Only 65 years old. His daughter, Mercedes, said the official cause of death was pneumonia, but we know he had been battling throat cancer for several years. And, you know, I think Top Gun Maverick, please correct me if I'm wrong, was his last movie. And it was kind of a surprise to everybody that he was even in that because he really kind of went away from Hollywood after his diagnosis, lived on a ranch in New Mexico, spent his time painting. And he also helped oversee theater programs for high school students, which was really cool, but just so darn sad.

He had throat cancer and had to have throat surgery back in the mid 2000s. Had a trach. And because of that, it caused for permanent damage. In any movie that he was in, after his throat cancer, they had to have people overdub for him because he couldn't speak. But there was many people that rumored that his long smoking gave him that. But then a lot of people rumored, and this is the story I was going to tell Shannon off the air, but I was like, save it for the air. A lot of people rumored that he was just like Michael Douglas and got throat cancer from oral, getting oral. Really?

That can happen?

Yeah, that you can get a form of cancer from performing.
