You know, I've got great connections with my cop friends that work for the Sheriff's Department for Wayne County and Oakland County. I don't have any good DPD contacts right now. ever since Police Chief Craig, who, by the way, just announced he's going to run for mayor.

I saw that.

He's running for mayor. It's going to be, I have not given an endorsement yet because I'm contemplating running too.

Are you? Aren't there like 10 candidates at this point?

There's 10. There may be 11 with me.

Well, here's what I think. If we do enough people, I might have a chance. Yeah. I think I might. Wouldn't it be weird if I got in as the Detroit police chief, or not police chief, the Detroit mayor? but I can't get into the Radio Michigan Association of Broadcasters and National Hall of Fame. Is that unbelievable? But I could be the mayor, and then you know what I do? I take over the city, and I make Detroit still great.

Otherwise, he would be one talking about the big event that's happening on Saturday, March the 14th. But first, let's talk about what you got going on on March the 11th.

Okay. So on the 11th, we have this event called DPD Great. And what happened was our field recruiters were going out. People were asking questions about the jobs and they were kind of nervous about asking police officers about how to become police officers. And the field recruiters came up with this idea, like, let's just give them a safe space to come and ask questions, give them resources in addition to asking those questions. Like if they need help with tickets or if they have questions about court, let's have all this at one place.

So wait, so people who want to be police officers may have like a ding in their traffic record or they may have something that has happened in the past.

Or maybe they think they're not physically fit enough to go through the program. Absolutely. Absolutely.

And they worry that that could potentially keep them out of even any kind of a job. Yep. Let alone a police officer's job. So at this event, that is going to be.

Or when you say traffic violations and stuff, I think it's good to be able to have something like that because I think people get intimidated and then they don't show up. And they miss out on a great career opportunity. I mean, you guys start people off at a pretty good salary, don't you?

Oh, yeah. So they start off in the academy at $48,000 right now. But listen.

But listen, that's just like for six months. They get a bump after they graduate. And then once they meet their year mark, they'll be at $62,000. Wow. But guess what? After four years, okay? And with education, you could be up to $91,000.

7 till 5 o'clock. 7 in the morning till 5 o'clock. That's where the process will take place, where you can complete most of that process in one day. You can learn all the details about what's going to happen. And honestly, if you're somebody that's looking for a new career, if you're somebody that is, you know, said to yourself, hey, you know what? This is it. I want to put the badge on. Or you want to do any of the other opportunities that the Detroit Police Department has, because you guys are hiring from top to bottom. I mean, that's.

Oh, wow. That's a great question. I was 10 years old. I went to the store with my dad. He told me to go in to grab a Werner's, a pot, and to come right back out. I didn't. I saw the candy sticks and started picking the kind of candies that I wanted, came out, and my dad was robbed. It was the first time I ever saw my father cry because the person who robbed him had a gun. He was with another guy, and the other guy was telling him to shoot my dad. And.

Again, that was the first time I've ever seen my dad cry. We went to the police station, and the officer on the desk that took his report, oh, he was just not nice. He treated my dad like crap. And at that point, I said, I'm going to be a police officer, and I'm going to treat people with dignity and respect. Oh, that story is an amazing story.

I love that story. can i tell you why i love that story because i will say this to you as a white man i don't feel the same way that my black male friends feel and i have black black male friends i got being out and about and stuff and you see that they put their hoods down like they have to like they have to feel because they feel different they feel like they're targeted they feel you know totally different and i see you know wonderful african-american police officers that are serving and protecting and i think it gives comfort also to the community too so i think that's awesome good for you i'm doing that and you know what 90k if i can get up to 90k and college tuition reimbursement i'm reading here

We were like, okay, we're moving to the city of Detroit. Oh, my God. I got to do the drive now. I got to, like, go into the city. I didn't know neighborhoods and stuff like that. I have felt so amazing here in the city. And I thank you guys for being that, that you guys, you know, I see you. I see, not you specifically, but I see officers all over the place. Yeah.
