Time now for Am I the A-Hole on the Mojo in the Morning Show. Please don't swear, but please give us your thoughts on this one. It's Mojo in the Morning. Am I the a-hole? Dave on the phone with us right now? Am I right in saying that? And Dave has a situation where Dave had a relative that was not well. Actually, Dave, am I right in saying that is your relative since passed or no?

00:01:49 - 00:01:52 | Speaker 1:

Oh, no. No, he's still alive.

00:01:52 - 00:01:56 | Speaker 2:

He's still alive. Okay. So, Dave, it's your great uncle?

00:01:57 - 00:01:58 | Speaker 1:

That's right. Yeah, it's my great uncle.

00:01:59 - 00:02:04 | Speaker 2:

And not well in hospice, from what I understand. So we're sorry to hear about that.

00:02:05 - 00:02:10 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, thank you. Yeah, his health took a turn, and, yeah, he went into hospice. It was about two weeks ago.

00:02:12 - 00:02:21 | Speaker 2:

So, Dave, is Dave an a-hole for this? Dave, your uncle lives in Florida, and what did you guys do?

00:02:21 - 00:02:49 | Speaker 1:

well that's um we don't we don't live near florida so we had to take some time off to uh to travel down there i got the kids out of school and i took some time off work and so yeah we we kind of decided since we don't really have money for this we would sort of make it kind of a vacation as well so we were able to have some family time while we were down and they're visiting John.

00:02:50 - 00:03:05 | Speaker 2:

So you went to go visit your Uncle John. The point was going to Florida to go see him in hospice and pay maybe last respects to him. But while you were there, you decided to do a twofer, and you decided to take the family where? Did you guys go to a theme park or anything?

00:03:06 - 00:03:10 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, actually. One day we went to – took the kids to Disney.

00:03:10 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 2:

Okay. All right.

00:03:13 - 00:03:29 | Speaker 1:

So my aunt is upset with me, yeah, Because she's saying that we weren't there for Uncle John, which I disagree with, but she's just saying we didn't spend enough time with him while we were down there.

00:03:29 - 00:03:34 | Speaker 2:

Because you were going to Disney instead. Yeah.

00:03:34 - 00:03:50 | Speaker 5:

So that's my question. Because right off the bat, without getting any more detail, I don't think you're an a-hole. But did you spend enough time with Uncle John? Or did you just stop by, say hello, and goodbye, and then go to Magic Kingdom?

00:03:51 - 00:04:01 | Speaker 1:

No, we were down there for several days. And we have a big family, so there's a lot of family in there. We definitely got time with John. We got time with everybody.

00:04:01 - 00:04:02 | Speaker 5:

Okay.

00:04:02 - 00:04:03 | Speaker 1:

How much?

00:04:03 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 2:

I want to weigh it. How much time were you on a vacation, and how much time were you hospicing? it was probably like 40 60 okay 40 60 40 being how much time you're spending

00:04:19 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 1:

yeah we we did a little more family time yeah because we never get to we don't get to vacation

00:04:26 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 2:

yeah all right i still don't think you're an a-hole so is dave an a-hole is dave an a-hole i want to know if he waited in line longer to ride tron than he's I want to know the full story of this because I think he's painting a better picture than probably what it is.

00:04:45 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

But also, if there's a ton of family there, you're going to pay your last respects, but that doesn't mean that you have to sit there from 8 a.m. until midnight every single day with little kids. No, it does not. I would never want that, ever. Especially with the kids, bro.

00:05:00 - 00:05:07 | Speaker 3:

I'm saying if I was the one dying, I would want you to create some family memories. Come say goodbye, but do your thing as well.

00:05:07 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 4:

You better sit there and cry and tell me every good memory we had and all of the nice things about me. And I swear to God, if you think it's more fun to go to an amusement park. It is more fun. Than spend my last moments with me.

00:05:20 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 2:

Yeah.

00:05:20 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 4:

I also know you're full of spit right now. Sam. Nah. Yes, you are. I've got rules for my funeral. Open casket. Everybody better cry. You better look at me and realize what you're missing. Are you kidding me?

00:05:31 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 9:

Have you guys had family in hospice at all? Like, have you ever had that? Yeah. I had my dad in hospice in Chicago, and I felt guilty when we left the hospice to go get something to eat. Like, I felt weird leaving. Like, I was like, can we bring food in? Because if he would have died when we were gone, I would have never forgiven myself if I didn't get to see that.

00:05:49 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 3:

That's your dad. I understand that one. But this is Uncle John. This is Uncle John, who didn't even live in the same state anyway. It doesn't sound like they were very close. And, you know, to Dave's point, they never, ever, ever get to take time off or do anything as a family. I say fair.

00:06:02 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 4:

Okay, can you imagine you're riding the rock and roller coaster and you find out that your uncle passed away?

00:06:06 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 3:

You know what? You got to say goodbye. You got to say goodbye.

00:06:09 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 4:

Tess, what do you think?

00:06:10 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 3:

I don't want to be there for Uncle John as he's taking his last breath. If it's my mom or dad or sister or my husband, you know, my children, God forbid.

00:06:19 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 9:

Yeah, Uncle John's fine. Yeah, what do you think, Tess?

00:06:23 - 00:06:55 | Speaker 6:

I agree with you. you are not an a-hole um my first thought too was aunt is also probably grieving and going through a really difficult time so she's trying to find a way to express that you know when people aren't around 24 7 she's going to get frustrated thinking that time should it be all about him which i do understand that as well but again like shannon said if he's an out-of-state uncle that you're probably not that close with it's hard on your kids to see that as it is not even that too

00:06:55 - 00:07:12 | Speaker 3:

and yes i agree with you it's also hard for everybody else who is in that room or in that space to have little kids there for an extended period of time because they're trying to pay their respects as well i'm saying how little are the kids kids running around there dave how old

00:07:12 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 9:

little are the kids how old are they i've got uh four and seven man let them kids see goofy what's What's up, Tom? What do you think, Tom?

00:07:21 - 00:07:25 | Speaker 8:

Well, I got a question. Did Uncle John invite him down there every year when he was doing well?

00:07:26 - 00:07:27 | Speaker 3:

Great question.

00:07:28 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 5:

Did he? No, no. We hadn't seen John probably five years. See?

00:07:34 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 9:

Okay.

00:07:35 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 8:

So he and he called Uncle John. I mean, there you go. Is it that?

00:07:39 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 4:

What was that? Is it that or is it you've got to spend time with your loved ones who are grieving this process and who need support and help? So instead of being there to cook and clean and give a shoulder to cry on for Aunt John, whatever his name is, now you're off at Magic Kingdom having a good time and she's got nobody to grieve with. He said there were a million people there.

00:08:04 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 9:

Tom also has no family that he cares about, so that's why he's saying this too, right, Tom?

00:08:08 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 8:

Well, I'm Tom the funeral guy.

00:08:10 - 00:08:15 | Speaker 9:

I know, this is Tom the Funeral Home guy. He's around death all the time. Jamie, what's up? What do you think?

00:08:16 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 7:

So, definitely not. My dad just passed away and we weren't close, so we didn't stay at the hospital for hours. We stayed there probably two hours and then we went to the all-you-can-eat buffet. Oh, that's even worse. That's even worse.

00:08:32 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 9:

You guys are the A-holes. That's horrible.

00:08:36 - 00:08:39 | Speaker 7:

We spent more time at the buffet, but I don't think so.

00:08:39 - 00:08:44 | Speaker 9:

Yeah. By the way, if you left and went to the all-you-can-eat buffet while dad's dying, that's awful. That's horrible.

00:08:45 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 6:

And I have a seven-year-old. I'm not trying to sit in there with my daughter. Oh, my gosh.

00:08:49 - 00:08:50 | Speaker 3:

Does she drive everybody crazy?

00:08:50 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 9:

That's crazy. Hey, hold on a second. Dave, Uncle John is dying.

00:08:55 - 00:08:55 | Speaker 8:

Oh, no.

00:08:56 - 00:09:00 | Speaker 9:

You got the four-year-old and the other kid hanging out. Where are you going to go?

00:09:03 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 5:

Oh, you mean like, where am I going to go?

00:09:06 - 00:09:06 | Speaker 9:

Yeah, where are you going to go?

00:09:07 - 00:09:08 | Speaker 3:

He doesn't get it.

00:09:08 - 00:09:11 | Speaker 5:

But I can go anywhere? Yeah. Well, I'm going to Hawaii.
