Hey, it's Scotty B. from Elvis Duran and the Morning Show On Demand. So what was your first dog's name? The answer popped right into your head, didn't it? Because he was that special. And what was your first dog's food? Probably Pedigree. It's what we've all been feeding our special dogs for 40 years. It was good then, and it's better now. Guys, obviously we know that Valentine's Day was just a couple of days ago. And it is the month that we all worry about our hearts, both loving-wise, but also our legit hearts. Like, we got to worry about our hearts. It's actually heart month. And, you know, I went through surgery a couple years back that completely changed my life. And I want everybody to know that there was one person that made things so much better for me, aside from my wife. If she could do the operation, I would have trusted her. But on the phone with us right now is the surgeon who did the heart surgery on me. I've talked about him numerous times, but he's never come on the air until I asked him to come on the air now as we're trying to raise money for U of M's Healthy Hearts campaign that's going on right now. Dr. Patel is on the phone with us right now. Say hello, guys, to the man who had my heart. Did you have my heart in your hands, Dr. Patel? Where was my heart at that time?

00:02:36 - 00:02:44 | Speaker 1:

Good morning, Mojo, and dear colleagues. Yes, I did. I had the privilege of being able to do something like that. Isn't that great? Yes.

00:02:44 - 00:02:54 | Speaker 6:

Thank you, doctor. I appreciate it. Can I ask this, Dr. Patel? Is my heart as fat as I am? Like, is it, do you remember what my heart, like, was it memorable to you at all?

00:02:55 - 00:03:01 | Speaker 1:

It was like a rocket. The thing took off when we had to restart it, took off like a rocket. It was perfect.

00:03:01 - 00:03:33 | Speaker 6:

It's crazy. You know, it's funny. We've become friends, and I thank you so much all the time for what you've done for me, especially because of the aneurysm is something that's hereditary. Now, Dr. Patel is like, you need to immediately have your siblings get checked out, which now I have two siblings that have the same thing that I have. And then my children are getting checked out this year, too. So it's very scary. But with it being heart month and with what you guys do at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center is unbelievable, Dr. Patel.

00:03:35 - 00:04:11 | Speaker 1:

Well, thank you. I think, you know, the one thing to remember is that heart disease does two things. It is associated with some of the highest death rates in the United States, but really it does two things. It takes away people from their families and their loved ones too early. And the second thing is that if it doesn't take away people, what it does is it prevents them from living their life to their fullest. And really, you know, what we're doing this month is is raising awareness for for heart disease, which is a number one killer in the United States.

00:04:12 - 00:04:40 | Speaker 2:

It's unbelievable. I made the appointment size when Mojo's two year anniversary came up of his heart day. I said, how do I still have the I have no excuse that I still haven't made the appointment. So I finally got in there, got my stress echocardiogram and my calcium CT test and everything all scheduled up for next month because I have no excuse. But it's the one like my children should never forgive me because it's so preventable and detectable. You just need to make that appointment. Absolutely.

00:04:41 - 00:05:03 | Speaker 1:

You need to see a provider. And I think along with it comes the responsibility to do all the things that we should be doing. You hear about on radio and TV all the time, you know, getting more active, eating right, exercising, you know, connecting with friends and family. All of these things are important to kind of... stem the course of heart disease, which just naturally happens as we get older.

00:05:04 - 00:05:18 | Speaker 5:

And Dr. Patel, when I'm sitting in a waiting room there at that gorgeous hospital of yours, there's a lot of women sitting in those chairs too. And I think that a lot of times people think that it's a male disease, heart disease. It's actually not.

00:05:19 - 00:05:45 | Speaker 1:

No, I think you raise a very important point. It affects everybody. And obviously the two risk factors that you can't control, getting older is a big risk factor. Being male is a risk factor, but having family history is a risk factor. So all of these things are part and parcel of it, but it affects women just as well as men. So everybody should be aware of this lethal problem.

00:05:45 - 00:05:52 | Speaker 5:

And if you're not feeling right, make sure that you say something. Don't just sit there, because women are this way. Women wake up and they're like, oh, you know.

00:05:53 - 00:05:55 | Speaker 1:

I have so much on my plate. I don't have time.

00:05:56 - 00:07:21 | Speaker 5:

Seriously. And then you hear these stories about people having strokes and stuff. So I do want to mention this. A very nice fine gentleman by the name of Gary Anderson, who also, like me, was a patient at U of M in Michigan Medicine. He put up his own money, $25,000, that he will match your gifts that you give to the Heart Hospital, which will help them be able to provide for people that can't provide and also continue to do more research and stuff. So if you would make a donation in anybody's memory, it could be in memory or in thanks for a family member of yours that has a heart problem or heart issues. The website's a little bit long, but I'm going to give you a number for texting. Victors.us.umHealthyHearts2023. So Victors.us.umHealthyHearts2023. or you can text heart the word heart to 734-749-9126 that's 734-749-9126 text the word heart dr patel do you get spike do you understand something about dr patel what's that dr patel has a better parking spot at u of m than jim harbaugh does oh wow that's that's deserving no one's gonna argue with that dr patel dr patel honestly do you get you get treated uh do you see
