Can superstars even exist the way they used to?

00:00:32 - 00:00:52 | Speaker 3:

2016 was sort of that last era of monoculture where we still consumed things in community. Everybody wanted to be Beyonce at that point. I don't think we'll ever see another Rihanna. What does it mean to be Black and eat in America? You will never make me feel bad for being a Black girl, for being a Black American girl, ever.

00:00:53 - 00:01:04 | Speaker 2:

From music to food to the conversations shaping Black culture right now, Therapy for Black Girls is bringing it all to the mic. Listen to Therapy for Black Girls on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Bill, why is my eye twitching? Does this mean I'm in perimenopause? Where's my phone?

00:01:11 - 00:01:13 | Speaker 6:

Juliana, maybe we can ask an actual human.

00:01:13 - 00:01:22 | Speaker 1:

Yes, because I have questions. And I bet you do too. Like, is it normal to sleep in separate bedrooms? We do that. And I still need to know why my poop's been green.

00:01:22 - 00:01:27 | Speaker 6:

We've got actual people answering these exact questions. Listen to Bill and Juliana.

00:01:27 - 00:01:28 | Speaker 1:

All right, Mojo in the morning show. So we have this thing that we've been doing the last few months or something like that. And it's, we go out on a Friday night and we schedule, you know, like it ahead of time. And it's a group of people. It's Chelsea and myself. So Chelsea's my wife, Steve Gabara, my other wife, you know, we're kind of like handmaids and stuff. he's my wife and then our and then our two other friends who you guys haven't met but I know we've talked about before on the show and we've had you know conversations about because do you guys remember when I told that story about the guy who um he had uh god what the hell was it dated the girl and left his phone on the counter and all the rest of that stuff yeah so his name is Blake. And so Blake and his wife are there too. And what we have done is when we've gone out to eat with each other is we've done credit card roulette where Blake, Steve and myself will throw down our credit cards and we'll say to the waitress, pick one of the cards and put the meal on the other, knowing that eventually it will rotate around us because we always end up going to similar places. Well, I found out that my friend Blake has been messing with us and I'm

00:02:54 - 00:03:12 | Speaker 4:

going to call him right now and he already knows that he that can be a really dangerous game by the way because well if the bill is super expensive and you're the one whose credit card gets picked or if you're constantly just by chance the credit card that's always picked yeah well like what if

00:03:12 - 00:03:57 | Speaker 8:

it's you three weeks in a row let me let me finish blake hello are you hey let me tell it let me tell the story this is this is so i'm gonna finish this and then i'm gonna bust your balls a little bit so on Friday night Steve and I and Blake put our credit cards down and for like the third out of four times that we've had this thing I got chosen oh okay to pay the bill and Steve has had a couple of times too actually he had like two in a row that happened and out of all of us Blake is the only one that has not been chosen by the waitress to get their credit card pulled so lucky and Blake will you explain what you do to not get chosen

00:03:57 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 7:

well when the server comes back and they have the unlucky loser in there it feels like you won the hunger games when she comes back with that tab with this group it's terrible and so I had to lose one time to figure out a way around this and I've learned to adapt to go to the restroom, find my waiter, waitress, offer him $50 or $100 and not pick Blake. Oh, my gosh. It's fine. If you're not cheating, you're not trying. Everyone wins. Everyone wins. That is genius. It's true. Everyone wins. I'm just not trying to pay $2,000 in Birmingham. That's it. That's all I'm trying to do.

00:04:48 - 00:04:50 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, you're paying insurance is what you're paying. That works.

00:04:50 - 00:04:57 | Speaker 8:

Blake, will you tell everybody what Steve Gabara's face looked like when Steve Gabara had to get chosen like two in a row?

00:04:58 - 00:05:09 | Speaker 7:

You know what? It's like a little kid on Christmas being on the naughty list not getting the present he wanted. That's what it is. That's what his face looks like.

00:05:09 - 00:05:14 | Speaker 4:

Now, Steve Gabar is going out. Are you going out for dinner, he said, Megan, with him this week?

00:05:15 - 00:05:15 | Speaker 3:

I am, yeah.

00:05:16 - 00:05:21 | Speaker 4:

Why don't you see if he wants to play credit card roulette, and then why don't you play this little game that Blake did?

00:05:21 - 00:05:24 | Speaker 3:

I think this is very, very smart. I think I'm going to steal this.

00:05:25 - 00:05:27 | Speaker 5:

Well, you have to be careful. Does Steve know about this yet?

00:05:27 - 00:06:05 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, he knows. Yeah, so now we'll pull that on Megan. Yeah, we all found this out on Friday, and it was funny because I wasn't mad. I actually thought it was pretty funny, but I was looking over at Steve at one point and thinking to myself, this poor guy doesn't – sometimes he brings a date with him. Sometimes he doesn't bring a date with him. He likes to just go and flirt with our wives, which he does all the time. He just sits there and flirts with them nonstop. I'm telling you, if I die at my funeral, he will be trying to get with Chelsea. Guarantee you. So he always has to pay for an extra person, and I feel bad when that happens. Don't you, Blake?

00:06:07 - 00:06:11 | Speaker 7:

When he rips up in that new Raptor Bronco, I don't feel too bad.

00:06:12 - 00:06:18 | Speaker 4:

He's probably putting it on Zott Ford's company credit card and expensing it to Todd Zott.

00:06:21 - 00:06:24 | Speaker 7:

Yeah, I've got to come up with a new game now that everybody's on.

00:06:24 - 00:06:30 | Speaker 4:

All right, we'll talk to you later. Are you doing school drop-off right now?

00:06:31 - 00:06:34 | Speaker 7:

Already done. It started at 7.30. I'm already...

00:06:34 - 00:06:40 | Speaker 4:

Wow-ee! This guy, by the way, is very responsible. How early do you get to school drop-off?

00:06:43 - 00:06:51 | Speaker 7:

Drop-off is a tight window at 7.30, 7.35, and we're out of the house by 7. We're there on time.

00:06:51 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 4:

He's amazing. It's amazing. Chelsea was trying to explain to him that I never was able to do the school drop-offs, but I would do school pickups. And the only time that I got there on time or early was when I would go there and sleep in the parking lot. We were talking about sleeping with your story last hour. That's what I would do. And I would sit there and kids would be coming out of school and parents would knock on my Karen Hoke.

00:07:16 - 00:07:16 | Speaker 3:

Move up.

00:07:17 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 4:

Tom, your son's about to get in your car. Yeah.

00:07:21 - 00:07:26 | Speaker 7:

If you ever want to tailgate and do some napping before pickup, I'm always there. I'll be there.

00:07:26 - 00:07:28 | Speaker 4:

I will see you. All right, buddy. I'll talk to you later. Take care.

00:07:29 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 7:

See you, buddy.

00:07:30 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 4:

Bye. What's happening? How you doing, Chris?

00:07:36 - 00:07:37 | Speaker 6:

Good. How you guys doing today?

00:07:37 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 4:

Good. What's happening? You have a different version of credit card roulette?

00:07:40 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. We protect a little bit against the payouts behind the scenes. And so we make the waitress pick them in front of us, and the last one picked has to pay the bill.

00:07:53 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 7:

Oh, okay.

00:07:56 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 6:

Yeah.

00:07:56 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 7:

So there can be no cheating involved, right? No cheating involved. Right, right.

00:08:01 - 00:08:01 | Speaker 4:

Okay.

00:08:02 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 7:

That's a good idea. There you go.

00:08:02 - 00:08:04 | Speaker 6:

We've got some shady guys in our crew.

00:08:06 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 4:

Somebody was telling me that the Red Wings players do this all the time. Yeah, all the time. But they do credit card roulette based on don't pick up your phone. They do it with your phones.

00:08:14 - 00:08:20 | Speaker 5:

Well, they do both. They do the credit card thing, too, where they put them on somebody's hat and they make the server pick it right there in front of them.

00:08:20 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 7:

It's kind of I mean, they all make good money, but when there's that many, right, because it's a big group of them that does it.

00:08:27 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 5:

And when they're gone after a game, they're literally eating half the menu. They're ordering like the whole left side of the menu.

00:08:35 - 00:09:01 | Speaker 3:
