Mojo on the Morning Show. So tell me if you guys think that somebody has the right to do this. And I know a majority of people are going to say no to this. Had a friend over to the house just kind of hanging out and we're sitting on the couch just kind of chilling out we had the you know tv on i think that maybe i said like espn or something and we're talking and i have two dogs i've talked about them before henry and louis and my dog louis is like the nicest dog in the world to be quite honest with you i think that poor louis has to deal with the dysfunction of henry all the time so he kind of just does it i always say that henry is my oldest son joe louis is my middle son jacob louis jumps on my friend's lap which he was cool with and then he's petting and he's kind of getting you know excited that louis was showing him attention now i do have to let you know this that louis has something wrong with his spine that he was born with because we could never get a dog that doesn't have any kind of deficiency that cost me a lot of money at a vet okay yeah our dog lily was literally the reason why they put a wing on at the union lake veterinary clinic okay the entire wing is now named lily the lily wing because of we spent so much money there all right so louie is on his lap he's petting he's petting well he hit the spot that louie didn't like and when Louis doesn't like the spot that you hit he will growl at you he doesn't bite you but he does that like he does that whole little like you know or something

00:03:48 - 00:03:50 | Speaker 2:

it sounds fierce but these are little 7 pound dogs

00:03:50 - 00:03:59 | Speaker 3:

yes very little I should tell people they're toy poodles okay and don't laugh at the fact that I have a toy poodle thank you no it's not you

00:03:59 - 00:04:01 | Speaker 1:

I would never do that

00:04:01 - 00:04:12 | Speaker 3:

listen you got a dog that's even more dorky than my dog okay i hope he's not listening right now your mouth i just said i just called coralline he yeah you

00:04:12 - 00:04:18 | Speaker 4:

did i'm sorry at least she got the name he got he got what are you he yeah what is coralline

00:04:18 - 00:04:59 | Speaker 3:

what is coralline identifying as what do we know italian greyhound or iggy all right good all right so back to my story because it's gonna be a long-winded and i know you're gonna people you know are gonna hate it um so louis growls he gets up really fast my buddy gets up really fast and swats at Louie like hit him swats at him luckily missing Louie because Louie's fast and this guy's not he's just fat and I'm like hey what are you doing and he goes your dog just did that and I'm like you can't discipline my dog and I and I know it's my fault I should have said to him hey you got to be careful with his back because we do it a lot Chelsea is probably better at doing that when

00:05:00 - 00:05:08 | Speaker 2:

we have guests over hey just be careful yeah he's got a sensitive spot and when people are like that they're really good about being really gentle and louis awesome louis will sit there forever and

00:05:08 - 00:05:18 | Speaker 1:

follow you home because louis hates me but he this guy meant to swat him it wasn't just like a knee-jerk reaction to oh he was him thinking he might he might nip at him or something oh he was

00:05:18 - 00:06:15 | Speaker 2:

no he was definitely swatting him did you swap back oh i know i started yelling back i listened i got really tense for a while and actually the rest of the evening it was a little bit tense so i i said to him i go you can't discipline my dog and he goes what do you mean well he he tried to you know to swipe at me i said no he was growling at you and i explained to him what was going on and then things kind of settled down because he didn't see my reasoning to the whole thing so i wanted to ask this question because i know for a fact that we have talked on the show about people who have been out in somebody the complete stranger or somebody that wasn't you try to discipline your kids and everybody was adamant that you cannot discipline another person's children okay unless maybe the child is going to hurt themselves or something like that you can tell them no don't do that but everybody was adamant about that can you discipline another person's pet like can you do that can you do a complete stranger's pet or another person that's

00:06:15 - 00:07:18 | Speaker 1:

not yours pet i would be so mad if somebody tried to hit my i mean i i think i might hit the person that you're for honestly you're do not touch my dog do not touch my kids that's when you know mama bear comes i remember this is i god i was probably in first or second grade maybe and i was with one of my little friends from school and we were at a payless shoe store i think it was if i remember correctly and i don't know what we were doing we're probably like running up and down the aisles and trying on shoes or whatever and we were with her dad and when we were both walking out of the store he finally you know had had enough of us being kids when we were walking out of the store she walked out my friend walked out first and he smacked her on the bottom and then i walked out after her and he's and he smacked me on the bottom oh hell no and i never told my parents i remember thinking that was really weird what was he smacking you guys on the bottom for because we were running around and he had probably told us to stop or whatever we were doing i don't remember but he's not he's not your dad he's your friend's dad him spanking

00:07:18 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 2:

me and it was just so weird yeah you can't do that if you would have told your dad i know how your dad is tim he would have been oh yeah i've been crazy about that my mom would have probably

00:07:29 - 00:07:35 | Speaker 1:

been like good she deserved my dad no but you can't do that i mean i i wouldn't want that

00:07:35 - 00:07:56 | Speaker 4:

for my kids no way dan what's up it's mojo in the morning oh it's dean but dean i apologize Anyway, it's all right. I just want to say I had actually almost got into it violently with one of my friends because he corrected my dog. So that's just like my wife calls him my fur baby. So you can't. That's like hitting your kid like she said.

00:07:56 - 00:07:58 | Speaker 2:

What was he correcting your dog over?

00:07:59 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 4:

Oh, because he kept like, I guess, well, my dog is like, it's a gold retriever. So he likes to nudge you. Like if you're not petting him or if you're not paying attention to him, he'll like put his nose under your hand and like flip it. And I guess that was aggravating him. and he didn't want him touching him or whatever. For dog fur, I guess, getting on his clothes, he was being petty.

00:08:17 - 00:08:18 | Speaker 2:

Oh, my God.

00:08:19 - 00:08:19 | Speaker 4:

Yeah.

00:08:19 - 00:08:21 | Speaker 2:

I identify as a golden retriever, by the way.

00:08:22 - 00:08:27 | Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah. I got two now. So we're going to make him have puppies. That's it. That's the dog.

00:08:28 - 00:08:46 | Speaker 2:

Oh, wow. By the way, if that's what you're doing it for because of that, because you didn't want fur on your clothes, say something to Dean. Say something to the dad of the dog. i always vowed that i would never let anybody call me henry and louis dad

00:08:46 - 00:08:51 | Speaker 1:

and i just look at you now i'm now what's going on jessica

00:08:51 - 00:09:50 | Speaker 3:

hi guys it's just good to live how are you hey what's up jessica what's going on how's that baby of yours doing oh my gosh she's the best thing in the world oh she's so cute thank you no i so before lily came along so my daughter's name is lily so before she came along i mean i'm still the same way i have two dogs slinky and lola and they're the they're like your dogs they're the sweetest dogs in the world but i don't know if you guys have ever heard dogs have really good intuition with people but they they have really really good intuition well my dog slinky he's a little uh long-haired mini uh dash hound he's a little wiener dog and he barks a lot well people get really annoyed of it and he does it a lot with men i mean it took like two years for him to get used to my dad now he's my dad's best friend well if anyone tried i mean even my dad if he had yelled at him i'm like what are you doing like he's being protective i live alone you want

00:09:50 - 00:09:58 | Speaker 2:

him to not be protective yeah so you so have you had anybody that wasn't your dad like some guy just yell at your dogs for barking?

00:09:59 - 00:10:20 | Speaker 3:

I'm... I mean, my brothers, I've had guy friends. You know, I've had Lily's dad yell at them, and I'm like, uh-uh. Yeah. My dog, you know, I would rather him bark, and Lola barks too, but she's old, so, you know, it is what it is, but I'd rather them bark than not. They don't bite, you know, they'll lick you to death, if anything. Yeah.

00:10:20 - 00:10:47 | Speaker 6:

I have a question. If, so my neighbor's dog does this, barks constantly, but he does nothing. The dog will stand in the front yard and bark at everybody. I've lived there for two years now, and he still barks at me. And it's like a loud, uncomfortable, like the kids are a little nervous around it. He's never done anything other than bark. I've never done anything to the dog or tried to stop the dog, but what do I do at that point?

00:10:47 - 00:10:49 | Speaker 2:

What are you hiding? The dog obviously knows something about you.

00:10:50 - 00:10:51 | Unknown:

Nothing. Nothing.

00:10:53 - 00:11:01 | Speaker 5:

Absolutely. You bad, bad man. Yeah, clearly. I think in that case, you just saying, hey, quiet, or something like that.

00:11:01 - 00:11:03 | Speaker 2:

See, I wouldn't even do that.

00:11:03 - 00:11:05 | Speaker 5:

Don't yell at the dog, yell at the owner.

00:11:05 - 00:11:14 | Speaker 2:

Or just nicely say to the guy, make a joke of it, just so that the neighbor is aware. It makes you uncomfortable that the dog is barking at you all the time.

00:11:14 - 00:11:17 | Speaker 6:

Mike, do your kids make noises outside?

00:11:18 - 00:11:20 | Speaker 2:

Should we yell at your kids for making noises outside?

00:11:20 - 00:11:22 | Speaker 6:

My kids are yelling at the strangers. Should we yell at your children?

00:11:22 - 00:11:26 | Speaker 2:

Do your Christmas lights shine into his living room window late at night?

00:11:26 - 00:11:41 | Speaker 6:

First off, who told you about the Christmas lights? Those are coming down soon. No, if my kids were to yell at the neighbors walking by and go, Hey, what are you doing? What are you doing? Why are you walking by? Why are you walking by? What are you doing? Why are you walking by? Then, yes, tell my kids to stop.

00:11:41 - 00:11:52 | Speaker 5:

But you're saying that that's what the equivalent is of a dog's bark, is the kids constantly saying that. It's just screaming at us for no reason.

00:11:52 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 4:

Why do you think your kids are better than our dogs?

00:11:55 - 00:11:59 | Speaker 5:

Because they are. George has a very good point. George, what's your point?

00:12:00 - 00:12:51 | Speaker 1:

Well, you know, you never discipline someone else's dog, but I've had dogs that'll, you know, react like that or maybe growl at you and get a little weird. And I just talk to them, you know. I mean, I've had dogs. And, you know, and I just tell them, look, hey, I'm not going to hurt you. You've got to be in a calm voice because if you react, they'll react, right? And, you know, you're better off just to, hey, I'm not going to hurt you. Relax, you know. you know you always give them the back of your hand let them sniff it you never go fingers out you know it gives them something to bite they'll calm down if you're calm and to mike's point about having a dog bark in a neighborhood like that if you can be friended a little bit they won't bother you because they know oh yeah that's the guy that gave me the mouth bone one time or you know it has they have to yeah understand that you're not going to hurt them you're not there to you

00:12:51 - 00:12:56 | Speaker 6:

know five of them yeah exactly yeah i gotta buy your dog treats too now i gotta feed your dog

00:12:56 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 2:

i gotta buy your kids girl scout cookies

00:12:58 - 00:13:06 | Speaker 5:

alicia hi good morning guys good morning what did your dad do

00:13:06 - 00:13:48 | Speaker 4:

so our family dog we would often let her her name was coco she was the best um we'd often let her out in the front yard she was very good about you know staring staying near us so this crazy neighbor one time literally just as our the neighbor was walking down the road decided to walk up into our yard and kick our dog oh my god my dad yeah it was crazy like it was a whole excuse but my dad saw it happen so my dad ran up to this crazy neighbor and was like if i ever see you come into our yard again i will kick you to next sunday like he was so your dad i love it yeah It was very protective.

00:13:49 - 00:13:53 | Speaker 5:

I think your dad should have just kicked him. I don't even think you're foreworn on that thing.

00:13:54 - 00:13:58 | Speaker 4:

I think so, too. She was a crazy neighbor, so she probably deserved it.

00:13:58 - 00:14:02 | Speaker 5:

Yeah, you don't kick somebody's dog. Thank you for the call. I appreciate it.

00:14:02 - 00:14:32 | Speaker 8:

It's easy to laugh at the meme, but have you ever wondered about the human behind the headline?

I'm Mungesha Tikalur and I'm back with a new season of my podcast, Skyline Drive. This time I talk to scientists, biopunks, curmudgeons, blues owners, super seniors, and Goa's top cryotherapy lab to try to understand this obsession with living forever and what it means for all of us. And I get into a bit of trouble along the way.

00:16:09 - 00:16:14 | Speaker 5:

I'd say probably start bone smashing. That doesn't work. Make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know.
