Nice. We did. We have a new driver in the house, which is going to be so nice, you guys. Because now Wes doesn't have to drive everywhere. And also, even yesterday, I was like, can you run to the grocery store and do my grocery pickup? But that's what's so great, too, is, and I remember this when I turned 16, you get that driver's license and you want to drive everywhere because you can. And for her birthday last week, she did get a car and she's obsessed with this car. And I said, Sam, you have to be so careful because if I remember correctly, I think I got into my first accident three weeks after I got my driver's license. a kid that i went to school with rear-ended me on the way home from school and crunched the back of the car and my mom my mom who bought me my car was so upset at least it wasn't your fault though right no for sure but at the same time i'm like i'm telling you it's a thing it's like new driver bad luck something's gonna happen and you just have to be really careful and very prepared for it but everybody remembers getting their driver's license and that first accident

yes what was yours what was your first accident i didn't have a first accident for many many years i was actually a very good driver a few high five guys are you serious i promise you yes i was so

good and you guys make fun of my driving so i was good the only accidents i've well i've had a few lately but the only accidents early in my life were i had a couple drunk driving situations but Other than that, I didn't hit anybody else. I just hit trees and poles.

If you're going to go for it, you might as well go for it. You might as well almost die. Go big or go home. I have to be honest with you. I was very good at driving. This is prior to cars basically having any kind of safety devices on them. They didn't have airbags back in the day. I was the airbag.

And that's why Al D.B., our good friend Al D.B., used to have the dealership, Al D.B., Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram or whatever it was. That's where we got Joe's first car. And he said, just so you know, you should lease your teenage kids' cars because they will guaranteed get in an accident. I thought that was crazy. I'm like, what are you talking about? I wanted to buy a car. I wanted to buy a used one. I thought that was going to be saving money. He was right. I leased a car. Joe got into an accident on 75 of all things. I told Wes and his ex-wife

they should at least not buy.

With his girlfriend in the car with him, what do you think was going on with that? They weren't paying attention.

Freeway accidents are different. Freeway accidents are even scarier. I would say than service drive or regular street. Freeway accidents, bro.

I remember the call to the house, too. And I remember that one. I remember Chelsea freaking out. I was freaking out, too. What was the call? I wasn't worried about his safety. I was worried about my insurance.

That's why I wasn't everybody.

the way home and it was a kid that i kind of sort of had a little bit of a crush on so when i looked in my rearview mirror and saw it was him my stomach sank that was oh no i have to get out of the car yeah that was your hallmark moment yeah i had a crush but i also had a boyfriend so it It wasn't going to work.

He got his truck. yeah and um his sister got into an accident the first week getting her car too and then me it was within the first month but it was in the snow so that's why i had my accident oh yeah yes by the

way if you get into an this is one for sam she has not driven a winter yet wait till she drives i know she probably had her permit but wait till she drives a winter and wait till wes sends her off on one of those snowy mornings when she's going to school. That was the most my blood pressure has ever been high.

From our house, it's almost 40 minutes in the morning. That's crazy. During school hours. So it's no quick trip.

And make sure she leaves plenty early. Like I'm telling you, can I tell you something? Chelsea did this with the boys. She would follow them sometimes to make sure that they weren't being idiots. because they don't understand how different the morning early drive you know or even the afternoon on the way home how crazy it would be you know your blood only thing hiring your blood pressure is the insurance rate i'm telling you it does go up too heather what's happening it's mojo in the morning morning how are you guys we're doing okay uh we're talking about first time driver

first time accident yep so i turned 16 on august 24th we started school i got my license the day of um my birthday the next day i went to school i was driving to pick up a friend of mine i mean the school was close or whatever and so was she but i got to the stop sign and i t but i there was like a bunch of school buses lined up so it's kind of like inching out to try to get past them and i t-boned a car and it was actually the mother of someone i went to school with

Cause it was, she was understanding my whole bumper fell off and then I had to duct tape

it back on for the rest of my, yeah, that's the other thing too, is when you're then getting in an accident and the car is still drivable and you have to drive it every day to school to see that old dent on the, on the back of the thing. Uh, thank God you're just safe. Uh, Linda wants to, oh, what's that? Turn your radio down, Linda. oh hi sorry good morning that's all right good morning uh linda uh a mom of daughters and what

happened so i when my first daughter my oldest got her driver's license i wanted to see what it was usually within six months you'll get in an accident if you're not careful so sure enough she would park right outside of her house, trailer parked next to the street. And as she pulled out, she hit a Lincoln. And the guy was serious. He had just got to sleep to go at an airport. So I had to go out there and take care of that. Then my youngest, hers took two months. And she was two blocks down the street and she rear-ended a brand new truck.

Oh, no. That's the worst. That's the worst. Yeah. Quick question, Linda. Who taught them how to drive, you or their dad?

first time accident tell everybody when you got in yours um leaving the parking lot of the secretary state no five seconds after I got my license so the whole first car thing was just a nightmare to begin with I bought a car and didn't know it was a stick shift and so I got in it and was like what is this third no I didn't I bought it with my old boss and he told me it was a totally different car and I was like I'll buy it and I got in I was like what what is this third pedal for like explain this to me well it turns out it was a stick shift so i had to learn to drive it yeah so anyway fast forward i get my license go to the secretary of state i take my picture i'm so excited my girlfriend aaron was in the car with me and we're pulling out right there at 13 in woodward and boom i t-bone a minivan aaron's head takes off my rear rear mirror never had a rear rear needless to say i crashed that car into everything i had severe stick shift and severe hill anxiety But today I can drive a stick like a pro. There you go. It was training. Good job.

When's the last time that you've ever gotten into an accident, now as a grown woman?

Actually, it's been the last car accident I got into shortly after I got my license. I wasn't driving, but I was in a really bad car accident my freshman year of high school.

Well, thank God you're safe. Knock on wood, too, by the way. Don't ever answer that question without knocking on wood. You want to make sure you don't get in one. I think it's funny, pulling out of the Secretary of State's office, Kirsten got into an accident during driver's training. I've always wondered how many people in driver's training have ever gotten in an accident. What did you hit?

Yes, a mailbox. It was so embarrassing because I had two other students in the car with me.

And quick question for you. When you hit the mailbox, did the person that was your driver's ed teacher, like, freak out?

did he yell or scream or no i said what do i do in this situation and he goes oh just try just go back to school i'm like okay well that doesn't seem like a great idea but anyway it's like so he didn't have me pull over and take over the wheel or anything he's just like yeah just drive back to school it's fine so then the guy who owned the mailbox and then ends up following us where it goes like almost 10 miles back to school and starts chewing out my driver instructor for us leaving his house. As he should have been on the ground.

I can't believe the driver's ed teacher is teaching you how to do a hit and run. That'll be all right. That's pretty amazing. Now that's the kind of driver's ed teacher you want.
