good morning welcome to the mojo in the morning show oh gosh i i it's funny because i don't know if people will actually you make comments or don't make comments but then finally kp just came in and goes what happened to your beard i ended up shaving my beard off and I've only done this I think I think this might be only the second time in the last 10 years or so that I've been beardless but I made a huge mistake Mike I know you know the feeling of this one what'd you do I bought a razor I bought a new one I bought a new manscaper I bought the shaver one I don't even know what the heck they call it they actually have a funny name for it That was my first time using it, and I had it on its lowest setting, not realizing that the lowest, well, I mean, I mean, lowest setting. I mean, the lowest amount of inches off or hair it should have taken off my face. Well, I didn't realize that the lowest setting was basically what you're looking at right now. Oh, man. It took it all up. It wasn't a trimmer. It was a beard, basically, shaver. I've done that before, and I know the panic that goes into it the second you do it, too, because there's no coming back from it. You know what it is? It's like you cut the lawn, and when you cut the lawn and you realize you ran over a sprinkler head or something like that, and you're like, crap, and then you're trying to figure out.

You would not want me around a playground of little children. It would look very bad. All you need is a white truck and me and a big old bag of candy. It would be bad.

Well, the stubble came back pretty much in a day. Yeah. I was going to say, you got stubble this morning. So I got a little stubble going. So I don't think I can get to the length that I was at, because that length that I was at, I didn't shave since November. I did a no-shave November, and then I kind of got a little bushy, and it was bad. Can I tell you the reason why I trimmed it? Friday night, we went out to eat, and we ate at an Italian restaurant, and we did pasta and stuff. And I walked out of the restaurant, and I looked in the mirror when I got into the car, and I had spaghetti sauce all in my beer.

And we should have, I should have probably kept it. And then what I should have done is not taking a shower or anything all weekend. And then had you guys guess what I ate over the weekend just by smelling my beard.

I'm not kidding you when I say that. First off, we went and visited the campus of Michigan State University where Luke is going to be going, our son. and Saturday might have been one of the coldest days I've ever had because for 90 minutes, we were outside walking the campus. I did 10,002 steps in 90 minutes. First off, I've done 10,000 steps, but I've done it usually over the course of a day. It was 90 minutes. I was like, oh, my God, my legs were about to fall off. But, yeah, it was really, really cold. And it was, can I ask this question? What is the deal with kids not wearing coats?

And then you look at Luke, and Luke's wearing like a flannel or something. Open. Unbuttoned. It was craziness.

I posted last week when it hit zero, I posted something about still my teenagers won't wear their coat. I don't think I've ever gotten so much response from an Instagram story in the last year because it's something universal. Every parent has gone through this trying to get your teenager to put a damn coat on.

Not even teenager. Any age. Eight and five. And still, we walked into the mall on Saturday night, and both of my kids weren't wearing coats. They didn't want to. And I'm like, you don't understand. All the other moms are going to look at mom and think she's a bad mom because you two are not wearing coats.

She goes, oh, my God, we're from there. We thought for sure that you guys were from California and didn't know how cold it was going to be here. And it was funny because our friends were from California, and they brought better coats than Luke actually took with us to go on campus. This is Kelly.

So my daughter is in her first year at MSU, and same thing, she would never wear a coat. In October, she called me and asked me for a coat for an early Christmas gift because it was so cold. Walking back and forth to classes and going to the football games, she was absolutely frozen all the time.

That campus is so big. You know, it's funny. I've gone to Michigan State to a ton of football games and a ton of basketball games over the years, but I usually just go, park, and then leave. I've never been on the campus to realize, and they told us in the tour that we did, it's the largest campus in the country, largest square footage of land that's in the country because it was originally an agricultural college. I paid attention.

You wouldn't realize how difficult it is to get dinner in downtown Toledo on a Friday night. Oh, my goodness. There were 10 of us, and you would have thought we had a party of 860 with the way people were reacting to us trying to get a table. Now, it all started earlier in the day. I had called some restaurants. I had asked, hey, do you take reservations? Everybody said no. Everybody. So my dad and I made a plan. We locked eyes. We said, all right, we're leaving early. We're going out. If we're going to table for everybody, they'll meet us out. Nope, that was not the plan whatsoever. The first restaurant we went to said, we can accommodate you, but it's going to take over an hour. So I said, all right, let's leave some people here. Let's start walking around. Let's find a different place to go to. and this will kind of be our last resort, right? So we start going around and going to different places and setting things up and nothing's really working. Nobody can really accommodate us. I find another restaurant. They push all the tables together. I get a phone call from the original restaurant saying, we're going to seat you right now. I look at the server at the restaurant I'm standing in. I say, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry you just wasted all your time doing that. There was a miscommunication.

I have to go somewhere else, go back to the original restaurant. Now, remember how I told you they said it was going to take us an hour? It took us, like, half hour, right? Then we get to the table. They refuse to put the table together. We have to sit in three different groups across the restaurant, and we cannot push the table together, and I did not know this. So I just walk up to the table, and I start pushing it together. And then I get yelled at by management, and we got kicked out of this restaurant. Oh, my God. I swear to God, we had gone to six different restaurants at this point. We finally get there. I start pushing the table. This is a place I've been to easily a hundred times. They start, this is a fire hazard. No, it's not. I've done this before. This is, we don't allow this in the restaurant. That's not true. I've done this before. Just going off on me. And then they say, get out. As we're getting out, this place is packed. Everybody's staring at us. We've been yelled at by management, whatever. All of the servers who I know are talking smack about us as we're leaving. I'm so angry at this point that we walk with our tails between our legs back to the restaurant where the guy had set up the table for me who I said no. And then he had to set up the entire thing again. It was the most embarrassing night of my entire life.

And we're at a restaurant in Holland over the weekend called Boatworks. And I take him to the bathroom. And I don't know what you're supposed to do in this situation with, like, your kids. I don't know if you bring them to the stall. My daughter usually went with my wife. So my son coming with me is different because I've never really done it before. So I don't go to the urinals. I go to the stall every time. And so I bring him to the stall. And usually what he does is he'll stand there and he'll kind of watch, which is awkward. But then he'll, like, put his hand on the – he just likes to flush the toilet. Like, that's, like, one of the biggest things he loves to do. And I want to be like, oh, that's disgusting, but he's done grosser things. So whatever. Yeah, that's right. You know what I mean? So whatever.

The balloon was shot down by F-22 fighter jets. Top Gun pilots actually brought it down. And then debris scattered over a seven-mile portion of the ocean there outside of South Carolina. And it's interesting because this is the same balloon that at the end of January was spotted off of the coast of Alaska. And we could have shot it down there, but we didn't do it. And we let it kind of cross the entire country where some people are saying that this thing crossed over what looked like all of our nuclear power secrets. That it could possibly be getting those even though the Chinese are saying it was a weather balloon. Here's a report from ABC News.

The balloon first entered U.S. airspace over Alaska January 28th. So there's a lot of sketchiness that's going on. Tomorrow is the State of the Union address, which means that I won't be watching anything on television tomorrow night at that time. But an interesting poll that's out right now, ABC news washington post poll finds the highest number of americans in four decades say that they are worse off than uh they've ever been four in ten americans say that their financial situation has gotten worse uh since the president uh joe biden has taken office and with that said And the poll also shows, and this is ABC News again, that if the president were to run against the former president, that Trump would beat Biden in this next election. According to the ABC News poll, Trump has 48 percent compared to 45 percent.
