This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:06 - 00:01:51 | Speaker 7:

My name is Patrick Pettway, and I am getting my Associates of Science and General Education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer. When you go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college as a 40-year-old man, I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. For me to be able to be accepted through FAFSA and to have Bishop State pay for all of my tuition, not only that, but the curriculums, you know, they make it so easy to understand on their website. Like I said, I'm a 40-year-old man, so I don't use technology too much, but it was very understandable where I needed to go. It was extremely fast. These past two years, things have just moved in a total different type of way. It's like its own moving entity to see things manifest the way that they do.

Let's go.

00:02:30 - 00:02:31 | Unknown:

It's show time.

00:02:31 - 00:02:50 | Speaker 5:

All right. Good morning. It is Mojo in the Morning Show. Nice to have you guys here. So we were talking about how our friends over at House of Hummus, good friends of the Mojo in the Morning Show. Actually, Lydia is going to be out at a House of Hummus location. Where are you going to be, Lydia?

00:02:51 - 00:02:54 | Speaker 1:

I'm going to be on Van Dyke, just south of 14 Mile.

00:02:54 - 00:02:58 | Speaker 5:

Okay, and that is House of Hummus on Saturday before the game?

00:02:59 - 00:03:02 | Speaker 1:

Yes, House of Hummus Warren. It's their grand opening. What time? 12 to 2.

00:03:02 - 00:03:03 | Speaker 5:

12 to 2.

00:03:04 - 00:03:08 | Speaker 6:

Get them catering for the game. It's so good.

00:03:08 - 00:04:04 | Speaker 5:

So listen, House of Hummus came through for us. They want to give us money to be able to give away a gift card so that you could go buy, if you wanted to, tickets to go see the Lions play on Saturday night. So this is actually kind of a cool thing that they're giving this to us. And we came up with the idea since everybody's all excited about the Lions. And I think that Amaranth St. Brown, pro bowler, superstar wide receiver, probably the best in the game. He is so famous for that Green Bay game up in Lambeau after a touchdown to do the headstand the way he did. We want to do a Lions headstand contest. but we were going back and forth on this. I think that we should do headstand, handstand and allow both only because I will say this to you. Somebody brought up a really good point. He had a helmet on when he was doing the damn thing. And I got to be honest,

00:04:04 - 00:04:06 | Speaker 6:

I just allows you to balance a little bit better.

00:04:06 - 00:04:08 | Speaker 5:

I just don't want anybody like to hurt themselves.

00:04:08 - 00:04:09 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:04:09 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 5:

But I do think it would be kind of fun just to see how long and who would be the longest of doing it.

00:04:14 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:04:14 - 00:04:29 | Speaker 5:

You know, of getting up there and doing the thing. So do question, could you do a headstand? is there anybody that can do a headstand and if not can you do a handstand and how long can you do a handstand like what's the longest that because you did yoga right you're a yoga person man back

00:04:29 - 00:04:33 | Speaker 6:

in the day i could do it for a long time i don't know if i could anymore wasn't that a yoga thing

00:04:33 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

where they would yeah i never understood that i remember taking a yoga class one time raina's class over over there and i remember she would go we're gonna do a headstand i'm like i'm out i like tap this is that there's no way i'm doing this i thought you do one once or twice against No, I did. Well, that was the thing. And then I'm up on the thing doing it and my my arms are shaking and I'm freaking out. Could could you do could any of you guys do a headstand at all? You can't you can do a head headstand. Yeah, I was a gymnast. Really?

00:05:00 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 1:

could you think you could do it now or do you think no was it does it hurt your head backflips

00:05:05 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 4:

too i'm definitely not whipping one of those bad boys out i don't even know if i could cartwheel

00:05:09 - 00:05:15 | Speaker 1:

anymore does it hurt your head when you do the thing i was on a spring floor so nothing really

00:05:15 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 4:

hurt on the spring floor um so no but i would say like if we were here on the cement yeah that would

00:05:21 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 1:

be that would be terrible where do what kind of floor do we have to do this on like do we have to get somebody's gym mats like do we have to go i feel like i have friends that have gym mats we

00:05:29 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 3:

can make that happen um when are we doing this though uh we've got to do it before saturday let's

00:05:34 - 00:05:58 | Speaker 1:

do it on friday friday so friday morning okay here yeah so are we doing it here at the radio station lydia or should we do it at a gym should we see if there's a i mean we can do it at a gym if you want i don't know i'm just wondering if like where would it be easier to do this thing is there like a gymnastics place or something like that that would uh help us with this whole deal i don't know i don't know what would be the easiest he did it you know at lambo on grass So, I mean, this guy is unbelievable.

00:05:58 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 3:

I feel like we could do it in that area out there of the new studio if we just get some mats.

00:06:03 - 00:06:09 | Speaker 1:

I don't even like walking in that area. You think people could do it on mats in there? Really? It's cold as hell out there, though, too.

00:06:09 - 00:06:10 | Speaker 3:

How bad do you want the tickets?

00:06:11 - 00:06:32 | Speaker 1:

Honestly, you're right. Is there anybody that would be willing to do this ring for Lions tickets? I will tell you this. There's a lot of things that I would do for Lions tickets. This one would be like, I don't know if I could do it. And I'm not trying to get people to not want to be in this contest, but you'd really have to be a fan like i think i would shave my head or paint my hair blue like

00:06:32 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 3:

uh you know avarace has you know but so the deal is we'll bring everybody in and then time whomever is the longest yes right last last last head standing um i think so i think that's like

00:06:47 - 00:07:06 | Speaker 1:

or the person that last yeah that goes the longest um what's going on ali hi we got to make contest rules on this one too Lydia because obviously I have no idea like what the you know I know how a football game goes four quarters you know what's up Allie you there yeah I'm here

00:07:06 - 00:07:19 | Speaker 6:

I am wondering if we would be allowed to walk on our hands I was a gymnast and a headstand for as long as I could hold it for would start to hurt my head but if I can walk on my hands I can do

00:07:19 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 1:

do it for a long time so walking so you're saying walking on your hands i think that it has to be you got to stand in place though like i don't want you i don't know i think you got to be like in

00:07:29 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 6:

place i mean yeah that definitely makes it more difficult i feel like people would opt for the

00:07:34 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 1:

headstand then so the headstand is a headstands easier you say than doing a hand than doing a

00:07:40 - 00:08:03 | Speaker 6:

handstand i don't know i some people have like really really good balance and core strength to be able to stand for a long time on their hands without walking yeah i probably i can't do it as long like i definitely could do it for a little bit but i probably would opt for the headstand because i could i think i could do that longer and i would endure the pain in my head for the

00:08:03 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 4:

lion's ticket yeah if they allowed movement though with uh the handstands if you can relieve that pressure off your wrist i used to be able to do it for ever really like 10 minutes god

00:08:14 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, there used to be, like, handstand contests at the end of gymnastics meets. And they'd go on for, I mean, people could be up there for more than five minutes.

00:08:24 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 4:

You'd actually try to hit other girls over in the contest. Yeah.

00:08:28 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 3:

So we've got to put that into our contest rules. We've got to figure that out.

00:08:31 - 00:08:42 | Speaker 1:

We're going to figure this out. Hang on one second, Allie, because if you want to be in this contest, this might be an interesting one for you. Aaron, what's up? It's Mojo in the morning. Would you want to try to win these tickets? Go see the Lions, courtesy of House of Hummus?

00:08:42 - 00:08:57 | Speaker 2:

I absolutely would love to. do that yes can you do a headstand i mean i've been working out for some time and i'm gonna be uh practicing for the next three days so okay yeah i'm gonna tell you something right now this

00:08:57 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 1:

is definitely not a contest for fat guys like me how about it how about a buffalo wing eating contest all right hang on hang on one second siobhan are you there siobhan i am i think i I would rather swim in a thing of House of Hummus than do this contest. But you want to do this thing?

00:09:16 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 5:

I would do the headstand. I can do that for five minutes plus. Oh, that's impressive.

00:09:23 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 1:

You can do that for five minutes plus?

00:09:26 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 5:

The headstand, not hand, head.

00:09:28 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 1:

What do you do for a living that you're able to do this?

00:09:32 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 5:

I used to be a cheerleader back in the day, but I have four kids, and we're doing it all the time, so put me in.

00:09:37 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my God, man. And you still kept that cheerleader weight then to be able to do something like this?

00:09:43 - 00:09:44 | Speaker 6:

I did.

00:09:44 - 00:09:51 | Speaker 1:

Wow. All right, Siobhan, hang on. We're going to get you in this contest. Hold on one second. These people are crazy. We've got athletic listeners. What's up, Jessica? How are you doing?

00:09:52 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 5:

Hi. Good morning, guys.

00:09:54 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 1:

Hey, what's happening? Would you like to possibly win a nice amount of a gift card? How much is that?

00:10:00 - 00:10:06 | Speaker 4:

gift card again for, Lydia? $1,500. $1,500 gift card to go buy your tickets on the Ticketmaster

00:10:06 - 00:10:28 | Speaker 7:

Exchange for Saturday's game. What's up? I would love to. My husband is a huge fan and has made me a fan, but I was just calling to say that I am not a gymnast, never was, and a headstand is much easier to do than a handstand, and I would love to try it. I used to be able to do it when I was younger. I don't know if I can anymore, but I'd try it. Hey, you got a few days of practice. So

00:10:28 - 00:10:31 | Speaker 4:

Do you think we should do a headstand or handstands then? Should we just make it to one?

00:10:32 - 00:10:34 | Speaker 7:

I mean, I don't know.

00:10:34 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, probably. I think it's got to be at least a headstand. Just to make it fair, I guess.

00:10:38 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 4:

The headstand is what he did.

00:10:40 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, he did a headstand. Now, he didn't use his arms, which is crazy to me.

00:10:45 - 00:10:45 | Speaker 4:

To get up?

00:10:46 - 00:10:50 | Speaker 1:

No, I'm saying like once he was up, he had his arms up at his side. I know. I don't know how the hell he did that.

00:10:51 - 00:10:51 | Speaker 4:

Yeah.

00:10:51 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 1:

I feel like we should have been there very long. Right. So that's what I'm saying. I feel like we should allow you. It has to be a headstand, but we allow you to use your arms.

00:10:59 - 00:11:08 | Speaker 4:

He did also. Did you see how he popped up on his feet, which was amazing after he did that? That was pretty crazy. Shawnee, what's up, Shawnee? It's Mojo in the morning. You a big Lions fan?

00:11:09 - 00:11:11 | Speaker 8:

I am a big Lions fan, yes.

00:11:11 - 00:11:13 | Speaker 4:

So, Shawnee, would you like to be part of this contest?

00:11:14 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 8:

Yeah, I did handstands over the weekend, so I can definitely do it this week.

00:11:18 - 00:11:20 | Speaker 4:

Hey, now, where were you? Is this a romantic thing?

00:11:22 - 00:11:23 | Speaker 8:

No, I just take fitness classes.

00:11:23 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 4:

Oh, you take fitness classes. What fitness class? Is Orange Theory? Those people are crazy in that.

00:11:29 - 00:11:30 | Speaker 8:

Not that kind of fitness class.

00:11:30 - 00:11:37 | Speaker 4:

No. Okay. So you guys have a fit. Wait, what kind of fitness class does handstands and headstands?

00:11:37 - 00:11:38 | Speaker 1:

Like a yoga class? Adult fitness class.

00:11:39 - 00:11:42 | Speaker 4:

Okay. So not Zumba?

00:11:42 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 1:

Were you just confused? Having fun bedroom activities? Is that what you're calling fitness class?

00:11:46 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 8:

There's a pool involved.

00:11:48 - 00:11:48 | Speaker 1:

Oh.

00:11:50 - 00:11:52 | Speaker 8:

Okay. You're taking pool class. Yeah. Yes.

00:11:53 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 4:

All right. No leaning against the pole, though, Shawnee. We don't want that happening.

00:11:57 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 8:

That's fine.

00:11:58 - 00:12:40 | Speaker 4:

That's fine. All right, hang on one second, okay? This is amazing. Sure. How come there's no guys named Gus that have entered this contest so far? I'm looking for, like, I want a guy. I want a guy like, hey, Mojo, this is Gus, the pipe fitter. I want to do this contest. There's going to be, by the way, the most physically fit people in this section for this contest because of how House of Hummus is doing this thing with us. All right, get in touch with Lydia if you want to be part of this contest. Friday morning is when we're going to do it, and we're going to be giving away a $1,500 gift card so that you can buy tickets to Saturday's game, the Lions versus the Washington Commanders. It is going to be on primetime Saturday night, so get ready for that.

00:12:40 - 00:13:08 | Speaker 2:
