I knew I forgot something. I was meaning after I was listening to Shannon do a weather forecast yesterday to put that little thing in your car that cleans the snow off your windows. When you said that we might have some snow, I was like, crap. Now I just need to figure out where I put it.

It's funny because I have so much stuff in the back of my car that I have no idea why it is I choose that one thing to take out of my car. Like, I think it might be because of psychological reasons, you know, like you psychologically say, all right, I can't drive around with this thing anymore because it's, you know. Well, you're hoping you're going to stop the snow. I don't want to use this anymore. No, I only – well, I usually take it out in July. So it does stay in the car a little bit longer than usual. But then in July, it will end up coming out of my car. Oh, man. I have so much stuff in the back of my car. If you looked in the back, it's all, like, things I want to return.

um stuff that chelsea said you know hey will you pick that up there and you know and do something with that so i just throw it in the back of my car because i figured she doesn't have any say so on my car she's gonna say so on every bit of me except for the back of my uh of my tahoe that's mine and all mine um all right it is the mojo in the morning show your tahoe wouldn't be

yours if you lived in my neighborhood by the way right now why what's going on people's cars are getting stolen left and right really yes it is a big issue right now in my neighborhood when you

were out last week megan was talking about how she feels left out because her neighborhood's getting all these cars broken into except for her car they're choosing not to did your car get

broken into oh not me no no shannon did yours so so this is like the second time that my neighborhood's been hit really bad and last time wes's car got broken into thankfully mine didn't this time. But yeah, we got hit really, really bad this weekend. Tons of people had their cars rifled through. And then a lot of people had their cars actually stolen right from their driveway because not a lot of people park in their garages. I don't think I've ever parked in my garage. I leave my car in my driveway. But I had a police officer show up at my door twice already this week asking for, he's like, I see you have an SCAM sign in your yard. We need the footage on this day from this time to this time and by the way when a police officer shows up at your door you first have a heart attack and then I had the kids home and I was like ooh I should use this I should use this because they've been sassy lately anyway traumatize the children

yes officer I know they've been really bad but please don't arrest them this time

please don't put them in the back of your car But I said to the police officer After I gave him the footage or whatever I'm like how are all these cars getting stolen And in fact one of the stolen cars Because there were a bunch of police officers At the house across the street from me Got dumped in the driveway Across the street from my house

So they stole a car from somebody else's neighborhood

They stole a car from somebody else's neighborhood And then dumped it in the people's driveway Across the street from me So they had to have a tow truck come And get it out They were fingerprinting it It was crazy

Can you see on the Nest cams, can you see somebody going in there? Like, did you get a chance to watch it with them?

So, yes, I could see them coming down the street. But my Nest cam kind of cut off in terms of where you could see, like, right where their driveway is. But they still were able to see the vehicle, you know, come around and come through. But I said to the officer, how in the heck are all these cars getting stolen? And he said it is so common for people to leave their cars parked, unlocked in their driveway with the keys in the cup holder. And so it's easy. It's like you're inviting it to happen. You're asking for it.

It's those key fobs because I think people leave the key fob and they forget that they have it maybe and walk away. Well, no.

He said that a lot of people will do it because they're constantly losing their keys. So they're like, it's just easier to know that it's right there in the cup holder or in the center console. And when they get in their car, they can just turn it on.

I've locked my keys in the car, but I use my app because I have the Chevy app. And I can lock the Chevy app. So I'll leave it just in case sometimes. Sometimes I'll do that.

But then they can just smash the window and take your car.

Well, I guess they can. But here's the thing. I'd rather have them just take it with the key than hotwire it or do anything with the wires causing more damage. You know what I mean?

Even while you're out of a car.

Right. But here's the story. It's a lease, and I'd love to get a new one. No, but here's the story, though. A lot of people, I mentioned this when Megan was talking about hers thing last week. A lot of people are leaving their cars wide open for thieves, basically saying, hey, here's the deal. You know what I mean? Like, I know I might get it back. You know, there's a possibility I might get it back.

So don't damage it.

Yeah, like, I would rather, honestly, like, remember that caller we had last week that had that car that was all muffled, had the really loud noise? The catalytic converter was stolen. That costs you more than your whole car getting stolen.

So does a smashed window to me. This is really embarrassing, but when I was like 20, my car was so old and so out of manufacturing, whatever, that my car doors were unlocked because they couldn't lock at the time. Shocking, I know. Somebody smashed the window to steal nothing out of my car, and it totaled my car.

Wow.

Because it was going to cost more to ship a window from Japan. Then the car was worse.

Yeah.

We've had so many cars stolen from our neighborhood, and the cops always said the same thing. They're like, they don't even make an effort. They come to the neighborhoods because they know those neighborhoods. People just leave them unlocked and leave stuff in them. That's why they come.

Any robbers out there that would like to call us up?

And all of a sudden, she gets in her car, and she's like, hey, did someone, like, rummage through my car and just not put everything back? My mom went to our ring camera, funny enough, which lights up when, like, someone enters, like, any part of our driveway. And she saw two guys discreetly run up to my car. Thank God my car was locked. They couldn't get in, but my sister's was unlocked. And they rummaged through all of it Thank God nothing was stolen Like she didn't have anything valuable in there But we just saw them for two minutes There's like a video where you can actually see them running up to both of our cars Run back into the car and drive away

Yeah, that's crazy My ring cams work like yours do It has to have motion in order to start recording So I wouldn't be able to record unless it was within the motion But anytime that thing goes off Like where it shows that there's motion I look at it Like I always pay attention And nowadays, especially because of stories like this. Did you know that if you leave your keys in your car and it is stolen, and when they recover your car, the keys are in it, your insurance won't pay for any damages done to it?

If the cops find their car, if they recover your car and the keys are in it, they know they stole it.

She pulled up to a 7-Eleven, ran in to get sucked. Okay. Get sucked in the car, and they found it totaled with her keys in it.

Well, that's the thing. They say that that's real common today, too, because people don't want to turn their car off. They want to keep it warm, you know?

And they'll also give you a ticket. Did you know that if you go outside and warm your car up in your driveway and your food are in it, they will give you a ticket for it?

Her vehicle wouldn't start So you know she used a little state farm app and um the tow truck driver came and picked up her car and took what he wanted and

left it wow wow were they able to figure out who it was based on like the tow company

no because so they said state farm uses an app where these tow truck drivers can pay like 200 it's kind of like door dash you get these orders in and you can pick and choose so he had all the information and knew that the keys were left in it so oh wow yeah so um state farm she's fighting with them right now because the keys were left in it because the tow truck driver was supposed to come pick it up and take it to the dealership so now they uh are you know investigating all of

Like 10 minutes, but they had it on video. It was legit, like 45 seconds. Guy stood out of the passenger seat, stood right underneath it.

How is it that Jiffy Lube takes 30 minutes to do an oil change, but the catalytic converter guys can steal it in 10 minutes?

Yep.

Yeah, when I was at the Lizzo concert, they cleared out a whole parking lot across the street. in, like, they said it took less than a half hour to take, like, 20 cars' catalytic converters.

I realize it's very bad, but that's pretty impressive.

Yeah, I mean, they don't know what they're doing.

Those are the guys that did shop class in high school.

But they're also damaging your car. They're not trying to be careful. They're just trying to take your catalytic converter, you know? They don't have to worry about putting it back together.

Do they teach you how to do a catalytic converter?

No, I got my boater's license, and I made a birdhouse and a little wooden car. Useful.

You know what? That sounded like it would be a fun class, though. More fun than chemistry. Does the car thief want to be voices, guys, or just your regular voice?

No, it's not either, man. I'm 32 now, man. When I was like 13, 14, my cousin used to tell me with a vehicle. So if a vehicle had a glow ring, so it was like Toyotas, Hondas, Chevy Impalas, you know, the glow ring that's around the ignition switch could be popped with a flying screwdriver. So we wouldn't take the car and damage it. We were actually, what we call it a mission. We were going across town to go hang out with girls. So we would take the car, go across town, take the car once we were hanging out with the girls and park it somewhere down the street. Oh, my gosh. You're like the Kia boys.

Well, that's the same thing they discovered about the ignition. So this is kind of maybe what might be happening with Shannon's neighborhood. They're joyriding. They're not out to keep the car.

How do you keep your fingerprints from being in the car?

Oh, you can wear gloves. I mean, it wasn't even. And that's sad if you're not even in the system, which I'm not. I've never been arrested. So you're not going to be able to. I mean, I wear gloves. I mean, I watched enough. Look, I hung with bad people when I was a teenager. You're not going to sit here and make any good reason behind this.

But, I mean, I work less. What can we do to protect ourselves? Like, if this is something that, you know, is prominent now, car thieves.

I mean, if you've got a glow ring around your ignition, you're out of luck. So, if you find a new vehicle, for those that are leaving keys in the car, that's not a good idea. And, I mean, the idea of leaving the door unlocked so no one smashes the window out, believe it or not, the little tiny window that's on your vehicle costs more than your actual windshield or your side windows. You'll see a lot of people would just break that window. They are doing that because they're petty, knowing that that's going to actually cost you a lot. Yeah, that's out of pettiness for sure.

What do you drive? Because I'm sure that you drive a car that doesn't get stolen. I wouldn't drive

one if I don't. I have a beat-up vehicle. You can take this vehicle if you like.

I had a friend of mine who's always driven really nice cars, and he's driving cars that are like 10 or 15 years old with high miles on them now and I said why is that and he goes honestly he goes why bother I just need it to get from point A to point B if somebody takes it it doesn't make a difference
