00:01:30 - 00:02:03 | Speaker 6:

morning brad galley called me yesterday to uh tell me that i am a heartless bastard oh no why he also he also called to tell me that uh he was uh very proud of himself because it was his question that became viral for us he's mad at me because i said that i don't like to see my coach crying after a loss like dan campbell that was a that was one of the posts that we had yesterday up on Instagram and Facebook. But did you know that was Brad's question that got Dan Campbell to cry?

00:02:04 - 00:02:08 | Speaker 8:

What was the actual question that was asked? Because I only saw Coach's response.

00:02:09 - 00:02:24 | Speaker 6:

The question was, hey, Coach, how can you embarrass yourself in front of the NFL right now? Go. I don't know what the question was. All I know is this. I'm calling Brad now Barbara Walters from now on. Because wasn't it Barbara Walters or was it Oprah that used to make people cry all the time?

00:02:24 - 00:02:30 | Speaker 8:

Oh, God, I think. Like both of them. I was going to say, I think it was both of them had their moments. Diane Sawyer, for sure.

00:02:31 - 00:02:38 | Speaker 4:

I felt like Barbara was always kind of a bitch. She just asked stuff that was inappropriate and rude and kind of off limits. She tried to out people all the time.

00:02:39 - 00:02:42 | Speaker 6:

Remember Jerry Maguire in the movie Jerry Maguire? Do you guys ever see Jerry Maguire?

00:02:42 - 00:02:43 | Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah.

00:02:43 - 00:02:47 | Speaker 6:

There was the one. You never saw Jerry Maguire?

00:02:47 - 00:02:53 | Speaker 4:

I only know Show Me the Money and The Human Head weighs eight pounds. I couldn't tell you a single other thing about that movie.

00:02:54 - 00:03:10 | Speaker 7:

Kevin never saw Jerry Maguire. No, we've had this conversation before. It was always on TNT, and who wants to watch movies with ads and stuff? I mean. Kevin, I thought you didn't have cable. You had TNT? I mean, back in the day when Jerry Maguire used to be shown, like, every Saturday morning.

00:03:11 - 00:03:55 | Speaker 6:

Okay, so Jerry Maguire in the movie, he was, Cuba Goodyear Jr., was being interviewed by that guy that used to have a show on ESPN, and he'd be like, you're not going to make me cry. You're not going to make me cry, says it in there. But that's Brad Galley now. So Brad Galley is the crier. He's the guy that will make you cry. But he says to me, he goes, you know, it was like a pin drop could happen in the press room when Dan did that. He got emotional. Everybody, like, that must be like the big thing with these reporters where if they can get the coach to get the sound bite, that's the soundbite that everybody uses, then you get the bite that everybody's all excited about.

00:03:55 - 00:04:10 | Speaker 8:

We should do a bit with Brad because I feel like he knows all of us pretty well where he comes in and interviews us and sees if he could get us to cry with a question that he asked. Get us to cry? Yeah, because he got Dan Campbell to cry. Okay.

00:04:10 - 00:04:31 | Speaker 6:

Lydia, call Brad up right now and see if Brad will answer our phone. And then Brad's got to talk to each one of us or ask us a question. and see which one of us gets emotional off of the question that he asks. Because people were making a lot of noise over the fact that they thought that I was heartless over thinking that Dan Campbell shouldn't be crying at a press conference.

00:04:31 - 00:04:33 | Speaker 7:

I mean, they weren't wrong.

00:04:34 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 6:

But maybe it's not Dan Campbell. Maybe it's Brad Galley that just makes you cry, gets you emotional and stuff, you know? That's the guy that can do it. The other story that I thought was funny yesterday that went viral, did you see the, or this I guess happened over the weekend, did you see the video of the mayor of Philadelphia who didn't know him?

00:05:00 - 00:05:13 | Speaker 1:

to spell the word ego yes oh god i just saw it listen we've got to do this let me hear you all say e-l-g-s-e-s-e-go

00:05:13 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 4:

get get the buzzer sound effect from our contest of the misspelling thing go go ahead she spells

00:05:22 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 1:

us wrong. Listen, we've got to do this. Let me hear you all say E-L-G-L-D-S Eagles!

00:05:33 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 3:

Let's go birds! It's okay to just stick with the birds. It is okay.

00:05:38 - 00:05:44 | Speaker 4:

It's hysterical. That is so funny. It's the worst though. You're the mayor. You're the mayor of the city.

00:05:44 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 3:

How should she go straight to L, though? I don't know. How do you skip two letters? Oh my

00:05:50 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 4:

God. That is so funny. uh lydia has been calling uh brad he's not answering our phone that will make me cry if you don't if you don't pick up our phone call brad and i give you all this oh he's there is he brad galley brad how you doing brad what up brad i'm great i'm great good morning good morning good morning good morning brad so here's the deal we're gonna do a contest here right now because you are the new Oprah Winfrey of Detroit sports where you can make people cry by just asking a question. I would like you to talk to each one of us. You can ask each one of us a question, and whichever one of us gets, you know, you get to cry, then you win a prize or something. I don't know. Can you do that?

00:06:43 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. You know, what I learned from my Aunt Oprah is it's got to come from the heart. It's got to come from a buildup of a real place. So being put on the spot like this, it's got to feel authentic. So you want to start with you? Because I think I know you're the best.

00:06:58 - 00:07:01 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, go ahead. Go ahead, Brad. This is the legend, Brad Galli.

00:07:03 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 2:

When it's freezing out like this, my friend, and you do get that time to get away and head south to Florida, and you fly down and you think about everything you've done as a father and you get in your car and you turn on the radio and you hear your son's voice as someone who's followed in your footsteps but is doing his own thing on the radio and set a name for himself. You are such a bastard.

00:07:30 - 00:07:31 | Speaker 1:

That's good, that's good, that's good.

00:07:31 - 00:07:38 | Speaker 4:

I hate you. I hate you. I got tears in my eyes right now. God, I hate you.

00:07:39 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 3:

That is good.

00:07:39 - 00:07:43 | Speaker 4:

I just want you to know Dan Miller is a better sports guy than you are.

00:07:44 - 00:07:47 | Speaker 3:

I want you to know that. I love Dan. I love Dan.

00:07:47 - 00:08:00 | Speaker 4:

Actually, I'm joking when I say that. I love Brad Galley. Brad Galley. You got me. You are the best, Brad. Oh, you're such a easy guy. Smart man. All right. All right. Try one with Shannon then. You know Shannon well. Come on. Let's see. Let's hear what she says.

00:08:01 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 2:

Shannon, that girls trip you guys take, just you and Lucy. i saw the photos on instagram pop up and you post uh you know however many years ago you first went um but just to see how much she's grown and the conversations you can hold rather than just hey here's a coloring page and we're having a good time in new york but to sit across the table from her and have a real conversation um i don't know what kind of emotions does that bring out you and the growth that the two of you have had on that trip that's become I'm so real for you.

00:08:32 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 4:

Look at her crying. She's crying, Brad. This guy's unbelievable.

00:08:35 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 1:

She's a woman. She's a woman.

00:08:40 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 4:

You're such a... This guy's a journalist.

00:08:43 - 00:08:45 | Speaker 1:

That, honestly, I wasn't really expecting that.

00:08:48 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 2:

Marquette University. Marquette University comes from a real place. I know you guys. It's real.

00:08:52 - 00:08:56 | Speaker 4:

Call the journalism department at Marquette University. They did good with this guy.

00:08:56 - 00:08:57 | Speaker 2:

So good.

00:08:57 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 4:

Next up for grabs, let's try Megan on this one. Go ahead, Bray. Oh, good luck.

00:09:02 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 2:

Sorry. I'll keep it simple, Megan. You've worked in a bunch of different places. You made a name for yourself in Ohio. Mojo worked with you, brought you on the show. But he tells me all the time, you're an indispensable part of the show. People love you. He loves you. Oh, he lies. As much as you guys give each other grief. He always tells me and whispers, don't tell her this. I love her. So to be a part of this community in a way that you've become, I don't know. Do you ever reflect back on the last few years of just how much you've grown as a person and as somebody who's meant so much to this town and this radio station and all of its listeners?

00:09:43 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 1:

Nope.

00:09:47 - 00:09:55 | Speaker 2:

Oh, that's great. Hold on, Kevin. I love Dan Campbell. There's a Panay Sewell in that locker room. That's right.

00:09:56 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 3:

I'm Skipper puking in the corner.

00:09:59 - 00:09:59 | Unknown:

There you go.

00:10:00 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 2:

Hold on, is Panay Sewell the guy that you can't make cry? Is he, like, indispensable as far as, like, you know, or, you know, uncriable?

00:10:09 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 4:

The man's made of cement. He is ultimate, just like, oh, my, good luck. I love the guy. Bruiser. Like, people should wear his jersey proudly, but, yeah, there's no sappy music with him.

00:10:20 - 00:10:23 | Speaker 2:

What about Kevin? What about Kevin? Can you make him cry?

00:10:24 - 00:11:06 | Speaker 4:

I don't know if I can make him cry, but, dude, I think it's sweet. whenever I, you know, see you out and about at a Michigan State game or a Pistons game, it's always so funny. I mean, this is so cool. You just – how are you always on? You're the Ryan Seacrest of our town. You're always doing something. And it always comes back to fatherhood with you. So I just wonder how cool it is for maybe, like, your kids' classmates to come up and high-five you at a game, to see you at a game, and realize the impact you're making, not just in this town with a microphone, but as a father on your son and everything in the relationship the two of you have, cheering on some of his favorite teams, knowing that his dad is the voice in the arenas for some of those players and those teams?

00:11:07 - 00:11:20 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, great question, man. First off, man, got to give all glory to God. Without him, none of this would be possible. You know, when I look in my son's eyes, not only do I see him, but I try to look through him. And when I look through him, I see myself.

00:11:20 - 00:11:21 | Speaker 3:

And I see myself looking.

00:11:21 - 00:11:34 | Speaker 2:

Wait, what was the question you asked Dan Campbell that got Dan Campbell emotional?

00:11:35 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 4:

I won't take credit for it. It's just that's who he is. And I think all I did was just I picked the right key in the crowd to unlock what I think he wanted to get out anyways. Someone had already asked him to explain and look back on the season. And I just said, can you look back on the journey with the people around you and how tough it's been? You know, you guys go 15-2, but is it tough to put into words the journey of everything that you've been through as a group? And that's when he just lost it, thinking about all the guys.

00:12:01 - 00:12:11 | Speaker 6:

You are so good, Brad. Brad, please do not leave us for GMA or the Today Show. I swear you're going to get scooped up by one of these major national shows.

00:12:12 - 00:12:14 | Speaker 4:

This is home, man. We love working here.

00:12:14 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 1:

Question for you, because I think in a world right now where everybody wants to ask the question that's going to go viral, you just said something very interesting. I'd love to get your thoughts. Is it less about you asking and coming in with a preconceived notion and question, trying to get a response, and more about reading the energy of the person that you're asking the question to? Like, how do you go about deciding that?

00:12:37 - 00:13:26 | Speaker 4:

A little bit of both. Lions fans were frustrated at the end of that game, mad even, not understanding how to deal with it all. But it's a collective effort we have to make in that room to try to get answers to why did you pick that play on third and one when Goff fumbled it, but also how the heck did this 15-2 team just lose to also, you know, how do you sum up everything that just went wrong? So there's a responsibility to it, but also, yeah, you've got to read the person, man, because, like, Goff was tapping the table and didn't want to talk and was very short with his answers, and you could just tell the dude wanted to burst out in emotion, but it's just not who he is. yeah so yeah you have to read the room but you also get the answers that that fans want i'm not a hot take guy i'm not mr i gotta have the question that's there and blah blah blah blah but i just try to unlock those moments for people to get closer to their favorite players or coaches

00:13:26 - 00:13:46 | Speaker 2:

that's amazing that's seriously that makes total sense i mean the sports talk radio guys that all their goal is is to piss these guys off your goal is just to get their heart their answer from their heart you know um hey real quick uh not brad galley is on the phone too oh my god is this

00:13:46 - 00:14:07 | Speaker 5:

not brad galley on the phone with us right now this is bad galley bad yeah i have a question for you mojo um if you could go back to that pivotal day at i heart when the ribbon cutting ceremony, and you weren't invited to that.

00:14:07 - 00:14:08 | Speaker 6:

Oh, my God. This is so good.

00:14:08 - 00:14:24 | Speaker 5:

You know, after the 25 years you put into this company, the 18, I think it was like 18 to 25-hour surgery that you had on your heart, and I heart snubbing you during the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Now you're making me pissed off. Now he's pissing me off.

00:14:25 - 00:14:42 | Speaker 2:

Bad Galley has got me on this one here. Oh, my God. Brad, do you know that Bad Galley, otherwise AKA known as Misfit Victor, all he wants to do is hang out with you at one of these card shows that you go to on the weekend?

00:14:43 - 00:14:54 | Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah, man. We got to get out there. You should get out there. Victor's always commented on my Facebook page, Brad Galley, WXYZ. So come there and we can always hang out with the conversation between Victor and Brad.

00:14:55 - 00:14:56 | Speaker 5:

Brad, I have a card for your collection.

00:14:57 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 4:

What is the card? What do you got? Yeah.

00:15:00 - 00:15:21 | Speaker 2:

What is it? That's the next time we'll jump on. What is it, though? Tell me. It's a Steve Eisenman ingrained upper deck card with the leaf on it from the MVP trophy. There's only 99 in existence. I have 11 of them. Oh, my gosh. One of them.

00:15:21 - 00:15:32 | Speaker 6:

Go on. Come on, man. This is unbelievable. Thank you. All right. Well, listen, you two nerds. We'll talk to you later. These guys are going to retire off of their bars. That's cool. Yeah, go ahead.

00:15:32 - 00:16:05 | Speaker 7:

Can I give one thing to the people out there? We do a seven Newsmaker of the Year every year, and Jared Goff was one of them. We have a 12-minute sit-down interview airing with him Friday night on Channel 7 at 7.30. Wow. It was just Jared and me, and it was a lot about his relationship with the city, the origin of the Jared Goff chant, what the fans mean to him, what he means to the fans, the fact that he's given college scholarships to kids in the city. so it's a lot about the quarterback the man it was pretty good he was pretty open afterwards he's very sarcastic he goes you did a good job you actually asked me some new questions i don't

00:16:05 - 00:16:36 | Speaker 6:

get a lot of those right now wow that's a huge deal that's great brad i i heard i heard this through a very good source that uh they're doing the i guess the nfl has been following jared around all year and videotaping him and the rumor has been that he might have to move because his the the fact that his house was shown so much in this thing that it might be a little too much So I've heard that from a couple of people, but I hear he's just an amazing guy. So that's awesome to know that you guys got it. 7.30 on Channel 7, WXYZ.

00:16:37 - 00:16:38 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, Friday night. It's going to be good.

00:16:39 - 00:16:56 | Speaker 6:

Stream it on them if you're in Grand Rapids, Toledo, or around the world right now. Thanks, Brad. We'll talk to you later, buddy. We love you. Brad Galley, everybody. This guy deserves a raise. Call Mike Murray. Tell Mike Murray you have a new agent. It's me. I'm representing you in your next negotiations.

00:16:57 - 00:16:59 | Speaker 7:

I love you guys. I'll talk to you soon.
