You ready to go? Are we ready to help out this family? Absolutely So we received a bunch of letters about this beautiful family and about this young man who his life was taken too soon. Imagine being parents of a 12-year-old and losing your 12-year-old son.

Yeah, you say young man. I mean, he was a child.

And this morning's Breaking and Entering Christmas wish is just going to try to bring a little bit of hope back to this family's life, knowing how much of a struggle that this has to be for them. The letter writers are there with you, right, Mike? Yes, Kim is standing right next to me. Perfect. Yeah, and Jason there too. Hey, Jason, what's happening? How are you? Hi, guys.

We have, right now, you guys, we have a, I want to say, an offense and a defense for NFL teams right now. We have a crowd, an absolute crowd in the street right now.

And this is all these people who have come together for this family knowing how much this has got to be the most unreal time going on for them. To lose somebody as young as 12 years old, but to lose them just before Christmas has got to be just brutal. So, Kim, get the letter ready. We're going to be doing that here in a second. and KP is going to dial up right now and we're going to be making a phone call here. So let's do it. Hey, Carla and Tyler, it's Mojo and Spike, Shannon, everybody here from the Mojo in the Morning show. hello how are you guys we're sorry to call you so early but we do a thing called breaking and entering christmas wish and we receive letters every single year about special families in our listening area uh-huh and we receive countless amount of letters about you guys oh my gosh and one of those letters we picked up because i started recognizing some of the names that were in this letter, and I want to have you just listen to them. They're going to read it to you, okay?

Okay. Dear Mojo in the morning, my name is Kim Jita. On behalf of myself and Jason Gendro, we would like to nominate the DeBoard family for breaking and entering Christmas wish. This family suffered the loss of their oldest son, Anthony. He was just 12 years old. He was sick for over a week with what they now know was parainfluenza 1, which is a strand of the flu. He went to urgent care for shortness of breath. He was treated with a nebulizer, inhaler, and steroids. Shortly after returning home, he suffered an acute and catastrophic asthmatic attack, likely flared by this flu virus. Anthony collapsed and was immediately given CPR by his father He went into respiratory arrest, then cardiac arrest Anthony was put on life support for days to come His mom and dad, Carla and Tyler, faced unimaginable decisions Decisions no parent should have to make Anthony was called home on November 4th of this year His organs were donated to Gift of Life Anthony truly saved other children's lives His family's purpose now is to give back to the community and the world that has so graciously walked with them Thank you for considering such a wonderful family during such a horrible time for them Oh, and by the way, Mojo, Anthony's favorite holiday was Christmas, so this would be so fitting. What a horrific tragedy. But what a beautiful thing came of it that you know that your little voice saved so many other people's lives, right? yeah yeah yeah yeah

Tyler and Carla can you tell our listeners and all of us about Anthony tell us what kind of a young man was this this unbelievably beautiful boy yeah he um I mean you know for 12 years old

He just lived such a fulfilled life, and he was, you know, he went every day to the fullest, and just, you know, I have a kid special, but, I mean, he was, like, really, really special to us, and he meant the world to us, and he loved baseball, he loved sports, he loved school. Like, he just, he lived every day to the fullest. And we just, you know, we miss him terribly, obviously.

Yeah. I'm going to tell you, he touched so many lives because we know this with all the letters that were sent to us and just the different people that were sending him, even kids his own age that were right. writing letters, wanting to grant a wish for you guys. I mean, it's hard enough getting a 12-year-old to do their homework, let alone write to a radio station. You know what I mean?

Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, he just had such an impact on so many people. Just a 12-year-old, you know, he just, he was just so I don't know I mean

he just I don't know we call him our angel on this earth and just the way he's brought so many people together in this I don't know in this tragedy it's like that's just what his purpose in life was he was always bringing people together and looking out for others

Well, he's bringing people together this morning because we have a ton of people that are outside of your home at this very moment.

Yeah, whether you want them to be or not, they're there.

Carla and Tyler, We want to make sure that you guys don't have to worry about Christmas this year. In memory of Anthony, we want to make sure that his memory is carried on on his favorite holiday.

Absolutely.

And we want to make sure that we take care of you and also take care of his sister and his brother and provide everything that you guys would need for Christmas.

Do you see all that stuff out there? Are they starting to bring it in? Yeah. Yeah.

Oh, my goodness. We got so much stuff. Would it be all right if we brought all these presents in? Of course. Oh, my gosh. All right.

All right, everybody, get some work going while we tell you everything that we got for you guys, okay?

Now, are Anthony's twin siblings there, are Taylor and Gabriel still home?

They're twins right now, yeah. Oh, okay. That's okay.

So this is going to be a great surprise. We have so many toys for them.

We know being an 8-year-old and all the things that are cool to buy for 8-year-olds, we got for them.

Lots of Squishmallows, Mom and Dad, okay, are coming in.

We also understand that baseball is still a love and a passion for your entire family. So we made sure that that was a passion that everybody was going to get to enjoy. so we provided a whole bunch of really cool baseball stuff and we also provided some really cool experience stuff for you guys we knew that tyler was such a uh or anthony was such a uh a fan of uh the tigers that we reached out and we ended up getting tickets so that you guys could go and see the Tigers play against the Boston Red Sox on April the 8th with a special message on the scoreboard in memory of Anthony for the DeBoard family.

That'll be a great day. And we took care of everything, parking, food, tickets. So you are totally covered there.

Anthony's name is going to be in on that scoreboard because we knew that that one dream of his was that he wanted to play for the Tigers one day.

family here we're here to grant you a christmas how does that sound Yeah, yeah, I'm like in shock right now.

I don't, Carly, Carly, you're a teacher.

We're getting messages right now sent to us on text messages from listeners that are saying that they want to tell you that they love you. They love Mrs. DeBoard.

We got you. In addition to all sorts of stuff for yourself, all sorts of stuff for your classroom, so you're taken care of there. Tyler, we understand that you needed a new laptop, so Xfinity is giving you a new laptop. We also wanted to make sure that grocery shopping is not on your mind right now. Yeah, this is so unbelievable, and we've been so touched. But it's like the way this just continues is, I don't know, it's no work. We're just so grateful. We couldn't get through this without you guys.
