A new study of 2,000 adults who celebrate the holidays found that 31%, that's a pretty good chunk, are bored with the usual Christmas things and would like to see more unique alternatives during the lead up to the big day. And of those bored with this idea, they say a meal switch up would be an easy one. Pizza, tacos, even Chinese takeout were mentioned as preferred options over the traditional turkey or ham. 47% would prefer to spend Christmas the entire day in their pajamas rather than getting dressed up. 18% like the idea of doing a friends-only Christmas. And 35% would choose to focus on quality time versus gifts or decorations. The top 10 Christmas traditions that Americans would be open to swapping or getting rid of, sending Christmas cards, ugly sweater parties, Mojo, you talked about that last week, gift giving, secret Santa exchanges, listening to Christmas songs, watching Christmas movies, elf on the shelf, Christmas lights, holiday baking, and decorating a Christmas tree. And some of the things that Americans would prefer to do instead, take a vacation, go on a quiet solo retreat, spend the day volunteering, giving and receiving DIY gifts only, and swapping gifts for handwritten letters of gratitude instead.
