new car or $20,000. Mojo in the mornings, dirty on the 30. All right, Shannon, what do you got

00:02:36 - 00:02:49 | Speaker 7:

in this hour's dirty on the 30? Well, I'm going to start off with a dirty update on the dirty lettuce situation. We found out yesterday that Taylor Farms not responsible for the explosive

00:02:49 - 00:04:15 | Speaker 6:

diarrhea parasite. Okay, why is Taylor Farms saying that the FDA issued it an apology over the cyclospora outbreak? And does that mean we don't actually know what's cost thousands of people across the Midwest to get so sick? No, here's what's actually going on. The outbreak has still been traced back to iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms, with many people, although not all, saying that they ate at Taco Bell locations across five states. Now, these illnesses started in mid-May, so food experts tell us it's likely that the food that made them sick is long gone at this point. The FDA, as part of its outbreak investigation, started testing samples as part of what it calls targeted import surveillance. And on Saturday, it said that a sample of Taylor Farms' shredded iceberg lettuce had tested positive for cyclospora. Now, this was lettuce that was not included in the ongoing recall. The next day, the FDA said, actually, no, that should be considered a false positive. But the ongoing recall still stands. The FDA on Monday cited, quote, overwhelming epidemiological data. So Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, and several other food suppliers said they've removed recalled lettuce. Walmart also said it removed some products as a precaution, with sell-by dates out to August 3rd. So how worried do you need to be right now? Well, Rutgers food safety expert Dr. Donald Schaffner tells us that the food that started making people sick likely is not out there anymore. But we may still see case counts rise as people who are already sick are added. Let me tell you something.

00:04:15 - 00:04:25 | Speaker 7:

I went and got my nails done. Yeah. And I sat right next to this lady who was describing in detail her symptoms from having this parasite after eating at Taco Bell.

00:04:26 - 00:04:26 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:04:26 - 00:04:34 | Speaker 7:

I was like, I'm talking detail about the consistency of her diarrhea. I was like, please.

00:04:34 - 00:04:36 | Speaker 6:

Don't scare us. She just ate it yesterday.

00:04:36 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 3:

Shannon, I saw a TikTok yesterday from a daughter of a guy that works for Taylor Farms talking about the conditions of the people that work for the Taylor Farms and why potentially there could be bacteria that gets involved.

00:04:51 - 00:04:51 | Speaker 7:

Yeah.

00:04:52 - 00:05:16 | Speaker 3:

And don't watch that TikTok. That's all I'm going to say. But it is interesting to know that they believe it came from I don't know. there and then they say well we had a false positive because i think it was honestly mixed news and information because they're saying it was from the taylor farms lettuce but the samples that they took as of finding people were sick it was all clean lettuce that was just those samples

00:05:16 - 00:06:12 | Speaker 1:

so i i did hear a statistic this morning that taco bell sales are down about 19 percent from this time last year because of this yeah yeah uh longtime university of michigan athletic director award manual going to be stepping down at the end of the year that announcement made yesterday the school also released a summary of that in independent investigation into the culture of the scandal-plagued athletic department which ended up concluding that the issues were not widespread among said issues several ncaa run-ins legal issues involving assistant football coaches and of course the big one the firing of sharon moore for having an inappropriate relationship with another staff member by the way that independent investigation you guys has already cost the university of michigan 12 million dollars wow isn't that insane the craziest is that you

00:06:12 - 00:06:23 | Speaker 3:

think about it his resume aside from all the scandals win a national championship in football win a national championship in basketball amazing softball i mean all his all of the programs have

00:06:23 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 1:

all done very very well yeah and lastly former pittsburgh stealer star running back levy on belt, busted over the weekend for failing to pay child support, like $50,000 in child support is what he owed. And I'm just getting some more details about this. So his attorney said the child support payments were based on a healthy NFL salary, quote unquote, a salary he has not earned in years. So his attorney is saying he should be paying off of his current income. Now, the child in question lives here in Michigan, which is why the Michigan Attorney General has this case. He lives in California, but his attorney is saying he actually already used a portion of his NFL pension to pay this $50,000 in child support. I think now the question is moving forward, but was he on an autograph signing or something when he was arrested?

00:07:21 - 00:07:30 | Speaker 3:

I don't know. I saw the arrest video and they didn't cuff him or anything like that. They just kind of let him go in the back of the car. But I didn't realize that you could actually arrest somebody for child support.

00:07:30 - 00:07:42 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, well, and he also, remember, he had a run-in last year, the year before, because of a sexual abuse case that he was ordered to pay $25 million for as a default judgment.

00:07:42 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 3:

Before you end the dirty, I want to bring on a friend of mine. His name is Dave Plyer. Dave is the director of the Museum of Broadcast Communications. did you know that there is a museum not that far from us in chicago so everybody in grand rapids detroit toledo you go to chicago you're looking for something fun to do and it's a museum that basically is about radio television broadcasting and some of the cool things that you've seen

00:08:07 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 1:

on tv like some of the cool you know some of the sets some of the desks from late night shows oh

00:08:12 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 3:

of people use these type of events and these experience things through charity buzz to have like three or four items we have 50 items that right now is up for auction to benefit the museum our educational mission and so forth there is three big ones that are going for some big money right now and that is uh having lunch with bob odenkirk so better call saul of course tv icon Henry Winkler, another Chicago guy, Joe Mantegna, who's still doing, I think he's on the 40th season of Criminal Minds right now through CBS and Paramount. So there's some really cool things like that on there. And then almost 95-year-old Barbara Eden will sign a genie bottle for you.

00:10:00 - 00:10:26 | Speaker 5:

And she's not going to be doing that for much longer, but she is another television icon doing things. But you can have a bit on a sideline experience, game day experience with Kayla Williams with the Chicago Bears, Smashing Pumpkins backstage, Billy Corgan, Meat and Greed, Boy Dog Pondering. It's music, it's TV, it's the movies, it's some really cool stuff.

00:10:26 - 00:10:58 | Speaker 4:

And iHeartRadio contributed a bunch to this, including you get to choose two of the Jingle Balls with a choice of cities like New York, Los Angeles, which we've had in the past, the biggest artists at those. Chicago, Detroit could be one of your cities. And then in studios with not just us here on the Mojo in the Morning Show, but the Breakfast Club with Charlemagne the God and Envy. The Elvis Duran show out of New York City, which Elvis is a national show. I mean, there's all kinds of cool stuff on here.

00:10:58 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 3:

There really is. I'm looking at it now.

00:11:00 - 00:11:09 | Speaker 4:

The site to go to is, there's an app for it. You can download it. It's called Charity Buzz. Or what is the website for the museum to do this, Dave?

00:11:10 - 00:11:19 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, you can click through right on our front page. You'll see Front Row Experiences, and you can click on that, and that's at museum.tv. Museum.tv. Very simple.

00:11:19 - 00:11:41 | Speaker 4:

Museum.tv. I promise you guys, if you've gone to Chicago, you've probably gone to some cool museums. Museum of Science and Industry. The Art Museum is beautiful. All those are cool. This is one of the cooler museums in Chicago, and it's because of this man right here, Dave. We went there for my Hall of Fame induction, and it was brand new location. You should see what it looks like now.

00:11:41 - 00:11:43 | Speaker 3:

Oh, see, now I have to go back.

00:11:43 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 4:

Shannon, it's completely different. And honestly, if we want to go to Chicago, let's do a trip to Chicago. I know Lollapalooza is coming up, and that would be a fun time to go, but go visit the museum. It is very cool.

00:11:54 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 3:

Well, it's something just different to do that you will genuinely enjoy because you recognize everything in there.

00:11:59 - 00:12:17 | Speaker 4:

My sister, Pat, by the way, is really excited about the Chicagos. She loves watching Chicago PD and Chicago Fire. So that's one that we're going for. And then WGN in Chicago is a big TV station. Their morning news show, Pat is like obsessed with.

00:12:17 - 00:12:18 | Speaker 2:

00:12:35 - 00:12:39 | Speaker 4:

Want to broadcast from there? Dave, would you let us broadcast from the museum?

00:12:40 - 00:12:43 | Speaker 5:

Oh, yeah, I'm all set up for that. Let's do it. That would be so fun.

00:12:43 - 00:12:48 | Speaker 4:

Let's do it. Let's do a Chicago broadcast. We'll get out there, Dave, and we'll broadcast from there.
