Pretty wild to think that if you're a delivery driver that is bringing dinner and lunch to people, that you have one of the riskiest jobs that is out there. Because a wild statistic says that one in five food app delivery drivers are assaulted on the job. Nearly 21% of delivery drivers have reported being attacked while working on food ordering apps like Grubhub, DoorDash, Uber Eats, while 22% claim that they were seriously injured on the job, including from assaults and accidents. 61% are more likely to be injured while doing their job because they could get in potentially accidents like car accidents. But 36% are more likely to be assaulted. Like assaulted by the cuss. That's some hungry people. I wonder if people are like setting you up to try to like rob you or something. They should know that these are people working to get money off their app. They don't carry cash with them. Sarah, you're a delivery driver.

And have you experienced this?

Not like, you know, trying to get attacked or be harmed. But so on DoorDash, when you connect to the customer, like through via text or if you call them, it's not actually your number that's being connected. DoorDash, like, filters, you know, like a fake number so the customer doesn't have your real number and vice versa, you know. um so a few times there have been times where i've dropped off food and i've actually had the customers like call back the number to ask for like my real number and then one particular time this guy like was texting me for almost like an hour after i dropped off his food i was just like oh i was just like thank god this isn't my real number so they can still contact you for up to that long of a period of time though yeah there's a certain amount of time that they can still

contact you yeah there's like an open window that's kind of creepy to think huh that these guys and what was the guy doing like what was he saying to you so it was actually like really weird

he was asking me like if i like to read books and um like if we have like the same interest in like the genre and like he likes play it was really he was shooting a shot i mean if that's what you call it is he shooting a shot or is he being creepy with you i mean both i feel like and maybe just didn't know how to do it he was like kind of like you know the weird yeah can you see as a driver

what kind of deliver they delivery they want whether it's contactless or like in person

um so you don't see that until you accept it like when the order pops up you can see like where it's going to but you can't see that until you like accept it wow yeah that would be nice if you had

that because i do it where i want you to leave it at my door and i like that because it's awkward you know just having that conversation right but i would think that you as a driver that you would

like that better too right well another thing too that kind of sucks about the if you just hand it to them um there's no proof of you actually giving it to them so like a lot of customers lie and say They don't get their food. I'd rather take a picture.

I had a guy hand me the food because I was in my driveway and then say, can I take a picture? And I'm like standing there like holding it. I felt weird. Like I felt like I had to pose or something. I'm like, hey, let's do a selfie together.

No, he's just, you know, covering his own back to make sure you don't lie on him.

i had a delivery down in detroit one day and i had my windows down i was coming up and the address went to an abandoned house and then next thing i know there was a couple guys cussing me out before i even stopped my car and when i realized it was an abandoned house i just went ahead and dropped her on the outside of my door and took off before anything happened you know it's kind of freaky you know what could have happened you know yeah but that you know what

that's a setup it has to be right they're setting you up to try to rip you off a car jack or

something yeah i felt like it was um since then i already took classes for my uh carrying a concealed weapon now you know i don't want to do that but it's like what are you going to do nowadays i'm sure people thinking you're carrying cash and you don't yeah i'm honestly like i give

you props for going to do that because you do need to be able to protect yourself uh what's

happening michael hey good morning guys good morning um i was door dashing one time and i was using my sister's account and uh i knocked on the customer's door because it had um it's like knocking uh knock or whatever and the dude answered the door and make it in the road oh wow god what was he helping it was a guy it was a guy yeah it was a grown man he answered the door well because He thought it was the sister.

He was just like, you can't be the person that was supposed to be delivering my food.

That is really scary.

Don't you look out the window before you open the door? I feel like I do. You know what I mean? I would never just open a blank door.

We had that as a topic one time. It was how many people have gone to a person's house, either deliver something or work on the cable. Yeah. And you would not believe how many people will go and answer the door naked out of the blue. But because they want to, I think they have to. Right. You know what I mean? So and usually people who want to be naked are not people that you want to see naked. Correct. It's usually the exact opposite of that.
