You've heard the saying, when mom says no, dad says yes, or vice versa. It's kind of like one of those ones right here. Shannon, what happened? It's Mojo in the morning. How are you?

00:01:29 - 00:02:47 | Speaker 1:

If you have, if you're divorced and your kids live in two different households, I am wondering if you have been a victim of this nonsense. So this is Lucy and Smith's week to be with their dad. We do week on, week off. We transition them every Sunday. So when I get a FaceTime from her on her iPad on a day that's not my day, I'm so excited to get the chance to talk to her. So I answer this FaceTime from her and she is huddled in a corner in one of the rooms at her dad's house. I can hear all sorts of commotion in the kitchen in the background. And she whispers to me, Mom, can you please drop me off a tub of cookie dough? Now, she always has a tub of Toll House cookie dough that we buy from Kroger at my house. She likes to eat it with a spoon after dinner for dessert. And dad's house, I think they're a little healthier there. So I'm thinking she asked dad and he said, no, I am instantly suspicious of this situation. And like I said, I could hear people making dinner in the background. So I said to her, will you need to ask dad? To which she replied, no, mom, seriously, I love you so much. Just drop it off on the side of the house and walk away. She wanted it to be a secret mission of the cookie dough contraband.

00:02:47 - 00:02:53 | Speaker 4:

By the way, can you imagine her dad's ring cameras going off and seeing you, like, climbing through a shrub?

00:02:53 - 00:03:13 | Speaker 1:

She knows there's a way that I could park, like, halfway down his street and run it over to a side of the house where nobody or no camera would catch me. Did you consider it? No, I didn't. Because you know why I didn't consider it? Because I don't want that phone call afterward and have to deal with that conversation.

00:03:13 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 4:

Does that happen a lot, by the way? If you're in a relationship where you got two households, where the kids will call the other parent and say, hey, you know, mom won't let me or dad won't let me, 844 Mojo Live.

00:03:28 - 00:03:43 | Speaker 2:

Just, I mean, kids, the younger they are, the worse they are. Because they're leaving things at one house that they really, really want. Josiah used to call me, dad, can you bring me my Woody doll? I'd be like, dog, I'm not driving over there for no freaking Woody doll. See, that I don't mind.

00:03:43 - 00:03:46 | Speaker 1:

That I do. I am doing that constantly.

00:03:46 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 2:

Really? At that very moment? If I happen to leave later, then I'll put it in the car. I'm not about to get it.

00:03:52 - 00:04:02 | Speaker 1:

It might not be at that very moment, but Lucy forgot her Apple Watch at my house this week. So yesterday, or Monday, I don't even know what dang day it is. Monday, there I am driving it back.

00:04:02 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 4:

Will you do it for something as silly, though, as a toy or something like that? Or you do it for just the Apple Watch? I'm a sucker. I will do it for anything they ask for. Oh, my God. I remember when the kids were younger. The only thing I can remember the kids couldn't find that they couldn't go to bed with was like a blanket or something like that. Like, I can only imagine that that's got to be something that a lot of divorced parents have to, like, go back and forth with. And then is there a way to pull the wool over their eyes and make them think that the other blankets are really their blanket? 844-MOJO-LIVE, 844-665-6548. Text is 95500 to get through to us.

00:04:38 - 00:04:38 | Speaker 1:

They're smart.

00:04:39 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 4:

I love, by the way.

00:04:40 - 00:04:54 | Speaker 1:

They're smart, and especially in these situations where they know that, you know, you can kind of, like, Lucy is starting to figure out you can pit mom and dad against each other, certain things, even though, like, we're trying really hard to be on the same page at each house, but at both houses. Do you guys talk about food?

00:04:54 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 4:

Like, is that something that happens when you're divorced? Like, do you say, like, hey, here's how we're feeding them? Because.

00:05:00 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 1:

Like, do you guys have conversations about that? Or is it like, hey, I'm not feeding the kids this over here or you're feeding them?

00:05:05 - 00:05:36 | Speaker 2:

It depends on what it is. Like, I, the last time that it was their dad's week to have them, I, Lucy was at a swim practice close to my house and I had promised her nerd gummy clusters because Smith ate all of hers. And so I dropped off some bags of nerds gummy clusters to her swim meet and it was late at night and apparently like all the kids dove into the bags before bedtime and he was like if you could just not do that like it would be that would be super helpful which again but what's up

00:05:36 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 6:

nikki yeah so my kids when we did week one week off one time they were with him and the girlfriend cooked they didn't like the food and he was trying to force them to eat so they called me and asked if I can bring them McDonald's to eat.

00:05:53 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 1:

And you drove her right over. What did you do?

00:05:56 - 00:06:01 | Speaker 6:

I took it over there. You know she did. Well, you can't force them to eat something that they don't like.

00:06:01 - 00:06:02 | Speaker 1:

Wait a second.

00:06:03 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 6:

That's bad.

00:06:04 - 00:06:08 | Speaker 1:

Is that like just trying to like say I'm the more fun parent?

00:06:09 - 00:06:22 | Speaker 6:

Well, of course I am. Yeah. And be honest, you ain't like her no way. Well, at that time, I had never even met her. But you like embarrassing her. I had never met her. I could have walked past her and would have known who she was.

00:06:23 - 00:06:31 | Speaker 1:

That's funny. It's like, of course I'm going to bring it there, and I'm going to give her the dirty eyeball. You gave her a hairy eyeball, too, didn't you, when you saw her?

00:06:31 - 00:06:34 | Speaker 6:

I did, but I didn't even go in. They just ran out and grabbed the food.

00:06:34 - 00:06:35 | Speaker 1:

They grabbed it.

00:06:35 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 6:

McDonald's.

00:06:36 - 00:06:39 | Speaker 1:

Going crazy. She had to be sick in the house. What's up, Alyssa? Hi.

00:06:40 - 00:06:41 | Speaker 3:

Hi.

00:06:41 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 1:

Hey.

00:06:42 - 00:07:00 | Speaker 3:

I was just calling to tell you guys, I also have week on, week off with my son. he is four and he uses his dad against me anytime he gets in trouble anytime i won't stop at mcdonald's or taco bell he's like i want my dad he gets me taco bell and he gives me a tablet

00:07:00 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 2:

i mean to be fair i get it but that's when i say wow you have a really fun dad and that's it. But it's Taco Bell. It doesn't take money, though. I get it.

00:07:13 - 00:07:14 | Speaker 4:

For sure.

00:07:14 - 00:07:20 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, exactly. You know what you need to do is you need to say if dad would actually pay me a little bit more child support, I'd get you that.

00:07:20 - 00:07:33 | Speaker 3:

Oh, no, no, no. We don't have a child support. None of that. It's just split custody. But I always tell him, like, I'm not your dad. I'm not going to get you fast food every day and I'm not giving you a tablet at four years old.

00:07:34 - 00:07:34 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:07:34 - 00:07:37 | Speaker 3:

I mean, that's pretty fair. But it's Taco Bell.

00:07:38 - 00:07:39 | Speaker 1:

Hey, Shelly, what's going on?

00:07:40 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 5:

Hey, good morning, everybody. How's it going? Good morning.

00:07:43 - 00:07:43 | Speaker 1:

What's up?

00:07:45 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 5:

So my son was at his dad's house, and he called me, and he's like, Mom, there's an emergency. Dad's on the ground. I need you to bring me a bag of frozen peas right away. I hit him in the nuts with a baseball.

00:07:56 - 00:07:58 | Speaker 1:

Is that true? What? Did he really?

00:07:58 - 00:08:06 | Speaker 5:

What? He did. He's like, Mom, I need a bag of frozen peas. I dropped Dad in the driveway. I hit him in the nuts with a baseball. Drop Dad.

00:08:06 - 00:08:13 | Speaker 1:

He got to help me. and do we like dad were you happy to see that dad got hit in the nuts um you know yes i was a little

00:08:13 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 4:

happy but you know so i took the peas over just so i could get a look at that for myself

00:08:17 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 1:

see those nuts one more time what's going on nicole hi good morning good morning what's happening we're talking about how the kids will play the parents what's up yeah so i'm a stepmom

00:08:29 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 7:

and this just happened over the weekend shannon we say to their teenagers and they can communicate for themselves so we gave our 15 year old 120 limit to spend on soccer cleats and she gets to the store she really wants 200 soccer cleats so she calls her mom and her mom sends her money oh oh boy i call that real smart yeah she came up with the money i see no problem here and the older they get the smarter they get about it they just start dealing with it with

00:08:58 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 1:

for themselves how did you feel about that how did you feel about that happening

00:09:03 - 00:09:16 | Speaker 7:

I mean, I was fine because, I mean, I get it. She really wanted him. It is what it is. And she really doesn't do it all the time. And we are pretty good about, like, co-parenting and communicating. I just thought it was funny because I'm like, literally, this just happened over the weekend. Yeah.

00:09:17 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 1:

Question for you. How much crap do you think that that mom talks about you as a stepmom?

00:09:23 - 00:09:24 | Speaker 7:

I honestly don't think any.

00:09:25 - 00:09:25 | Speaker 1:

That's great.

00:09:26 - 00:09:28 | Speaker 7:

We hang out, like, outside.

00:09:28 - 00:09:33 | Speaker 1:

So that's cool. That's good. Are you just saying that because you're on the radio right now and you know she might be listening, or is that truth?

00:09:34 - 00:09:36 | Speaker 7:

Oh, no, not at all, no. Okay.

00:09:36 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 1:

No, that's nice to know because I got a lot of friends that are in divorce situations, and there's, like, crap talking. But that's nice that you guys are all good and everything is good.

00:09:45 - 00:09:49 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, she's 15, and I've been in her life since she was two.

00:09:50 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 1:

Wow, that's amazing. Well, thank you for the call. I appreciate it. Take care of yourself, Nicole.

00:09:55 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 7:
