How are their feet? Well, we'll find out. Here's the deal. So when you do it, when you bring the celebrity up, so run to the front door, grab the celebrity, okay? You'll know who it is, right? We can see it. Keep them outside of the door because we're going to have them talk through the producer box, and we're going to see if we can guess who it is. Oh, okay. All right. So a celebrity at the front door of the Mojo in the Morning Show studios. um what did you play for any other major cities for the majority of your career or was it mostly

in detroit that's a tough question that's a tough question although i think that's going to lead to the answer. Bring him in, studio. Ladies and gentlemen, Calvin Johnson has just arrived into the studio. And Calvin, I apologize. We were in the midst of talking about toes when you were waiting out in front of the building. And his text was great. He's like, hey, I'm waiting for KP out here. He's like freezing out in the cold. But KP was giving us the toe results.

I was like, who is this? What is this number calling me? Little did I know Calvin freaking Johnson calling my phone.

How great is that? How great is this guy? This guy is unbelievable. First off, wow, Super Bowl week, too? So, question for you. Do you go out and enjoy a Super Bowl like this? I mean, if I said, hey, Calvin, let's go to the Super Bowl, you probably know the hookup to get a pair of tickets, right?

Yeah, I can get out there, but.

He's Hall of Fame. Talk right into the microphone. Yeah, talk right into the microphone.

I'm not huge for big crowds, you know. Yeah. Just being out there, it's a mess out there every year. It's a great time, you know, if you're at the right parties and stuff, but I'm over the crowds. If I got a way to make some good coin, you know, I'll go out there. Yeah, because there's always appearances, right? Yeah.

Honestly, you and I probably are more alike than we know because we love being with our families probably more than any of that stuff, right?

And the first year you were eligible for the Hall of Fame, you got right in. Mojo's still waiting on his. He's still waiting.

I was a runner-up. But other places. We still had a party. Very similar. um now moving on to talking about that um do you so when you when you look at do you watch football a lot still or do you yeah do you play fantasy football i'm learning how to play fantasy

i feel bad because by now i should know but i don't know how to play fantasy are you amazed

because i am that most of the fantasy football players are the most out of shape guys that look like me.

I agree. As I'm going around and visiting different dispensaries, it's usually, I hate to last them, but the big out of shape guys are always like, hey, you owe me a lot of money. I appreciate it. Isn't that amazing? I would like to thank you personally. Same, same, same, same.

It's going well? It's a great young industry, man. I love it because there's a lot of young energy in it. Not that the old folks aren't bringing good energy, but it is what it is.

right what is so first off what is the name of your uh your brand it's primitive it's spelled

the regular way primitive but without the e on the end why did you not name it megatron right was there already a megatron or what's the story there was not a megatron it was just i mean that's hasbro's you know i can't really use that yeah that's true place that and make money off of it but we call it a primitive because you think about it you know people have been using cannabis or millennia, so for thousands of years. So by definition, it is primitive.

Yeah. Who gave you the great nickname of Megatron?

Roy Williams. When I was drafted, I came out in 07. I think that's when the first Transformers came out, and it just caught on. Roy started calling me Megatron. I'm like, you know, that's the bad guy, but I guess I could be the bad guy to the defense.

I forgot, by the way, that we had you and Roy Williams as our receivers for the Lions. yep man and was it was wait rory williams was drafted how many drafts before you is it a couple of drafts before yeah because it was wild because i will man i'll never forget you know we've had it's funny we've had a lot of interesting drafts as lions fans we've had a lot of them sometimes first pick doesn't uh work out no but but honestly we've but think i think about this i think about The team that we have. with you and with Matthew, with Sue. I mean, there were so many people on that team. I talked to Dom Riola about this because I still get the opportunity to talk because I coached Dylan, who's going to be a superstar in college, right? I coached him in basketball, and I talked to Dom. I'm thinking to myself, I'm like, man, that was the time, you know? It's like when the Tigers went to the World Series and they lost to San Francisco and the Cardinals and stuff. I'm like, God, did we miss out our opportunity?

It's what you see teams now doing is what you got to do. You got to go all in. When you got the chips in place, when you got the pieces in place, you got to go ahead and go all in like LA did and came and got Matthew. They had all the pieces in place. They had the receivers. They had the D-line.

What did we need? What were we missing? What was the one piece? A running back?

It was a couple pieces. Yeah. It was a couple. Maybe a back. Maybe it was pieces on the back end. We had one or two good pieces back there. We had a good defensive line. And maybe another great playmaker and tight end for Matthew. But we're like two or three pieces away, I feel like. Two or three studs away.

How is Matthew doing, by the way? I know that you guys are still so very close. Is he able to still play? Because I was worried about him with him and the injury. And then there was talk that he was going to retire. And he says he's now going to come back.

I was concerned last year. I talked to him after his back injury. That was real serious. But I talked to him and he said he's coming back. Okay. It's coming back. And I don't think he's going to make that decision hastily. I think knowing Matt, he's going to reference all the people around him, his doctors, his physician, PTs, and whatnot, and make sure that's the right decision for him to make for him and his family.

I did not know until we played this little contest. We got Calvin Johnson in the studio with us. I had no idea Calvin Johnson played baseball.

Yeah, I had to throw y'all off a little bit. I feel like it would have been too late. Where and when did you play baseball? No, it wasn't professionally. I hope you don't know. Yeah. God, you would have the biggest strikes on. I thought I played baseball when I was high school.

What position did you play first base?

I was in the field and I pitched.

Oh, my God. Okay, did you ever get a nickname in Cast Tech before Megatron that you're glad? Cast Tech? No.

Wasn't it Cast Tech? No, Megan. Georgia.

Oh, I got that mixed up. He went to Georgia Tech, right? Georgia Tech.

Did you ever get a nickname in high school that you're glad didn't stick before Megatron? Butterfingers. Butterfingers. Seriously?

Wait, is that like a Michael Jordan thing where somebody tells you that you weren't going to make it And then next thing you know, you're the best in –

Not necessarily. I was just – you know, I was teased by my teammates and everybody around. My sophomore year, I made varsity my sophomore year in high school. And I made some good plays, but I had a tendency to catch a lot of big plays, dropping a lot of big passes too. Wow. And, like, after that offseason, I was like, man, I can't – like, going around school, call me Butterfingers. Hey, Butterfingers. And I was like, okay, I got to work on it.

See, my next question, sir, Ben, do you have your own shoes? Here, put the headphones on them. Mike has a question. Do you have your own shoes? No, no, no. I said that would have been my next question. Oh, that would be your next question. Yeah. That's what I would have asked him. When you were trying to guess who the mystery guest was. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That would have been the best. Yeah. Calvin, I do want to tell you that that catch in the end zone in Chicago at Soldier Field was a catch. I will go down with change rules, right?

Well, the best part was I'm only 5'3", and I felt like a midget. Yeah.

Yes. Kelvin, you do? Yeah. You test all of them? Oh, yeah.

Were you using any of this stuff while you were playing?

Not this particular stuff. Yeah, I use. I consume while I was playing, but obviously not what we have now. You're in the CBD now, too, right? Isn't that right? Correct. We went from, usually it's the other way around. People are starting in CBD because it's the lower barrier of entry. But, you know, we saw a lot of progress in what we're doing, the ability to help. everybody's quality of life and we thought we knew cbd um without the psychoactive part thc being involved there's a lot of uh good things that cbd does yeah cbg a lot of those uh other cannabinoids

um jessica you're uh your baby i have a question yeah go ahead yeah don't i just stepped out i'm getting ready to drop him off to school so i stepped out no that's okay um i was gonna ask him when is he releasing the power drink he's supposed to be doing a uh look at this super

fan is that what is it like are they going to pour that over the winning team

but um yes that's a primitive performance uh we'll have we're starting with two skews uh first would be like an ors which is an oral rehydration solution so you think like liquid iv element have you seen those powder yes yeah exactly so we're adding um obviously vitamins and minerals to those rehydration drinks, but with cannabinoids. So both THC and there will be the ones without THC.

Well, make sure the first color of the drink is Honolulu blue.

We haven't found that yet. I don't know what natural flavor makes blue.

Can I tell you that it's so cool to see these athletes like you and I'm going to use an example and this is a huge compliment I know for you because I know you love him too. Look at Vinnie Johnson. the microwave. And for our younger audience, this guy was the sixth man of the year. He was one of the greatest players to come off the bench ever for the bad boys. He is now probably the most successful Piston ever financially because he has the Piston Group and all the different organizations. But look at these players that sometimes you see these stories about players that kind of squander all their money and move on or whatever. Here's a guy who actually retired early to protect his health and then moves on to a business venture that's making you some great coin. And, man, it's awesome. It's good to see.

You know, latter part of my career, second half of my career, a lot of the guys, you start to see the transition where guys stop thinking about football their entire lives and start thinking about, okay, what's next? But they know this is a very small part of their life. They have a whole lot of life to live after this. So you have to get ready to start putting yourself in place to make some moves after the game because, one, you never know. Like Aaron Foster said, it's scripted. How could it be scripted? Because we never know when our last play is going to be. Not everybody has the opportunity to call it quits when they want to.

I have to tell you, everybody's calling in about your primitive product. Your merch is amazing, by the way. Mojo and I rave about your sweatshirt. True story. And my five-year-old, Smith, loves wearing hats and continuously wears the primitive hat to his nursery school, which is really interesting to try to explain to the nursery school director. It is a religious school as well. So thank you for making a really cool hat. Making waves.

Well, so I kind of feel bad asking this question now after what Mojo just said. But, you know, Calvin, is there any chance you'd consider coming back to the Lions next year so we can win the Super Bowl?

You know what? I'll come back in a, you know, a support capacity.

Yeah. As a fan. As a mentor.

I'll be there to give the players all the support they need.

It's funny because I look at what you did. Did Barry have any – was Barry any influence on you doing that? Because Barry did the same thing, like where you looked at him and said, you know what, look at what he did.

Barry was influenced front, and he didn't even know it just because of who he was. You know, not necessarily for him being around because everybody knew the situation. was going on a lot of the players when we were playing weren't really around the team for whatever reason um which sucks you know because i go to other teams and you see they're flooding the practice field or the facility they have space for them to come in and really do whatever they want to have a good time you know within the means of the team within the um the vision and mission and core values of the team so i think that's important to be able to have those guys for the guys to ask questions to to lean on you know for a lot of different things well i'm going to say

this to you you are uh a really nice guy like i for those that have never had an opportunity and i hope you do get an opportunity to meet this guy you you live up to you live up to the he's my hero like and i know we you you probably don't even want to have like people looking up to you like you're a hero like a superhero but you really are like a you're like if i met batman i would feel hopefully as as proud as meeting you for the first time like batman might slap you in

I'm a huge Jalen Hurts fan because of the adversity, a little bit of adversity that he went through so far.
