Mojo in the morning. Good to have you with us. Home of the phone. Scams. War of the Roses. Dirty on 30. I want to bring up something that I was just looking through the news on and saw for possible trending news. And then I mentioned it and KP said, you got to do it now because I actually have done exactly this. There's a story that is in the news this morning. And I saw it last night on our local Channel 4 and Channel 2, on Fox 2 and Channel Local 4. Seventh grader from Warren Consolidated Schools by the name of Dylan, a seventh grader from Carter Middle School, is a hero. And they're actually holding a press conference today where they are going to honor him in the school district. and I think that he's going to have some political people probably giving him some accolades for what he did. Listen to this. The 7th grader was on a school bus with his classmates riding home when the bus driver became lightheaded and lost consciousness. Here, I'll let Maura McDonald from Local 4, who tells a story better than anybody. She's very dramatic. She's going to tell you the story. Here you go.

00:04:02 - 00:04:46 | Speaker 4:

The school district letting parents know it was a 7th grade boy who jumped in to save the day when his bus driver lost consciousness here on Masonic near Bunnert. As soon as the district posted on its Facebook page about the situation, it went viral and has been shared thousands of times across social media platforms, including from Macomb County Executive Mark Hackle with, as you can see, shout out to Dylan, Macomb County's local hero. The praise is pouring in tonight and not just from strangers, but from parents of children who are on the bus as well. Warren Consolidated School Superintendent Dr. Robert Livernois saying that boy's actions made all the difference today and the district could not be prouder of him.

00:04:46 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 8:

So the bus driver becomes unconscious and the kid notices this, which is amazing because it's hard to believe he wasn't looking at his phone and not looking up at the bus driver.

00:05:00 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 1:

And he gets up there and he drives, he does, ready for this? He does a Keanu Reeves. I didn't see that movie. You never saw Speed? I didn't.

00:05:10 - 00:05:10 | Unknown:

What?

00:05:10 - 00:05:19 | Speaker 1:

Well, it's because you don't like Keanu Reeves. Are you? As an actor. That's one of the best. Honestly, it's probably Keanu Reeves' besides John Wick best movie.

00:05:19 - 00:05:25 | Speaker 3:

Not the fourth one. First of all, wrong. Bill and Ted. Thank you, Mike. Thank you, Mike. That is the correct answer.

00:05:26 - 00:06:17 | Speaker 1:

Let's talk about this kid first, though. Let's talk about Dylan. Dylan from Carter Middle School. Amazing that he was able to do this and be able to save, you know. First off, this kid better get more than just like a certificate of appreciation. He should get, like, they should name the bus after him or give him a bus. Let him have his own bus. He gets his own. He gets to go home on a bus with no other kids on it. To go home. With a bus driver that doesn't get unconscious. He needs to get something big. That is crazy, though. Somebody needs to tell us, if you know this kid or know the school or whatever, tell us what they're doing for the kid. That he even knew what to do to be able to drive the bus. Well, KP said, KP puts herself into the story saying, I could have done this. Because it's something that you did when you were a young kid, right?

00:06:17 - 00:06:34 | Speaker 2:

Let me be very clear. I was not the hero in this situation. Oh, really? This situation reminds me when I was, I think I was nine. And my mom, our family has a lot of kids. There's five of us at the time. She was hauling all of us in this big, white, creepy van.

00:06:35 - 00:06:38 | Speaker 1:

Okay. Like a 15-passenger van? Yeah, it was huge. Yeah, okay.

00:06:39 - 00:06:48 | Speaker 2:

And the van was parked in our driveway, and my mom was buckling my brother Aaron. Actually, I don't think Aiden was born yet. Aaron was getting buckled in the garage.

00:06:49 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 1:

Can I say real quick before I'm going to stop you?

00:06:51 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:06:52 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 1:

The listeners may not know this. K.P. is the oldest of six kids So she's got a family that's like monster size Alright, go ahead

00:06:59 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, anyway, so my mom was buckling my brother into a car seat Little, you know, just to put it in the car So they weren't in the car yet Yeah I decided that I was going to put our family van in reverse Oh, K.P. Reverse, reverse I was like, oh, that's cool Like in front of the car And then I put the car in reverse And we were on a hill And that car was rolling backwards With kids in it With all of us in it, except my brother Aaron, because my mom was chasing the van down the driveway. And I feel like my mom could better explain this situation.

00:07:31 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 1:

Your mom is on the phone. Mama KP is on with us right now. What's happening?

00:07:35 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 3:

Morning. Morning, morning.

00:07:36 - 00:07:38 | Speaker 1:

Do you remember this like it was yesterday?

00:07:38 - 00:09:08 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my gosh. What a traumatic day that was. Yeah. It was not a creepy van. We had a fantastic Dodge. She's more offended by that. How did it stop, though, eventually? Well, I'll tell you my story. So I think you were eight, Kristen. So KP was eight, and then I had a seven-year-old, five-year-old, and, yeah, I had the baby, 20 months old. I was buckling him up, and I actually, I think I was pregnant with number five at the time. So loading up the clown car, and I had the baby carrier in the garage, buckling him up. The three others were in the van, and I just hear, mama, faint screaming. and i turn around and yeah kp popped it into reverse i leave the baby carrier on the ground and i waddle run my pregnant bunt down the driveway and i keanu reeves speed it uh you know onto the running board open the door no you did not mom it was the guy across the street oh no guy across the street was running we slammed on the brakes i looked behind me the neighbor would there's a woman she was standing in front of her mailbox with her hands out like she's gonna scarlet witch stop it with telekinesis to save her mailbox uh barely you know just barely getting it down that was that was a little traumatic oh my god you need you know what

00:09:08 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 1:

i think kp uh kp your mom deserves to get accolades from uh from the like warren's gonna to do for them? What town was this in? Was this also in Lake Orion where you guys are?

00:09:20 - 00:09:21 | Speaker 3:

No, this is actually in Tampa.

00:09:22 - 00:09:23 | Speaker 1:

Oh, it was in Tampa. All right.

00:09:24 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 3:

I still will accept a press conference and an interview with Mara McDonald.

00:09:28 - 00:09:36 | Speaker 2:

My rear was red for a week. Oh, that was, yeah. The worst bank in a mile.

00:09:36 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 1:

Can I be honest with you, though? Truth on this one, that was the point in KP's life where she was the best driver. That's what I was going to say. What if this kid doesn't passed his driver's test when he turned 16 like I didn't. He was a hero today. A very scary driver, especially now with that big Silverado pickup trick she has. Hold on real quick. Tamika's on with us. You are a bus driver.

00:10:00 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 9:

for the Warren School District? Yes, sir. Tell us, what's the story that they're going to do for this kid? Do they have any big plans?

00:10:09 - 00:10:10 | Speaker 8:

Not that I know of.

00:10:11 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 9:

Oh, well, then, okay.

00:10:12 - 00:10:17 | Speaker 2:

He needs, like, a key to the city, something Mojo has wanted forever. Something big.

00:10:17 - 00:10:25 | Speaker 9:

I'm looking for, like, an actuality of somebody saying something big to us. Question for you. Is the bus driver okay?

00:10:25 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 8:

uh that um all we know is that she passed out and that she's okay and that's all they're giving us okay would do you think i heard the story yeah i'm more mcdonald's yesterday you did do you would

00:10:42 - 00:11:16 | Speaker 9:

do you think that the kids that ride on your bus would be alert enough to know this or would they be in their cell phones not even looking up and paying attention well i drive a special needs bus Oh, okay. Somebody was telling me, a bus driver from one of the other districts was telling me when I went to a school visit that the kids, the big thing now on school buses is the kids miss their stops because they're looking at their phones and they don't realize that they're actually in front of their bus stop. So they have to, like, the bus drivers have to go back and drive them back to their stops or they have to go back to school and their parent has to come pick them up.

00:11:17 - 00:11:25 | Speaker 8:

They never go back to school, but yeah, they have to turn around and go back because they fall asleep too. They fall asleep. Oh, that was me. Yeah. That was me.

00:11:25 - 00:11:28 | Speaker 9:

Yep. All right, Tamika, take care of yourself.

00:11:28 - 00:11:29 | Speaker 8:

Thank you.

00:11:29 - 00:11:36 | Speaker 9:

Goodbye. KP's mom, do the kids ride the bus in your household? Does KP's little brother ride a bus to school? Yeah.

00:11:37 - 00:11:52 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, we've got one driving and then one periodically riding the bus. And I would not put it past him. He would definitely be the one that's sleeping on the back, headphones on. He can walk home if they take him back to school or make a place at the bus depot. That's fine.

00:11:52 - 00:11:56 | Speaker 9:

You know what's funny is that I actually loved riding the bus. Kids nowadays don't want to ride a bus.

00:11:56 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:11:57 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 9:

They want their parents dropping them off.

00:11:58 - 00:12:17 | Speaker 6:

You know, Mama KP is funny because there was a period of my life where I kept missing the bus in the morning because I kept sleeping through the morning. And she got so mad at me that she drove me halfway to school and made me walk the rest of the way. Yeah. It took me three hours to get to school. I was there by lunch. Three hours? Come on. No, Mom, I was there by lunch.

00:12:17 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 7:

I'm not kidding. You're so melodramatic. No!

00:12:20 - 00:12:21 | Speaker 6:

It took me three hours.

00:12:21 - 00:12:21 | Speaker 9:

Is she telling stories?

00:12:21 - 00:12:23 | Speaker 8:

I kind of love this, Mama KP.

00:12:23 - 00:12:24 | Speaker 9:

Yeah.

00:12:24 - 00:12:24 | Speaker 8:

That's a good lesson.

00:12:24 - 00:12:37 | Speaker 9:

Call her out. Do us a favor, will you? When she tells a story on the air that you know is complete bull crap, you have the inside line here. Lydia, you always put KP's mom through because we do that with moms. Moms get first right of refusal.

00:12:37 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 8:

I'm talking more about her parenting style.

00:12:40 - 00:12:44 | Speaker 9:

I like that, though. I like that she calls her out like that. That's good.

00:12:45 - 00:12:48 | Speaker 7:

You're going to have to put me on payroll the amount of times I'm going to call in.

00:12:48 - 00:12:50 | Speaker 9:

Oh, good. Okay. All right. We'll talk to you later.

00:12:51 - 00:13:06 | Speaker 3:
