Mojo in the Morning's Dirty on the 30

00:01:32 - 00:01:38 | Speaker 4:

Alright Shannon with What's Trending in the Dirty on the 30 What's the lead story today

00:01:38 - 00:02:13 | Speaker 6:

Well it is the Oscars If you didn't stay up to watch Last night the movie that cost Only like 6 million dollars To make Onora Was the big winner Named Best Picture Mikey Madison winning the trophy For Best Actress Sean Baker earning the honors Her best director, best original screenplay, best editing, the show kicking off with Ariana Grande singing a beautiful version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, wearing this red dress that was just absolutely stunning. She was then joined on stage by her Wicked co-star, Cynthia Erivo.

00:02:13 - 00:02:30 | Speaker 2:

In all of us, no wizard that there is or was is ever gonna bring me down to my feet.

00:02:32 - 00:02:35 | Speaker 6:

Why do I get tears in my eyes every time I'm talented?

00:02:36 - 00:02:45 | Speaker 4:

I did not know that Cynthia Erivo is bald. I did not know that. She's been bald for years. I've only seen her in that movie. the Wicked movies. She had a hat on.

00:02:45 - 00:02:47 | Speaker 7:

And a wig. That's the only thing you've seen her in?

00:02:47 - 00:02:50 | Speaker 4:

That's the only thing I've seen. You gotta watch her other stuff, man. What is she in besides that?

00:02:51 - 00:02:57 | Speaker 5:

Harriet. I've never watched it. That's about Harriet Tubman. You don't like the movie Widows, because it's a bunch of girls in that one.

00:02:57 - 00:03:05 | Speaker 4:

I gotta be honest with you. I watched the Oscars and any movie that I watched, which I think I only saw Wicked this entire year. You and

00:03:05 - 00:03:07 | Speaker 6:

everybody else in the United States of America.

00:03:07 - 00:03:35 | Speaker 4:

And I think the Oscars are like to the Grammy, or like the Grammys. They give the awards to the movies that you don't think are going to win and it's kind of interesting because you know they gave it to the low budget and didn't you know like uh whatever uh artsy kind of movie and i go man wouldn't they get better ratings if they started like just giving the awards to like the big movies that everybody sees i don't think you can compare the oscars and the grammys because

00:03:35 - 00:03:47 | Speaker 6:

the grammys you watch you know all the songs you know all the artists the oscars to me has always felt very inside it's a bunch of inside jokes that we get a small portion yeah and you know

00:03:47 - 00:04:05 | Speaker 7:

two awards of last night that i completely disagree with but um what i love about it is it gets more people to watch movies that are phenomenal that maybe didn't have the budget to do a multi-million dollar advertising campaign like an aura and when they do the uh parts of

00:04:05 - 00:04:11 | Speaker 4:

the oscars like where there's like the technical stuff or the i'm like do i care i don't really

00:04:11 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 5:

care like they should do that you're not a film guy i feel like if you just give the oscars or whatever awards to the most popular people it cheapens it yeah it has to be about the heart

00:04:20 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 4:

and the performance yeah i i asked kev last night in a text we were going back and forth texting i didn't know you didn't watch it weren't watching the oscars i thought you were watching um i said what would get a bigger draft or bigger uh ratings if the nfl draft went against the oscars on the same night, who would get the number one rated

00:04:37 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 5:

time slot? Oscars. No, I said the first hour would easily go to the NFL draft because everybody cares about the number one pick, number two pick. After that, then I feel like

00:04:48 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 6:

you got to earn it. Well, the Oscar, because a lot of the bigger awards for the most part are later in the show. But Adrian Brody voted best actor for The Brutalist. Zoe Zaldana named best supporting actress for Emilia Perez.

00:05:00 - 00:05:07 | Speaker 4:

Kieran Culkin, who I think had the best acceptance speech of the night by far, won for Best Supporting Actor for a real pain.

00:05:08 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 2:

About a year ago, I was on a stage like this, and I very stupidly publicly said that I won a third kid from her because she said if I won the award, she would give me the kid. Turns out she said that because she didn't think I was going to win. And people came up to her and were like, you know, really annoying her. I think it got to her. But anyway, after the show, we're walking through a parking lot. She's holding the M. We were trying to find our car. Emily, you were there, so you're a witness. And she goes, oh, God, I did say that. I guess I owe you a third kid. And I turned to her and I said, really, I want four. And she turned to me. I swear to God, this happened. It was just over a year ago. She said, I will give you four when you win an Oscar.

00:05:46 - 00:05:53 | Speaker 4:

His wife is agreeing. He was beautiful, by the way, to all of this whole story. She's like, yep, yep. And he said, okay, let's get to work.

00:05:53 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 5:

Do y'all feel like he's more famous than his brother now?

00:05:56 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. Oh, yeah. You think so? No. I don't know. I mean, Succession, this movie, yeah. Bigger than Macaulay Culkin. Macaulay Culkin is an icon, especially for Home Alone, you know, but. I don't know. Kieran Culkin is the better actor by far.

00:06:15 - 00:06:20 | Speaker 5:

We only know that because Macaulay hasn't really done a lot, has he, as an adult? He did something recently.

00:06:20 - 00:06:21 | Speaker 4:

Also fair.

00:06:21 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 5:

I mean, he was a great child actor.

00:06:23 - 00:06:36 | Speaker 4:

Yeah. Wicked, by the way, going back to only got recognized for best costumes and best. Best production design. Some called that a snub. I would agree with that. Conan O'Brien took on hosting duties last night, by the way.

00:06:36 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 6:

Well, we're halfway through the show, which means it's time for Kendrick Lamar to come out and call Drake a pedophile. Don't worry, I'm lawyered up. Anyway.

00:06:52 - 00:07:15 | Speaker 4:

Also during last night's show, a tribute to the James Bond film franchise that included a medley of songs sung by Lisa Rae. And I don't know what Doja Cat was singing, but she was up there. Oh, don't do that. Come on, come on. You can't even sugarcoat that. I mean, that's what it was good. No, they did not. It was really bad. Queen Latifah also sang Eason Down the Road from The Wiz in honor of the late Quincy Jones.

00:07:16 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 2:

We got to play some Doja next hour. We got to see. I will.

00:07:18 - 00:07:36 | Speaker 4:

And I'll read you some of the comments on social media. I'm sure you saw a piece of this at some point over the weekend. President Trump tossing Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky from the White House on Friday after they got into a heated back and forth in the Oval Office. J.D. Vance, part of that as well.

00:07:36 - 00:07:41 | Speaker 8:

You're not winning this. You have a damn good chance of coming out okay because of us.

00:07:41 - 00:07:51 | Speaker 7:

Mr. President, we are staying in our country, staying strong from the very beginning of the war. We've been alone and we are thankful. I said thanks in this cabinet. You're not going to play this whole thing.

00:07:51 - 00:08:02 | Speaker 8:

We gave you, through the stupid president, $350 billion. Back and forth. We gave you military equipment. Uh-huh. Yeah, right. Uh-huh. Wow. That is fascinating.

00:08:02 - 00:08:39 | Speaker 4:

Camera's obviously there to capture all of this. But after that happened, Trump cut peace talks with Zelensky Short, canceled their press conference, and did ask him to leave the White House. And lastly, the L.A. Rams agreed to a restructured deal with quarterback Matthew Stafford that keeps him with the team. I know a lot of people were wondering what the heck he was going to do. The specifics of that contract expected to be finalized over the next couple of weeks. I know last week the Rams gave him permission to look into a trade, but after talks with the Raiders, I think he talked with the Giants as well. He made the decision to stay in L.A.

00:08:39 - 00:09:22 | Speaker 5:

They say that he left on the table a crazy amount of money that the Raiders were willing to offer him to go and play in Las Vegas. and they say that a lot of people told the NFL it would look really bad if Tom Brady were to have met with him. He did meet with him like a week or two weeks ago. I guess they went and hung out together. Kind of almost similar to how it happened when he became a Ram. Remember the coach of the Rams, McVay, and him were vacationing in the same spot in Cabo? And then that's how that trade ended up working. They said it would look really bad if that happened. But, yeah, supposedly he was about ready to be the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. The Vegas Raiders were going to pay on that, and he decided to stay in at the Rams. I don't know.
