All right. Mojo in the morning show. Good to have you guys listening. Shannon. the gift that was the best gift for your kids this holiday season.

Well, okay, so this is twofold. I personally got a really great gift. Did I tell you guys what this was or show you a picture of it over a break? I can't remember who I told. My cousin Eric, who we normally don't exchange gifts on the Murphy side of my family, and over dinner on Christmas Day, he handed me this tissue paper wrapped gift over the table, and I was so confused because I thought, we don't even do gifts. I unwrapped it. Do you guys know what it was? It was a bunch of ornaments still pristine in their boxes that Shani's granny had bought from me over the years, starting like when I was in preschool, elementary school, just as fundraisers. And each one had a little note from her on the bottom about when she bought it from me and what I was doing. And very Marianne Murphy, very Shani's granny. So loved that gift. It was so cool. Wait a second.

So how did he get his hands on it?

So he lived in my grandmother's house for a couple of years after she passed away. And so he inadvertently inherited a whole bunch of boxes of her stuff that he is still, this many years later, just starting to open. And so that was in a box of her Christmas stuff. Oh, my God. And so he thought that it should come to me. So that was really special and very, very cool.

Your steer was holding, ripped jeans, skin was showing, hot night, wind was blowing. Where you think you're going, baby? Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me, maybe. Yeah, I'll have to put those on my tree now.

By the way, real quick, because that's a sweet story, before you get to the next one here. Yeah. This isn't the same relative of yours that sent me a Christmas card to my house. Did you get one?

No, no, no, no, no. That's Justin, Russ. I saw Russ on Christmas Eve. Yeah.

I got a Christmas card sent to my house from Shannon's cousin, and I still don't know how he has my address and everything, but it was a very nice Christmas card. And did you know that he got me a gift? He gave me lottery scratch-off tickets.

Are you serious?

Yes. He actually bought me a two.

He doesn't know my address.

Two $5 lottery scratch-off tickets, which neither of them were winners, but it was very sweet.

You have to say neither of them were winners, or he'd show up at your house. I know.

I'm surprised he didn't scratch them before he sent them to you.

But the gift. I talked yesterday, because you asked me if my kids got anything that I already want to return. And I said our sweet babysitter got my five-year-old, Smith, a drum set, which has been really lovely. I'm treated to a concert every night. But I forgot to tell you this. Wes, my boyfriend, got Smith a Venus flytrap.

The plant. The plant. The plant that eats flies and bugs.

And meat and only can have distilled water, this dang thing. So now I am taking care of this Venus flytrap, which, have you ever seen a real one?

Yeah, I've had them over the years and then bought them for my kids.

They're kind of creepy. You come near them and their little fangs things close.

They're awesome. And it's not an animal. It's a plant? It's a plant, but it closes and swallows flies and spiders and digests them.

I literally fed it steak the other day. Little pieces of steak. Oh, my God.

Wow, that plant eats better than I do. I just put mine on the windowsill, hope it gets a few little gnats or something.

It's terrifying. Yeah, you thought that was a great idea to have in my house.

That's interesting that it was – does Smith take care of it?

He is absolutely fascinated by it, like has to check on it when he wakes up, before he goes to bed. He loves this thing. It was not anything that he asked for, but Wes had them when he was younger. And so he's like, oh, I thought that this would be a cool idea for Smith, you know, that Smith would be into it. And he is. It's just the strangest thing.

Did he ask you ahead of time if he could give this to him?

He didn't ask. He just said, this is one of the things I'm getting, Smith. And I said, absolutely not. And he said, well, I don't care what you think. Why not? Because I'm still getting it for him. Because it's weird. It's not an animal that you have to take care of. No, I know. It's just I look at it and I think of Little Shop of Horrors.

Dude, feed me.

Hey, come on. That's what I think of. Like, it is going to eat me when I'm sleeping.

Did Pam, your kid's babysitter, ask about the drum set before giving her?

Aren't people who give either loud or alive gifts supposed to ask the parents?

I mean, I guess you could, but they didn't.

I think if it's a rodent, yes. But plant just sits on the window sill. When it dies, it dies. It's not like a kid's going to cry for weeks like a pet.

It has this big sticker on it that says killer plant.

Which gift is more annoying for you? The loud gift or the gift that you have to actually take care of?

The drums usually are like we have to take breaks from the drums right now.

Why did the drum set not go to dad's house?

The drum set's about to go to dad's house. He just doesn't know it yet.

That's a big ask though, isn't it?

It's really funny because the kids. So we did Christmas. We do Christmas morning every other year. We flip where Christmas morning is. And so this year it was at Andrew's house, and the kids got a ton of slime. And sure enough, the first day they came back to my house, all of that slime was in a bag that came with them.

Who decided slime was a good idea? Like what person created slime and said, we should give this to kids because it doesn't come out of anything. I know. Well, that's why it's at my house now.

We did in Trending News yesterday, I think it was something like five out of 12 parents regret a gift that was given to their kids. I wonder how many parents can call us up right now and tell us what is the gift that you regret either you gave or somebody gave them. And did somebody give them like one of these annoying gifts and not tell you? Like in Shannon's case here where both of these gifts, I guess Wes did ask, but you said Pam did not. where they give them a gift that is now a regrettable gift.

My seven-year-old brother, I think, asked every single person for a yo-yo for Christmas. This kid has like 10 yo-yos now. That's cute. That's a cute gift, though.

So it wasn't a gift, but it was when my daughter got into the slime phase, And she kept sneaking it to school. And I'm like, you can't take this stuff to school. Like, I didn't want her to have it at all. I kept throwing it away. She kept making new. So one night, she got it all stuck in her hair. We spent hours trying to get it out of her hair. The next day, the school called me. She had snuck it back to school. And somebody at school told her to make a crown out of it. All in her hair. The school had to call me to come and get her to get the slime out of her hair.

Oh, man. Yeah. And that, by the way, is one of those gifts that it seemed like a good idea. What's up, Allie? Allie, this is another gift that sometimes you'll hear of, like, the rich uncle or rich grandparents that will buy this for your kid. What was the gift?

Well, my in-laws just got a large inheritance. So while everyone else got a nice check, we went on a scavenger hunt, and the scavenger hunt ended up with a full-blown backyard trampoline. Oh, wait, that's an amazing gift. How old is your little one? My daughter is two. Oh, God. And I'm pretty anti-trampoline, but she wouldn't know that. She didn't ask.

They probably should have put money in her college fund.

So, luckily, she's young enough to not know that, you know, mom returned her gift.

Oh, you did? Yeah. She had bought it already, and it was in her van in boxes still, and we just politely asked her to return it.
