Moto in the Morning's Dirty on the 30.

00:02:08 - 00:02:12 | Speaker 9:

All right, Shannon with the Dirty on the 30. What's going on, Shannon?

00:02:12 - 00:02:53 | Speaker 5:

So the latest on Aiden Hutchinson's gruesome leg injury that he sustained during last night's game. If you are squeamish, just a fair warning to you, don't watch the video. But while sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in the third quarter, Hutch's leg whipped around and hit, like literally hit his teammate. Is it Alan McNeil? Is that how you say his name? McNeil for sure. I know it's McNeil. I didn't know how you pronounce his first name. Anyway, he kept mouthing while he was laying on the ground, I broke it. It's broken. So they brought out the air cast. He was eventually carted off on a stretcher. The broken tibia, which is what it was, required immediate surgery at a Dallas area hospital. Here's Dan Campbell after the game.

00:02:54 - 00:03:13 | Speaker 3:

He's in good hands right now. He's being taken care of. He'll stay back here. And, you know, obviously he's going to be down for a little while. And so that's tough, man. It's hard when you lose somebody like him. And but we'll know a lot more after this and obviously wish him the best.

00:03:13 - 00:03:32 | Speaker 5:

So, NFL Network is saying this is a season-ending injury for Hutch. While a source close to Aiden told the Detroit News last night, actually, it's not worst-case scenario. If the Lions, when the Lions go to the Super Bowl, he could maybe have a chance at playing. So, which is it?

00:03:32 - 00:03:34 | Speaker 9:

Which is what, February that would happen?

00:03:35 - 00:03:39 | Speaker 5:

First weekend in February. So, we have Dr. Ron Letterman on, who is an orthopedic surgeon.

00:03:40 - 00:03:44 | Speaker 9:

What's up, Ron? How you doing, buddy? Hey, good morning. Good morning. Appreciate it.

00:03:44 - 00:03:45 | Speaker 5:

I think you've helped out like half of us on the show.

00:03:45 - 00:03:46 | Speaker 9:

I know.

00:03:46 - 00:03:49 | Speaker 5:

Dr. Letterman, at some point or another.

00:03:50 - 00:03:53 | Speaker 6:

It's been a little while. Nice to talk with you all again.

00:03:53 - 00:04:04 | Speaker 9:

Dr. Letterman, this is one of the most gruesome things ever when you see a football player have a break like this. And what is the healing process that Aiden's going to have to go through?

00:04:05 - 00:04:14 | Speaker 6:

Well, you're right. It's gruesome. And as you can see, or not see, the networks are not showing the replay, which they normally would over and over again, right?

00:04:15 - 00:04:15 | Speaker 8:

Yeah.

00:04:15 - 00:04:35 | Speaker 6:

But here's the silver lining for all the Detroit Lions fans. I would much rather have a broken bone than torn ligaments in your knee or shoulder because the broken bone will heal with new healthy bone. And it'll be as good as new. So that's the silver lining.

00:04:35 - 00:04:47 | Speaker 9:

so seeing him in the the pain that he was in obviously that pain is is from what just took place in the trauma of what took place he goes in for surgery they say is that is that routine

00:04:47 - 00:05:29 | Speaker 6:

to have surgery for a broken uh bone like that so the tibia is a big long bone below the knee all the way down to the ankle and you Thank you.

00:05:00 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 3:

have to stabilize a long bone that's what it's called you have your femur bone which is above the knee you have the tibia below the knee and if you break that bone and in his case i understand that it was probably a clean break because everybody on the field knew right away which means there was a deformity it probably had an angle to it and that's that's the gruesome part of this right people don't want to see the angle of the leg so um you straighten the you straighten it you put that air cast on like you mentioned and then you want to go to the operating room right away and i suspect what they did is they put what's called a rod a metal rod right down the middle of that bone and it stabilizes the fracture it keeps the leg straight and lined up perfectly. And the three reasons to do that immediately is number one, the minute you fix it, you're starting the healing process. So that's great that he had it fixed yesterday. Number two, if you have a long bone that's broken and it's not stabilized, you can't move around. You can't mobilize yourself. And so you're at risk for developing a blood clot. And the third reason is mobilization let's get it fixed let's get hutch back up on his feet although not putting full weight on it get him back up and about starting with crutches and hopefully this guy is a specimen um he's young he's healthy he'll heal quickly and hopefully within three four or five weeks he'll be walking fully on the leg um and up and around really what are your thoughts

00:06:42 - 00:06:50 | Speaker 2:

for getting back on the field. Is it possible that he could be back on the field if the Lions run through a playoff run?

00:06:52 - 00:07:07 | Speaker 3:

Oh, I want to say yes, but I don't think so. I want to give all the fans some hope, a glimmer of hope. And like I said, there's a few things, you know. I got to tell you, Tom, maybe you know this, maybe not, but sorry, Mojo.

00:07:07 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 2:

No, that's all right. That's okay.

00:07:09 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 3:

You know, in my practice at Letterman Quarters Orthopedics, we do a lot of regenerative medicine. And the things that we do for our athletes, we might start with a bone stimulator. I'm sure the lions are going to put that leg under a bone stimulator, which will speed up the healing. We might do a laser treatment, which also has been shown to speed up the healing of a broken bone. The other things you can do is PRP. PRP stands for plasma-rich protein. So you draw some blood from Hutch, you spin it down in a special kit, special centrifuge, and you're left with this plasma-rich protein material that you can inject around the fracture. You can inject into an arthritic joint, and it helps regenerate, and it helps with healing. And then the last thing is a regenerative stem cell injection. Also, that would require injecting around the fracture. Now, some of this has not been approved by the FDA, but it has still proven to be very, very effective. So when you ask whether or not he can get back to it, look, 20 years ago, Tom Brady was the first person to do PRP when he had some ailments. And look at this guy. He had a 20-plus year career. So for someone like Hutch, they're going to throw the kitchen sink at him. And could he be back? I wouldn't put it past him.

00:08:33 - 00:09:04 | Speaker 2:

Ron Letterman. Dr. Ron Letterman, appreciate it. Dr. Letterman, by the way, has, like Shannon said, worked on all of us. And actually, some of those treatments that he's talked about have been the reason why, especially like my kids, have been able to get back out in the field so fast, too. So that's amazing what you guys do. Appreciate it. Well, thank you. We appreciate it. Thanks for all the info, buddy. We appreciate you. And we're getting text messages from your patients right now. So there's a lot of athletes out there that have come to Dr. Letterman. We'll talk to you later. Love it.

00:09:04 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 3:

Thank you all. Good to talk to you, and I'll make myself available with any updates.

00:09:08 - 00:09:09 | Speaker 2:

Thanks, buddy. Appreciate you. Talk to you later.

00:09:09 - 00:10:00 | Speaker 1:

So another big dirty story today that's just coming out. R. Kelly's daughter is coming forward and accusing him of sexually abusing her as a child. She shared this bit of info in the new documentary, R. Kelly's Karma, A Daughter's Journey. She said she woke up to her dad touching her while she pretended to sleep. She was 10 years old, you guys. After telling her mom what happened, she did not go to her dad's house anymore. They did file a complaint with the police, but they weren't able to prosecute because she had waited too long to say anything. R. Kelly's attorney says he vehemently denies these allegations. The DCFS determined that the allegation was unfounded many years ago. why it's coming back up. I don't really know the circumstances, but he certainly denies it.

00:10:00 - 00:10:13 | Speaker 2:

And it's our position that if there was any merit to the claims, certainly charges would have been brought. I can assure you prosecutors would have loved to put his daughter on the stand to accuse him in the many prosecutions they indicted him for.

00:10:13 - 00:10:20 | Speaker 6:

Here's more from the attorney, by the way. This is not Nicole, who's been calling our so for the past couple of weeks related to the Diddy stuff. This is another of R. Kelly's attorneys.

00:10:20 - 00:10:38 | Speaker 2:

We know that sometimes people come to believe things based on having distorted and contaminated memories, particularly children, and this can be done by their mothers. I mean, this is not junk science. This stuff exists. I don't know what her motivation is.

00:10:38 - 00:10:54 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, so this attorney is saying maybe mom brainwashed R. Kelly's daughter, her daughter, into thinking that something happened by telling her stories over the years. And it's like the Mandela effect. Then you actually believe it's something that happened. That's what this attorney is alleging.

00:10:55 - 00:10:59 | Speaker 3:

That, by the way, just that seems like people would be upset by that allegation to say that. Yeah.

00:11:00 - 00:11:16 | Speaker 6:

And lastly, Ariana Grande had hosting duties for SNL over the weekend. And she's great, by the way, busted out all of her very impressive impersonations of Miley, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears and Celine Dion doing a UFC promo.

00:11:16 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 4:

Ignite the bittersweet memories that live inside my soul and in the octagon.

00:11:24 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 1:

UFC fighting. Showing a heart.

00:11:27 - 00:11:40 | Speaker 5:

she's so good the whole episode is freaking fantastic okay i didn't have time to pull it

00:11:40 - 00:11:51 | Speaker 6:

but if you can today spare three minutes watch ariana grande and dana carvey doing the jennifer coolidge maybelline ad that it is so damn funny that when when they couldn't keep their composure

00:11:51 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 5:

and they were laughing you know it's good the smell of my best friend's house is the most dramatic journey I've ever taken in a SNL sketch in my entire life. I had no idea where it was going to end and I was crying laughing

00:12:04 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 6:
