apply. This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say. Alan Lee, my major is

00:01:39 - 00:02:24 | Speaker 1:

drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year yet. I don't think I was mentally prepared. I found Bishop State. They had the program. I met a few people there. I ended up arrolling. The instructor, first time I met him, I told him about my background. He said, okay, great. You know about this. He built me straight to work. He didn't let me have any leeway. He pushed me to my limits. So I think that made me choose drafting design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing. All my instructors just want to see me succeed. They want to push me to my limit. They want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be. And I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department. And I've already got a job shadow before, and hopefully I will internship over the summer. If you choose Bishop, we're welcome to have you any day. Ready to make your

Community College. Mojo in the morning is time now for Am I the A-Hole. This is where we ask you to tell us something that you're doing right now or something that's bothering you that you've done that you're worried people are going to think you're an a-hole about. You can go to channel 955 on the iHeartRadio app and there's that little microphone there. That is the talkback mic. It will send us your am I the a-hole just like this one. Okay, so my best friend

00:03:00 - 00:03:30 | Speaker 5:

and I are both engaged and I think we're going to be getting married sometime within the next year and I showed her my wedding dress options that I was thinking about buying and then yesterday she showed me the dress that she bought for her wedding and it's the exact same one that i told her that i wanted oh and so i told her that she should return it because i don't want us having the same dress so like am i in the wrong on this interesting so she's asking

00:03:30 - 00:03:48 | Speaker 10:

is she an a-hole for telling her friend that she has to return the dress um or is the friend the a-hole angela is her name we called her and got her on here for am i the a-hole angela how shocked were you when you noticed that she bought the dress that you showed her oh completely shocked

00:03:48 - 00:03:56 | Speaker 6:

I I thought it was a joke to be honest and then it was very clearly not a joke wow did she even go

00:03:56 - 00:04:01 | Speaker 10:

and buy it from the same place that you showed her where you uh you saw it yes and she made an

00:04:01 - 00:04:07 | Speaker 7:

appointment with the same person that I made an appointment with okay so my question to you is

00:04:07 - 00:04:21 | Speaker 2:

did you show her several different dresses and say it's for sure one of these or you showed her this specific dress and said I this is it I'm going back to buy this one well I showed her

00:04:21 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 7:

three so that's kind of you know in her favor I guess but I said that the one that she bought was like my absolute favorite I really loved it but just had like a plan b and c but okay but did she

00:04:37 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 10:

know she she knew that that was your absolute favorite yes 100 and what was her reaction did she downplay the dress or was she almost as excited as you were you know she said you know

00:04:51 - 00:05:18 | Speaker 7:

she was very excited about it and she was just kind of like oh you know i was looking at similar dresses and then what she ended up Yeah. me the story was that she went to her appointment and asked to see that dress and fell in love with it when she put it on and just decided you know like she had that you know yes to the dress moment where her and her grandma and her mom they all cried and so she was just like you know i just

00:05:18 - 00:05:26 | Speaker 1:

had to get it this was my dress um have you tried that dress on yet or you just like the dress from

00:05:26 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 7:

the pictures and or from seeing it i have not tried it on yet but i have had the appointment longer than her it was just like timing otherwise i would have had it first and so like but this was the one that i had been i had like pinned for months and she's known that all right this is

00:05:47 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 1:

an interesting one um i don't i mean listen i don't i still never understand why women will get, you know, this feeling that only one person can wear something. They wouldn't make it if they didn't want more people.

00:06:00 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 2:

No, you can't, but not when you're best, when it's friends. It's a wedding dress. Yeah, same people are going to the weddings.

00:06:06 - 00:06:07 | Speaker 1:

Who's getting married first?

00:06:09 - 00:06:12 | Speaker 7:

So neither of us actually have a set date yet.

00:06:12 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 1:

This is what you need to do, buy that dress and get married before her. And then everybody thinks that she copied it. Hold on. Linda, is Angela an a-hole for being upset at her friend and telling her friend that she can't have that dress?

00:06:26 - 00:06:32 | Speaker 3:

No, her friend, who's not really her friend, is the a-hole. That's not your friend, Angela.

00:06:33 - 00:06:37 | Speaker 1:

So for her doing that, you think that's a non-friendship type thing to do?

00:06:38 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 3:

Oh, absolutely. It's a big event. I'm not a bridezilla, so I understand there's a lot of emotions that come with weddings, but this is something important. And since they're both doing it at the same time, it really blows my mind that someone would literally copy the dress that you're buying. That's not your friend. Even if, I agree with you, by the way.

00:06:57 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 2:

Even if that wasn't the dress that you ended up buying, because truly, you're probably going to put that dress on and not like it. That's just how it goes. It looks different on a pin or a magazine page than it does on your body. However, I still maintain your friend is the a-hole because she knew that that was one of the choices and still went ahead. And if she was your friend, she calls you or FaceTimes you and said, okay, I'm in a situation. I tried on that dress you showed me because I thought it was beautiful. And now I love it. What do I do? And she didn't even do that. It was like she went behind your back and did it.

00:07:35 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, completely. Like, I even suggested that to her. Like, why didn't you just call me before you bought it? Like, outright.

00:07:43 - 00:07:44 | Speaker 1:

You know?

00:07:44 - 00:07:45 | Speaker 7:

So, I don't know.

00:07:45 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 1:

Rose, what do you think?

00:07:46 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 5:

rose is angela and a-hole she should have waited and went with the people who say yes to the dress i mean it's kind of your fault for sharing your excitement i guess not really interesting but i feel your pain but get a new dress get a better dress he who laughs laughs laughs the loudest

00:08:05 - 00:08:10 | Speaker 1:

it can't be that simple so but so you should is this one of those things where you don't share

00:08:10 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 5:

baby names you know what i mean but when it's your best friend you do you're just my baby mama too don't share anything in this world clearly it's a dangerous place nowadays watch out she might

00:08:24 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 1:

but your friendship should be a safe place um shannon but with the whole baby name thing

00:08:31 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 2:

you you probably actually didn't i didn't tell a dame a damsel and it wasn't because i didn't want anybody to steal it it was just because i wanted it to be a surprise yeah but um harley

00:08:42 - 00:08:47 | Speaker 1:

wants to make a comment here angela am i the a-hole what are your thoughts i sure do i think

00:08:47 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 6:

that her friend is the a-hole and i'll tell you why she knew the minute that you show her that dress that it was yours you look good in it you was beaming in it and she did it on purpose because guess what it happened to me and and i'm 43 okay first time long time Literally, like, 13 years, a long time. And so my thing is this. She knows. Every woman knows, okay? That's why we say yes to the dress. I say rock it. I say do it better. And I say show up because everybody has the right to wear that dress. But you just change the accessories up.

00:09:25 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 1:

That's all you do. Boy, that's interesting. Yeah, make it look prettier by doing other stuff to it.

00:09:30 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 6:

You dang on right. I will. I sure do. I sure would. Because you are a woman, okay? I'm going to take that from you.

00:09:37 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 1:

See, I don't think you can get the dress. We love you. Thank you for the call. Tiffany's got an interesting point. What's that, Tiffany?

00:09:45 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 4:

So, I'm sorry, but I think she's an a-hole. Like, you don't have dibs to address, and you could try it on and absolutely hate it. I went wedding dress shopping, had everything pinked that I loved, and it didn't fit for my body type. I mean, unless she is the same measurements as her.

00:10:00 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 7:

friend and as a model herself yeah you're gonna look different and you know you should be happy for your friend and just one-upper if you really are really that upset with her get something

00:10:09 - 00:10:16 | Speaker 9:

better very interesting yeah uh liz has another one liz you think she's an a-hole angela's an a-hole

00:10:16 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 6:

i think they both are i think the best friend is an a-hole for kind of being sneaky about it and going behind her back and buying the dress yep i also think she's an a-hole for trying to tell someone that they have to return a dress when you realistically haven't even tried it on yet. So you have no idea if you're going to like it.

00:10:34 - 00:10:37 | Speaker 8:

Yeah. Weddings bring the crazy out of people. They do.

00:10:38 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 9:

You know what? I do think, though, but I do think, though, if you tell your friend she can't have that dress, you look like you're being catty and doing that. And Lucinda, your comment, am I the a-hole? What do you think here? Angela just found out that her friend bought the same wedding dress that she was going to buy. What do you think?

00:10:59 - 00:11:35 | Speaker 7:

Hey, first time, long time. so i don't think that neither maybe both but neither one of them are and here's why so they're best friends you have this relationship because you guys have things in common and if clothing is the thing that you have in common there is a chance that you both fall in love with this dress and it's your day so you need to focus on you and you in that dress not your best friend like let her have her day you have your day it doesn't matter that you both are wearing the same dress she's our best friend for that reason what happens if and here's another one

00:11:35 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 9:

angela what happens if she chooses the same place that you're going to have your wedding and she chooses the date that you wanted for your wedding like what happens if this girl maybe is

00:11:46 - 00:11:50 | Speaker 4:

this is like what if she what if she comes in on your man what if this is crazy she wants to be

00:11:50 - 00:11:53 | Speaker 9:

you. Have you seen that she has a different man?

00:11:54 - 00:12:00 | Speaker 7:

We're just kidding. I mean, listen, I was worried about the dress and now I'm worried about a whole bunch of other things.

00:12:00 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 9:

We're just kidding. We're just kidding. Hey. I could

00:12:02 - 00:12:08 | Speaker 4:

almost promise you though, I'd be very surprised if that is the dress you end up picking when you actually go and start trying on dresses. Isn't

00:12:08 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 9:

it usually like the... I had one that

00:12:10 - 00:12:16 | Speaker 4:

I 100% it was going to be my dress and when I tried it on, it was so ugly on my body. It just did

00:12:16 - 00:12:26 | Speaker 9:

not look good. And then what you do is you just wear it on the next marriage that you have so you know what i mean just kind of decide i wasn't saying that for you i was saying

00:12:26 - 00:12:42 | Speaker 4:

that i was waiting here by the way although i i was at the mall the other day and there was this beautiful wedding dress in the window anthropology and i said to lucia i go should we just have another wedding i go same guy let's just have another wedding she's gonna cost you lots of

00:12:42 - 00:13:08 | Speaker 5:

money they've taken over cities before but this july they're bringing the x games league championship home to new orleans july 24th through 26 at the superdome over 100 elite athletes competing for the first ever league title plus metro booming jid subtronics and bunt performing live new orleans doesn't just host the moment new orleans is the moment get your tickets now

This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:14:06 - 00:14:51 | Speaker 1:

I would say Bishop State's like a home for people. It may not be like a four-year where you have a dorm, you have a roommate, you have a rec center, but it's still a place you can go meet new people, classmates, people in the hallway, make friends with advisors on all these teachers and everything like that. It's just a place you can feel like yourself and not try to be there you don't want to be. With this program, I learned networking a lot. We've had two dinners with heads of different companies dealing with shipping or even game design builds, dealing with AutoCAD or any 3D modeling. So really being able to meet new people or meet heads of new people has been really helpful. I don't come from a wealthy family, so four years were kind of not out the picture, but less probable for me to go to. Bishop State, with my scholarship, it cut my price in half and made it way easier for me to go to school for the same 12 credits I would go for a four-year.

00:14:51 - 00:14:58 | Speaker 3:
