much on the morning show a couple of things that are happening uh in the world today uh it's uh february 1st already i cannot believe a month has already been gone from this year

00:02:21 - 00:02:28 | Speaker 6:

that was just a rehearsal january was the starter was it yeah and dry january's over for so many

00:02:28 - 00:03:10 | Speaker 4:

people dry january let's go celebrate everybody let's do it do what i did so i did uh dry october And I felt the greatest that I ever felt it felt it in my life. I felt like I could I was sleeping perfectly. I lost weight. And then I went to November and I made up for it. And it was like, that's the worst part is when you do these things, like when you do that, you're like, OK, great. Do I really miss it? Do I really need to do it? And then the problem for me was everybody around me during the entire month of October was drinking like crazy. uh between chelsea and our friends you know i don't know who started sober october right in

00:03:10 - 00:03:29 | Speaker 6:

the midst of football and also all the halloween stuff it's like it's not a good month dude i'm thinking of dry february because other than the super bowl there is really no reason for me to drink i have no weekends or vacations planned it's a short month that's what i was thinking i'm thinking that's a good call shortest month of the year so if i'm gonna be dry is mine will

00:03:29 - 00:05:00 | Speaker 4:

be february maybe i need to do that because i really i i will say this to you i really did enjoy not you know sleeping like crap you know waking up like like crap and i don't during the month when you weren't drinking or when yes october so so when i did october so you slept bad when you were sober when i no when i uh was not drinking at all i slept like i like a teenager i felt great and i woke up but the other thing the other thing that goes along with the edibles either i so i have not done edibles in in the longest time oh okay so i stopped doing them but because my heart doctor told me that he didn't want me to do it oh so and it's funny because i thought that it was because and i actually just found out the reason why i went back to go to my cardiologist dr sukel he's the greatest guy ever at university of michigan i um i went back to him and he's like okay so you're not doing that you're not uh doing edibles or anything like that anymore Good. And I said to him, I go, hey, can I ask you a question? I go, other people I know have heart surgery, and they've done edibles. They do it for sleeping. I go, is there a reason? Like, why are they doing it? I'm not doing it. And he goes, I don't want to give you any more reason to want to eat. Oh. Oh, my God. Oh, I thought it was over blood pressure or something. No, it was because he was like. It was a trigger for you. He was trying to, yeah, he's like, I don't want to give you the temptation. Interesting. And then I started realizing with the alcohol, alcohol does the same thing to me, too. Yeah, yeah. Where it just makes me want to, you know, drink like if I drink.

00:05:00 - 00:05:37 | Speaker 1:

all i want to do is have potato chips or or that if somebody else buys me that licorice again which by the way you were the first and that was out of the goodness of your heart was so kind of you but now everybody in my neighborhood my friend because i mentioned that i love that licorice because you know what happened everybody has been buying that licorice after they heard us talking about it and what's the name of it again it's the uh the fancy i call it fancy licorice but wally well i forget what it was it was something like and i what happens is people go and go oh i heard you talking about that on the air i want to try it and then they try it they go crazy over it and then they want to get it out of their house so they bring it over to my house well remember

00:05:37 - 00:05:48 | Speaker 2:

two years ago when you said on the air you like watermelon stirak and then every listener who owns a party store sent you a case of vodka it's like good move but man you're gonna be a drunk

00:05:48 - 00:06:27 | Speaker 1:

Yeah, so the edible thing was purely for eating purposes, you know, that Dr. Suckel told me to stop doing it. But I don't want to go back on it. I really, I didn't enjoy it as much as, you know, I do enjoy, like, I've been really into bourbons lately. And I've been kind of fun. Yeah, I love Eagle Rare. I love Angel's Envy is one of my all-time favorites. And so I really get into. Did you say Angel's Envy? Huh? Angel's Envy? Yes. Yeah, that's a good one. That's Toledo, Brian, right? Louisville. Is it Louisville? I think it's Kentucky. Oh, I thought it was somebody from Toledo because somebody sent me a bunch from Toledo. I probably used that. Oh, that was you. I was wondering who it was.

00:06:29 - 00:06:32 | Speaker 2:

Now we're back to those three gifts.

00:06:32 - 00:07:08 | Speaker 1:

This is why I need to do Sober October or Sober November and February and March and April and May and June and July. All right, so who did Dry January and today's their first day? Will you call us up and tell us how you're feeling? Where we meet you. What part should we go to? Because that's how I was after doing Sober October Spike. I was like planning. I planned my drink out. Like I planned. I actually. You're going to make fun of me on this one here. My first drink after doing this whole thing, I had a Long Island iced tea. It's like.

00:07:08 - 00:07:09 | Speaker 2:

Oh, my gosh.

00:07:09 - 00:07:10 | Speaker 1:

Mike, I was trashed.

00:07:11 - 00:07:13 | Speaker 2:

Oh, I bet. It was. He was white girl wasted.

00:07:13 - 00:07:23 | Speaker 1:

The reason I did it was we were going out to eat with our friends, Tim and Michelle McCormick, and Tim loves those things. So I made fun of them all the time for doing it, so I figured I'd have one with them.

00:07:23 - 00:07:29 | Speaker 2:

I would have loved to have seen the bartender's face when you ordered a Long Island iced tea.

00:07:29 - 00:07:40 | Speaker 1:

You should see Tim McCormick order it. He's 7'1 or 7'2. Imagine the two of us together. Because no one's drinking it for taste.

00:07:40 - 00:07:46 | Speaker 2:

And it's lunch So you're not getting You're not trying to get hammered

00:07:46 - 00:07:52 | Speaker 1:

So why drink it A Long Island iced tea has every alcohol Known to man in it

00:07:52 - 00:07:53 | Speaker 2:

And all the cheap ones

00:07:53 - 00:08:17 | Speaker 1:

And it's not a good drink To me it just tastes like a bunch of yuck It's like when you would go to the Fountain machine And you'd put everything in the fountain In your cup And you'd have that as a little kid That's pretty much what Long Island iced tea is like but doing that after a sober month is not a good thing to do well you say it's not i say it's

00:08:17 - 00:08:52 | Speaker 3:

exciting what what's going on patty well hey i just wanted to say i feel your pain i i went through a dry january but i'm feeling so much healthier getting better sleep i also gave up smoking and i managed to lose weight so i'm going to keep going on the house again wow good for you that's amazing it's bad enough to long i own ice tea really sounds good don't do it it's not worth i won't i just wanted to say good for you and you've motivated me to keep going you know what

00:08:52 - 00:09:20 | Speaker 1:

seriously try try to do it and try to like i i don't think that the drinking part is a bad thing if you're doing it for maybe a celebratory but if you're pulling out and having a drink just because you had a bad day i don't know i just i i don't it to me it was a it was a bad idea like i'd rather have a drink with a group of friends and then celebrate something then just go home and just grabbing a drink to me i felt like that's what i was doing a lot i agree and and and you hit

00:09:20 - 00:09:37 | Speaker 3:

the nail on the head that when you're drinking you're eating all that salty and sweet stuff i was the munch monster and now i want to do you know healthier things yeah it's awful thank you for the call i appreciate it all right thank you have a great day guys you too hey leah you just

00:09:37 - 00:09:59 | Speaker 4:

finished up dry january how you feeling it's february i feel amazing but i just i lost count i wasn't even like counting down the days anymore because i just feel so great every weekend i don't feel like absolute hell i live out in phoenix so it's it gets wild out here and there's a lot drinking in Scottsdale and Old Town.

00:10:00 - 00:10:04 | Speaker 2:

And it feels great, though. I think I'm going to just keep rolling with it.

00:10:04 - 00:10:05 | Speaker 6:

Keep it up. Yeah, seriously.

00:10:08 - 00:10:09 | Speaker 4:

Thanks, guys. Have a good morning.

00:10:09 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 6:

Hey, take care of yourself. Thanks for listening to us on the iHeart app.

00:10:12 - 00:10:12 | Speaker 7:

Thanks.

00:10:13 - 00:10:14 | Speaker 6:

What's going on, Joe?

00:10:15 - 00:10:33 | Speaker 7:

Hey, not too much, guys. So I just had a comment on the Long Island. Mojo said nobody drinks that for taste. I actually do drink it for taste. Every restaurant makes them different. And the best place to have Long Island at, Especially if you want them to taste good It's Applebee's They make them perfect They're strong

00:10:33 - 00:10:39 | Speaker 6:

Doesn't Applebee's just make them full of sugars And everything like that?

00:10:39 - 00:10:51 | Speaker 7:

No, it's the sweet and sour they use And they have it measured out perfectly So it's not like Someone just pouring the liquor in there And all you taste is liquor It's just perfect

00:10:51 - 00:11:00 | Speaker 3:

Remember for a while They were doing the dollar Long Island iced teas At Applebee's I don't think that promotion lasted too long Oh no

00:11:00 - 00:11:03 | Speaker 7:

They weren't making no money on that I bought them all

00:11:03 - 00:11:20 | Speaker 6:

Can I tell you the drink Joe that I got into And I don't even want to mention it Because then I'll get craving for it And I won't hold to my I'm not going to drink during the month of February Old fashions Have you ever had old fashions I love old fashions

00:11:20 - 00:11:24 | Speaker 7:

Nope I've never had one So I guess it's not my to try list

00:11:24 - 00:11:26 | Speaker 6:

You don't like old fashions

00:11:26 - 00:11:27 | Speaker 1:

No, they're so bitter.

00:11:28 - 00:11:32 | Speaker 6:

You're like an old-fashioned type of girl. Are you more of a Manhattan-y person?

00:11:32 - 00:11:54 | Speaker 1:

No, it's so funny. I'm not the biggest whiskey person, but if I'm going to have it, I'm going to do it. So I have family from Louisville. When I brought you that Angel's Envy, I brought it from the distillery. So I do the bourbon trails down there all the time. I can do it straight, but I don't really like bourbon mixed drinks. Like Moscow Mules, those are with bourbon, right? Maybe not. I don't know. I'm not a drinker.

00:11:55 - 00:11:57 | Speaker 6:

Moscow mules are actually pretty tasty, too.

00:11:57 - 00:11:58 | Speaker 1:

Those are good.

00:11:58 - 00:12:04 | Speaker 6:

I like the cup. The cups are the greatest. I know. Don't you want to just have a Coca-Cola from McDonald's in one of those cups?

00:12:05 - 00:12:09 | Speaker 3:

It just looks cool. I don't know. I wonder how the carbonation would react with those copper cups.

00:12:09 - 00:12:10 | Speaker 6:

What's up, Corey?

00:12:11 - 00:12:12 | Speaker 2:

Hi.

00:12:12 - 00:12:13 | Speaker 6:

Hey, what's up? What's going on?

00:12:15 - 00:12:32 | Speaker 2:

First of all, I'm glad to know this is the right number. I've called so many times. Put us in your phone so you have it saved. I do have it. I actually haven't memorized, but this was the first time I got through. Pretty cool. I did damp January is what I was damping.

00:12:32 - 00:12:36 | Speaker 3:

Damp January. This is what I was thinking of doing. Go ahead and tell us how you did it.

00:12:37 - 00:12:45 | Speaker 2:

So I did drink during the week, just light drinking on the weekend, with a couple glasses of wine, and it was perfect. Still feel great.

00:12:45 - 00:12:50 | Speaker 6:

So damp January is where you just have, like, a couple glasses during the week, and then that's it?

00:12:52 - 00:12:57 | Speaker 2:

Yeah, right. So light drinking, a couple glasses of wine, no drinking during the week.

00:12:57 - 00:12:58 | Speaker 6:

I never heard of that. That's interesting.

00:12:59 - 00:13:15 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, so, like, I feel there's one big event every month that I can take as my cheat day because, like, you know, March is St. Patrick's Day, April's opening day, May is whatever, the picnics for Memorial Day. There's always, like, one day, February's Super Bowl.

00:13:15 - 00:13:16 | Speaker 2:

There's always something.

00:13:16 - 00:13:40 | Speaker 3:

Yeah, but I don't do a bad job. The problem is when I sit at a bar or a restaurant, I have two, sometimes three. So I have to tell myself, I'll do damp January. I'll just have one beer at the bar or one beer with dinner. And that's only usually like twice a week. I don't drink a lot. But the problem is what you had, Mojo. When I go to the Super Bowl party or St. Patrick's Day, once I start drinking, I'm eating everything in the restaurant.

00:13:41 - 00:14:14 | Speaker 6:

Yeah, it's the word. See, sometimes people will do like a cheat day. Maybe you do like one cheat day or something like that. By the way, Super Bowl, I don't drink I think I mentioned this yesterday on the show I'm an eater on Super Bowl I don't want to get drunk Because I have to work on Monday But I get food drunk Where I eat so much food The night of Super Bowl Sunday And you start at Three in the afternoon And you eat all the way until You're trying to put stuff in your fridge At the end of the night And you're still eating it

00:14:14 - 00:14:30 | Speaker 3:

There's only three chips left Yeah. For me, I'm a social drinker. I don't think I get drunk more than maybe once or twice a year. I just don't drink to the point of getting drunk, but I drink and then I eat my face off.

00:14:30 - 00:14:32 | Speaker 6:

Yeah. I get food drunk.

00:14:32 - 00:14:32 | Speaker 3:

Yeah.

00:14:33 - 00:14:37 | Speaker 6:

All right. Well, Corey, thank you for the call. Thank you for giving the idea.

00:14:38 - 00:14:59 | Speaker 5:
