Paul Verzi here, and I want to talk to you about Paul's Best Podcast on Will Ferrell's Big Money Players Network and iHeartRadio. I sit down each week with a special guest, and we discuss the absolute best of things. It's that, and then there's everything else. I'm Mange Shachikular and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.

00:00:49 - 00:00:54 | Speaker 1:

I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know.

00:00:54 - 00:01:00 | Speaker 2:

Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

00:01:32 - 00:01:41 | Speaker 6:

All right, Mojo on the Morning Show. So, Megan, your brother's girlfriend, what sport did she play?

00:01:41 - 00:01:44 | Speaker 5:

Softball. She played in college.

00:01:44 - 00:01:45 | Speaker 6:

Oh, really? Okay.

00:01:46 - 00:01:50 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, very intense. She's very fake. She's very intimidating. She's a strong lady.

00:01:50 - 00:01:53 | Speaker 6:

Well, you were an athlete. Yeah, did you play soccer?

00:01:53 - 00:02:17 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, but I went to college. to college and then decided to give up on myself completely and then i let everything go and now i am not a tough lady anymore i used to be a very fit adult and then you know freshman 15 turns into sophomore 50 and then junior i don't know taco bell for breakfast and then senior i we're about

00:02:17 - 00:02:24 | Speaker 6:

to graduate who cares so is she still play soccer or i mean uh softball now is she still do like Adult league softball?

00:02:24 - 00:02:40 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, so she does adult leagues, and she did one this weekend, and it was an overnight tournament. It was 21 and over, adults, co-ed league, and they started at, like, I want to say 8 or 9 o'clock at night, and it went until 6 or 7 in the morning.

00:02:40 - 00:02:44 | Speaker 6:

Where do they play? Do they play in warm climates, or do they play indoors?

00:02:44 - 00:03:39 | Speaker 5:

No, it was in one of those, like, domes. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So we go there, and we're thinking, we're showing up, and we're going to, like, have some drinks. There's going to be drinks there. There's got to be a DJ with some music playing. There's got to be so much stuff going on. Nope. This was the most intense indoor softball tournament for adults I have ever seen in my entire life. And because it was co-ed, every single one of the girls was trying to have fun. They were dancing. They were joking. and every guy was taking it like this was their entrance into the MLB and this was their only shot at making it into the big leagues. And it was so not fun and it was so intense because all the boys would start yelling at the girls or not throwing to the girls and instead just trying to run to the bases that none of the girls are playing and I felt so bad for all of them. It was terrible to watch.

00:03:39 - 00:03:40 | Speaker 6:

So the guys were taking it way too seriously?

00:03:41 - 00:03:41 | Speaker 5:

Way too seriously.

00:03:41 - 00:03:49 | Speaker 6:

And I think, if I'm not mistaken, with adult co-ed, you have to have a certain amount of women on the field at the same time, right?

00:03:49 - 00:03:50 | Speaker 5:

Correct, correct.

00:03:50 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 6:

And so these guys are just being a bunch of a-holes.

00:03:53 - 00:04:06 | Speaker 5:

Booty holes, yeah, little booty holes. And not only was I shocked by the men's behavior, I was also quite shocked by how many children were there at midnight. I was very shocked. Oh, really? Parents that bring their kids out there. Very shocking. I felt like it was a big deal. They're real dedicated to playing.

00:04:07 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 6:

Real quick, I got a thought on this whole thing, because I used to do the adult league sports. I did a basketball, and we for some reason turn into LeBron James when we do this, you know what I mean? Like when you're playing adult league, like you start becoming. But the adult league stuff, and then I also, Megan, I umpired adult league. Did you? That was how I put myself through college. They paid you? I would get followed into the parking lot. Oh, my God, I got paid great money. I was a U-triple-S-S-A umpire. I don't know how that means anything to you. I was certified, but I would get followed into the parking lot. And the worst people that were for these adult leagues, church leagues, the church league. I threw a pastor out of a game of a church and the pastor wanted to kick my.

00:05:00 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 7:

ass in the parking lot and i found it was like pastor of one of those like strip mall you know uh christian churches and i was like man this guy's a pastor of a church and he literally wanted to kill me and he had the hand of god with him so i was afraid of that but what's that like is

00:05:13 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 5:

there a prize at the end like i know there's fundraisers and they raise money for these teams but do you win money at the end you get i think you do or you also get a trophy you know who plays

00:05:22 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 7:

in these things monty our official pharmacist of the mojo he actually is a um he's a world World Series softball champion.

00:05:32 - 00:05:32 | Speaker 11:

Oh.

00:05:33 - 00:05:38 | Speaker 7:

Yes. So, I don't know. Your brother's girlfriend, is their team good enough to, like, play in a World Series?

00:05:39 - 00:05:43 | Speaker 9:

So, they only lost two games the entire night, and they still came in fourth place.

00:05:44 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 7:

Oh, wow.

00:05:44 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 9:

So, I guess it was kind of intense. But the only prize was a small little trophy.

00:05:49 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 7:

Monty, quick question for you.

00:05:51 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 9:

Yeah.

00:05:52 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:05:52 - 00:05:56 | Speaker 7:

Do you yell at the girls on your softball team? Are you on a co-ed team, or is it an all-guys team?

00:05:57 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 6:

I'm on both.

00:05:58 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 7:

You're on both? Yeah. Megan's telling a story here right now, and she's telling a story about how her brother's girlfriend was playing softball this weekend, and everybody, all adult league softball people are nuts.

00:06:10 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, they are. Well, co-ed, especially if you have competitive guys, yeah, because they think everyone should be on their level, but co-ed's a different level. Co-ed's not going to have fun.

00:06:20 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 7:

Yeah.

00:06:20 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 6:

Unless you're playing on a competitive co-ed team.

00:06:22 - 00:06:26 | Speaker 7:

It wasn't very fun for Megan watching, spectating this thing.

00:06:26 - 00:06:28 | Speaker 6:

No, no, I believe it. I totally believe that.

00:06:28 - 00:06:44 | Speaker 7:

Monty, by the way, listen to this. The other night, we went out to eat, and Monty wore his World Series ring. He actually has, and I go, I didn't realize it was that serious. I said to him, is that your class ring? And he goes, no, it's my World Series ring. Oh, from softball. Yeah, from his softball thing. Monty, how many World Series have you won?

00:06:45 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 6:

Three or four.

00:06:47 - 00:06:49 | Speaker 7:

Do you get any money out of this whole deal or just that ring?

00:06:49 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 6:

No, just for fun. It's just fun.

00:06:51 - 00:06:53 | Speaker 3:

You end up spending a lot of money, right?

00:06:53 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, but we have sponsors. We have sponsors.

00:06:56 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 7:

Does that ring get you laid, Monty? Like if you go into a bar, do you show that ring and they think you're a –

00:07:02 - 00:07:03 | Speaker 6:

No, not really.

00:07:04 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 7:

Then take the damn thing off and put it in your sock drawer, will you please?

00:07:09 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, you got it.

00:07:10 - 00:07:11 | Speaker 7:

All right, buddy. I'll talk to you later.

00:07:12 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 6:

Yes, sir. Bye-bye.

00:07:13 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 7:

I'll see you.

00:07:14 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 11:

Wes plays on an adult hockey league.

00:07:17 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 7:

Oh, they're crazy. They get serious.

00:07:19 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 11:

I have yet to go to a game because he plays on Sunday nights. I got to go one of these. Well, Megan says people bring their kids.

00:07:26 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 7:

Megan says that people's kids are out there that late. Isn't that nuts?

00:07:29 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 9:

Baby in car seats, toddlers.

00:07:31 - 00:07:43 | Speaker 7:

I was going to say, I don't think he starts playing until like 10 p.m. Megan, is your brother the type that if one of the guys on the team yelled at his girlfriend, would he go out on the field and hit him over the head with a bat or something?

00:07:44 - 00:07:47 | Speaker 8:

Oh, yeah, yeah. My brother is tough.

00:07:48 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 7:

No, he's not. He's not. Who would be more likely to stick up for your brother's girlfriend, You or your brother, Sean?

00:07:56 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 8:

Oh, me for sure. For sure me. I think I like my brother's girlfriend more than he likes her.

00:08:01 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, she sounds cool. This sounds like a good relationship. We should start our own team. What do you guys think if we all put together a softball team for the summer?

00:08:10 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 10:

I've done a ton of adult leagues. I wouldn't do softball. Let me tell you, the best league there is is adult dodgeball. I did do dodgeball. Yeah.

00:08:17 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 11:

When I graduated from college, they let me play one game, and then they never let me play again.

00:08:22 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 3:

I'm going to skip the game and I just plan the after bar. I'll be the advanced team, get the place set up for you.

00:08:29 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 7:

Every team needs a mascot.

00:08:30 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 3:

Yep.

00:08:30 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 11:

Or it wasn't dodgeball, it was kickball. It was kickball is what it was. I did a kickball league too. Yeah. Yeah.

00:08:35 - 00:08:39 | Speaker 5:

I saw adult keepy-uppy leagues where you literally keep a balloon off the ground and there's obstacles.

00:08:39 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 11:

Stop it right now. Wow. Oh, I could kill somebody at that game.

00:08:43 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 7:

Pickleball too has been.

00:08:43 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 11:

I play with my kids all the time.

00:08:44 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 7:

What about pickleball? I told you guys I played pickleball a couple times this past summer. It's easy. It's like wiffle ball, but with rackets. It's actually fun. We should play. We should get more active. We all need to get more exercise.

00:08:57 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 11:

That's all outdoors. You're just laughing as you're saying it because you know it is not going to happen.

00:09:01 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 7:

We're not doing it. It's like the dumbest thing ever that I'm thinking of.

00:09:05 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 9:

Synchronized swimming.

00:09:07 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 4:
