America's social casino. WKQI Detroit. WSNX Muskegon Grand Rapids. WVKS Toledo. Three great stations. One stupid show. This is Mojo in the Morning live. Good morning. Welcome to the Mojo in the Morning Show. We're going to get to five lies to tell your mom in moments, so do not go anywhere, and we'll get to that. And then there's a couple of things I just wanted to bring up randomly. I've got a couple of stories. I did not know this. This actually kind of is, to me, scary that this is the case, but it's now become a class action lawsuit and i wanted to bring this up uh are you you know yesterday you heard my doordash story about the doordasher which by the way doordash doug did not call us up and uh i went and actually talked to the people at uh red coat because that was where we got the mac and cheese from remember i was telling the story about how yeah uh i believe the guy ate my mac and cheese because he had cheese around his his beard or in his beard well Doug did not uh you know call us up to to talk to us and I know he's got to be a listener because he acted kind of kind of interesting when he was dropping the uh the food off but um I uh did have that uh the mac and cheese in my bag because the people the yeah the people at uh Redcoat told me that they remember packing my bag for me because they could see the bag. So there was definitely, yes. But there's a story that is out right now that is interesting. And the story is that if you order DoorDash from your iPhone, you are paying more for DoorDash than those that order from an Android. This might be the only reason to get an android you know because other than that does anybody really want an android no nope but so food delivery app doordash is being sued for a billion dollars over claims it charges customers for using an iphone more than those with an android screenshots Shots filed in this class action lawsuit that iPhone users were roughly charged $1 to $2 more than Android users for the delivery of an identical order from an identical address. Why? Single father Ross Hexcon is the one who brought this thing. Ross, you're a gosh darn genius. Guy put this in the District of Maryland courts.

00:05:00 - 00:05:33 | Speaker 1:

He thought he started noticing the difference in the bill, and he and his spouse had different phone carriers or phones, and so he did this. Why are they doing it? Because they're assuming that iPhone users have maybe more money, and maybe they're the ones that are able to pay it. I don't know. What would be the reason why? Why would they do that? That's my guess. Yeah, I don't know. DoorDash fired back with allegations saying that this is baseless and simply without merit. I don't know. I don't know what the story is.

00:05:33 - 00:05:39 | Speaker 4:

How do you... They can prove it. Right. How do you say it's not... Yeah. How do you say it's without merit?

00:05:39 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 1:

Well, he's saying that... I think they're claiming that there's not enough evidence to this whole thing.

00:05:45 - 00:05:49 | Speaker 4:

You could... Their receipts. This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Yeah.

00:05:49 - 00:06:13 | Speaker 1:

I want to try to find out, because I had this TikTok that was a really good one of this woman that was proven it did i send it to you guys i think i might have sent it to you guys about the doordash thing i find these things by the way i you know sometimes this is how we all by the way know get our news nowadays we see somebody with a tiktok and they just put a tiktok together and for some reason it makes us yeah claim that these stories are real right wikipedia

00:06:13 - 00:06:19 | Speaker 3:

it's a jumping point it's great to start there and then google yes these people by the way are

00:06:19 - 00:06:31 | Speaker 1:

always very smart with their with their they do the investigation Do you ever notice that TikTokers are better than the evening news that we have the local news that we have? They're more entertaining

00:06:31 - 00:06:42 | Speaker 3:

they don't talk like robots And tonight we break down the iPhone versus the Android when it comes to DoorDash prices I love it

00:06:42 - 00:06:47 | Speaker 1:

New segment Hold on Megan, hold on, ready? Megan on the 9

00:06:47 - 00:06:54 | Speaker 3:

Breaking news, is your iPhone causing you to pay too much for your DoorDash?

00:06:57 - 00:07:02 | Speaker 1:

All right, hold on. Hold on, this is the lady. This is the one that did the thing.

00:07:03 - 00:08:05 | Speaker 2:

Now, if you and your roommate order the exact same DoorDash order from the exact same place at the exact same time, you might get charged differently. and why? This is all alleged in the amended complaint for the $1 billion DoorDash class action regarding DoorDash's predatory pricing. So first, iPhone customers are charged more than Android users. Allegedly, DoorDash knows iPhone users are in a higher income bracket. Check out these examples like Chick-fil-A by an iPhone user. Fruit cup hash brown bowl, $27.39. Now we switch to the Android user, $26.39. Bingo. Exact same time, exact same order. The difference is in the delivery fee. Or Chipotle. One chicken burrito bowl for an iPhone user is $27.52. The Android user $25.53. The difference is in the delivery fee. Kyoza and rice from Koto Sake Japanese Steakhouse, $26.89 for an iPhone user. $24.89 for someone who orders on Android. Oh, that's $200. Same time, same delivery address, same order. Also in this class action, how DashPass is a scam? Because they get you to buy DashPass by saying that it'll reduce your fee. But allegedly, they just charge you expanded range fee. They don't tack on to non-DashPass users. How dare they?

00:08:05 - 00:08:07 | Speaker 4:

I have DashPass. I missed that. She's talking too fast.

00:08:07 - 00:08:14 | Speaker 2:

The order from a DashPass account, $15.80, including a $0.99 expanded range fee. Look, same time, same place, same delivery address. Wow.

00:08:14 - 00:08:33 | Speaker 1:

All right, so all this stuff, by the way, is claiming this, and they're saying that it's going to go, the class action lawsuit's going to go before them, and they may have to settle this one, and if they settle it, you have to be aware of this, because I don't know if you've ever been involved in a class action lawsuit, but I've gotten a couple of times where I've gotten like $10 checks sent to me or something.

00:08:33 - 00:08:34 | Speaker 4:

Yeah, it's kind of the best, though.

00:08:34 - 00:08:38 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, but you almost have to, like, put it in for it. Jessie, what's going on? It's Mojo in the Morning. Hi.

00:08:39 - 00:08:40 | Speaker 5:

Hi. Hi. How are you?

00:08:40 - 00:08:41 | Speaker 1:

Good. What's up?

00:08:42 - 00:09:50 | Speaker 5:

So I work for, and I started during the pandemic for, like, Grubhub and DoorDash. I do more, well, I used to do a lot of DoorDash, and I work for Shipt and Uber Eats. I actually got terminated from Uber Eats because I was questioning the tipping because I actually new people who um i know i have like quite a few customers that i've you know made where i actually do deliveries for them off the apps and stuff and um there has been times that uh like when so like when you order you get charged more especially like if you do ship like your groceries are charged way more than what the price is in the store oh yeah and yeah you don't get like So for DoorDash, we get, like, maybe $2 to $2.50 per delivery, and then we get whatever of the tip. But I have known people, and I have, like, had proof of people, like, tipping, like, say, $15, and we would only get, like, $4.25. And that's the same with the ship and stuff. Can I ask this question?

00:09:50 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 1:

Because, obviously, everything you're saying is I've kind of known about it, and nothing was earth-shattering. but you need to tell me this to make it her shattering. Why is it when I order some certain things.

00:10:00 - 00:10:24 | Speaker 2:

from the delivery services they'll charge me they'll give me three prices of what to give as a tip but then sometimes you order when you order something that's like more expensive or from a more expensive place they don't charge you with the three dollar amounts they do 10 20 30 or whatever why do they change it from the actual dollar amounts to a percentage i think it depends

00:10:24 - 00:10:30 | Speaker 5:

on like the like the store or the restaurant or anything that you order because it's different

00:10:30 - 00:11:04 | Speaker 2:

interesting because i i've had that happen to me at places that like all of a sudden out of the blue it will change up and i'm like why is this restaurant changing the way that that i'm able to tip and i always feel like a jerk if i don't give at least 20 but then the items that i'm buying it's the same it's a more expensive item it's the same bag that the guy brought me my chipotle in you know um why am i giving the guy you know a bigger tip for the same distance driving what's going on alissa hey how are you good what's going on why do you think that iphone users are paying

00:11:04 - 00:11:26 | Speaker 5:

more than android users and doordash um uh to be honest i was actually gonna say something um i noticed uh one day um you know i was just hanging out with my boyfriend whatever and he pulls up on his phone like he's like hey look at this you can add your ebt into your door dash

00:11:26 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 2:

payment and i'm like what and i'm like what's it what's that explain what that is so when you go

00:11:32 - 00:12:05 | Speaker 5:

into your account and you you know basically like add your your payment method right um you know you can go all the way down and on his phone he has an android you can do the add ebt option and And I'm like, oh, so I go on my iPhone, and I'm like, I don't have that option. And every single time we'll order, we compare, mine is always at least $1 to $2 more than his. And I have no idea why.

00:12:05 - 00:12:07 | Speaker 3:

And you can't add the EBT on the iPhone.

00:12:07 - 00:12:12 | Speaker 2:

So if you're doing EBT on DoorDash, they charge you more? That makes no sense.

00:12:13 - 00:12:19 | Speaker 5:

No, I'm saying it doesn't even give me the option on my iPhone, but it's an option on his. And then two weeks later, they took it off.

00:12:20 - 00:12:31 | Speaker 1:

Which is crazy because I have an iPhone, but I also have Mint Mobile. So I'm not like my, it's not like I have this huge payment plan. I'm not balling. I just got an iPhone, but pay for a cheap cell phone service.

00:12:31 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 5:

I don't get it either. I'm just, yeah. That's what I'm saying.

00:12:36 - 00:12:41 | Speaker 3:

This class action lawsuit is absolutely valid and will 100% happen. Don't you think?

00:12:41 - 00:13:13 | Speaker 2:

It has to, yeah. But can I also ask this question too? Why have we become so lazy That the restaurant could be A two minute drive from our house Like we work here at the studios Across the street from us There's you know a Kroger store Why is it that we are too lazy To walk across the street And go and shop at Kroger But we'll pay an Instacarter To go in there And get us four items And it ends up costing us Another $25 Explain that to me

00:13:13 - 00:13:31 | Speaker 3:

One of my girlfriends just texted me And she is she is so against like any of the delivery apps. And she just texted me, get off your lazy ass and go get your own food. And she's right. Even though I love DoorDash, by the way. So I'm making fun of myself here. But you are you do save so much money when you don't use it.

00:13:31 - 00:13:34 | Speaker 2:

Hold on a second. We have a breaking news story. Go ahead, Megan.

00:13:35 - 00:13:50 | Speaker 4:

I also wonder if at this point, I don't want to get my point across, but it's a newscaster. Does it keep drunk drivers and high drivers off of the road at a much higher range so they can get their food delivered for their munchies?

00:13:50 - 00:13:59 | Speaker 2:

That's actually a good point. Next at 11. Megan, have you ever thought about doing television news? Oh, my God. I would love to. I would absolutely love to.

00:13:59 - 00:14:12 | Speaker 4:

All of the bad puns and the ridiculous voices. You got to randomly start doing that. Just randomly pull it out for no reason. Should I do a drive-thru? I'd like a number seven, please, large meal.

00:14:13 - 00:14:58 | Speaker 2:

Back to you. Back to you. Why is it that the newscasters, the newscasters always will do the back to you thing, which is really, really funny. If you do that in the drive-thru, now back to you. Oh, my God, that is the greatest. Now you have to do it and require yourself to do it. The back to you is the greatest thing that they'll ever do. And then the other thing that they do that is so funny, and I saw this other TikTok that i thought was great on that is when the newscasters in the studio always feel like they have to say thank you to you that that is the reporter out there on the streets like the reporter's reporting and they'll say thank you don you know they'll do like that whole thing like i like after shannon does the dirty i don't go thank you shannon i appreciate you doing the uh the dirty listen hold on this is funny

00:15:00 - 00:15:30 | Speaker 1:

We have a strongly worded email from Nick to address. He says, first, I'm a big fan of WGN News, accurate, professional, and timely. What I am not a fan of is anchors saying thank you to every reporter after every report. Yeah, I'm not a fan of you. Oh, brother. Please stop thanking reporters. It's their job. Yeah, it is their job. Just move on and start reading the next story. We as viewers could not care if anchors feel the need to be over polite to feel reporters. Well, Nick, we agree and we fix the problem. That's the latest live from Wrigley, Nancy Liu, WGN News. Nancy, f*** you, parishioners.
