We've all seen the headlines. Florida man wrestles alligator in a tuxedo or Florida man sues after finding toenails in his ice cream.

00:00:39 - 00:00:43 | Speaker 3:

It's easy to laugh at the meme, but have you ever wondered about the human behind the headline?

00:00:43 - 00:00:44 | Speaker 8:

Hey, I'm Frankie P.

00:00:45 - 00:00:49 | Speaker 3:

And I'm Amelia. On our podcast, Hidden Florida and Beyond, we're going beneath the surface of the sunshine state.

00:00:49 - 00:00:56 | Speaker 9:

From interviews with real people who make Florida weird. I'm pulling it up. And as I'm pulling it up, I see an arm.

00:00:57 - 00:00:57 | Speaker 8:

Stop it.

00:00:57 - 00:00:58 | Speaker 9:

Come down.

Hidden Florida and Beyond with Mark Wahlberg, May 21st.

00:01:17 - 00:01:36 | Speaker 7:

I'm Mungesha Tikalur and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.

00:01:36 - 00:01:41 | Speaker 1:

I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know.

00:01:41 - 00:01:47 | Speaker 7:

Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Mojo in the Morning Show, 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548, or text 95500 can't do it in front of her parents.

00:02:00 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 2:

Oh my gosh, this is a girlfriend of mine. And actually, I'm not going to say her name because I don't want her mom to get upset with her. She's Chaldean. And I don't know, do you drink at your parents' house, Lydia? Heck yeah, I need to. I'm living with them. Okay. Oh, we love you, Simon. So I didn't know if this was a Chaldean thing, but she her mom is very strict. She lives with her mom. She and her mom doesn't drink and doesn't allow alcohol in the house. So my girlfriend actually just turned 30. And some days after work, she's like, all I want to do is open a bottle of wine and have, you know, a couple glasses of wine. So what she's been doing is she buys wine and she told me she either sneaks it in under her coat or if she's not wearing a She puts it in her purse. She sneaks it up to her bedroom, where she has a wine opener, locks the door, and then sits there and drinks her glasses of wine, all so that she doesn't get in trouble with her mom. And this is an adult. She's literally just turned 30 years old. Isn't that hysterical? That is, well. But lives with her parents, and, you know, that's mom's rule. She's breaking it behind the locked, closed door of her bedroom.

00:03:12 - 00:03:21 | Speaker 5:

Isn't it funny? Because I bet you, well, they're talking about how many kids are moving back, like adult kids are moving back to their parents' houses. and I bet you that happens a lot with weed.

00:03:22 - 00:03:30 | Speaker 6:

Right, because there's still such a stigma for older generations because it's been illegal their whole life, and they don't understand now you can buy it, purchase it.

00:03:30 - 00:03:48 | Speaker 5:

I walked by my son Jacob's room when he was back in for the holidays, and I walked by the room, and it's freezing, and I can't figure out why it's so cold. It's wintertime. It's like, man, it's freezing. And I open up his door. He's got his window completely wide open, the screen off of it. He's hanging out the window, and he's smoking a J.

00:03:49 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 3:

in his room. At least he wasn't doing it in the house.

00:03:53 - 00:04:11 | Speaker 5:

Well, that was the thing because he knows that his brother Joe has gotten in trouble numerous times because it's like, listen, we know they're partaking but we don't want them smoking in the house. Especially with their little brother down the hall who's still illegal to be able to do it.

00:04:11 - 00:04:16 | Speaker 2:

She's like, I feel like such a loser just drinking all by myself in my bedroom!

00:04:17 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 5:

I think that's wonderful. I think that what you need to do is you need to FaceTime her and do a group FaceTime with her and everybody drink together. Anybody do that? Anybody, you know, live or anybody have like a wine fridge in their room or a beer tap in the room? Like we talked this week about country artist Carrie Underwood and how she has kind of a wild closet where she has a washer and dryer in her closet. So she doesn't even have to carry stuff to a laundry room. Well, you know, I would love to have like the the little this little wine fridge like we have here.

00:04:48 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 6:

I had the beer shelf in my shower for when I want to have a shower beer. And then when I moved in the new house, somebody asked me, do you want us to put a beer fridge in your bathroom for showers? I go, how much?

00:05:00 - 00:05:20 | Speaker 2:

an alcoholic do you think i am i don't need a beer fridge and the answer is yes living in the sorority house because everybody or a dorm where you can't have alcohol out so you have to have the fridge in your room so you can keep it in plus people will steal it if it's out in like the main fridge area i don't know reminds me of college yeah well

00:05:20 - 00:06:12 | Speaker 4:

college in your parents house what's up maureen yeah i'm 41 i have to do this i my dad has been really sick so i've been like staying with my parents to help my mom oh and i can't come home even smelling like alcohol my mom will start sniffing because she doesn't drink and say rena have you been drinking and unfortunately i will have to say yes and the disappointment and i'm 41 it's terrible it's so embarrassing yeah and i've also gotten texts from messages of, like, when are you coming home? It's ridiculous. At 41, so I completely empathize with your friend, Shannon, because I will also hide it. I will go to bed at 7.30 in the morning or 7.30 in the morning or 7.30 at night just to get a couple of glasses of wine as well.

00:06:12 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 6:

That's so awesome, though, that you're doing that to take care of your dad, though.

00:06:16 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 4:

Well, I appreciate it. He had heart surgery, Mojo, so he, yeah.

00:06:21 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 6:

How far along is he right now in recovery?

00:06:24 - 00:06:41 | Speaker 4:

Well, he never really recovered. He coded when he was in. Oh, jeez. I'm sure you understand. Oh, my God. But he coded when he was in the ICU and then had a frozen lung afterwards. It's never been the same. Oh, my God. So he coded a new mojo, but, yeah. We'll pray for him. That's a tough go, and that's why I have to drink. Yeah.

00:06:42 - 00:06:48 | Speaker 6:

That's bad. It's tough to see your parents like that. I'm 41 having my parents. Yeah. We'll say a prayer for him. Thank you for the call. We appreciate it. What's up, Casey?

00:06:48 - 00:06:59 | Speaker 4:

hey so i used to i know you guys were hating on fireball the other day but i used to hide fireball in my freezer because my mom came and lived with me for a year when i was getting a divorce

00:06:59 - 00:07:04 | Speaker 5:

and so yeah i would sneak that was she worried like after the divorce you're going to turn

00:07:04 - 00:07:54 | Speaker 4:

towards the drink oh yeah well my mom is like a very christian woman yeah and um she's pure sunshine so i would hide it all the time and then she caught me one time sneaking it in my room she's like what is that i'm like oh medicine okay right and i'm like it's really good mom and she smelt it she's like oh interesting and no joke about two weeks later she's like you think that's good in coffee she like drinks like hazelnut like creamer with like a splash of coffee right so she's like all right i'll she put it in there and she does it every so often when she wants to be like risque and naughty but that's great thank you for the call i appreciate it yeah take care i feel

00:07:54 - 00:08:31 | Speaker 6:

like that the last couple callers are 40 year old women and they're like my teenage son you know what i mean like i like go i wonder if their parents go through their rooms and like empty out bags to see like bottles that are inside of there i told by the way my favorite uh tick tock ever i love this one so much um and i played it for my son the other day and he got very offended when i played it for him but it was my favorite tick tock of this guy hold on a second i'll play it for you because this is perfect for having if you have teenagers at home that are underage stealing your alcohol there it is for all the parents out there that think your kids

00:08:31 - 00:08:39 | Speaker 1:

may be sneaking in your alcohol and you know they're sneaking in your alcohol here's all you got to do pour more stuff into something else and then mix the remainder with laxative and just sit

00:08:39 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 6:

I told Luke, I said, that's going to happen to you. And he goes, knowing me, I'll drink the wrong one. I'll end up drinking the laxative one. What's going on, Donna? Hi.

00:08:54 - 00:09:29 | Speaker 3:

Hi. So I take gummies at night to sleep, but I didn't have any more. So I figured I had a joint to smoke. But my son lives in the other room and my husband's downstairs. So I opened up my window, and I was smoking it out there. And when I was blowing it out the window, it came around to the back. And my son, I was going to hear his door open. And my husband come upstairs, and they're like, is that a skunk? Or what's going on? I love it. I need to sleep, and I can't sleep. I don't have any more gummies.

00:09:29 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 6:

You got busted. You got busted by your kids.

00:09:31 - 00:09:48 | Speaker 3:

I got busted by my kids, yeah. That's awesome. he's in his 20s though so he he knew that we used to do it or still do it so but it was like guess the fumes came around to the back of the that is that is so funny where's the skunk uh

00:09:48 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 6:
