mojo on the morning show this is wild i've always wondered this whenever we've talked about you know asking for permission to get engaged or for somebody's hand in marriage has anybody ever

00:01:41 - 00:03:15 | Speaker 7:

said no will you now know somebody that has said a relative of mine yeah a relative of mine has been dating a guy for a couple of years and um nobody in our family is a very big fan of his oh boy i say that very nicely he's okay like it's the he's fine i guess um but a couple of weeks ago he came and asked for her handed marriage for dad's blessing and dad said no wow dad said no for a lot of different reasons um one of them was they're just a little bit too young and so how old uh 22 okay 22 23 yeah um and so he hasn't proposed this was a couple weeks ago he hasn't proposed i don't even know if he has a ring or had a ring um but they did just call yesterday and announced that they bought a house together oh my god so i might be bigger than right yeah but yes said no could you imagine without giving too much information what is it that they don't or you guys don't like about him um lack of drive and goals uh doesn't treat her very nicely really i don't think yeah not at all um and just like overall not super respectful of the family and okay just not somebody that we would pick for her at all that's yeah that's

00:03:15 - 00:03:23 | Speaker 6:

interesting because it's interesting you're saying that they're buying a house together and i'm wondering about the goals because that's that's a huge goal for a lot of people mostly her That's big, so she's Zoe, that's her.

00:03:23 - 00:03:29 | Speaker 5:

But look, like, I'm sure, well, let me not assume, have you guys communicated this to her? And if so, what is her response?

00:03:29 - 00:03:55 | Speaker 7:

I think that she is pretty aware. I'm not close enough to the situation, Kev, to know, like, what that communication has been. Yeah. But I don't think that it is any secret. Like, everybody is extraordinarily cordial around him. And, you know, when we have family gatherings, I don't see him very often. But when we do, like, everybody's, you know, fine. But I think it's kind of obvious.

00:03:55 - 00:04:22 | Speaker 6:

Chelsea and I were young. And so we got the whole you guys are too young to get married thing. But her dad never said no to it. But we definitely were discouraged from getting married young. And we talk about this a lot. We talk a ton on our We Don't podcast about we wish that family members would have told us more. Because it was tough, man. It was tough being their age exactly. Chelsea was 20 when we were getting married.

00:04:22 - 00:04:34 | Speaker 7:

And age, really far down on the list compared to all of these other things. Jerk, being a jerk, yeah. He's just kind of a jerk. And I feel like they dated in high school, they dated through college, and it's one of those things where she...

00:04:34 - 00:04:35 | Speaker 5:

Comfortable. Yes.

00:04:36 - 00:04:46 | Speaker 6:

Complacent. But a lot of times, I always feel like this sometimes when you're younger, and you know this, remember when you were dating, you always wanted to date the bad boy, or you thought that. It's the whole Taylor Swift love story.

00:04:46 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 7:

He's not even a bad boy. He's just...

00:04:48 - 00:04:49 | Speaker 6:

He's just a bad boy.

00:04:49 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 7:

but it is

00:04:51 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 6:

what happens though sometimes in this case when a family says no to it what ends up happening is that that girl is going to want to be with him even more

00:05:00 - 00:05:05 | Speaker 1:

more because everybody's against it you almost have to say i say i think she's aware that people

00:05:05 - 00:05:08 | Speaker 3:

don't like him because that's already started to happen i would say for the past two years

00:05:08 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 1:

uh 844 mojo live 844-665-6548 anybody live this situation maybe give a little bit of advice to uh shannon and and family for uh for this situation i i think that it's it's one of those ones where you as the dad have to be able to and mom you have to be able to say your intentions but then you got to also understand that they may go around your intentions because you know if they're if they're able to buy a house and live on their own like

00:05:37 - 00:05:59 | Speaker 5:

that abe what's up hey what's going on mojo good morning guys morning i just wanted to throw something out there and i'm speaking not for all but i'm gonna say majority when i say that a lot of women are attracted to bums. Or they like to find men that they want to change. Bad boy vibes.

00:05:59 - 00:06:18 | Speaker 1:

You want to save them. You're right with that. I think that's the case for a lot of times with a lot of people. You see the good side, but everybody else sees that it's so blatantly not good. Have you ever experienced this in your family? It sounds like you guys speak from experience.

00:06:18 - 00:06:43 | Speaker 5:

I, uh, so my wife has a lot of her friends that have a hard time finding men because they start, you know, they date me, like, uh, they don't have, like, like, I know there's situations, but, like, there's other guys that they don't want to get a job, or they don't want to do better for themselves, or they're trying to use the girl to, like, live with her, or just, you know, for living, or they end up being cheated, you know, like every Tuesday and Thursday, you know what I'm saying, so.

00:06:43 - 00:06:48 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, they put up with too much. Um, you got windows down, driving?

00:06:48 - 00:06:54 | Speaker 3:

hey i'm in my semi chuck sorry oh no give us a little toot toot yeah you got it you got a horn

00:06:54 - 00:07:01 | Speaker 1:

there there you go thanks abe what's up joe hey good morning how are you guys good what's going

00:07:01 - 00:07:17 | Speaker 4:

on bud so before i married my wife my father he did not like me at all but after i married his daughter it was like a complete 180 and now he's my best friend he calls me daily really so when

00:07:17 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 3:

you asked for permission or the blessing or whatever to propose to his daughter did he say no or was he just not super happy about it so i didn't ask him because me and him didn't get along

00:07:29 - 00:07:44 | Speaker 4:

so i asked my wife's mother and she said yes was he upset that you didn't ask him no we weren't talking and then we invited him to the wedding and it was completely 180 and he was so excited

00:07:44 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 1:

yeah

00:07:46 - 00:07:50 | Speaker 4:

why didn't he like you because I'm Canadian

00:07:50 - 00:09:17 | Speaker 1:

well you guys are a little goofy but hey can I tell you that my father-in-law same situation it's not that he didn't like me he was very leery of me I was a radio DJ I was a night disc jockey and his daughter when we met Chelsea was 17 and I was 20 and so he was like why are you there you know and then we ended up started dating when she was 18 and i was 21 so i was going to bars all the time doing bar gigs and i was leaving chelsea at her parents house to go to bar gigs and so he thought i was up to no good i get don't you see that now totally see it like back then i thought you know now i look at it and i go uh wow he is probably one of my best friends in the world and it's funny how you have to kind of show him that you're not who he thinks you are even though honestly i was what who he thought i was i was a 21 year old guy hanging out in bars and clubs and stuff like that with with his daughter you know not being able to be there i used to sneak her in sometimes but i'd get in trouble because of the everybody knew that she wasn't of age but it's it's weird now as a dad of kids that like if luke came to me and said hey i'm getting married i'd probably kidnap him and take him to canada you know what i mean because i i i just think that it's so tough the world is so tough right now it's tough for marriage for a 40 year old let alone if you're a somebody that's 20 like these guys were what's up Shelly good morning how

00:09:17 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 2:

are you guys we're good what's going on good so I was married for 24 years and I got married the day after I turned 22 um I'm divorced but my mom and my dad they literally hated my ex-husband like my mom tried to talk me out of it I just feel like parents have a good intuition and they tried to talk me out of it and you know i mean i got three great kids out of it but uh you know they ended up being right in the end but the whole my whole marriage my mom and my husband um they just they butted heads basically the whole time because my mom could be through you know the bs basically and uh you know she's not here anymore but you know she'd be happy to No, I'm divorced.

00:10:00 - 00:10:06 | Speaker 4:

Wow, that's wild to hear that out of your mouth, to say that she'd be happy to know that you're divorced.

00:10:07 - 00:10:28 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, yep. She tried to stay out of it because she didn't want to ruin our relationship. But, you know, I knew how she felt about him the whole time. She just knew I deserved to be treated better. And, you know, I get it. I'm a mom myself to older kids, and I want what's best for my kids. So sometimes kids just can't see that, you know, when they're so young and they're blind.

00:10:28 - 00:10:31 | Speaker 4:
