It just came out. Jeremy, what did you just do? You just set yourself up for failure. I've never heard you tell this story. I've never told this story. This must have been tucked deep, deep in the Jeremy Lin file.

00:00:38 - 00:00:59 | Speaker 3:

My name is MC Jin. I'm excited to tell you about Laugh But Not Lease. I'll be chatting with guests from all walks of life about the power of humor when it comes to facing difficult times. I've been hearing for decades that the markets can solve climate change. Today, we have more incentives for market solutions than ever, and emissions are rising. On this season of Drilled, Carbon Cowboys, the story of three market solutions colliding in one multinational boondoggle.

00:01:18 - 00:01:22 | Speaker 2:

You gotta give Bruce and the guys credit. They're Republican. They don't give a s*** of money.

My wife, Chelsea, is with us right now. Shannon's off on her honeymoon. Kev is here. Lydia, Bianca, Zach. I feel like, guys, today is going to be one of those days where nobody's going to be listening just because I feel like everybody's taking long weekends and doing kind of fun stuff. But we can do whatever we want. We can talk and do whatever we want. We got no rules. I love it. No holds barred. Chelsea and I were having a discussion about something. And I don't know why she's so adamant about this. She says that she thinks I need to go on a guy's trip. And why is that, Chels?

00:02:04 - 00:02:25 | Speaker 7:

Well, I think it's super important that couples, especially people who have been together for a long time, but it's super important when you're in a relationship at the beginning as well. You need to have your own separate friends and do your own separate hobbies. And you don't have to live separate lives, but it's super important, I think, to have separate friends.

00:02:25 - 00:02:27 | Speaker 5:

Have separate time with each other.

00:02:27 - 00:02:38 | Speaker 7:

She's bored of me already. Can you tell? Already. Go on a guy's trip. And I go on a girl's trip, and I enjoy them. And I think it's – otherwise –

00:02:38 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 5:

Let me explain this. So I was invited to go on this guy's trip, and I told Chelsea, I said, I'm kind of regretting it, and I'm thinking about not going. And then we were talking about – we have a couple's friends where the husband and wife don't ever leave each other. they literally what are with each other pretty much all the time right yeah yeah like there's no there's no separate trips there's no guys time there's no girls time they're together time and I said to Chelsea I go you know I'm kind of in my feelings right now I want to spend time with you and she's like no I don't I'm like what is that all about so I wanted to kind of throw it out there to the listeners and Chelsea's you know idea was hey maybe we should bring it up and see what people think but do you think that it's really important for couples to do this and do you do guys and girls trips away and are there any couples that are like our friends that don't do that and they're always together and if you're always together is that good i think it's dangerous

00:03:35 - 00:03:42 | Speaker 7:

you can't be everything to one person yeah it's and it's not fair i've had a relationship to where

00:03:42 - 00:04:22 | Speaker 6:

um it was the most serious relationship that i had ever been in and i thought that by spending all of my time with this person was the right thing to do because this is the person I want to be with why should I want to spend time with anyone else and not to say you get sick of that person but in a way your identity starts to be you in the relationship and that's all you are that's who you are when you're a full person outside of that and you start to lose who you are and your interests and what makes you you if you don't explore that and the thing that keeps you grounded in some way, shape, or form is your friends. So go outside, be with them, and then come back and be the best person

00:04:22 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 5:

you're supposed to be. Are you okay, Chelsea, if it's like Vegas? I don't care

00:04:26 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 7:

where. I used to care. I mean, honestly, I would care, but I don't

00:04:30 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 5:

care where. How about that Miami club that everybody's been talking about lately? 11 or whatever it is down there. Bye, have fun. You're okay with that? I don't care. She's giving me free reign. Are you giving me like a... A hall pass? Yeah, a hall pass. Bye. Jordan, what's going on?

00:04:49 - 00:04:54 | Speaker 4:

No, I think it would only take two days of working together for her to throw you out of the house.

00:04:56 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 5:

Jordan, you're right. Isn't that funny? We've been spending...

00:05:00 - 00:05:02 | Speaker 6:

Too much time together. I think that's the case.

00:05:02 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 7:

I thought she was secretly like, hey, there's a job opening. We need to do a link. I'm going to work here.

00:05:09 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 1:

No.

00:05:10 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 7:

But, nope.

00:05:12 - 00:05:18 | Speaker 6:

Jordan, I swear to God, I think we'd be divorced probably in like a week. This is nuts. She's ready to leave.

00:05:18 - 00:05:22 | Speaker 7:

I was like, she better not come back on Monday. Otherwise, she might be.

00:05:22 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 6:

I know. I'm going to be in trouble. Thanks, buddy. What's going on? Sierra, what's happening?

00:05:27 - 00:05:41 | Speaker 5:

hey so i'm with chelsea on this one like i'm the type of person that i definitely need time away from the person that i went i need space even if it's not a girl's trip i'm the type of person that i like solo trips like and the person that i went like they have to be okay

00:05:41 - 00:06:00 | Speaker 6:

with that yeah and if they're not well here's the thing the couple that we know that doesn't go away and they're you know they don't do it i think that's a little extreme and i think the people that are not okay with their spouse going on these trips honestly are setting themselves up for failure because I think what they're doing is they're showing that they have a distrust.

00:06:01 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 1:

And it's very codependent and it's so interesting that she takes a solo trip. I would love to do a solo trip because that's amazing independence.

00:06:09 - 00:06:11 | Speaker 6:

But I would never believe you were on a solo trip.

00:06:12 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 5:

See, there you go with the trust thing. There you go.

00:06:16 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 6:

Sierra, I'd be wondering what guys on the trip with you that just so happens to be hanging out

00:06:20 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 2:

at the hotel bar. Oh, how'd you get here?

00:06:23 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, exactly. Abe, what's up, Abe? How you doing?

00:06:28 - 00:06:29 | Speaker 3:

Hey, good morning, guys.

00:06:29 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 6:

What's going on? Good morning.

00:06:31 - 00:06:44 | Speaker 3:

Not much. To be honest with you, I let my wife just go on vacation most of the time. I just tell her to go by herself, her and her friends, or her and her mom, or her and her sisters. And her vacation away is my vacation alone. I'm here.

00:06:45 - 00:06:52 | Speaker 6:

So you actually look at it as a breather for you. Do you like going anywhere by yourself or with other guys? Or do you just like staying at the house?

00:06:53 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 3:

And honestly, I just like staying alone at my house, to be honest with you. There's really not much I want to do. So I just like, you know, if she's not here, I'll have time to go outside, finish what I have to do outside the house, finish what I want to do in the house, do my projects or whatever I have going on.

00:07:08 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 6:

If you're using the opportunity to get some of those honeydew things done. But I think Chelsea's biggest thing is that you need to have like the guy friend time. Like you need to have the separate people. You can't be everybody's everything. What's up, Chuck?

00:07:20 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 7:

my best friend of 40 years and i were going deep sea fishing in florida like a weekend trip wow and his girlfriend showed up his new girlfriend oh no wait did he invite her she has to be involved in everything really but but she came on her own but didn't tell me oh my god were you pest um yeah i'll never do it again did she catch anything she didn't go on the no she didn't go

00:07:52 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 6:

fishing she just showed up the next morning she just showed up at the uh wherever you were staying at bags god chuck that's crazy this guy this is how she is yeah she's she got her his penis in her

00:08:04 - 00:08:54 | Speaker 4:

purse yes yeah yes eve what's going on eve hi so we've been there for 35 years we've done everything together we've always vacationed together we've always like we wouldn't even go on vacation without the kids we've always taken family vacations until our kids got older and moved away yeah um we've never ever done anything apart we've always done everything together wait is that good or are you happy yeah i think it's great you know we've always yeah like and anytime he's ever had to do anything alone he's always been like i wish you were here i missed having you um yeah we we enjoy doing everything together so he has done some stuff alone for work and stuff yeah he's had to do things well do you are you what do you think

00:08:54 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 6:

when he's gone do you miss him oh absolutely yeah okay so you so you're so you're the one yeah well there she's the one that wants to be with him he he wants to be with me and i want to be with him yeah it's a mutual thing so he how often does he call you when he's on his work trips yeah he'll call i mean no how often though is he calling you a lot oh usually daily like nightly we'll recap our day yeah well it's interesting i'd love to get his perspective without you knowing because i want to know if he's really going jesus christ

00:09:31 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

kiera what's up it's mojo in the morning hey guys good morning hi morning so so my wife is like very codependent and i was single for so long before her i'm used to like my own space my children are teenagers now so i had a lot of free time but she wants to do

00:10:00 - 00:10:42 | Speaker 7:

everything together like since we've been together the last five years i have never been on a trip by myself since being with her and i used to travel alone a lot i've been on girls trips i think the most idea was like have a girls night at the hotel with like my co-worker friends and that was just recently but everything is always together and i'm like i don't mind it But sometimes I want, like, some me time to, like, roam and try new things on my own. Like, I'm a big, like, ballroom, like, line dancing fan, and she can't dance. So I've lost that because she's always up under me. Oh, wow.

00:10:42 - 00:10:51 | Speaker 5:

Okay, so you need to go do that. You have to, and if you guys are in a respectful relationship, loving, respectful, she should be okay with that.

00:10:52 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 7:

She is, but then she calls me, I miss you. I wish you didn't leave. You want to go get something? Boundaries. Boundaries. I'm trying to guilt trip you.

00:11:01 - 00:11:10 | Speaker 3:

Wow. Well, listen, I will say this to you, that this sounds like Chelsea when she leaves me. A couple of counts here. She's going to end up being with another woman.

00:11:14 - 00:11:46 | Speaker 4:
