00:01:06 - 00:01:21 | Speaker 9:

It is the Mojo in the Morning show. Good to have you guys with us. All right. You got to call us up and tell us in this one here. Topic is coal for Christmas. Mojo in the Morning show.

00:01:22 - 00:01:30 | Speaker 4:

We've all heard that threat about Santa leaving coal in your stocking, right? I think all of our parents do this. Do they currently do that? Shannon, do you still do that with the kitties, Mike?

00:01:30 - 00:01:31 | Speaker 5:

I just say Santa.

00:01:31 - 00:01:32 | Speaker 4:

Do they know what coal is?

00:01:33 - 00:01:36 | Speaker 5:

It's so funny. Because it's still in a lot of the old shows. I just say Santa's not going to come.

00:01:37 - 00:01:38 | Speaker 4:

I haven't used coal. Wow.

00:01:39 - 00:01:40 | Speaker 5:

Well, what's the difference, coal or nothing?

00:01:40 - 00:01:47 | Speaker 4:

Well, I don't know if it's worse. I mean, coal is kind of like Santa's rubbing your face in it. Like, oh, I'm going to put something in your stocking. Psyche.

00:01:47 - 00:01:53 | Speaker 7:

I told my kids that they were getting coal. I told Cecily who was getting her coal once, and she said, good, Daddy. We can use it for your grill then.

00:01:53 - 00:01:58 | Speaker 6:

And I said, oh, yeah. She is the sweetest girl. She looks for the positives and everything.

00:01:58 - 00:02:02 | Speaker 9:

Yeah, well. Oh, she was being a smarty? I think so, yeah.

00:02:02 - 00:02:23 | Speaker 4:

Well, maybe it is a generational thing, because one of my neighbors, Ty, he told me, and he's kind of my age, but he told me when he was 13, his parents actually gave him coal and nothing else. And so I thought, I'm going to bring this up on the air and ask if there's anyone listening who just never got some, like they got nothing for Christmas one year. Because you talk about emotionally scarring.

00:02:23 - 00:02:24 | Speaker 5:

Yeah.

00:02:24 - 00:02:42 | Speaker 4:

I mean, it's one thing to fake them out and then give them their gifts and maybe make them think for five minutes. But he said he was being a real jerk to his brother and sister, and he was always misbehaving. His parents constantly reminded him that he would get coal if he was bad, but he never believed it would happen.

00:02:43 - 00:02:53 | Speaker 9:

You know what we need to do? We need to look for what is the modern-day equivalent of coal nowadays. Yeah. Like, what would be that? We'll have to figure out if there's something more different that should be used as an analogy.

00:02:53 - 00:02:57 | Speaker 4:

We gave all the spam bots your phone number for Christmas.

00:02:59 - 00:03:05 | Speaker 9:

Russell, can I grab this one? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Russell, hi. Hi. How are you doing, Russell?

00:03:06 - 00:03:10 | Speaker 2:

I'm doing great. Great morning. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning.

00:03:10 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 9:

Yeah, good. Doing good. Did you get cold for Christmas?

00:03:13 - 00:03:28 | Speaker 2:

I did not, but my dad used to work for the railroad when I was a kid. And to tease us, he, in hindsight, he brought home a piece of coal for my grandfather as a gag gift.

00:03:28 - 00:03:32 | Speaker 4:

Oh, really? Okay. So that's probably floated around in some stockings over the years.

00:03:32 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 9:

That's a good one. By the way, Russell sounds like he got weed for Christmas.

00:03:36 - 00:03:54 | Speaker 4:

Well, I just want to give you the end results of Ty's Christmas because his siblings got gifts Christmas morning. He got none, just a rock or coal or whatever it was. And then he thought, well, surely they're just holding back. They never gave him anything. No. Never. That whole Christmas, he got no gifts.

00:03:54 - 00:04:00 | Speaker 5:

How could you do that as a parent? Even if you were trying to teach a really huge lesson, that is just, that's bad.

00:04:00 - 00:04:01 | Speaker 9:

Dawn?

00:04:02 - 00:04:02 | Speaker 1:

Hi.

00:04:02 - 00:04:04 | Speaker 9:

Hey, Cole for Christmas. Did you get it?

00:04:05 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 1:

No, but when my youngest daughter was like nine, maybe eight, she started to question whether there was real Santa. I think she probably knew. But anyway, she asked for a lump of coal. That's all she asked for for Christmas.

00:04:20 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:04:21 - 00:04:25 | Speaker 1:

Trying to test stuff, I guess. And so...

00:04:25 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 9:

Santa brought her a lump of coal?

00:04:26 - 00:04:27 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:04:27 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 9:

Yeah.

00:04:28 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 1:

Well, it was... I actually... I was just going to wrap up some charcoal. Yeah. And my husband's like, no, this has got to be... This has got to be, you know, legitimate.

00:04:38 - 00:04:38 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:04:38 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 1:

So my father-in-law found... It looked like a lump of coal, and it was in a little red bag. And it said, ho, ho, ho, someone was naughty.

00:04:48 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 9:

Oh, I like that. Ho, ho, ho, you get your cull.

00:04:51 - 00:04:53 | Speaker 4:

Imagine these days you can just get everything on Amazon, even the bad stuff.

00:04:54 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 9:

We should do doggy doo-doo, like those little doggy bags. What's up, Sam? Hey.

00:05:00 - 00:05:01 | Speaker 5:

How you doing?

00:05:01 - 00:05:08 | Speaker 9:

So I got a good. I got a bucket of coal, but it was actually black licorice. Oh, I've seen that.

00:05:09 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 7:

I've seen they sell that.

00:05:11 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 3:

That it would be worse. Yeah, yeah.

00:05:14 - 00:05:18 | Speaker 5:

I love black licorice. I love that. You're the only one. What's up, Dee?

00:05:19 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 7:

Good morning, guys. Can you hear me okay?

00:05:21 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, I got you.

00:05:23 - 00:05:26 | Speaker 7:

Awesome. Super excited. I will be at the concert tonight.

00:05:28 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 8:

We'll see you later. I called with Madison. They had the hilarious line for the Backstreet Boys. I called last week.

00:05:36 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 6:

Oh, okay.

00:05:37 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 8:

But my great-nephew, these kids are hilarious. I picked him up from school yesterday. He's about six. He said that his classmate touched the elf on the shelf and told him that she didn't believe. His response to her was, well, I guess we know what you're getting from Santa, a whole bunch of coal.

00:05:55 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 5:

Oh, okay. And Santa better follow through on that Just to make sure, right?

00:06:00 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Man, the poor kid's going to be sweating for a month.

00:06:03 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. Thank you for the call.

00:06:05 - 00:06:06 | Speaker 3:

See you later.

00:06:07 - 00:06:14 | Speaker 5:

I appreciate it. It's going to be fun. Nicole says that her son is getting coal this year. You're going to actually follow through on that?

00:06:16 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 9:

I am, yes. He had suspended, been suspended about five times this year from school.

00:06:21 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 6:

Oh, boy.

00:06:21 - 00:06:34 | Speaker 9:

And he thinks I'm joking about it. I have a few things put away, but on Christmas morning, he will be seeing Cole. I love it. And then maybe the next day, he'll get a couple things. Wow, you're going to wait all the way until the next day.

00:06:35 - 00:06:41 | Speaker 3:

Unbelievable. Well, the problem is, if you don't follow through on those threats, and the kids know, there's no consequences. No, it's a problem.

00:06:42 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 5:

Wow.

00:06:43 - 00:06:46 | Speaker 3:

But it is a big threat to throw out there to cancel Christmas.

00:06:46 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 5:

You are, by the way, the mom. You're the mom that turns the car around when you say, I'm going to turn the car around if you guys don't stop that.

00:06:53 - 00:06:56 | Speaker 9:

Oh, yeah. I pulled the car over. we've sat on the side of the road for our staff.

00:06:56 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 5:

Did you really? Oh, my gosh. Well, have a Merry Christmas. Take care of yourself. Thank you, too. Bye, guys. Bye.

00:07:03 - 00:07:07 | Speaker 3:
