Mojo, Spike Shannon, Megan, Mike our producers KP, Reese, the director of Awesomeness Katie, our executive audio director and Lydia, our director of well, I was going to say our director of the Breaking and Entering Christmas Wish program and all community events here on the show so it's good to have you guys with us, phone number is 844 Mojo Live, 844-665 6 5 4 8 text 9 5 5 0 0. So what did you notice yesterday when you were out and about yesterday afternoon?

00:03:00 - 00:03:23 | Speaker 4:

Oh, well I drove, I was driving home from work and the gym parking lot was empty. It was now usually Mondays are crowded there. Cause I always feel a little guilty. Like Mondays are busiest day at work. And I was thinking, Oh, I should work out. And, and I don't know, you know, maybe people are paying for their weekends since too, but I noticed people must've slacked off. And I'm going to ask the listeners Have you already given up on your resolutions

00:03:23 - 00:03:40 | Speaker 7:

Mike and I have been talking about this Because third week of the month Is the biggest week that people give up Oh is it? Oh yeah Third week They say 16 days Is like the equivalent of Whether you're going to make it or break it If you get past that

00:03:40 - 00:03:58 | Speaker 4:

This made me feel better Because I haven't worked out in a week And I was thinking like when I drove by Like oh good nobody else is either I have an excuse because everybody's given up their – or maybe they – I don't know if they fell off or maybe they haven't really gotten started yet. A lot of people put on their list, like, I'm going to get healthy in 2023.

00:03:59 - 00:04:07 | Speaker 3:

You're right, though. Normally the gyms are usually packed, though, for at least a couple months when the New Year starts. So I'm surprised it wasn't.

00:04:08 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, usually the regular fitness people don't even want to go in January because all the newbies are there for a couple weeks.

00:04:15 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 7:

What's the day that you think is always the busiest day at the gym? because I think Wednesdays are always the busiest day. Like, that's the thing that I noticed.

00:04:21 - 00:04:23 | Speaker 1:

You can actually look on the Planet Venice app because it tells you.

00:04:23 - 00:04:32 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, I always log in and I'll show you the peak because I always look for one more reason to not go like, oh, crowd-o-meter says it's too crowded. There's two bars, which is like nothing, by the way.

00:04:33 - 00:04:33 | Speaker 1:

Two bars.

00:04:33 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 7:

But I will say this, though. Wednesdays are always, to me, like the hardest day, you know, to ever, like, find things to, you know, like to not bump into a bunch of people. but also mondays are the day i feel like it's like my i'm my most tired on monday monday is always the day that um i never get sleep on sunday nights i get the sunday scaries so i'm not working out on it on

00:05:00 - 00:05:12 | Speaker 4:

a Monday because I'm usually going home and I'm sleeping the entire day. And then Tuesday, like today will be a day I will try to do something because if I know if I don't, I'm never going to do anything. And Wednesdays are usually those days.

00:05:12 - 00:05:15 | Speaker 5:

And then, you know, Saturdays are for the boys and Sundays are for the boys.

00:05:16 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 2:

But don't they say it's two weeks to make a habit? So if you don't even make it to, you know, 40 days, you're doomed.

00:05:23 - 00:05:35 | Speaker 5:

Well, and going back to what Mike said because he noticed it too, I was thinking also, I wonder if more people are more people working out at home now because everybody got home equipment during the pandemic or no, they're just not working out.

00:05:36 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 4:

I don't know. Listen, I know we've been I never talk about we've been selling Planet Fitness memberships like crazy the last few weeks. So people are people are definitely getting them. But you know what? Just getting the membership actually is OK. That's right.

00:05:48 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 5:

It actually Mojo will tell you directly as long as you have a membership. You don't have to work.

00:05:52 - 00:06:01 | Speaker 4:

Actually, the better the membership, the more you'll actually, in your head, lose weight. Just so you know that. Download the PF app right now.

00:06:01 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 3:

There's a couple new Planet Fitnesses in the West Michigan area. So I noticed that if I go to certain ones on certain days, they are less busier on those days. So I'll rotate.

00:06:10 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 4:

And Planet Fitnesses become like Starbucks. There's one almost on every single corner, too.

00:06:14 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 2:

Well, they make it very, very convenient. It's like, there's two in Royal Oak. What is going on?

00:06:20 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 5:

They can make me feel guilty three times on my drive home from work.

00:06:23 - 00:07:01 | Speaker 4:

Actually, what it does for me, if somebody says to me, like, hey, did you go work out today? I'll be like, yeah. And they'll say, no, I didn't see you there. And I'll say, no, I was at this one. So real quick, I wanted to ask this question, too. What's the fastest that your resolution was over with? Because I one time did a diet or started a diet. And I was like, all right, I'm going to do this. I'm going to start this diet. And I remember it was like this weight – this was way before IDLU. I think it was medical weight loss or something like that. And by 5 o'clock that evening, I'd ordered a pizza. And I had a pizza. Like literally the same day.

00:07:01 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 5:

I was thinking over the weekend, I thought, I should ask our sales and marketing team to put together another Spikes craft beer crawl for everybody ending dry January. But then I realized everybody I've been talking to that tried to do dry January stopped about a week ago, so they didn't even make it through January.

00:07:18 - 00:07:24 | Speaker 4:

Or they were – it's funny. It's not so dry January where they all of a sudden remake rules.

00:07:24 - 00:07:24 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, yeah.

00:07:24 - 00:07:28 | Speaker 4:

It's like, no, no, but Saturdays, I'm okay with it. This is okay. What's going on, Erica?

00:07:30 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 3:

Hi. Hi, guys. Good morning.

00:07:31 - 00:07:32 | Speaker 4:

What's going on?

00:07:33 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 3:

Congrats, Shannon. Thank you. Hi. Yeah, I just wanted to answer. So I was saying, like, hey, yeah, you guys are better than me. I never even put working out on my resolution list. So I'm telling you, I mentioned this.

00:07:52 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 4:

I don't call it resolutions. I just call them goals. And that's it. And, honestly, that's been my biggest help in doing this thing. Because then when you do have one of those moments, you're like, oh, I'm not achieving my goal. So what's up?

00:08:05 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 3:

I wish we did these in the middle of the year rather than beginning. Because, like, mine was TV. Like, I'm going to be not on screens as much, but there's the Super Bowl. But you can.

00:08:13 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 2:

Nobody says it has to be a New Year's resolution. I mean, like Mojo said, it could be a goal or you could set an intention anytime.

00:08:19 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 4:

It's like the vasectomy. Chelsea said, you're going to get the vasectomy. And I did it when the Masters was on TV. Now, not the greatest thing to sit there and watch when you've got a bag of peas on your balls. What's going on, Joe?

00:08:34 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 1:

Hey, how you guys doing?

00:08:36 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 4:

Good. What's happening?

00:08:36 - 00:09:00 | Speaker 1:

yeah so i'm a uh i'm a power lifter and i go to the gym just about every single day and um what i've noticed is that mondays at 5 p.m and sunday mornings are the worst times really okay so again what is that mondays monday morning or mondays at 5 p.m and then sundays uh

00:09:00 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 4:

in the morning i never would have thought sundays that yeah i would think people would sleep in

00:09:07 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 1:

like after saturday it's after those saturday night parties especially for college kids because like i go to msu and uh it's packed every single gym and like around the campus even the ones on campus packed sunday morning people sweating out the alcohol right yeah pretty much hey what what

00:09:26 - 00:09:30 | Speaker 4:

floor is that of the library is the hookup floor? We were talking about that

00:09:30 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 1:

earlier. I don't know what you're talking about. Thanks, Joe.

00:09:35 - 00:09:36 | Speaker 4:

Sierra, what's up?

00:09:37 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 1:

Hey, Mojo. So I wanted to do crocheting, and I never even started.

00:09:42 - 00:09:51 | Speaker 5:

Well, you know what? It's not too late. You're only three weeks in. Yeah, I don't think so. She never wanted to really do it.

00:09:52 - 00:09:56 | Speaker 4:

Is crocheting really something, though, that you can do a resolution with, honestly?

00:09:56 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 6:

I mean, I wanted to look for the kids.

00:09:58 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

I thought it was like. I mean.

00:10:00 - 00:10:01 | Speaker 5:

Come on, crocheting.

00:10:01 - 00:10:02 | Speaker 2:

To learn how to do something?

00:10:02 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 5:

This is what I'm going to do. I'm going to do my resolution. Like, that doesn't seem like it's that hard of a resolution. You're crocheting.

00:10:10 - 00:10:14 | Speaker 2:

But if you're learning to do something new on a new skill, that's a good resolution.

00:10:14 - 00:10:18 | Speaker 5:

I don't know. I just feel like that's one of those ones where it's like, okay.

00:10:18 - 00:10:21 | Speaker 2:

I mean, you wanted to learn how to, you wanted to take on fishing as a hobby.

00:10:21 - 00:10:27 | Speaker 5:

But I wouldn't make it as a resolution. My resolution is to go fishing. Because that's not really putting, you know, that's just me showing up, right?

00:10:28 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 2:

No, that takes effort to learn how to do it. I'm trying to give you credit here for what you wanted to do.

00:10:33 - 00:10:36 | Speaker 4:

No, I'm not doing it. You said you were going to take more pictures with Chelsea. That's a good resolution.

00:10:36 - 00:10:46 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. No, that was a goal. That was my goal. But trying, I don't know. That's like with the people. It's like, I'm going to have ice cream every single night. That's going to be my resolution.

00:10:46 - 00:10:49 | Speaker 2:

But that's not the same as learning how to do something.

00:10:49 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 5:

Crocheting just seems like something like that. It's a hobby. No offense. I don't know how to do it. I don't know how to crochet, and I'm sure there's difficulty in it. But, like, going to the gym compared to crocheting?

00:11:01 - 00:11:09 | Speaker 4:

Well, you're not doing resolutions on a difficulty scale. It's just you're trying to motivate yourself to do something new, step out of your box.

00:11:10 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 5:

What's going on, Elena?

00:11:12 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 6:

I gave up swearing for Lent, and it lasted for 10 minutes.

00:11:18 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 5:

And don't say the word, but what word was it? Was it the S word, the F word?

00:11:23 - 00:11:24 | Unknown:

F.

00:11:24 - 00:11:28 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. Yeah, got to go big or go home. Becca, what's up?

00:11:29 - 00:11:40 | Speaker 7:

Hi, Mojo. How's it going? Love your show. Oh, we love you, too. Thank you. You're welcome. Well, dry January became damp January very quickly.

00:11:42 - 00:11:44 | Speaker 5:

That's funny. What's up, Laura?

00:11:46 - 00:11:47 | Speaker 7:

Hey, how's it going?

00:11:47 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 5:

Good. What's going on?

00:11:48 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 7:

um so i am wanting to tell you that crocheting can definitely be part of a resolution um my grandmother taught me to crochet when i was super young and i have been working on multiple things and i have a whole yarn bag dedicated to it and actually while i'm sitting here listening to you guys on the radio i'm waiting to drop off one of my kids at school and i am working on a hat

00:12:15 - 00:12:16 | Speaker 5:

Okay.

00:12:16 - 00:12:17 | Speaker 7:

Definitely resolution.

00:12:17 - 00:12:20 | Speaker 5:

I stand corrected on this one here.

00:12:21 - 00:12:30 | Speaker 7:

I definitely agree. And both the kids wanted to say hi and congrats to Shannon. Tell them thank you. Congrats, Shannon. Thank you.

00:12:30 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 5:

We love you kids. Hi, kid. What are your names? What are your names?

00:12:36 - 00:12:38 | Speaker 7:

My name is Sophia.

00:12:38 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 5:

Hi, Sophia.

00:12:39 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 7:

Hi, Sophia.

00:12:40 - 00:12:45 | Speaker 5:

What's your resolution, Sophia? Does Sophia have a resolution? Does she know what a resolution is?

00:12:47 - 00:12:54 | Speaker 7:

It's a goal for the year. My goal for the year is to get good grades.

00:12:54 - 00:13:06 | Speaker 5:

Oh. Let me give you a better one. Your goal for the year is to go in your mommy's purse, to take all the numbers that are double digits in there, and send them to Mojo.

00:13:08 - 00:13:09 | Speaker 7:

Oh, my gosh.

00:13:11 - 00:13:12 | Speaker 5:

All right?

00:13:13 - 00:13:16 | Speaker 7:

All right. We'll send you all of our unused gift cards.

00:13:16 - 00:13:23 | Speaker 5:

Oh, there you go. That's for Reese. By the way, Reese, did you ever get any? Did you ever get gift cards, unused gift cards from people? I did.

00:13:24 - 00:13:33 | Speaker 4:

I got one $25 Dairy Queen gift card. Shout out to them. Nice. And I got a Visa gift card with $4 left on it. So I will take it. Thank you.

00:13:34 - 00:13:52 | Speaker 5:

You know what the greatest is? When we announced that thing, we announced it in a way of, all right, hey, send us your unused gift cards. I still have people to this day that are like, if I didn't have to mail it in, I would have sent it already to you. I would have definitely done it already. Yeah. And now people are mad at me about the crocheting thing, and they want me to take crocheting lessons.

00:13:53 - 00:13:55 | Speaker 7:

I'll teach you. I'll teach you. All right, Laura. It's not hard.

00:13:56 - 00:14:02 | Speaker 5:

This is good, Laura. I need you to teach me so I can come over to your house and your kids can hand me all the resolutions. All right?

00:14:02 - 00:14:03 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, yeah. Okay.
