all righty it's mojo in the morning show it's good to have you guys here with us Happy December. Wow. Look at that. December the 2nd, 2024. On this day, the Lord has made. Let us give joy, rejoice and be, let us, I don't know. What is it? Rejoice and be glad. Yeah, there's something like that. Come on, man. Let's do it. We're going to do Breaking and Entering Christmas Wish. Lydia, is everybody all set? Because this is our first Christmas wish, doing it from new studios. It's our first Christmas wish of this year. We've got to make sure that we're all in positions and ready to go, because I want to make sure this one's the best ever. And I know Lydia pours her heart and soul into this thing. Are we all set?

00:02:28 - 00:02:28 | Speaker 7:

Yes.

00:02:29 - 00:02:39 | Speaker 2:

We are all set? You, by the way, give it up for Lydia. Yeah. Yes, Lydia. Thank you. She has. Hold on. Here we go. I'll give her the bigger part.

00:02:39 - 00:02:42 | Speaker 5:

She pours herself into breaking and entering Christmas every year. That's right.

00:02:42 - 00:02:44 | Speaker 3:

And her mom. Her whole family gets involved.

00:02:44 - 00:02:57 | Speaker 2:

Well, and I'm going to say this, that I don't know the facts on this one here, but if I am at this point, right, we have more letters right now at this point than we did all of last year.

00:02:57 - 00:03:00 | Speaker 7:

Since I've started doing it, this is the most I've ever seen.

00:03:01 - 00:03:17 | Speaker 2:

And it's mojoswish.org. You can send us a letter. That does not mean that your wish is not going to be granted. You would not believe how many people have gotten in touch with us and said, hey, I want to make a donation. Lydia, what was the mortgage company that called out of the blue and said that they wanted to make a donation to us?

00:03:17 - 00:03:20 | Speaker 7:

That was Swift Home Loans owned by Andy Newman.

00:03:20 - 00:03:26 | Speaker 2:

Andy. Thank you. I mean, I know he's going to come in studio, right, and do like a big check presentation.

00:03:26 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, next week.

00:03:27 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 2:

Can we just say how much he gave just because I was blown away by this? I've heard Andy's commercials on the radio and stuff, and I've gotten a chance over the years to hear about him. I've never gotten a chance to personally know him until this. How much money did they donate?

00:03:44 - 00:03:46 | Speaker 7:

$50,000. What? Are you kidding me?

00:03:46 - 00:03:48 | Speaker 2:

Oh, man.

00:03:48 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 7:

That's amazing. Wait, is that our biggest donation to date so far this year?

00:03:52 - 00:04:43 | Speaker 2:

I believe so. Yeah. Wow. Isn't that crazy? Thank you. Yeah. And more keep coming in. And I'm going to say this to you. The $50,000 donations are fantastic. But literally when little kids call us up or their parents call us up and say that my son has been saving money up and he wants to donate to a charity he's been doing all kinds of returnable donations and stuff like that and we get a kid that will call us up and say that he's got $7.29 or something like that I will say, why could you not get $7.50 I will say that's awesome it's amazing, it's just unbelievable that we get people that care that much and they're caring about you and they're caring about all of us to make sure that we all have a nice Christmas All right. KP's hosting this year out on the streets. KP, you got to be quiet when you're out there. I'm sorry. So I got to be quiet, too. Hi, KP.

00:04:44 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 6:

Hi, guys. How are we? What are we doing? Just waiting?

00:04:47 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, we're going to get going. Are you in position? Are you ready to go?

00:04:51 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 6:

We are. We have about 30 people standing outside of this house right now. And all of these people have been touched by Shannon.

00:05:00 - 00:05:02 | Speaker 1:

Uh, she's been a nurse for over 15 years.

00:05:02 - 00:05:17 | Speaker 2:

Wow. And wait, so, uh, you were worried this morning. You're like the promo staff, they only scheduled one promo person, uh, Alyssa to be there with you. And we were worried about this. You know what? God does amazing things. He brought 30 people there to be there, uh, for today.

00:05:17 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 1:

Yes. All right. We're very much supported right now.

00:05:20 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 2:

Annie, can we say hi to Annie real quick? Uh, who wrote the letter? Annie. Hey, Annie. Hi, Mojo. I got to tell you, Annie, I'm going to cry just hearing you right now, your voice.

00:05:32 - 00:05:34 | Speaker 1:

You're going to make me cry.

00:05:34 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 2:

Annie, how are you feeling today? Are you excited about what we're about to do for Shannon?

00:05:39 - 00:05:41 | Speaker 1:

I'm super excited. I'm still shocked that this is happening.

00:05:42 - 00:06:01 | Speaker 2:

All right, so here's what I want you guys to do. A lot of times people don't answer phones from out of blocked areas and all that stuff. We're going to dial them up. So we're going to dial home and we're going to dial Shannon and hope that Shannon picks up the phone. Who potentially else could be picking up the phone? Could it be one of the kids picking up the phone?

00:06:02 - 00:06:04 | Speaker 1:

It could be her husband as well, Justin.

00:06:04 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 2:

Okay. All right. So here we go. And we're on Facebook Live, by the way, too, for all who want to tune in and check it out with us. Sounds good. Mojo in the morning, Facebook Live. All right, here we go. Lydia is going to be making a telephone call. KP, mute your phone just for one second. I might have you unmuted in just a little bit, but we're going to call and see if Shannon will answer this early in the morning. Here we go. hello hi is a shannon this is hi shannon it's mojo from mojo in the morning show okay hi hi well i i hate to call you this early in the morning but you sound wide awake and i'm happy about that oh yeah oh yeah no i'm wide awake you got a lot of stuff to get to today i'm sure and we've uh heard about you from not just one source but many sources who tell us that you are an amazing person and actually one of those people wrote a letter that we're going to have them read to you for our Mojo in the Morning Breaking and Entering Christmas Wish Program.

00:07:09 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 1:

Okay.

00:07:10 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 2:

Take a listen to this. Listen to this love that they have for you.

00:07:14 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 1:

Dear Mojo in the Morning, my name is Annie and this holiday season I'd like to introduce you to Shannon Hasker, a local labor and delivery nurse and faculty instructor at Henry Ford College. Shannon is a mom to two beautiful daughters, 8-year-old Kendall and 11-year-old Brooklyn, a loving partner to her husband, a marathon runner, and an incredible mentor for many new nurses. But most importantly, she is a fighter. On August 28th, Shannon had a colonoscopy that found a mast in her colon. Ultimately, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that has unfortunately spread to her liver, lungs, and abdominal cavity. Throughout her fight, she is still working as a professor and delivering bundles of drawers to parents, while only recently being delivered the worst news of her own life. She is receiving treatment and going to fight this. She will win this fight. We all need her beautiful light and smile in our lives. Mojo, please bring the holiday miracle to behalf of the family this year. Sincerely, Annie.

00:08:14 - 00:08:16 | Speaker 2:

Wow. Great job, Annie.

00:08:18 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 1:

Oh, Annie.

00:08:19 - 00:08:34 | Speaker 2:

that uh that letter is short and sweet and right to the point and it says it all it says that you are a person who has been there for so many people and now it's time for all of us to be there for you

00:08:34 - 00:08:43 | Speaker 1:

oh my god and i don't even know what to say you bring beautiful and happy news to so many people

00:08:43 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 2:

and we're about to bring some beautiful and happy news to you okay That's the knock of a lot of people. I hope you're okay with this.

00:08:58 - 00:09:13 | Speaker 1:

Good morning. I'm followed by the mastermind. This is your crew.

00:09:13 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 2:

Shannon, this is everybody and there's 30 plus people that want you to know that you're going to win this fight and they want to make sure that this Christmas is one less thing that you have to worry about so they want to provide you with your Christmas.

00:09:38 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

00:10:00 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 4:

Oh, my God, this is amazing. I am so grateful for all of you. You're all amazing. Can I just say something for people who aren't on the live?

00:10:12 - 00:10:19 | Speaker 2:

There are so many people there. There are. And this just goes to show, Downriver shows up for Downriver.

00:10:20 - 00:10:20 | Speaker 1:

It does.

00:10:20 - 00:10:23 | Speaker 2:

And that is our first wish of this year.

00:10:25 - 00:10:40 | Speaker 1:

Shannon, you are a fighter. We can see it in just looking at your family and looking at the way that they look at you. And you have been there for so many people, both as a nurse, but also a professor. Where are you a professor at?

00:10:41 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 4:

At Henry Ford College in Dearborn.

00:10:43 - 00:10:53 | Speaker 1:

So you're modeling for more potential nurses, right? More potential people to go in and save lives.

00:10:54 - 00:10:55 | Speaker 3:

That's my hope.

00:10:55 - 00:11:19 | Speaker 1:

00:11:44 - 00:12:02 | Speaker 1:

Shannon, we understand that Christmas was one of those things where it was like, uh-oh, it was coming up on us so fast with all the stuff you've got going on, so don't worry. We took care of everything that Brooklyn and Kendall are going to need for Christmas. We made sure that Santa Claus is arriving early for them this year.

00:12:04 - 00:12:15 | Speaker 2:

She's hugging all of her family and friends right now. All the Uggs, TV, everything that was on their list, we took care of. Oh, my God, you guys, there's too much.

00:12:16 - 00:12:30 | Speaker 4:

Both of them's got a pair of Uggs. You got a new iPad. I mean, this list is long. Thank you so much. Justin. I can't even describe the feeling I'm having right now. I'm so sorry. I can't speak.

00:12:32 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 1:

That special guy in your life, Justin, is a strong guy, but I can see that he's a little teared up, too, huh?

00:12:40 - 00:12:43 | Speaker 3:

Yeah. Yeah, this is amazing.

00:12:46 - 00:13:00 | Speaker 1:

Shannon, we heard through Annie and through all of your coworkers, we heard that there was a lot of things that you wanted to do with your family. And we made sure that all of those things were going to be possible.

00:13:00 - 00:13:37 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, we know that you're a huge fan of Elevation Worship. And they're coming to town in a couple of months. And you are going to be their front and center. Okay? Your whole family is going to be there with you. And we also heard that you wanted some family photos taken. So a good friend of mine, her name is Andrea Papadopoulos from A Poppy Photography, is going to do a whole family photo shoot so that you can have those family photos that you've been wanting. Oh, thank you. And we have massage and spa treatments for you. I mean, just look around. That's all for you.

00:13:37 - 00:13:40 | Speaker 4:

00:13:40 - 00:13:44 | Speaker 2:

00:14:13 - 00:14:29 | Speaker 3:

For me personally, I'll say that Shannon is the reason that I am a nurse today. And she's the one who trained me from becoming a student to becoming a nurse. And I literally follow in her footsteps. It's a hard shoe to fill, but I'm trying my best. It's amazing.

00:14:30 - 00:14:37 | Speaker 1:

Well, Shannon, I want you to know that all of this is just a taste of what you got.

00:14:37 - 00:14:42 | Speaker 2:

You've all been such a huge part of my life, even before all this, but have been such a huge support. And it's been everything that I've needed to get through even these past couple months, but I know to get through everything else that's to come. And I'm grateful for all of you.

Honestly, honestly, honestly, no one wants to think about HIV, but there are things that everyone can do to help prevent it. Things like PrEP. PrEP stands for pre-exposure prophylaxis, and it means routinely taking prescription medicine before you're exposed to HIV to help reduce your chances of getting it. PrEP can be about 99% effective when taken as prescribed. It doesn't protect against other STIs, though, so be sure to use condoms and other healthy sex practices. Ask a healthcare provider about all your prevention options and visit findoutaboutprep.com to learn more. Sponsored by Gilead.
