We like your show participation. So here's the question for this topic. Has your significant other, or you can actually put family member, or any family member, ever cost you a job or a promotion. So my friend was telling me about an employee of his whose girlfriend went out to dinner with some clients and spent the entire time talking crap about her boyfriend's company that she works for. And it's a mom and pop. So the thing that the girlfriend didn't know was that the clients that were there that she was talking crap about the company to and the employer to were friends of the owner of the company. So everything that she had said, they went right back to the owner. And my buddy is actually the manager or the boss. He's the guy that oversees this. So he gets a phone call from the owner and says, I think we got to do something with so-and-so. And he's like, oh, what's going on? I think so-and-so is great. And he says, well, he brought his girlfriend to meet some of these people that are friends of mine who, you know, they, you know, are big time, you know, contributors to us. And, you know, started talking crap and it got all the way back. And I thought to myself, I'm like, oh, you know where this happens a lot? It happens a lot where significant others, wives, even kids sometimes will be around their, you know, dad or mom's employer and not realize that you got to keep your inside voices, you know, low a little bit. Yeah. Or your outside voices. Right. Got to make sure you always keep your inside voices. Don't use your outside voices, as mom would say. Because if you're at home with your parents and your mom is saying or dad is saying, yeah, so-and-so is an a-hole, and then you bring the family to the company picnic, and the kid ends up saying something.

could reflect poorly on you i told uh told this to uh brad harden who's one of our big guys one of our big bosses I said to him I go I go because he had mentioned to me about the iHeartRadio Music Awards and I said to him I go you know what I said those are just asking for trouble because people look at it as I'm going to take a trip to go to LA to go hang out and have fun and then they end up forgetting that they're actually there for work yeah you're there to you're there to do whatever whether it be you know work the actual event if you're lucky enough to do it or we're clients or you know like we have to do with our advertisers and do that uh that whole thing um 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 michelle yes how did a significant

other or a family member affect you on your job i had um i had this was 25 years ago i had a I was going for a corrections officer job in St. Clair County, and I went through the testing, the six interviews, and I had my multiple background checks. I have an interview with the chief. I pretty well had the job, and then they did my final background check to discover my husband at the time had a 12-page delinquent report that cost me the job. Did you know, were you aware of that about your husband? No, I, you know, I, most of it was traffic violations or driving under suspended or, um, uh, drunk driving. No, I, no, I did not. Oh my God. No, I did not. And I was absolutely crushed. I was absolutely crushed and I was embarrassed because someone, someone within the, um, a sergeant had, is the one that offered me the job to begin with. And so when that pulled up and his only answer to me was, you know, screw those police and all of that. And I was like, you know what, since I were divorced, but it was embarrassing.

Yeah, that's amazing that you also didn't know the extent of that. So that was probably good to know. Brad, how you doing? Good, how are you? Good. We're talking about how you either lost a promotion, got fired from a job because of a family member.

Yes. So, an ex-girlfriend of mine and I both worked at the same place. It was a restaurant.

Okay, so we got into a verbal argument. We worked at the same place as a restaurant. It was actually my day off. I was going up there on her lunch break to spend her lunch break with her, and then we got into the argument. I ended up in jail and ended up fired from my job.

So it had to have been wild because I've seen some things at big boy. It's pretty wild at big boy. That's a normal day.

Like, was it not even your argument? You just went over there and ended up getting involved in an argument that had nothing to do with you?

No, so what happened was I was going up there To take her to get food On her lunch break And I was late getting up there Because I didn't have good service at my house Right And I got up there And she was furious I was late Saying that she couldn't eat now Because of me

So you got in an argument with her In front of her job You sound like a nice guy

But they worked for the same place I remember

Back before I got married I remember bringing a girl that I met At a bar to the radio station Because I wanted to impress her I figured you come in and see all the equipment And stuff like that Maybe I'd get a little oral or something out of the deal I thought that maybe it would make me look better Well long story short Not about the oral part But long story short She ended up running into Todd Kavanaugh Who is my boss And he was the midday guy Also on the station And she goes to Todd Cavanaugh She goes, I hate your show I was like And this is a girl that I had just been Messing around with and stuff like that And Todd Cavanaugh didn't hold it against me But he was like, I think you can do better But I was very embarrassing But people do that with radio people all the time Yeah, I don't like this They have no problem telling you what they don't like
