morning.

00:01:34 - 00:01:35 | Speaker 4:

Good morning.

00:01:35 - 00:01:35 | Speaker 6:

How are you?

00:01:36 - 00:01:37 | Speaker 2:

What's happening?

00:01:37 - 00:01:45 | Speaker 6:

Good, good. I'm excited to be talking to you. So, yeah, what do you want to know? How do I do this? So, welcome.

00:01:45 - 00:01:47 | Speaker 2:

Don't be nervous. Take a deep breath.

00:01:47 - 00:01:47 | Speaker 6:

Okay.

00:01:48 - 00:01:54 | Speaker 2:

I want you to talk about this guy, Kyle. So, tell me how you guys met, and then tell us how the date went,

00:01:54 - 00:02:57 | Speaker 5:

and we'll go from there. Okay. Yeah. Well, I met Kyle on Tinder and, you know, we flirted back and forth on messenger for a few weeks and then we decided to meet up for dinner in Berkeley. Okay. And I mean, it was really good food. We're both vegetarians. So that was a nice fit. And we're also like, happened to be both into yoga and, uh, which is really nice because Kyle was in really great shape um and uh yeah so we're just having small plates you know like tapas and i just thought it was a great time and he gave me a hug at the end of the date and we just i guess you know went our separate ways me thinking he's going to get back in touch uh but he hasn't reached out at all and i thought for sure there was going to be a second date sure so i thought okay maybe i'll just send a couple texts, you know, be cool about it, but no response whatsoever. So the last time

00:02:57 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 2:

you talked to him was the date? The date. Yes. Okay. All right. That's where we come in. Yeah. Cause we're experts. Yeah. We're so good at this. Let's, let's give it a shot. Okay. So we're going to call Kyle and see how the date went from his perspective. And the ultimate goal of course is to get you a second date. All right. I hope so. Yes. So hang out for a song and then we'll do it. okay? It's second date update. Star 101.3. More variety from the 2000s, the 90s, and today. It's a star 101.3. It's Marcus and Corey. We're doing second date update right now. Been chatting with Raina, who's very pleasant. Yes. Hi, Raina. You still there? Hi. Okay, so we're trying to drill down this guy, Kyle. You guys had a pretty good first date. You're both into Yogi, which... Yogi, oh my God. Yeah, you're both into Yogi Bear. No, you're both into Yoga, which is neat, but he's ghosted since the date. So let's call him and figure out what's going on. Can you mute your phone? Yeah, yeah. Okay, here we go.

00:04:00 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 4:

Hello? Hi, may you speak with Kyle, please? That's me. Hi, Kyle. It's Marcus and Corey from Star 1013. Sup, Kyle? Hello. How are you? Good. What can I do for you? Well, we do a morning show at Star 1013, and we do something called Second Date Update, and that's when we talk to somebody about a first date they had that they thought went really well and then they get ghosted we try to contact the person that's doing said ghosting and ask them why and that person happens

00:04:30 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 2:

to be you so we want to ask you about your date with reina basically because she thought it was cool and but she says that you've ghosted her since then and we just want to confirm and then maybe talk about a second date if possible what can you tell us i you know she was very nice you

00:04:48 - 00:04:58 | Speaker 7:

we met on Tinder and everything was going great. I loved her personality. She has a lot of energy. It's infectious. So we kept talking.

00:05:00 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 4:

We went out in Berkeley and went to this excellent vegetarian place. But she kept breaking eye contact and looking around the room. And I noticed she kept looking at the bar. And there was only maybe three people at the bar, a couple and someone else. And I just eventually I kind of got wind. I followed her gaze and I noticed that she was looking at a woman at the bar. And I just said, hey, do you know her or something? Is there trying to get her attention? And she got weird and kind of didn't really know what to say. and she's been talking quite a bit and all of a sudden she got a little stammery and she said it was her friend. So she did know her? No, she called it a safety net.

00:05:42 - 00:05:43 | Speaker 8:

What does that mean?

00:05:43 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, apparently she said if they have dates or something, you know, that one goes just in case the other person turns out to be some sort of serial killer or something like that. I was a little shocked because we had talked and she had seen my picture and there's nothing very intimidating

00:06:00 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 6:

about me. You don't look like a serial killer? That's a plus. Yeah, I don't think so. Most serial killers don't look like serial killers until you find out they're a serial killer. They're mostly really good neighbors. Can we go back to this? So they have a pact. Let me see if I'm getting this right. So she didn't show up by accident. They didn't just butt into each other. They planned for her friend to be at the bar to play. Just in case.

00:06:24 - 00:06:44 | Speaker 4:

yes that was my understanding yes they met well that was what she told me then and then as they met and they spoke and and she told me about her um miriam uh very lovely very nice but she decided they decided to sit and join us and i was that was the end of that on the date

00:06:44 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 8:

the safety net came to sit with you okay hang on hang on so yeah yeah kyle um reyna is actually listening she's on the phone with us reina we have questions why didn't why didn't you tell us

00:06:57 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 3:

about your friend i thought this was pretty common to have you know one of your girlfriends

00:07:03 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 4:

on call in case something goes down or gets weird there have never been second people right there i'm i just had to interject i'm sorry it's not common reina that was very that was very

00:07:15 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 3:

uncomfortable it was unpleasant who am i supposed to know that you are who you actually say you are People get catfished all the time. So, like, if I showed up and you were, like, some, like, set-a-hero man.

00:07:25 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 4:

And if you felt you needed that extreme, then she could have said, you could have told her, yes, everything is going fine. And she would have went along her way instead of sitting down and you two basically drinking the bar dry the rest of the night.

00:07:42 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 8:

Oh. Oh, that part got left out, too.

00:07:45 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 4:

That part got left out, too. I grabbed my popcorn. Hang on. that part out oh no it went from a really nice glass of wine and to all of a sudden she's crying

00:07:56 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 3:

about her ex-boyfriend and miriam okay excuse me excuse me that is not what happened i was not drinking i was not talking about my ex-boyfriend miriam was having a tough time and i didn't know what to do and i i'm her best friend so i have to support her i wasn't been going to kick her out

00:08:15 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 4:

We were no longer on the date. It was suddenly a party.

00:08:19 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 6:

Time out, everybody.

00:08:21 - 00:08:22 | Speaker 7:

I'm calling no second date.

00:08:22 - 00:08:25 | Speaker 6:

I don't think that was necessary for you to say out loud, but yeah.

00:08:26 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 4:

With who? Miriam or?

00:08:29 - 00:08:34 | Speaker 7:

All right, hang on, hang on. That was weird, right? Slightly weird. I understand the safety net concept.

00:08:35 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, but you can do that with a phone call. You just text your friend and say, call me and say, there's an emergency.

00:08:40 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 7:

Drop a pin.

00:08:41 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 5:

Yeah.

00:08:41 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 7:

Something. Anyway, interesting. Okay.

00:08:44 - 00:09:00 | Speaker 1:
