This is the Bishop Statement at Bishop State Community College. We want you to hear what our students, educators, and business leaders have to say.

Alan Lee, my major is drafting and design. In high school, I did it since my sophomore year, and I kind of wanted to continue it. It was the only thing I was good at. I didn't want to move to a four-year yet. I don't think I was mentally prepared. I found Bishop State. They had the program. I met a few people there. I ended up enrolling. The instructor, first I met him, I told him about my background. He said, okay, great, you know about this. He built me straight to work. He didn't let me have any leeway. He pushed me to my limits. So I think that made me choose drafting design at Bishop State and stuck with it. The sport's amazing. All my instructors just want to see me succeed. They want to push me to my limit. They want to see me be the best I can be, get a job, just be as successful as I can be. And I really appreciate all of them. With my degree, as of right now, my plan is to work for the city of Mobile with their urban planning department. Mojo in the Morning's Dirty on the 30.

All right, we're going to get you caught up on what's trending this morning in the Dirty on the 30. Shannon, good morning.

Good morning. So this murder in New York City yesterday, Brian Thompson, the CEO of insurance giant UnitedHealthcare, shot in the chest outside of the fancy Hilton Midtown Hotel in what police are calling a targeted attack. So his killer used a firearm with a silencer firing at Thompson multiple times, striking him right in the back and then also in his right calf before fleeing the scene on foot. I mean, he just blended in with the rest of the pedestrians right there, except he was wearing a mask, but ran into Central Park where he hopped on an e-bike. He is still at large. Now, Thompson was named CEO of UnitedHealth back in 2021. He had been with the company for like 20 plus years. Worthy to note, he was one of several senior executives at UnitedHealthcare that were under investigation for insider trading. I know his wife came out a couple of hours ago and said that her husband had been getting threats before he was killed. So this guy's from Minnesota, flies into New York City for this conference of sorts that they're having. And this happens at 645 yesterday morning. And the NYPD is investigating a possible message, which appears to include the words deny, depose and defend. And those words were engraved on live rounds and shell casings that were found at the scene, which to me just I mean, this whole thing is just very fishy. This is NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tish speaking.

Every indication is that this was a premeditated, preplanned, targeted attack.

You know what's weird about the whole thing is here's a guy who's in charge of one of the biggest companies in our country, UnitedHealthcare, biggest health care company. Guy's making 10 plus million dollars a year, just base salary. So the guy's loaded. How is that guy not have security or even have the driver that drives him right into the area where he goes? Like, he was walking the sidewalk in front of the hotel that they were doing this thing at.

He's from Minnesota, bro. He's a regular dude.

No. Dan Gilbert is a regular dude. Dan Gilbert has security and has teams that go with him.

But I feel like Dan is way more famous than this guy. He was also famous for the LeBron situation when LeBron left and his comments on him. Like, he's way more in a public eye than this guy.

Kev, this guy, no. See, I think we're out of it.

Okay, how many people knew what this guy looked like and knew his name before he answered the house?

You don't unless you have an issue with him.

Exactly.

But that's the problem.

This guy is, it's like the CEO of Chase. Do you know what Jamie Dimon looks like? No. He is the biggest CEO in the country. You don't know what he looks like. No. He's got security and he's got teams. He's the biggest, most, he's like Elon Musk-ish.

I get what you're saying, Kev, but if you took issue with the CEO of Chase, you would...

You would study up on him. You would know what he looked like. And that's why those people have security.

But even to meet you guys both in the middle, if the wife has come out and said he was receiving threats, he should have security.

I don't think this was an everyday killing, though.

I think that flat out. I think that it's one of two things. It's either the fact that he was part of this thing where he was going to go tell everybody who was doing wrongdoing as far as insider trading or whatever. or it was somebody who's got denied and is upset because UnitedHealthcare denies more people than any of the other healthcare companies.

And I think it was somebody close to him is dying or did die and he's angry. And here's why I think it's that and not the insider trading. Because if it's the insider trading part and it's one of the other very wealthy whatever people that is going to get called out in that deposition, you hire Hitman, right? They're not doing it themselves. they hired somebody to do it and if you hired somebody to do it and you engrave the bullets or the shell casings with those words you're giving the police a huge clue in order to find you this to me comes off as pure crime of passion and that means they've been affected personally by his actions and i feel like it's going to be a death versus going to jail or you could throw

him off the scent by making it look like it's a crime of passion i think he was about to snitch roll on some of the homies, and they hired somebody to clip them. I didn't know you could just buy silencers. This is like James Bourne. This is a crazy story. Whatever Bourne I do. Jason Bourne. James Bond.

Can I say one last thing? I want to do. One last thing with this. It's amazing when you look at, if you watch some of the news clips, all the New Yorkers that are there, though, they all knew what this guy, they said, this guy was suspicious. We knew he looked suspicious. Because it was a guy who was so bundled up, and the weather was not. Today is crazy in New York, cold-wise. But he looked like he was going out on a day like today.

Bro had a silencer on that thing. That's deep. All right, influencer Brecky Hill reposted some TikToks that allegedly confirmed that Barry Keegan cheated on Sabrina Carpenter with her. This girl, man, she got mad rap. I know you think she's really cute, Kev, but we broke the story yesterday that Sabrina and Barry had broken up after a year of dating, and there was a hair in the butter, and that hair had a name, and it was Brecky Hill. she kind of alluded to the fact that this little fling this little affair was happening on her social media a while ago for example she posted a photo of herself drinking a margarita while on a mystery date on november 18th and she wrote over the image kind of salty which everybody was like well that's a direct reference to barry's film salt burn yeah okay and then she also reposted a tiktok that flat out said in the caption trouble in paradise it has been confirmed Barry cheated on Sabrina with TikTok influencer Brecky Hill. I think that was from Dumont, and she reposted it.

So, boom, that's that. That, to me, is not as damning because I'm going to be honest. If I'm a social media influencer and you say that I'm dating one of the biggest celebrities right now.

But if it's false, you at least comment false. Okay, fair. Fair. Or I wish.

Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Brecky Hill with the side boob tat. Okay.

One Direction was reportedly planning a comeback before Liam Bain's tragic death. All five original members, including Zayn Malik, who quit the band, had been in talks to do one last reunion show before Liam's fatal fall last month. And although the plans have been placed on hold, I cannot talk right now, a source of mine said a concert is still a possibility, but it would take on an entirely different meaning for the group. It would be a tribute, so, to Liam. And the guys were not that close before his death. Like, they kind of all went on to live their separate lives and separate careers. But his death served as a wake-up call for Harry and Niall and Louis and Zayn. They're all, you know, checking in on each other and are closer than they have been in years. So, unfortunately, and this happens, his death kind of brought them all back together. And now we know that Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan is officially making a run for the governor's seat here in Michigan. He said he will run as an independent and not seek the Democratic nomination in 2026, which is interesting considering he is a longtime Democrat. And his thought, the mayor said his approach just didn't fit comfortably inside the dogma of either of the two main political parties. However, local fours Ty Steele and Devin Skillian were chatting about this yesterday and had this take.

Sometimes it looks like while everybody else is playing political checkers, Mike Duggan is playing Hi-Li. There's some strategy behind this. There's a lot of strategy to this. And for starters, we've all, political junkies like me, have sort of been salivating over what looks to be this battle of titans. What we thought was going to be.

I don't know, but Devin's a very smart man who just retired, so we no longer have him after the first year. I love Devin's going. They should keep him just doing political stuff. I think Mike Duggan did an amazing job with Detroit, and it'll be interesting if he should win the governor's race to see what he would do with Michigan. That Pete Buttigieg thing's interesting. I have not heard Pete Buttigieg wants to run for the governor of Michigan. I know that he has a place on the west side of the state in Traverse City, but that would be wild, huh?

Metarica Terry LaMille and my major is general education. Some of the obstacles I have overcame at Bishop State is proving that I can show up consistently even when my life was heavy. There are moments where I still feel overwhelmed by balancing work, leadership, parenting, and school but Bishop reminded me that I'm capable of growth and not perfection, that I'm supported as long as I'm committed to being a better person than I was yesterday. My peers can depend on me. I'm there being poured into, but some of those students don't know that the faculty and staff are really there for them. So when they don't know that, I'm their resource that explain and show them that they're here to help us.
