It's Mojo on The Morning Show. Before all the school kids go into school and all the teachers go into school, I want to just throw this topic out there, and I want to ask this question. So yesterday I was driving home, and the school by my house always has a crazy line when it comes to pickup time. So it's usually like in the afternoon, like, I don't know, close to 3 o'clock or so in the afternoon, and there's a line down the street, and if you get stuck in it, you're screwed because it's all parents trying to just get into the school. parking lot to go grab their kid well yesterday as i was pulling up towards it i saw a parent cut in front of another parent and then when they got into the parking lot they were right by each other and the one parent got out of the car and started doing the whole you know you ever see like a baseball manager like remember jim leland when he would yell at the umpires he would like

run out out there and like they're pointing in their face lots of hand action it was craziness

I was watching this thing, and I'm one of those people that tries to, like, grab my phone and get it ready. And I thought I was taping it the whole time, but I instead was doing a pano or whatever.

Oh, dang it.

And I didn't have my video on the thing. I wanted to get a video so bad of this. But I haven't been in a school pickup line in a while because Luke drives. Mike, I know that you, with Cecily, you have to go stand in the pickup line. Matter of fact, the most infamous Mike was when he dressed up as Batman at the pickup line.

I loved that, Mike. I thought that was so sweet.

Is it that insane where parents will fight with each other in the pickup line? Has anybody ever witnessed something like that?

Yes. Yeah, remember that lady that charged me with her car at Cecily's old school? Oh, yeah. I do remember that story. It gets heated because usually there's, at least at that school, there was two separate lines. So you were almost side by side the whole time. And if somebody cut in front of you after you'd been waiting there for a certain amount of time or if you didn't pull forward when you were supposed to pull forward, people get heated. They get out of their cars. They scream in the middle. I mean, it's a kid's pickup line.

I would never lay on the horn or even toot on the horn to tell somebody to move forward because that particular person might be like my son's friend's mom or dad.

Lucy takes the bus home from school, okay? And a couple of times she's begged me, please, please, please pick me up from school. And I told her, Lucy Grace, I will never do it again. Some of these parents are so crazy, and they will get in that pickup line like 40 minutes before they have to pick up their kids from school. Because I'll get there like 10 minutes early. Oh, no. I'm out in the street at that point. Out in the street.

Is the reason because their kid will be upset with them if they have to be sitting in school that long? I don't know what the reason is.

Or maybe for some of these parents, that's their quiet time in the day to go on social media. Okay. But, like, that is a lot of time out of my day to just sit there. No, you can take the bus.

My girlfriend got home Tuesday and said, I cannot wait until next year in first grade when he gets a bus. He's just in kindergarten.

I use the pickup line as a moment of zen. It's the only 40 minutes I can sit in my car in complete silence. I get there early on purpose.

Are you getting there that early?

Probably not 40 minutes anymore. They separated times. It was probably 20 minutes early. Like 20?

Did you ever fall asleep? Because I remember back when Luke was in school, I fell asleep, and he was pounding on the window. And people are like, is he alive?

I've fallen asleep and been honked at. I've opened the door, and trash has fallen out of my car. And I've had to pull forward with, like, McDonald's wrappers hanging out of the side of my car. It's a different adventure. It's a little crazy.

Go ahead. I just wanted to comment. I was at school yesterday picking up my daughter from an after school activity and I'm watching this entire line, single file line of parents all the way out to like a busy road holding up all this traffic while an entire parking lot is completely empty.

and it just drives me beyond mad like there's you know schools provide parking lots and all these things and yet here you are still like selfishly

especially when it's a nice day when it's a nice day you're like just park and walk out and greet them at the door

wait can you do that can you walk up because at some schools they won't let you walk up they want you to pull up

unless you're a walker and you live in the neighborhood

what they need to do then is the school needs to be out there with somebody I don't know the bus drivers or something like that directing traffic and getting them in there yeah that's crazy what's up steven yeah what's up good morning everyone good morning

comment and say that i've seen somebody hit somebody's car this was in early in the morning versus at the afternoon drop off i guess they was rushed here to drop off so they was rushing to get back off to work or whatever and they hit somebody's car and it's people out there the teachers and stuff be out there so they they hurry hurry up and try to catch the license plate numbers to see who it was instantly. They always send emails out, and they keep sending emails out about people doing walk-ups because they don't want people doing walk-ups.

So about eight weeks ago, my son broke his arm at school, and I had to rush to the school at 2 o'clock to pick him up to get him to the ER. And our school gets out at 3, and I already had to park two rows back because parents were already there. It's crazy. Yeah, I'm rushing in to go get my son to get him to the ER, And I look at the nurse, and I'm like, do these parents not have anything better to do? Like, my goodness.

That's craziness. That's a long day. That's when, you know what? The school would love you to volunteer. They probably would need, like, I don't know, a little teacher's aide. I know that schools need substitutes. Maybe you can be a substitute. What's up, Ashley?

Let me tell you, I will walk my daughter to school. because we live four three houses in front of the elementary but i'm telling you if you go in that parking lot you are like shannon said you are gonna wait a nice minute because it's literally if i drive to pick up my daughter and i would rather not because it will take like for me 15 20 minutes to get home i'm like you know what nope we're walking yeah yeah conditions of the weather because people get crazy and cheated like oh my it's just ridiculous like mike said It's just, it's bad. And it's like, it's just to pick up your kid.

Yeah. Is this bad that I, back when I was doing pickup, I wanted to send an Uber for my son? I was like, is there any way that I could actually send an Uber for him so that I didn't have to drive all the way over there?

I live for the pickup line drama now. I live for it. I got my phone out. I'm doing TikToks anyways. How great would it be if I saw something like crazy happen?

Well, we made the kids take the bus. But one year I went there because they had a dance thing afterwards and had to get them right to a practice.
