My name is Patrick Fetway, and I am getting my Associates of Science and General Education with an emphasis in business administration. To me, it was a no-brainer. When you go out here and you're looking for funding to go back to college as a 40-year-old man, I got six people in my household. The extra money just doesn't just grow out of trees. Yeah, so I was scrolling Facebook yesterday and i saw that my cousin from syria posted and announced that she was engaged so i was really happy for her and i'm looking through the photos and i'm like where's the guy if you scroll all the way to the end you see that he's on facetime at their engagement and their blessing of the rings so she lives in syria he lives in california and he couldn't be there because i'm guessing she's going to move to the states now that she's engaged to him and they're engaged but they've never met before wow wait they've never met before nope so is this an arranged marriage thing no i don't think so i saw that she might have met him through somebody but they probably fell in love

from talking for so long so they've been a long distance in just doing the kind of thing that people do here in the states where they start talking non-stop to each other but then took it

to the level of engagement then yeah like if you look at the pictures mojo you can see that there's like the priests around.

They all dressed up.

Yeah, and she had a whole party.

Okay, so I'm looking at the pictures now. First off, she's beautiful. But I love that she's got a ring on. She's holding the phone. Showing off the phone.

And he's dressed up. She is gorgeous.

She looked like a Price is Right model. Okay, wait. Everybody in the family is like dressed up like a wedding. Like it is a wedding.

Oh, yeah. That's how we do engagements.

So wait. So stop for one second because this is just kind of interesting. Did she not do the engagement face-to-face in person in California where your cousins, where everybody lives, because she didn't want to go to California until she had an engagement set?

No, I don't think she can yet. I think they're waiting for the citizenship process, and I think that's why they started the engagement so early. So they've literally never met.

By the way, you got some hot, is 90-day fiance going to Syria anytime soon for Kevin maybe? Hey, Kevin, you see this girl? I'm telling you, I need a Chaldean. Man. I don't know if she's Chaldean.

My dad proposed to my mom over the phone when he was in Tennessee and she was in Michigan. Okay. This was like 30-something years ago, but she's like, you are not proposing to me. over the phone you better come back to michigan and do it face to face absolutely was he like in the military or something no he was down visiting his family and just that's just his character he he just moves at snail speed and she's like no you come do it face to face don't be lazy

interesting that well that is kind of you know an interesting one when you're in the military for some reason, or in this case, obviously, with Lydia's cousin. Yeah, there is no excuse in that case. I was just calling to comment on what you guys were just talking about, about the engagement. I'm actually married to a woman in Africa, in Cameroon, and we got engaged before I went over there as well. And I flew over there, though, afterwards. I went over there twice last year over into Africa.

So can I ask you a question? Why would you not just wait until you went over that first time to propose in person? Why did it have to be over FaceTime?

I guess it didn't have to be, but the more I learn about it, it has to do with the immigration and stuff like that. You know, marriage visas take almost twice as long as a fiance visa, apparently, which is it doesn't make any sense. Yeah, but yeah, but that's the reasoning.

from what I heard from a lot of other people. Me, I was just ready to lock it down and let her know I was serious.

How did you meet her?

I actually met her through her aunt. I was doing Uber, and her aunt didn't know how to drive, so I taught her to drive. And she introduced me because she thought I was a nice man, and I started talking to her niece for about two years prior to going over there.

Wow. Now, wait, I don't know if I missed you saying this. Does she live here now?

No, I'm still in the process of getting my wife here.

Okay. When you guys talk, do you kiss your screen like Shannon was saying that she does sometimes?

We had a whole party, you know, here, locally, and then also she had a whole party over there for her and her friends. Where's over there? Over there being the UAE. The UE, the European Union?

so i've you know we've met each other way back when so back in like 2014 um and so we were long distance for some time every once in a while she'd come back to the state she had family over here um and so yeah it was you know it was a long time coming i guess um you know we were long distance for some time and her dad kind of knew you know like hey like either you like you do something now about it or like you know just leave it you know so yeah now now she's here

now she's here and we have a kid and what happens if they get here and you're like

i'm not into this you know what i mean oh you know that's you know that's always a possibility but you know thankfully you know we've we had our one-on-ones before and okay um you know we were long distance for some time and you know there's a lot of video calls and yeah you know So that led up to that point. And regarding kissing on the phone, dude, a little bit more than kissing, Bob.
