Man, so it's funny because I look at you and I see, you know, you're 21 years old and yet everything about you, you could probably not have to worry about a fake ID. They probably wouldn't even card you because you look like you're, you know, five, 10 years older than you actually are. Yeah, I've heard that a couple times. Man, and you play basketball like nothing I've ever seen before. We're so excited that you're a Piston. yes sir i appreciate that man that means a lot you know it's funny i i watch all the uh you know the post-game stuff with you guys you guys truly seem more connected than any teams i've seen in the past like you guys seem like a family you and in the rest of the guys cade and everybody

yeah yeah um yeah man i mean we're like brothers uh i think you know i really think it's because Because a lot of the guys have been there, especially over the last couple of years, you know, we're all around the same age. You know, we're all like one, two years apart. So it was kind of easy to relate that.

everybody and kind of build a connection early on and i feel like most of us like we always talk about how we kind of been through high school together like at certain times we kind of crossed paths before the nba so yeah the connection kind of always been there but now we're kind of

all together and it's you know it's it's that aau thing too right in college and college and stuff you guys all end up you know each other you play against each other you know you kind of know where everybody's gonna go to school and then eventually get drafted and stuff do you guys live right by each other here in town or do you guys you know like why do I picture that you guys are so close you guys all live in the same condo complex or something you know

nah it's not like that I mean we all when we go out separated everybody has their families and what not but we spend so much time at the facilities and on the road that you know we get enough of each other so it's good to kind of have that you know your down time and get away from the team

that's good You know, Kevin is here right now. This guy who gets the crowd all crazy, like he and Mason, you know, get everybody nuts. Kevin, you get to work with these guys on a daily basis, these players. In all the years that you've been with the Pistons, have you ever seen a team chemistry like this?

No, and I mean, just comparing it to last year, I think this year, with the addition of the veteran guys, you got Malik and Tobias and Tim and Paul, guys, you know, Dennis now joining the team. I think it's allowed for our guys to see what leadership looks like. And like you said, the camaraderie, man, you just can't deny it when you see it. I mean, the dog pound. I mean, J.D. in particular, man, I want to ask you, what is the difference between you personally this year and last year? Like, you were a beast last year, but this year it's like you a guaranteed walking double-double every single night.

I mean, I would credit that to just, you know, growing, learning more about the game, watching film. And I will credit that to my teammates. You know, I can't say it's just me, my teammates, my coaching staff, you know, just helping me develop into a better player. You know what I mean? I hope to continue taking strides, and this should only be the beginning.

And Coach Bickerstaff gets you guys. Like, I feel like he's having fun with you guys, too. Like, it seems like you guys, even on the bench, you guys are goofing a little bit more. Last year just felt like everybody was uncomfortable.

yeah uh i mean jb jb he's my god man jb is a great person first and foremost he's a great man he's a great leader more than just a coach uh i would say the funniest thing about jb when it comes to that stuff is kind of like i feel like i've seen an interview and he had talked about how uh there's two personalities on and off the court and that couldn't have been more true for me just kind of being around him, you know, off the court, he's like a, you know, he's happy, he's chill, really calm, cool, collected guy, but, man, once we get him between those lines, he's coaching, man, the intensity rises to another level, and I think that we feed off that, and I think, you know, that's just a testament to the coach that he is and what he's brought to this team.

Is she the dentist? I mean, who is she? I would definitely say you, Kay. You get the offense mixing. Okay. But when you're ready to score and take over the game, you can definitely do that. I can go and do it. I would say I'm Isaiah Stewart. I'm all about, you know, protecting my people that's on the show. And if I need to act up and get a little wild and put that energy out there, you know it's coming. Okay. Shannon, I would say, is Jaden Ivey. She's reliable. She's consistent. When she's in the game, you know what you're going to get for her. Thanks, Kev. I would say Megan is Malik Beasley. When Megan is shooting, you know it's going in. Hey, I will say this, though. One thing in making you look like this, a little known fact about Jalen is he's a dog lover. I don't think a lot of people know that. Talk about your dogs, man.

Oh, man. Those, like, they my world. Honestly, I mean, they're like my kids.

Like, they're everything. I don't even know how to explain it. I feel like if you have dogs, you will understand kind of where I'm coming from.

Or psychos. Yeah.

Yeah, yeah. It's like they get everything. You know, they chew up stuff, and I don't even get mad anymore. Really? They get all the toys they want.

Have they ever chewed up anything important for you? Like, you know, like your shoes or anything like that?

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, all the time. It got to the point where it's kind of like I've learned to kind of be more responsible and not leave anything and get it, but I love them. I got a cane Corso and a Labrador Retriever.

Damn, cane Corso's are huge. Who watches when you're on the road? Like you just had that long road trip. Who's taking care of the dogs?

Between I have a dog sitter that I've been working with for years, and she's been kind enough to watch them over the last few years. She has a great assistant program or just, you know, family. That's good. I'll be having a family in town that kind of helps me out.

Do you baby talk your dogs in that deep voice? Because everybody has a different voice that they talk to their dogs with. It is true. You can't deny that.

It's crazy because I do find myself, like, not even thinking about it, just baby talking. Yeah. Like you said, coming off the road, like a long road trip, I haven't seen them in a while. I'm for sure a baby.

Jalen, I have to tell you, I think it was you. I was getting a pedicure maybe a week or two ago, and I think you were sitting in the pedicure chair next to me.

Because the wildest part about that team was that team was built around the city. Like it was built for, you know, what Detroit's all about. You know, the grit that you hear everybody talking about with the Lions and stuff like that. But your team right now is the youthful grit. So that's the part that we like. You guys are scrappy. I would not mess around if I was somebody. I wouldn't want to play you guys first round of a playoff series.

Yeah, I mean, we're going to get at it. We go out there and leave everything on the line. We understand, like you said, it's kind of like what the city is built on. Hard work, kind of getting it out the mud. So we embody that. And I feel like we all kind of played a chip on our shoulders. so it just, you know, came together well.
