I was looking at a list of things that you should not leave in your car during the cold weather that we have. and it brought back a memory to me of when uh my son luke started driving and he left two cans of coke in his car and we had one of these cold snaps like we have right now yeah and we were driving in his car and i'm driving down the street it sounded like somebody was freaking shooting us with a gun they they bursted while we were driving and it literally they sounded like gunshots going off it was one of the scariest moments ever but that was actually on the list of things that you shouldn't leave in your car and i don't know if if you're somebody that uh doesn't know any of this stuff i should go through this list i'm gonna read through this list and you tell me what you got in your car they say here are the eight things that you should never leave in your car during sub-zero weather which by the way we're warming up a little bit today we're going back down again this weekend and then that next week there's like mixture snow rain again so it should be a little bit warmer but it's still going to kind of go back and forth between arctic freeze and stuff i saw this morning on uh today show that they said the um the cold streak that we have is the coldest weather that chicago and detroit has seen in 30 years the lions and the cold weather coincidence i don't think so here are the eight things that you should not leave in your car in sub-zero weather and if you have and you have had a problem tell me number one is cell phones they say apple advises against storing cell phones iphones ipads or any kind of electronic devices uh in your car when the weather gets lower than 32 degrees uh the recommendations by the way for samsung phones and other electronics might be a little bit different but they say that because of the lithium ion batteries that are in there they're a vulnerable component to the cold did you see those cars in chicago at the tesla charging station no go google this because you got to see that first off google this because you'll never get an electric car i don't i don't care what you say and listen i bought an electric car i will tell you this horrible in the cold because you you have 300 miles on your car you get in that car just turning your heat on in the car which is a normal function that you should have in your car it burns through 100 miles on that

oh so many were stranded there was like a pile up so there was a pile up at the tesla charging

station yeah because the tesla charging station charger it was too cold to charge there's there's actually a too cold to be to be able to charge a car yes crazy but can't that happen with regular

cars too because i know we don't really do it here as much but i know in some of the other like northern states i'm hoping my geography is right montana that was a guess don't they have those things that you like put on your engine block to keep it warm well you there's the thing though

you can still put gas in your car though right but it won't start no well it might not start because it's cold it's cold or something but you if you're if you're driving down the street and you realize uh-oh i'm almost out and you pull over to a tesla charging station or to a charging station not just tesla and you pull over like you would pull over to gas station you expect that you're going to be able to put something in there to get you home yeah i'm just saying why do they have like heaters on them i don't know well i think i think they're learning yeah i think that there's yeah well and also i think the batteries too i think there's issues with these things uh number two on this list of eight things that you shouldn't keep in your car when it's cold what i talked about pop or soda or even beer you shouldn't put beverages there because it will freeze and then explode number three i never thought of this musical instruments they say musical instruments can warp bend or not be able to play again if they're frozen Number four, eggs. They say that eggs should be, or eggs. Am I mispronouncing? Because I always say, whenever I say eggs, Chelsea says I say it wrong. Eggs? Eggs. Eggs. They say that they shouldn't be frozen in their shells, and they say that if they are frozen in their shells, they'll crack. But also, if they freeze and unfreeze, according to the Department of Agriculture and Food Safety Inspection, They say that it could be bad to cook, that you could get in trouble. Canned food should never keep in your car. This was a big one. Medication. If you leave your medication, you go to the pharmacy and you leave your medication in your car or you just have in your center council, maybe your meds, something that you might take in midday, like when you're in your car going to lunch.

My birth control is super temperature sensitive.

Yeah, like, I used to keep an EpiPen in my car, and I had to learn the hard way that you can't do that.

It won't work? Like, the birth control or an EpiPen? So, the birth control that I use is, like, I'll say what it is. I mean, whatever. I would use, like, a NuvaRing. So, you have to keep it refrigerated until you use it, but you cannot freeze it. And it can't be room temperature, either.

Is it cold when you're attaching it?

Attaching.

I don't know.

Placing it, I feel like, what about a better choice of words? But weirdly, yes, it is. When you throw it up there, is it icy?

Oh, see, I thought it was a ring that went on your finger. It is not a ring that goes on your finger.

It goes on the other parts. Oh. Does it feel good?

I would think you'd want it to be warmer, like a hot towel or something.

I want it to work, so I'll do whatever they tell me to do.

A couple more of these things. loved your loved ones pets and people people who leave their their pets in their car during this cold weather snap or even like their family members their kids to go run into places and leave their car not running yeah not a good idea you saw somebody that had their pet right megan

uh that was in their car oh my god yeah this happened the other day i was out running errands And I saw this dog in a car, and I was like, oh, God, what do I do?

Oh. What did you do? Oh, that makes me sad.

Um. You legally saved me. No, I did something. I don't think we have time to talk about this right now.

Okay. Did you really? What did you do? Honestly, no, we got time to do it.

She did something, meaning she walked right into the store.

Oh, okay. Thought about it. And then the last one is you should never keep your car lower when you're parking it overnight or parking it in cold. You should never keep it lower than a quarter tank of gas because the gas lines could freeze.

I know. I'm bad about that one.

That's scary. So you got to keep gas in there.

Wanted to comment on the Tesla or the EV battery thing. When it gets so cold like that, the battery won't accept the charge. The battery has to heat up first. So when you plug in your EV, first the battery's got to get temperature. Then it'll start accepting the charge. So, you know, a regular charge might take a half hour. It'll take maybe an hour and a half.

So a lot of times you don't even have enough charge to put it on there. You know, right?

Because you let it go dead. Once it gets zero, then the battery's cold. So you have to heat the battery first, and then it'll accept the charge.

Where are you right now? Are you driving?

Yeah, I'm driving. Yeah, I'm in Michigan. I'm driving.

Yeah.

You know what I noticed is if you have automatic, like an automatic car starter, like I do on my Buick that you guys all make fun of me for, that sometimes if it's so cold, my start won't work. Like I can't do it from inside my house.

Really?

Yeah. That's interesting. That happened to me once this week already. Mine only does that. It's just too cold.

I don't have enough gas. I'm just like, you're an idiot.

I don't know if Lydia's getting this person, but we got a text from somebody that was talking about you shouldn't leave. You talk about you don't leave your instruments in there. If you're a golfer, you shouldn't leave your golf clubs. And I remember them saying that you shouldn't even leave them in your garage. They say that golf clubs in your garage, if your garage, John's actually with us. John, are you there?

Hey, what does it do to golf clubs if your golf clubs get cold?

Well, you know that little, the black tip that connects the hosel to the shaft, that thing can, it can lose, it can loosen up. So, like, the glue can, like, come on down, and then when you hit, you know, if you go to the driving range or whatever, like I do, I go, don't, your club head can fly off, right? So, yeah, don't put them in the garage or don't leave them in your truck.

I was trying to explain that to Chelsea, that I needed to keep my clubs in the house, and she thought that I was full of crap, and we ended up calling another friend, actually calling Gabara, Steve Gabara up, and he told her, no, they can't get cold because they could actually get ruined.

It's the same thing like during the summertime. You don't want to leave them in your trunk when it's really hot out, right?

Yeah.

Same thing. Same concept.

Somebody just said that their AirPods won't work because they left their AirPods in their car. And they had, now they can't even charge them anymore. The charger won't work. That sucks. AirPods are resilient, though. I washed mine the other day, and they still work. are we talking about that ring again
