This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:01:06 - 00:01:51 | Speaker 4:

My name is Patrick Pettway, and I am getting my Associates of Science and General Education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer. When you go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college as a 40-year-old man, I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. For me to be able to be accepted through FAFSA and to have Bishop State pay for all of my tuition, not only that, but the curriculums, you know, they make it so easy to understand on their website. Like I said, I'm a 40-year-old man, so I don't use technology too much, but it was very understandable where I needed to go. It was extremely fast. These past two years, things have just moved in a total different type of way. It's like its own moving entity to see things manifest the way that they do.

Mojo of the Morning Show. Okay, I got a couple of questions to ask you guys. I'm going to just throw this out there as a little around-the-room survey to the ladies, to me ladies that are listening to the show here today. With it being that time of month where everybody wants to be in a relationship, I would like to ask you to rate the deal breakers here on men's hobbies slash occupations. Would some of these hobbies be deal breakers for you? Or in some cases, would they be a turn on for you if your guy were one of these? And I came up with a bunch of these. So I want you guys to tell us what you think. Lydia, you part of this one, too? Where's KP? KP around, or is she doing some other work? Can we grab her somewhere?

00:02:55 - 00:02:55 | Speaker 1:

I'm here.

00:02:56 - 00:03:25 | Speaker 5:

KP there too? Good, all right, good. All right, everybody there. Here we go. 56, let's see here, 56% of women say that a guy's hobby would be a deal breaker for them. If a guy was way too into something that it was his hobby and he liked it, it would be a deal breaker. Here are some hobbies that men like to do. What would you do as far as dating a guy who is a taxidermy enthusiast?

00:03:25 - 00:03:27 | Speaker 7:

Absolutely not. What is that? No.

00:03:28 - 00:03:33 | Speaker 5:

It's the guy that stuffs dead animals. The guy that spends his time stuffing. And then he lays them on his wall.

00:03:34 - 00:03:36 | Speaker 6:

What's the Steve Carell movie?

00:03:37 - 00:03:39 | Speaker 5:

Dinner for Schmucks. Dinner for Schmucks.

00:03:39 - 00:03:44 | Speaker 6:

Dinner for Schmucks, where he was making the funny movie scenes with the little mice. Yeah. I'm into.

00:03:44 - 00:03:45 | Speaker 5:

You would be into that.

00:03:45 - 00:03:49 | Speaker 6:

But if you are into just, like, mounting deer heads? No. No.

00:03:49 - 00:03:49 | Speaker 5:

Okay.

00:03:50 - 00:03:52 | Speaker 6:

But, like, if you're funny about it, maybe.

00:03:52 - 00:04:03 | Speaker 5:

What about this one? KP and Lydia, would you date a guy who was a doll collector? He had a room full of antique porcelain dolls that he talked to sometimes.

00:04:04 - 00:04:05 | Speaker 3:

Uh, no.

00:04:06 - 00:04:12 | Speaker 5:

No, there's not enough doll collectors that are in their 20s. Maybe this is an older one. Are we sure Wes wasn't a doll collector?

00:04:12 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 6:

I wouldn't even be friends with a girl that did that. That is creepy. I was forced to have a doll collection in my room growing up. Still scarred.

00:04:19 - 00:04:28 | Speaker 5:

What about a guy that was a snake guy? Like, he likes snakes. He had a pet snake, snake breeder, was into snakes. What about you, Lydia? What would you do with that?

00:04:28 - 00:04:29 | Speaker 7:

Snake breeders?

00:04:29 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 5:

Yeah. A guy that's into snakes.

00:04:30 - 00:04:38 | Speaker 7:

If this is a side hustle and I don't have to see them, it's fine. Nope. What's that got to do with me? Because he's coming home with something in his pants and it's not what you want it to be.

00:04:38 - 00:04:41 | Speaker 6:

And you just know one of them is going to get out. Yeah. That's what I mean.

00:04:41 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 5:

No, here's something interesting. my friend Shannon dated a guy by the name of Russ and Russ was wild he had a suit on during the day and at night she would go to his and this is not by day and night this is just like his thing she went to his house and he had a humongous aquarium with a

00:05:00 - 00:05:19 | Speaker 1:

boa constrictor in it and she was like i couldn't it was so weird you wouldn't be able to sleep there but she said she said that sexually he was like one of the greatest ever i don't care because i think that people who are in the snakes are kind of sexually crazy um what if you were to date a guy who is a ghost hunter would you guys ever think about dating a ghost hunter the guys that

00:05:19 - 00:05:31 | Speaker 3:

of all that you've mentioned that's probably the least offensive no i don't that would still i I feel like you're a, how do I say this very nicely? You're a special human being if you go ghost hunting.

00:05:32 - 00:05:46 | Speaker 4:

I'm going to agree. I'm going to say something controversial. You're brave. Everything else has not been a belief in something. This is a belief of something imaginary that does not exist. And if your hobby is to chase around something that doesn't exist. Oh, see, I believe in ghosts. That's why I don't think.

00:05:46 - 00:05:50 | Speaker 1:

And I thought you were into that stuff. No, you're not into it. No.

00:05:50 - 00:05:51 | Speaker 4:

Mike was is.

00:05:51 - 00:06:03 | Speaker 1:

Oh, is he? Okay. me um what about the kevin you'll ask what this is because i didn't know what it was either what if your guy was into larping i know what larping is oh you do know what's that they go

00:06:03 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 3:

outside and they play live action role play live action role playing oh okay so i always say when i retire i'm going to be the lady that you visit at greenfield village for holiday nights that's baking that's baking bread and putting a turkey in the oven and churning the butter so you know

00:06:20 - 00:06:25 | Speaker 1:

what i can't i can't judge on that one lydia and kp would you date a guy that was really into

00:06:25 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 2:

renaissance festival stuff and like to dress up yeah as long as he kept all of his stuff and like swords and stuff in a storage unit yeah no that's enough for me that's where i draw the line wow

00:06:36 - 00:07:59 | Speaker 1:

they got good food and they drink i don't think i've ever seen a chaldean man dress up and and go to thank you god um well okay here's one this is a little realistic one and this one actually would be a good one would you date a competitive eater like yeah like uh joey chestnuts or kobayashi we're going hot dog for hot dog would you be okay with your guy entering like buffalo wing eating contest not stoney's kind of hot is that the new up-and-comer he's been around for quite a while has he yeah how about a clown performer what if the guy's uh no no no um a vintage train guy guy that was collecting model trains and vintage trains i wouldn't do it with you but i wouldn't tell you you couldn't do it no okay how about a marathon runner would you date a guy that was a marathon runner no one of those you have to go and watch him at the marathons i know one of those really yes married to him would you um yes so i would uh but that doesn't mean i'm participating what about the weekend sports warrior kp's got a guy like that because he took her skiing he's never skied before kp winter the or the the sports warrior the guy that likes to do things and be out and about and and uh be active that's fine as long as he doesn't make me hike every weekend what that your guy actually got you on skis and look what happened

00:07:59 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 2:

to you i know i'm on crutches i'm gonna hit him with my crutch has it has it hurt uh the relationship

00:08:05 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 1:

or help you last we talked to you it seemed like the relationship was great because you learned that he was a very compassionate guy yeah it made me say the l word

00:08:14 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 2:

six weeks in yeah i i knew like week two and he said the same thing he said it first and then we

00:08:27 - 00:08:34 | Speaker 3:

talked about like the moment that we knew wow that's amazing all right tell me you love me

00:08:34 - 00:08:35 | Speaker 1:

That's unbelievable.

00:08:35 - 00:08:36 | Speaker 2:

So you're definitely boyfriend-girlfriend.

00:08:36 - 00:08:39 | Speaker 1:

Man, why was that not on your topics? That's a great topic.

00:08:40 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 2:

Well, I felt like it maybe could be kept quiet, but I will say he did ask me to be his girlfriend a couple days ago. He laid out a bunch of rose petals on a bed and said, will you be my girlfriend? Oh, my God. That's cute.

00:08:51 - 00:08:58 | Speaker 1:

This guy. That guy could be a ferret. What's the next one here? A ferret breeder, and you'd be okay with it now.

00:08:58 - 00:09:02 | Speaker 2:

That's a big no for me. No, I don't want any snakes or rodents or anything.

00:09:02 - 00:09:26 | Speaker 1:

How about a scuba diver? Would you like a scuba diver, a guy that makes you go on trips to places to go scuba diving? These are all ones. Triathletes. Would you date a triathlete? Oh, here's one. This is a good one. A lot of women said that they wouldn't be into this. Would you date a guy that only drinks wine, a wine enthusiast, but that drinks no other?

00:09:26 - 00:09:27 | Unknown:

I would.

00:09:27 - 00:09:32 | Speaker 1:

Is wine a little not masculine enough for the guys?

00:09:32 - 00:09:34 | Speaker 4:

I think people who think that are very young.

00:09:35 - 00:09:35 | Speaker 1:

Really?

00:09:35 - 00:09:41 | Speaker 4:

Yes. I think once you hit a certain age, it's like, whatever you enjoy, enjoy it. I would actually love that.

00:09:41 - 00:09:42 | Speaker 1:

Would you?

00:09:42 - 00:09:45 | Speaker 3:

Because you could tell me about all the different kinds of, you know, what I should be drinking.

00:09:45 - 00:09:47 | Speaker 1:

What if he was just a white wine drinker?

00:09:47 - 00:09:48 | Speaker 3:

Like Kev?

00:09:48 - 00:09:54 | Speaker 1:

He likes just white wine. I'm just kidding, Kev. I prefer a white wine. I know you do. The Pinot Grigio. I prefer a white wine. Kev likes wine cooler.

00:09:54 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 3:

I literally love, when we go out and Kev, Kev's like my wine buddy because he will, even at Irish and I own.

00:10:00 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 4:

He's like Pinot Grigio. That's all Hill order. Let me get a Pinot.

00:10:03 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. I'm on that. How about a car restorer? Would you like a guy that restores cars? No. No? It's a big money thing.

00:10:09 - 00:10:20 | Speaker 7:

No, it's not even that. I grew up with car restorers, so let's make that very clear. This comes from a very personal place. Y'all be angry 24-7 on your weekends.

00:10:21 - 00:10:23 | Speaker 8:

What about a guy who is obsessed with Disney?

00:10:23 - 00:10:28 | Speaker 6:

Oh. Yeah. That's Joe. That's my son. He's a weird...

00:10:28 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 8:

I dated a Disney obsessed guy. Really?

00:10:30 - 00:10:41 | Speaker 6:

How about a bird photographer? You have to go and watch birds all day. Miguel, what's up? It's Mojo in the morning. Hi. Did we call out any of your – I actually know you wanted to make a comment about the KP thing. Is that right?

00:10:42 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 2:

Yeah. Sorry. For a long-time listener, first-time caller, I've never been on here before.

00:10:47 - 00:10:48 | Speaker 6:

What's going on?

00:10:49 - 00:11:02 | Speaker 2:

So I just wanted to say, you know, I heard KP drop the L word after six weeks. Girl, I get it. I met my wife. I knew after, like, the third day. I know where you're coming from. You're on crutches. You locked in, girl. That's cute. That's cute.

00:11:03 - 00:11:10 | Speaker 6:

Miguel, do you have any weird habits or hobbies that we call any of yours out in this one here?

00:11:12 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 2:

Are you a gamer?

00:11:14 - 00:11:19 | Speaker 6:

I am a gamer. Yeah, gamers is a big one, too. The guys that are really into gaming.

00:11:20 - 00:11:31 | Speaker 2:

I cannot be a gamer. I will say I have a backlog. I just collect stuff. I don't know how my wife tolerates me, but all I do is buy a bunch of stuff, and it stacks. Just know when I'm retired, I will be the best grandpa ever with all these video games ready to go.

00:11:32 - 00:11:39 | Speaker 6:

Oh, that's cool. How about a yoga addict? A guy that's into yoga so much that he just does nonstop yoga. These are all...

00:11:39 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 2:

I will say that's different, and I respect everybody for what they want, but if you want a guy that's flexible, do you. I would probably break myself into trying yoga, so more power to him, but I couldn't do it.

00:11:51 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 8:

I could have never dated a hunter. Yeah. Which I know is a big thing here, but that, like, really, I just...

00:11:58 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 6:

You can't see killing animals, but you eat meat.

00:12:01 - 00:12:03 | Speaker 8:

I understand this. It is...

00:12:03 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 6:

What is Wes's hobby? He's a...

00:12:05 - 00:12:18 | Speaker 8:

He does all, like, the... He does OCR, so it's, like, obstacle course racing, which sounds, like, weird until you see somebody do it, and you're like, holy crap, I could never do that. And, like, the ninja stuff.

00:12:18 - 00:12:22 | Speaker 4:

What's that stuff where they flip around? What's that called? They did it in the office where he was like...

00:12:22 - 00:12:22 | Speaker 8:

Parkour?

00:12:22 - 00:12:25 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, parkour. Yeah. Is it like that kind of?

00:12:25 - 00:12:30 | Speaker 8:

Kind of. Yeah. But there's like running, there's like a big running and swimming and biking component to it too.

00:12:30 - 00:12:35 | Speaker 7:

He does real parkour. I do the office parkour where you just like step up onto a couch and yell parkour and then step off of it.

00:12:36 - 00:12:42 | Speaker 6:

I know a lot of women in my circles because we golf and stuff and a lot of their wives get really upset with the guys' golf trips.

00:12:42 - 00:12:57 | Speaker 8:

So do you want to, it's so crazy you just said that. He said to me last night for his new job, he has to learn how to play golf because that's how they're, they, you know, a lot of, they entertain a lot of clients or whatever. so he's going to reach out to you probably today because he needs to get he needs to buy golf clubs

00:12:57 - 00:13:01 | Speaker 6:

he needs all this stuff we'll hook him up with carl's uh golf and neil neil over carl's i don't

00:13:01 - 00:13:16 | Speaker 7:

have a problem with golfing golfing just takes up so much time right and i feel like a lot of guys i know use it to avoid their responsibilities so if you're not i'll straight up say it you know that we fought in person about it before but i think if you're not avoiding your responsibilities

00:13:16 - 00:13:32 | Speaker 6:

and all that it's fine it's okay what's up kyle hi hey kyle would you date a hacker a what a hacker a hacker a guy that illegally hacks people oh no no no there's a there's actually a legal

00:14:19 - 00:14:26 | Speaker 1:

the most expensive one i probably paid maybe a hundred dollars for and the oldest one is from

00:14:26 - 00:14:41 | Speaker 6:

1972 oh my god i need names does she have a harry bush starling starring maryland chambers oh man that was a big name yeah you know her no that was that's a big uh porn star name yeah

00:14:41 - 00:14:42 | Speaker 5:

That's what I'm saying. You know her?

00:14:42 - 00:14:49 | Speaker 6:

I don't know her. You know her work? But back in the old days, the porn, the women had hair, weighed a lot of hair down there, didn't they?

00:14:49 - 00:14:56 | Speaker 1:

Lots of hair. So you ever heard of Tracy Lortz, right? The story behind Tracy Lortz? We're going to nerd on this one.

00:14:56 - 00:15:05 | Speaker 6:

I've heard her name, but I don't know if I want to get into it, Brian. I won't get into it, but if you see Tracy Lord's videos, buy them. They're worth a fortune.

00:15:06 - 00:15:10 | Speaker 5:

Say her name was Tracy Lord's. Brian, do you have a girl in your life?

00:15:11 - 00:15:14 | Speaker 6:

I am married, and she helps me with my collection. Oh, my God.

00:15:14 - 00:15:18 | Speaker 5:

Do you guys go on, like, weekend getaways and sell them at swap meets?

00:15:18 - 00:15:25 | Speaker 6:

Or, like, garage sales or something? Yeah, and we love upside-down pineapples as well. Got you. You know, you know.

00:15:25 - 00:15:32 | Speaker 2:

But then my question is, like, if you had to put a value on your whole collection, How much do you think it's worth? Genuinely.

00:15:34 - 00:15:44 | Speaker 6:

$200,000 if I have a little value. Oh, my God. Are you serious? Back on the table. Back on the table. So here's my question, though. When I die, who do I will them to? Me. Me.

00:15:48 - 00:15:51 | Speaker 5:

Hold on. Aaron, what did you date? Aaron?

00:15:53 - 00:15:53 | Speaker 6:

Not date.

00:15:53 - 00:15:54 | Speaker 5:

It's who I am.

00:15:54 - 00:15:56 | Speaker 6:

I'm an anime lover.

00:15:56 - 00:16:00 | Speaker 5:

An anime lover. Okay. Yeah, you're into anime.

00:16:00 - 00:16:04 | Speaker 6:

Little Naruto? Yeah, I watch all the shows, and I collect, like, the Funko Pops and the figures.

00:16:05 - 00:16:34 | Speaker 5:

Okay. By the way, your voice is perfect for this. Hi, I'm an anime lover. I love anime. Don't let him do that to you. Stand up to him. No, no. Oh, no, I'm used to it. I can change my voice and everything. I love that. He's going to run at you in the hallway like this. He's going to get that element of fire and hit you with it. I'm going to stop. He's going to throw his hands in the back and run at you. Wait, what are you? What's your favorite anime?

00:16:35 - 00:16:37 | Speaker 6:

I'm crying. Right now, Demon Slayer.

00:16:37 - 00:16:46 | Speaker 5:

All right. Me too. I love it. Hey, thank you for calling, man. I appreciate it. Do you listen to the show often?

00:16:47 - 00:16:53 | Speaker 6:

Every morning. I'm a FedEx driver, and every morning I turn you guys on. Thank you so much. Thank you.

00:16:54 - 00:17:20 | Speaker 3:

This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

00:17:31 - 00:18:16 | Speaker 1:

Allen Lee, my major is drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year, and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year yet. I don't think I was mentally prepared. I found Bishop State. They had the program. I met a few people there. I ended up enrolling. The instructor, first day I met him, I told him about my background. He said, okay, great, you know about this. He built me straight to work. He didn't let me have any leeway. He pushed me to my limits. So I think that made me choose drafting and design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing. All my instructors just want to see me succeed. They want to push me to my limit. They want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be. And I really appreciate all of them.
