So I, and I know Megan, you are as well, am so invested in this story, especially when all of this Dirty dropped yesterday afternoon. It ends with us. Actor and director Justin Baldoni is now officially suing his co-star Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for defamation. This is the latest step in this bitter legal battle surrounding the movie, 179 pages. That's how long this one is. The documents for this lawsuit, 179 pages of receipts. And he is suing Blake and Ryan and their production company for $400 million. Now, in the latest development to this, Baldoni dragged Taylor Swift into the equation. He says Taylor was brought in to sway him to side with Blake on the ideas that she had generated for the script. And remember, he's the director of this movie. Now, Taylor's not named as an actual party in the lawsuit. She's only mentioned, but still, her name's a part of it now. Allegedly, her text messages, right, are in it? Yes, yes. And Taylor fans were commenting things on social media after the story came out. And they were commenting things like, Swifties, we ride at dawn. Like, not happy that she is a part of this at all. So Justin Baldoni claimed Taylor swooped in after Blake rewrote the movie's opening rooftop scene where the main characters first run into each other and meet each other. He said a meeting was held at Blake and Ryan's New York City penthouse, and now he says it was a planned and strategic, strategically orchestrated ambush. Yeah, that's the word they use. The lawsuit said that Baldoni understood the subtext of this little hangout at Blake and Ryan's penthouse. He needed to comply with Blake's direction for the script. And Taylor was there to say, oh, yeah, it's so good. It's really good. Like, this is what you guys should do. And the lawsuit goes on to claim what we've already been talking about for a couple of weeks now, that Blake Lively and her PR team launched a campaign to smear his name and take control of the movie. Well, last night, Blake Lively firing back. She wrote in a lengthy statement, this is an age-old story. A woman speaks up with concrete evidence of sexual harassment and retaliation, and the abuser attempts to turn the tables on the victim. This is what experts call DARVO, Deny, attack, reverse victim offender. She called Baldoni's lawsuit another chapter in the abuser playbook. Her attorney said his legal filing is an attempt to simply overwhelm the public's ability to understand that what they are doing is retaliating against sexual harassment allegations. Blake Lively's team also said Baldoni's strategy of attacking the woman comes off as desperate. More than $100 million has been donated to victims of the L.A. wildfires through various GoFundMe campaigns.
