00:01:50 - 00:01:56 | Speaker 7:

All right, it's Mojo in the morning. Kev was working at the Pistons game the night before last, I think it was.

00:01:56 - 00:01:59 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, Monday night's game.

00:01:59 - 00:02:00 | Speaker 7:

And what did you witness?

00:02:01 - 00:02:13 | Speaker 6:

So we are doing the best we've done since the 2018-19 season. We have a guaranteed top six record, which means we're immediately going to make the playoffs. No need to play in or anything like that.

00:02:13 - 00:02:23 | Speaker 7:

And we haven't done this since I think it was them playing at the Palace, right, when Andre Drummond was there. Yeah, 18-19. We have not made the playoffs in the Little Caesars Arena.

00:02:23 - 00:02:34 | Speaker 6:

No, we have. We have. We have? Yes, we have. When did we make it? We got swept by the books. I think that might have been the 2018-19 season. They were there? Yeah. Oh, I didn't know that.

00:02:34 - 00:02:41 | Speaker 7:

Okay, all right, so I'm wrong with that. Go ahead. It's all good. It's not the first time you've been wrong. It's okay. Yesterday you said I was the master of the bets.

00:02:41 - 00:03:50 | Speaker 6:

Listen, you are. You are. You are. This isn't a bet, though. So fans are excited, as they should be. The environment is crazy. People are screaming. Games are selling out. It is a great time. so there is a kid that is sitting behind me and he comes as soon as doors open now this is an hour and a half this is an hour and a half before tip-off and what happens during that time is players come out they warm up they do shoot around this kid is screaming so much that like k's shooting around turns around and looks i pointed the kid and then Kay sends the security guard over, brings the kid and his dad to the floor. Oh, how cool. Takes his hand, takes a picture, signs his jersey. Like, we got some great guys on the team. Okay, that's cool. So this kid, his mind, his day is blown. This is the greatest moment he's having of his life. This is before the game even starts. Yeah. He's talking to me. He's like, bro, oh, my God, this is my favorite day ever. I'm like, man, it's just getting started. We're going to have a great time on the whole thing. The game starts, and I'm thinking, okay, his energy is going to die down. No. His energy stays at a 10 the entire game. Every play he's screaming, he's screaming.

00:03:50 - 00:03:51 | Speaker 7:

That's a fan.

00:03:51 - 00:04:06 | Speaker 6:

He is the fan of the game. He's so into it that when we go on defense and the other team is making their play, he yells out to whoever's on defense, steal that speed. This is a child that cannot be more than 12 years old.

00:04:07 - 00:04:08 | Speaker 7:

He yells out a cuss word.

00:04:09 - 00:04:19 | Speaker 6:

His dad is sitting behind me right next to him. The kid looks over. He's like, I'm sorry. I don't think the dad even realized what happened He's like what's going on

00:04:19 - 00:04:20 | Speaker 7:

He's like yeah steal that

00:04:20 - 00:04:27 | Speaker 6:

He's like I said steal that spit He's like that's okay I don't let my children cuss

00:04:27 - 00:04:27 | Speaker 7:

No

00:04:27 - 00:04:30 | Speaker 6:

I don't either

00:04:30 - 00:04:37 | Speaker 7:

I'm surprised you don't let your kids cuss Because you talk about Way too adult stuff in front of Josiah

00:04:37 - 00:04:41 | Speaker 4:

I feel like you do have adult conversations Like Josiah knows some things that

00:04:41 - 00:04:48 | Speaker 7:

Josiah comes home and knows what uh you know the bible story the other day yeah but that's the thing you want your children

00:04:48 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 4:

better than you for sure my kids uh smith especially i mean he's seven going on eight he'll be eight here soon and he has learned all the bad words and it

00:05:00 - 00:05:10 | Speaker 1:

depends on what kind of mood i'm in and it depends on where we are where sometimes i'll just look at him sometimes it's so funny because they use it so correctly and you're like yeah yeah but then

00:05:10 - 00:05:42 | Speaker 2:

other times i'm like we do not use that language now joe is really into tyler the creator and he has a concert that's coming in july and this is the the person that josiah wants josiah has never asked to go to a concert but he wants to go see tyler and there's a popular song called sticky And there's a point in it where he says, it's getting sticky in this bitch. Oh, gee. And any time I play that, you can see Josiah rapping the whole time. And then when he says that part, he kind of, but he asked me, he was like, and we go to the show, can I say it? Are you going to let him? I was like, nah, I might let him. I might let him.

00:05:42 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 3:

I don't know. Do you know what the worst is? The worst is what I used to do with the kids where when the kids would swear, I'd laugh.

00:05:49 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 1:

Yeah.

00:05:49 - 00:06:07 | Speaker 3:

We have friends of ours that their son will swear and the mom is the one that laughs. and every time she does I'm looking, this kid loves it because then he kind of like, he'll throw down like a, he'll throw down, but he throws down the F word, he'll go, can I just say it?

00:06:07 - 00:06:11 | Speaker 1:

I was going to say, they know all the words. They know all the words.

00:06:12 - 00:06:41 | Speaker 3:

I know, but you can't laugh at them because if you laugh at them I've learned this from years of being reprimanded by Chelsea and the kids grandmas and stuff, but I've gotten, you know, you should not be saying uh laughing at them when they do it because if you laugh at them then they think that there's something to it it makes it okay you're encouraging at what age can your kids start swearing though because my youngest son who is 19 years old swears like it's like he's he's got a mouth like a truck

00:06:41 - 00:06:45 | Speaker 1:

driver shout out to all the truck drivers out there third kid you and chelsea probably like

00:06:45 - 00:06:57 | Speaker 3:

oh we don't care but but i do care because he'll swear and he'll say stuff and he says some some things sometimes and it embarrasses me in front of people because it's like i i never swore in

00:06:57 - 00:07:24 | Speaker 1:

front of my dad can i tell you something i was the same we weren't even allowed to say fart when we were at my dad's house growing up no please don't and it wasn't until i was probably in college maybe my freshman year of college i came home for something and we were at a party at one of my dad's buddy's houses and i heard him swear yeah and then i was like oh okay maybe it's a little like i can say something and i was still scared to swear around my dad at my grandma's

00:07:24 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 2:

house we couldn't even say lie wow like we couldn't say you're lying like saying that was a curse word we had to say like fibbing or telling a story i grew up in chicago so my my dad used to

00:07:35 - 00:07:55 | Speaker 3:

love watching bears games on sundays after church after mass and my dad was the only time my dad would swear he would we would be watching the game he'd be making like a ham sandwich in the kitchen and he'd see that we fumbled the ball or something like that and he would swear and i would look going oh who is this guy yeah does he not know that he's taking the lord's name in vain

00:07:55 - 00:08:00 | Speaker 2:

and that's where you get it from no i swear like when you watch sports games do you find yourself

00:08:00 - 00:08:12 | Speaker 3:

oh yeah oh that i think sports is where i swear the most watching it uh going and watching a game and seeing somebody you know you're like it's not about him you know what's up elizabeth hi

00:08:12 - 00:08:24 | Speaker 4:

Hi. So, my eight-year-old, I had somebody cut me off the other day, and, you know, I beeped on the horn a little bit, threw my hand up, and my eight-year-old said, oh, what a raggedy hoe.

00:08:24 - 00:08:28 | Speaker 1:

Oh, my gosh.

00:08:28 - 00:08:29 | Speaker 4:

All right.

00:08:29 - 00:08:30 | Speaker 1:

Learn that from someone.

00:08:32 - 00:08:48 | Speaker 4:

And we do not say that, but I also have an 18-year-old. I have 18, 16, 14, and 8. Oh, my gosh. We got home, and I'm like, okay, so who's using raggedy holes?

00:08:49 - 00:08:53 | Speaker 3:

That's great. What's going on, Brittany? Hi.

00:08:54 - 00:09:05 | Speaker 5:

Hi, how you guys doing? We're good. What's up? Hey, Brittany, how you doing? So I'm 38 years old, and I am still not allowed to curse in front of my parents.

00:09:05 - 00:09:07 | Speaker 3:

Oh, you'll get yourself punished, huh?

00:09:07 - 00:09:27 | Speaker 5:

What will they do if you did? My mom will still pop us in the mouth We have three brothers and sisters We'll still get popped in the mouth If we're out in public She'll give you the worst look We do karaoke every weekend And we have to go mom Can we say the words in this song please I love it

00:09:27 - 00:09:31 | Speaker 3:

She's raising ladies Britney she's raising ladies there

00:09:31 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 5:

She doesn't care it applies to my brother's too My brother's 40 And he still can do it

00:09:37 - 00:09:43 | Speaker 3:

Only once in our lives did Chelsea and I do this, and we did it with Joe, but we washed his mouth out with soap. Did you ever have your mouth washed out with soap? Oh, I did.

00:09:44 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 5:

Yes, I did. Actually, my brother used to prank me, and he made me say, you know how you hold your tongue and say, get the fork off the plane?

00:09:53 - 00:09:53 | Speaker 3:

Yes.

00:09:53 - 00:10:03 | Speaker 5:

And I did it, and I didn't know what I was doing, and she washed my mouth out with soap. And from then on, we do not curse in front of the parents.

00:10:03 - 00:10:08 | Speaker 4:

I love it. 38-year-old woman now, and her mom's still not letting her. What's going on, Donna? Hi.

00:10:10 - 00:10:29 | Speaker 6:

Hi, good morning. When my son was about three years old, my ex-husband worked in a factory, so, of course, he had a filthy mouth. And my husband was crossing the living room. My son was watching TV, and he told my ex-husband to move his effing ass.

00:10:30 - 00:10:32 | Speaker 4:

Oh, boy. And how old was he again? Three?

00:10:33 - 00:10:37 | Speaker 6:

He was about three, yeah. Also, learn from someone.

00:10:37 - 00:10:41 | Speaker 4:

That's great. He used it appropriately, though. That's good.

00:10:41 - 00:10:43 | Speaker 6:

He actually did, yes.

00:10:44 - 00:10:48 | Speaker 4:

That's great. What a great story. Erica, what's up? It's Mojo in the Morning.

00:10:49 - 00:11:18 | Speaker 5:

Hey, guys. Good morning. Good morning. So we recently decided on a new rule with our kids. They are almost 10, 7, and 4. And over the holidays, we watched a lot of Christmas Vacation. So we told our kids that they could swear as long as it's a quote from a movie and they do the finger quotes at the same time. Oh, my gosh, that's funny. And what did they say?

00:11:19 - 00:11:19 | Speaker 4:

No, don't say it.

00:11:20 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 5:

The famous line from that movie. The spitters hole? Yep. Yep. that's so good and my four-year-old will tell you that it is uh spitter was full

00:11:32 - 00:11:41 | Speaker 4:

michelle this is when you don't want your kids swearing when they swear at their teacher what

00:11:41 - 00:11:55 | Speaker 7:

did your son do literally anytime his teacher makes him mad she he's always like she's a stupid a-hole. And I will tell him over and over, she don't talk like that. And he's like, why? She is. She's a stupid

00:11:55 - 00:12:01 | Speaker 4:

a-hole. But says it. Has he ever said it to her? Has he ever, you know,

00:12:01 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 7:

done directly? Not to have been told yet. Thank God. I wouldn't be surprised if

00:12:05 - 00:12:09 | Speaker 4:

he did. Tell him to be careful. Alright, well thank you for the call. We appreciate it.

00:12:09 - 00:12:37 | Speaker 2:

Can superstars even exist the way they used to? 2016 was sort of that last era of monoculture where we still consumed things in community. Everybody wanted to be Beyonce at that point. I don't think we'll ever see another Rihanna.
