I know you did the dirty, and we got trending news coming up later this morning, but I know I won't have time to get into this a little bit later, but there's so many different ones. Number one I wanted to bring up was, I did not know this, but according to the Metro Times, Traverse City is the cocaine capital of the U.S.

Huh?

A study ranked Michigan's Traverse City and Grand Rapids among the top 10 wildest cities in the U.S. Ranking at number three and number 10, Traverse City had an overall wildness score of a 7.71 out of a 10. the city is renowned for its vineyards and wineries, but also has 12.76 strip clubs per 100,000 residents, and 65.8% have taken marijuana.

Taken marijuana?

According to the story, I'm reading it right from the thing here. When it comes to cocaine use, Traverse City is number one, with 23.8% of its population of 15,675 have taken it. That's what they refer to it as. Grand Rapids came in number nine at 21.4% of its population of 195,911 using the drug. This is pretty wild. I did not know this.

That actually shocks me.

Isn't it? Well, does it shock you or is it just because it's the amount of people that live there and maybe the bigger cities have just more people in it than Traverse City does? But it's still a high amount of people, though, that are taking cocaine.

I also didn't know there were that many strip clubs in Traverse City. I've never seen one.

JP, let's come in here and tell us about this. Do they have a lot of strip clubs in Traverse City? How's the Coke?

Well, I can't say anything about the Coke, but there were a lot of dispensaries. You probably couldn't go a mile without seeing the dispensary up there.

Really? Yeah. There's a lot of popular places there, huh? Now, the gentlemen's clubs, quite a few of those. Really?

Yeah.

I've never thought about it. I always thought that when I think of Traverse City, and I've never been to Traverse City, believe it or not, it's crazy. I've traveled through pretty much the entire mitten, but I've never gone to Traverse City. I always thought of it as the place to bring my family and drink wine or take a romantic trip with Chelsea. Now I feel like I've got to change my outfits that I'm going to wear there.

Rumor has it, and I don't know from experience, but rumor has it that the strip clubs are off the beaten path a little bit. So they're off in the woods in different places. In the woods? Not like in the woods in the woods, but like it's away from the city. So you don't have to go to where all those family-friendly places are and be by a strip club. So it's off a little bit.

I mean, I feel a lot of tourism goes up to Traverse City, so I just feel like it's a place to party and hang out.

Yes, I remember. So I've worked in a couple different task forces where we've busted a lot of drug groups around the state, mostly with colleges. That seems to be where a lot of the problems are. But we have done quite a few where they try to ship them through Traverse City. They get a lot of them from Canada. They move a lot of them through Canada, and then a lot of them come in through Traverse City.

Interesting. Can I tell you the perspective, Joe, of this? The perspective of Traverse City being in the top 10 of the Wildest Cities and also Grand Rapids. number one while the city on the cocaine list is reno nevada uh per capita capital there and 8.61 followed by portland oregon now both of those places nevada and oregon would be like okay yeah i could see that people like you know probably uh you know get into drugs and stuff you know whatever traverse city and grand rapids they didn't want to put our radio show on ws snx because they said that we were too wild for the city yet they're all they're all doing cocaine out there tim i want to know what's the story there we're not trying to blow up our spot either

so like calm it down like i said a lot a lot of it is a lot of it is college kids now um lots of college kids do it now especially in the midwest really now that weed is legal i guess from from our perspective the assumption is that well now that weed is legal it's not as cool anymore so they got to get their hands on the next big illegal drug which is cocaine i just feel like

all over the place i just feel honestly like that uh to me is something i'm not touching i'm not touching i'm not touching anything that can blow your brains out you know when you put it in and the other one too is i just can't get into like i see these people that are uh and i'm gonna put this is a word of warning out to you. You can think I'm lame, whatever. If you go out to a party, you're a young high school, college kid or whatever, even middle school kid, or a friend of yours says, hey, try this. If they say try this, punch him in the nose. Because when you hear these stories about a kid who's never done drugs before in their life, takes one what's supposed to be an Adderall that happens to have fentanyl with him. And they die. And they die. And then all of a sudden, your parents have to live for the rest of their lives without you and being told that you are an overdose. That's not an overdose. That is a poisoning. That is a poisoning.

One of the craziest things we've ever seen is a mix between cocaine, Adderall, and Concerta. We've seen mixes of that before. What is that? What's the last one? Concerta. It's like a low-dose Adderall. It's basically Adderall without calling it Adderall. That's how the doctors do it.

So meth? Yeah.

It's just like a low-dose Adderall. Yeah.

I'm going to say this, that, you know, obviously I didn't necessarily didn't think that it was going to go this direction, but I think it's good because we don't talk about this enough. But seriously, if this gets any message at all of a parent, talk to your kids. It was wild to talk to my boys and to have the conversation with them because Sheriff Bouchard told me to. Like, I've been friends with Mike for a while, And Oakland County Sheriff Bouchard said, hey, have you ever talked to your sons about not taking something from a friend, like a pill or a drug? And he told me a story about a young kid that lived in Rochester that this happened to. Their parents ended up getting the phone call that he ended up, you know, the NARCAM didn't work on him. And I'm going to be real blatantly honest with our listeners. If you're a parent, you need to have this discussion with your kids because it is a pandemic, not an epidemic, a pandemic out there right now. And there's been way too many lives that have been lost by the poisoning of fentanyl being used in these street drugs. So, all right. Anybody want to go to Traverse City for a little vacation?
