good morning and welcome to the mojo in the morning show happy summer time the uh kickoff the unofficial kickoff of summer i know they say that uh by forecasting they don't say that summer starts until like I think mid-June but I always think that Memorial Day is kind of the kickoff to summer I think everybody's mindset is that especially when our temperatures this week are going to be near 90 we today are going to be 89 for a high they I'm sure we'll hit 90 though I will tell you that I feel like my car said it hit 90 yesterday but But then 90s, as we go throughout the week, it's going to be a beautiful summer week here. And happy summer to everybody. And plan on a lot of good concerts that we're going to give you tickets to. Today, we're also doing Cedar Point tickets. We've got a lot to talk about this morning here and this week on the show. Shannon's taking the morning off. She's going to be back tomorrow. She actually went out west for the holiday weekend and took an extra day, which is good. So with travel and everything, she'll be back tomorrow. So it's myself, Mojo, Shannon out, Mike out for a little paternity leave. And again, what a beautiful baby. We got a chance to see that Sergio, what was his name? Sebastian. It's funny, I'm the worst with names, and I was sending flowers to Allie's room on Friday, and I said to the florist, who, by the way, I think was a listener, because she started giggling when I said, oh my God, I forgot what the baby's name was, and I was trying to quickly do the flower order, and I said, so just congratulate mom and dad and family, because for some reason I was calling um sebastian sergio stefan i had like every s name possible uh for that i wonder how many times parents by the way forget what they named their child i know that uh it's not something that you would ever think would ever happen but i think that me i had to like write it down i had to like put it down on my palm just to make sure that that was the case but boy what a beautiful baby um we've got uh megan in our studio this morning so nice to have you up here in the detroit studios kev is with us the new guy kev what's going on and uh kp lydia it's all good to be here thank you guys so much had such a hectic weekend uh you're gonna hear fans in the background here

of our studios if you don't already hear them because it's 8 000 degrees as it is always in our radio studios in uh the detroit area every single summertime we thought for some reason we were moving to a new building and then for some reason i have no idea why we haven't but they i don't think have ever fixed the hvac system that we have here the air conditioning unit so we're still stuck with the the craziness and i won't cry about it until later today when the sun comes up and it gets even hotter in the studio. We went away for a weekend wedding. So we had a wedding in Miami, Florida. And it was fun. It was a really cool situation for me to be able to get with my brothers and sisters. You know that I'm the baby of six kids. And all of my brothers and sisters were all alive. Thank God. Knock on wood. Everybody's doing okay. We got to all see each other. And then our kids, all the six kids, actually, and Pat's the only one that doesn't have kids, everybody came in for this wedding that was awesome for Madeline, my niece. You all looked really nice. Well, it was a very casual, fun wedding. You could dress up for the church. My sister said, dress up for the church. It was for her daughter, Madeline. But when the reception comes, Madeline does not want you to have to dress up. And one of the biggest reasons why, and some people maybe have heard me talk about this, my brother-in-law, Madeline's dad, Scott, has early onset dementia and is not doing great right now. Actually, he was diagnosed at 55 years old. Which is insane. And he struggled a lot over the weekend, but he struggles with a couple of different things. one with his clothes putting his clothes on is very difficult my sister has to dress him which is heartbreaking because this is a man who like was a businessman he wore suits all the time like he was one of those guys that i used to look up to as the radio dj in the family because he was the guy i'd get like advice from you know and call and he would give me good advice um and then he also struggles with people so madeline kept the the wedding madeline and drew kept the wedding to a very small amount of people and that it had to be casual because scott could only be in his tuxedo for a short period of time for the church service and then we got him out of that put him in shorts and uh he was having a great time he had an awesome time and there was uh probably i'm guessing like a hundred people maybe at the wedding if if that and so that was uh that was pretty cool um and it was it was just fun they lived down in uh miami she went to uh university of Miami. So she's a hurricane and works down there. And my sister and my brother-in-law moved down there because he's always dreamed of moving to Florida and retiring. So because of what happened and him having to, you know, take early retirement, he's now an early, he's now a golden

girl. So he's now doing that thing. I learned something about my wife, Chelsea, and I don't know if there are other people that are like this you'll have to tell us my wife is a kleptomaniac and i did not know this how so um chelsea is a hotel stealer oh we all are she she goes to well first off she never has done this before but the hotel we stayed at was a very cool hotel and she doesn't normally ever like you know take things from the hotel until we went to this restaurant the bar that's in the lobby of the hotel and we hung out there a lot with family members and had like you know lunch or food or drinks or whatever we drank a lot this weekend

And every time that they would come to the table and bring a drink, they had these amazing leather coasters because it's Miami and everything kind of like, you know, gets a little sweaty with the drinks and stuff. Yeah, it was very swanky. And let me say this. Everything in Miami is swanky. Even their Shake Shack is swanky. You walk into a Shake Shack and people are like dressed like in white pants. They're dressed like in Mike's pit bull pants. You know, it's like, what the hell is going on here? Well, the other thing was she was obsessed with the salt and pepper shakers at the hotel. So the restaurant had salt and pepper shakers that were unbelievable. So she stole the salt and pepper shakers, too. And I sat there as, oh, hold on. She's texting me right now. God, hopefully she's, oh, oh, my God. Oh, she's correcting me. My brother-in-law has early onset dementia. Here, hold on. Let me call her real quick. Like, let me just dial her up real quick so she can explain to herself what's going on. Hold on one second here. So she's, like, stealing stuff from the hotel. And it was very embarrassing for me, who is the guy paying the bill thinking to myself that they're thinking that I'm the one stealing it. Chelsea.

I just corrected. So Scott has early onset dementia, not?

That's a big difference.

Well, I roundabout paid for it, so it doesn't really matter I did not steal your guests

Because of your excessive drinking

you paid for it basically yeah yeah and your families too so yeah when you're a guest somewhere

usually you get a gift for coming and i just see this as your gift like when we went out drinking at that hotel bar and i was gifted all of the glassware that i just happened to so like walk

away with exactly it's souvenir gift whatever you want to call it but chels you can't just

take this stuff you know that these hotels have to pay for all this they they it costs them lots

of money to pay for stuff like that well the debate with the coasters were we thought that

maybe they were going to throw them away so because it because you you throw away expensive

coasters when you're at a nice hotel i think they do i don't know yeah i also feel like some of

these establishments kind of know that people are going to walk away with the shampoos the lotions the coasters so they order in abundance it's almost like it's expected to happen yeah i don't know if they're surprised when they realize oh another coaster is gone by the way i have a list

here i i googled things stolen from hotels and uh salt and pepper shakers were not on that list

Norwood Coaster. Well, those are very nice salt and pepper shakers and they're travel size. So I felt like it was you know, a gimme.

Here are the most popular things that are stolen. Towels. The I didn't take towels. Bathrobes. I'm scared. Nice bathrobes. I didn't take it. Hangers.

Those hangers are intentionally made with the small hooks so you can't steal them anymore and it really makes me upset.

This might actually be for Chelsea. Cutlery is maybe that. I don't know. No, I guess that's the forks and knives and things like that.

I don't have a family member whose entire kitchenware set has an H on it for Hilton.

Absolutely not.

How about this? Cosmetics, shampoos, and conditioners. People steal those little ones all the time.

Again, those are gifts.

How about this? How about batteries? People take the batteries out of the remote controls.

That's actually really smart. I've never thought of that, and I would do that. I've never thought of that.

Yeah, people actually taking the bedding. People actually will steal the full-on remote controls, the hair dryers that they have, coffee makers, TV sets, phones, lamps, and even the mattresses. People have stolen the mattresses.

How do you take a mattress?

Well, you know what? You'd figure out a way to do it. But I will say this, that you figured out a way to pretty much take coasters from everybody else's tables, too. She didn't want to be caught completely. So if she saw a table get up and leave, she'd go walk over there, grab their coasters, and then take them. Unbelievable.

Well, you can thank me later when we don't have marks on our table.

I will say this, though. Growing up.

Our entire linen closet was hotel shampoos, lotions, and conditioners. Everybody had their own. We were never out.

Yeah.

You guys had the best in the neighborhood. Did it also, like Megan's, have everything written on it, like, say, in the hotel? Oh, for sure.

Yeah. We had Marriott's. We had Hilton's. We had all this.

I was texting in. My mom always steals all of pepper shakers from restaurants or pretty much, like, anywhere if she thinks they're pretty cool looking. Or she kind of collects things Like if we go out to eat And she likes to have like an appetizer And like a little dish or something She'll end up just putting it in like a to-go box And like hiding it and bringing it home

Do people come to your home and say Hey, I've seen this before?

No, but I do Because I don't live with my mom anymore So when I go to her house And I'll be like, Mom, we're just at this steak knife. It looks like it's from Outback.

Actually, I think I read a study one time that said that the Bible is most stolen, and they want you to steal the Bible. Like, the Gideons people want you to take that Bible.

i just i feel like a lot of hotels probably don't put bibles in the side tables anymore but i and that was always something when i was younger that everyone's just like yeah i'm just gonna take the bible it's there just take it can i tell you something though stealing a bible

wife the thief okay so when uh my boyfriend and i took a trip to traverse city we stripped the whole room like the batteries all that stuff but they actually have um like their shampoos and conditioners and lotions like attached to the wall so we found empty water bottles to collect it because it's not really good and then he looked at me and he was like grab all those rolls of toilet paper how many rolls i think it was two but they were like tied up with like a ribbon in stock.

Wow.

But that's not even the good toilet paper. No, but it was free.

Yeah. By the way, the hotel that we stayed at had the worst toilet paper ever. I swear to God, it was the hotel toilet paper that your finger popped through every single time. What's going on, Michelle?

No. So I, when I was growing up, my parents would always, my dad traveled a lot. So we would have these Holiday Inn towels. And as a kid, I literally didn't even know you could buy a towel at a store because they said that that's what they gave you at hotels. And all of our hotels were different colored and they all said Holiday Inn.

Really? So every hotel that you stayed at was a Holiday Inn, and you guys would steal the towels, but not all the Holiday Inns had the same color towels.

Correct.

That's actually kind of nice.

So they were white or, you know, until, like, later on in life when I was at my friend's house, and I was like, what do you mean? You guys had to tell me that they stole. I was like, that's just not normal. You're supposed to get them at the hotel. My parents say they give them to you.
