so uh we're gonna do a topic here right now that involves babysitter involvement and if you are a babysitter or i don't know like maybe a nanny or whatever it is in the rich areas of town we want you to get ready to participate with us if you have the kids in the car with you you got to make sure that they don't realize you're talking about their family when you're doing this right because we've had this before where all of a sudden we're talking about babysitting stuff and crazy stuff at people's homes and then i'm like wait the kids are in

00:02:19 - 00:04:29 | Speaker 2:

the car with you uh what's going on well i had my sweet babysitter abby you know abby mojo she's she's linda's daughter yeah um we love her and so she lucy's still in school she's finishing school on friday but my little guy my six-year-old smith is is home right now his summer has already started so abby was watching him for me yesterday and i had just a crazy day so she was at my house for like a good chunk of the day starting at 5 a.m. And like I have said many times, my kids are obsessed with YouTube. God help me. And so that is all that is ever on any TV. Well, for whatever reason, the newest TV that I got in my house, like the most recent TV I purchased, I don't know if you guys have experienced this, the controller isn't controlled by batteries. You have to either charge it like with a plug or it you flip it over and the light will charge it it has like a little solar thing on the back so there's no putting batteries this is like this new thing um and so smith was watching some youtube video about prime water or this prime drink whatever the heck it is and the remote went to spit and would not work anymore and so sweet abby had to watch that same video about prime water blasting by the way because my kids are like 80 year olds and they listen to the tv so loud blasting for four hours over and over and over and over again now you ask she could just go up to the tv and turn it off nope you can't because the tv is mounted on my wall and the wires are hidden so she couldn't take the tv off the wall and get into this little box to actually turn it off. That's when I go into the garage and I find the breaker box and we're just flipping off power to the house. I came home and she looked like, like she looked like so disheveled and she's like, Shannon, I think, I think I'm going to lose my mind. I have been watching this same YouTube video on repeat for the past four hours.

00:04:29 - 00:04:45 | Speaker 6:

That's what we did to those people in Guantanamo Bay. It's torture. It is torture. The 9-11 hijackers or whatever. Like, yeah, they put them there. And then they play like M&M's Lose Yourself over and over and over again or something like that.

00:04:45 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, she goes, we went outside for a little bit, but then he wanted to come back in and play with his Legos. So there was no getting away from it.

00:04:50 - 00:04:57 | Speaker 6:

All right, so is the topic here this morning, complain about the people you babysit for? Or what do you want to do?

00:04:57 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 2:

Or babysitters' worst nightmares. I don't know.

00:05:00 - 00:05:01 | Speaker 1:

I don't know where we should go with this.

00:05:01 - 00:05:47 | Speaker 7:

You know, because I always do love when babysitters will call up with a little confessional of stuff that's going on at home because they know a lot of what's going on. And I will say this to any person that is listening that has a child that has to be in the care of somebody that maybe is not a family member. You better pay them well because you're not paying them to watch your kids. You're paying them off to not talk about you. That's pretty much what you're paying them off for. So make sure that those guys are well taken care of and that they, you know, they know that they're appreciated. Get them a remote control that doesn't have to be solar powered. I never heard of that before. I hate my Apple TV box. The fact that I have to actually, I can't just change the batteries in it. I got to plug it into like I plug in my phone.

00:05:47 - 00:05:57 | Speaker 1:

Right. And that has this option too. It does. And I was looking last night. For the life of me, don't know where the little charger thing went. And it's a special one. It's not like I can use my iPhone one or whatever.

00:05:58 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, I'm telling you, I think that the person that's going to be the genius, and I know we have Amazons and we've got all the different devices where you can just pretty much tell it. The person that's going to be the genius with a television is going to be the person that sits there and goes, okay, I've invented the television that I can say, put on the NBA game without having to push my remote to talk to text, whatever it is, because that's going to be the genius thing until your spouse walks in the room and says, turn off the NBA.

00:06:28 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 5:

You know, another thing they could do is they could build like a table or something that universally charges. You know how they have those charges? You set your phone on, but that

00:06:36 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 6:

universally charges everything. That's a great idea, Mike. Your phone, your remote, your anything

00:06:40 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 1:

that needs to be- Copyright that, trademark, whatever you need to do. They should put it on

00:06:43 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 7:

your kitchen table. That's because everybody's got their stuff right there. Yeah, yeah. Megan, What's going on?

00:06:48 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 4:

Hi. I just will never forget this time I was 16 babysitting. This really nice family in, like, Birmingham. They, like, lived in this, like, golf course house. It was huge. Anyways, they had this really complicated driveway, and I was backing out of it to leave at, like, 1 o'clock in the morning, and my car got stuck in their bushes that they had just put in.

00:07:09 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 2:

Oh, jeez.

00:07:09 - 00:07:14 | Speaker 4:

So I had to wait all night for a tow truck to come get my car.

00:07:14 - 00:07:16 | Speaker 1:

Oh, no. And you ruined their new bushes.

00:07:17 - 00:07:22 | Speaker 4:

And I ruined their new bushes, and they never called me back. And I was, like, their steady babysitter for, like, almost a solid year.

00:07:22 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 7:

So that was the last time you babysat because you ruined their bushes.

00:07:27 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 4:

Yes, and I will never forget it. It was so embarrassing.

00:07:30 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 7:

That's funny. Thank you for the call. I appreciate it. Judith, what's happening?

00:07:35 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 3:

Oh, my gosh. Worst babysitting ever. Like, this family, like, I needed the money, but, oh, it was horrible. So one time it was 90-degree weather. I said we can play outside for two seconds. We all are outside, four kids. the girl runs inside locks us out so we're running around the house trying to like find a window to open she's running around the house locking all the windows and this goes on for like over an hour i have the baby and he's crying because we're all hot no water so then i like bribe her with a popsicle and finally we are able to get inside and then i give her the popsicle send her to her room for like a time out then she throws a wind like a little chair and breaks the window in her bedroom

00:08:13 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 7:

Oh, my God.

00:08:14 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 1:

I would not be back to babysit that family.

00:08:16 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 7:

How often were you sitting for these guys? Was this a job?

00:08:21 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 3:

All the time. Yeah, it was like a couple times a week. I might have stabbed one of the kids with a pencil accidentally once.

00:08:29 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 7:

Hold on.

00:08:29 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 3:

Hold on.

00:08:34 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 7:

Okay. I was going to start asking questions about the parents. This call just complete.

00:08:39 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 3:

No, they were all sitting on me. They were all sitting on me. I was drawing, and then they all decided to sit on me so one of them could kiss me. And, like, it was, like, his hand. And I'm like, get away. And I didn't realize my pencil was, like, in my hand still. And I'm like, oh, shoot.

00:08:54 - 00:09:03 | Speaker 7:

Hey, real quick, I do need to ask you this. Can you babysit for Mike's kids this Friday night so that Mike and Allie can go to the Taylor Swift concert?

00:09:04 - 00:09:06 | Speaker 4:

He probably doesn't want me there now.

00:09:06 - 00:09:15 | Speaker 7:

So desperate for babysitters, right, Mike? Honestly. Like, just don't stab two out of the three. Yeah, it'll be good. Just hide the pencils. What's up, Emily? How you doing?

00:09:16 - 00:09:19 | Speaker 2:

Hi, good. How are you? Good morning. Good morning.

00:09:19 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 7:

We're talking about the babysitter horror.

00:09:24 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 2:

One time I was babysitting and there was a bat in the baby's room.

00:09:29 - 00:09:35 | Speaker 7:

Oh, jeez. Nope. Nope. So they had a bat in their house that they didn't know about and it flew out of the baby's room?

00:09:36 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, they didn't know. We went in there and we thought it was a bird at first and we were freaking out and then we realized what it was we hid in the closet until they came home and got the bat out how long was that it was horrible we were maybe like 30 minutes it wasn't crazy but we were not coming out of that

00:09:54 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 7:

closet you gotta do what you gotta do i remember we had bats in our attic at one point

00:10:00 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 3:

and I remember that you could hear them like up in the attic at certain points and we had to call the Batman.

00:10:06 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 2:

No, is that the name of the business? I swear to you, it was the pest control guy

00:10:09 - 00:10:24 | Speaker 3:

that came out. And the guy came out and he looked exactly like you would expect a man that goes in attics to look for bats. And he was not like Batman, but he did have the Batman logo on his shirt and he came out to look at it. I love it. Yeah. Thank you for the call. I appreciate it.

00:10:24 - 00:10:25 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, thank you.

00:10:26 - 00:10:50 | Speaker 3:

It's funny because I feel like one of the things that chelsea and i were very smart at and maybe it was because the of the radio thing was we always made sure that the we were pretty good to the babysitters you know i mean and we friended them they become and i think you do the same don't you probably uh we just you got to do it because the problem is if you don't they call up the radio show to talk about how years later you found out
