He said he slept all day yesterday, which is interesting. So he said that, and I didn't know, he didn't even seem like he was feeling under the weather. He kind of hit it, though. Although he did say to me, he goes, I feel like I let the show down yesterday. He said that he felt like his energy level was low. But maybe he was sick and he just wasn't telling us. So, all right, it's Mojo in the morning. I got to ask this question, and this is just a quick one, quick survey. Lydia, I don't have much time, but I need calls quick on this one. Here's the reason why I ask this question. All right. They say that 70% of people who make the bed as soon as they get out of it have a better day than those that don't. The people who do not make the bed have a worse day.

Do you know that's fact, by the way? That's been researched. There's a book written about it.

Yes.

Well, when I saw this, I thought to myself, I'm like, that just seems dumb to make the bed right as soon as you get out of it. I always thought that the reason that Chelsea did it was to make sure that we didn't get back in it. Like, you know what I mean? Like, it was a motivation to, like, stay up and, you know, get out and about and start our day.

The book, by the way, is called Make Your Bed, Little Things That Can Change Your Life. It's actually a really good book, but I am this way. So I don't make my bed before I come into the show because Wes is still sleeping, but he makes the bed before he goes to work. he's kind of the same as me, but if it's a weekend or we're off or something, as soon as I get up, before I even, well, I pee, and then I come back and I make the bed. Yeah, immediately. Wow.

I don't get it. I think that's kind of interesting, but Sarah, to make or not to make, what do you do?

I always make it.

And does it make your day better? It does. Really? So as soon as you get out, you make it. What if your partner in bed doesn't want want it made what if what if the partner in bed wanted to go back in bed he's usually up before i

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddy Mellencamp says, doctors discovered five more tumors in her body after they previously removed four from her brain just a few weeks ago. She writes, update from my scans. I have three more tumors in my brain, two tumors on my lungs. These are all a direct result of my melanoma. And despite that, not so great news. She told fans she is feeling positive about her outcome, adding that her doctors are hopeful that radiation and immunotherapy will be effective for her. And McDonald's, McDonald's is overhauling all 43,000 restaurants with an AI makeover. The goal is to cut wait times and make a better experience for both customers and employees. So what does that mean for you, Zach, the biggest McDonald's fan that I know? Well, upgrades will start with internet-connected kitchen equipment. That doesn't matter to us. But then an AI-enabled drive-thru. So we're going to see that pretty much everywhere. and then AI-powered tools for managers to help make sure that your order is 100% accurate and also so that restaurants can predict equipment issues before they shut down, like those damn ice cream machines. They're also looking into something called computer vision. So it's the same type of AI that they use for facial recognition, but this time it would be like an in-store camera that would look at your order and make sure that it's accurate before it goes into your hands.

We're not going to hire humans and we're not going to pay people. And what it also means is that I'm not going to have somebody telling me to pull up to the, you know, front of the drive-thru there so I can get my hot French fries.

I already went through. I can't remember if it was Taco Bell recently that did AI. Like my whole menu or like drive-thru was AI. It takes so much longer.

It even repeated it back to me, everything. It takes so much longer. The fact that they're lying and being like, this is for customer convenience is like, no, it's for cost-cutting registers for your stock.

And I hate going into a McDonald's and having the screen there where I can't talk to the person.

That takes forever.

Because I literally am going through the damn thing trying to figure out how I'm substituting and doing anything instead of just talking to somebody. It's the dumbest thing ever. I can't stand it.

This is an interesting thing. I'm going to throw this out there as a quick topic, and I want you to call us up and tell us if, you know, you have something to relate to it. But I would like to know, what is the stupidest thing that you got in trouble for at work? And you don't have to say where you work if you still work there. But if you don't work there anymore, then I want to hear about it. Okay? My son, Jacob, once got in trouble for, are you ready for this one? Showing up to work too early for work. So Jake and I were having a conversation and we were talking about, you know, work. And my son, Jake, for those that don't know, is a psychologist. Okay? So he'll be a doctor in psychology probably in a matter of a couple of months here right now. But he's already been working and he works at a hospital. And he actually loves it. You know, he has patients that he deals with. He gives people advice. He's excellent. He's very good at what he does. But he's very diligent and he likes to get to work on time because he has anxiety about being late.

That's me. Is that you? Yeah, I have to be early. Is he paid hourly?

I don't know how they're paid. I know that he does well, but I don't know that it's enough. No, I think he just shows up. No, I don't think it is hourly. I don't know how that works. I think it's like a weekly salary or whatever it is.

Okay.

But he was showing up too early to the point that the boss actually said to him that he didn't need to come so early. And I said, how early are you showing up? And he says, sometimes I'd be there like an hour before I was working. And I said, well, what are you doing for an hour? And he goes, well, I just try to get my day going and stuff like that. Yeah. But I think it's one of those situations where they don't have enough room for everybody to be. And I think he's fine being kind of off.

and not getting in the way, but I think that the problem was he was coming too early and he was getting rid of his anxiety by coming early. They were actually getting anxiety. Isn't that a crazy reason? Yes. I mean, I've heard people get in trouble because they're late.

I've not heard early. Half of this show. Right. Every week.

But that's, is that not a weird reason to get in trouble? Chris, hi. What's the craziest reason why you got in trouble at work?

Good morning, guys. Good morning. So, as a therapist, I see clients, and a co-worker apparently said hi to me as I was ushering a client into my office, and I shut the door, obviously, and he ran to my supervisor and said I was being mean to him.

I didn't say hi back. Like, there was a write-up, which I thought was our union, and I just was like, come on, people.

I'm not going to say.

Because that's a sensitive person. I don't know if I want a sensitive therapist. I want my therapist to have a backbone.

Listen, I agree. The person no longer works with us, so I don't know what happened with that, I suspect. a couple of things but yeah i just i was like i was with a client i was supposed to ignore my client and go hey how you doing mojo it's good to see you listen i'm busy no not at all i'm sorry

I cannot believe that people can be like this. That's a person that doesn't know how to manage. Danette, what's up, Danette? Hi, what did you get in trouble for at work?

Hi, I got in trouble. I worked for an automotive, and we used to test speed sensors, and they put boring X marks on there with engraved it when they were good. So it was around Easter time, and I put a little Easter bunny instead of doing an engravement mark, and I got in trouble for it. I got time off and everything for it.

Are you kidding me?

I'm not. I'm not. They made an example of me, they said. And, you know, it was just one of those things. It was so boring just putting a regular X mark. It was real tiny, tiny little bunny.

But, yeah, quite a few of them have gotten time off for it.

It's anywhere from cutting ourselves, using it to, I work in automotive, so we'll push in our thumbs up to push in parts.

That's amazing that they would, I can see if you're stealing them and bringing them home, but if you're using them. How many billions of dollars of profit do they have the year before? Monica, I'm going to hire an attorney for yours. What did you get in trouble for?

I got in trouble for pumping in our nursing break room. What? Despite being covered and facing a wall, I was charting at a computer and the supervisor came up to me and said, what are you doing? And I said, I'm pumping and charting. And she goes, you can't do that. This is a nursing break room. And I was like, but I'm covered. She goes, that's a bodily fluid. And she made me leave. And I was so mad, I cried, because being a mom is hard enough to have to pump and do all those things. So I was really mad. But they changed the policy finally. You could really pump, like, wherever you wanted. Okay. Also, first time long. Yay! Hold on a second.

All right, Mojo in the Morning show. This is interesting because I think that a lot of people have experienced this before. When you have a favorite food ever, but then all of a sudden something just happens. What was the favorite food, Megan?

Oh, my God. So I love eating chicken, rice, and vegetables. Shocking. It's the most mediocre, bland thing in the entire world. But I truly credit it as to a major reason as to why I've lost all of this weight. And now I'm terrified I'm going to gain it all back. I'm going to get all of the weight back because last night I made this meal, right? It's my standard go-to.

It takes me 20 minutes. It's super healthy. It's super easy, whatever. And I took a bite of it. And the first bite I went, oh no. Wait, is this the meal that you've been eating for like the past year? For literally every night. Every night, this is what I make. And I couldn't believe the fact that I wasn't sick of it for forever. I was like, oh my God, I'm going to love this for the rest of my life. Yada, yada, yada. Made it last night, took the first bite. And I went, oh my God, I hate this overnight. Like one night and I just cannot stand this food anymore. I cannot eat it. I think it's the most disgusting thing I've ever had in my life.

Is it because you've eaten so much of it?

I would assume so.

Because that has happened to me before. And do you eat this before you were focusing on losing weight? No. Because that's the, you know what is weird? I went to a doctor, like a psychologist doctor, talking to him about, you know, heavy and, you know, heavy over the years and stuff like that. Like I had actually, my therapist had recommended that I go talk to this person. And when I went to go talk to him, he asked me, he goes, so are you eating the same stuff every single day? And he goes, yeah. And he goes, you got to be really careful of that. I said, why is that? And he goes, because I know you're doing it because you're seeing the results. He says, the problem is that's not how life goes. Like, he's like, he's like, you got to be able to, yeah, it's not, so, but it's so, it is so funny when you, that happens.

But it's been like two years and just one bite. I have a huge Tupperware container of my dinner last night because I took one bite and I was like, nope, never again. and now I don't know what to do because it's like my go-to 20-minute healthy meal and I know myself I know why I gained all the weight I was tired I needed something fast you stop at fast food like that just became the norm and now I'm like what am I gonna do what am I gonna do that's

fast and easy and healthy and also the other thing too is I feel like um like there is something to a little bit of the emotional eating for me like it's the day of driving home and for some reason I have never in my life ever understood why this is but now Jersey Mike's to me has become like my Jersey Mike's has become like if I'm gonna cheat I'm gonna cheat with Jersey Mike's do not say anything bad about you know I love but it's not always healthy for you to have a you know Jersey Mike's up because you're always gonna get the chips and all the rest of stuff but I used to have that for mcdonald's like it make my thing with mcdonald's was i'll go to mcdonald's and i just don't eat the bun and i then i have but i have a big old large french fry and a huge you know coke but um but it is weird it it there's something psychological with food for me it's

and it's the convenience of it all like it's two dishes two dishes it was so easy because i know what people are saying you can make those things yes i can but it's time consuming and it's more effort and quite honestly it's very hard to cook and live alone because it's so much work for one person it's so much easier in your head to just justify well stop and get it and it's going to save me all this time and it's not going to be work because it's not even just the cooking it's the cleaning afterwards and the dishwasher and the putting everything away like it's annoying

yeah do you make so when you do your chicken and rice do you do it at the beginning of the week and just cook a bunch of it and put it in a little pan because oh so you cook every night Because I was going to say, maybe you should try to, like, cook a different type of chicken every day. No, because here's where I'm crazy.

Here's where I'm crazy. I cannot eat the same thing or leftovers. I cannot do leftovers. It has to be made fresh. And don't you switch up the sauce every time? Every night. It's the same chicken, the same vegetables, the same rice. The only thing I change is the sauce.

It's so weird. I always said that this would be the greatest thing ever because, like, there's certain things that I really, really like. I have thought to myself, why can I not get food poisoning with the worst food that makes me, like, happy? Because if I got food poisoning, anytime I've ever gotten food poisoning, I've never had anything. I've never eaten anything ever, like, that same thing. I just had a comment about the chicken and veggies and rice, because when I met my now husband, this was like all he made. It was like chicken, broccoli, and rice all the time. Um, but I don't think he even owned anything other than salt and pepper. Um, and I was like, I can't do this.

Yeah.

So I just wanted to throw it out there. I heard just now that you do different sauces, but, um, we still do a lot of nights where it's just chicken and veggies and rice or sometimes potatoes. Um, but we like make sure that we switch up the seasoning. And so I have a lot of seasoning mixes that I use. And like, I have my go-to, which is kind of a Cajun, but it keeps it spicy.

Um, and then like we'll do lemon pepper some night or we'll do like an herb mix on other nights and, um, and it helps to change up the chicken. And then I have to ask, do you roast your veggies or how do you cook them?

Uh, my God, we've become that show.

I know. Some of them I do in the air fryer. Some of them I just do like in a skillet.

Okay. Oh, I'm super curious about an air fryer. I don't own one. Um, but I roast my veggies in the oven.

It is, but now they're saying they're not healthy.

I don't care.

I literally don't care. You can get chemicals or something.

Great. I love it. You know what? Everything's killing us. You can get cancer from carrots. Everything's bad at this point.

But if you roast your veggies in the oven at like 410 degrees for like 20 minutes, they'll get a really nice char and you put like some seasoning, salt, pepper, garlic, paprika, a little cation if you like it spicy, and they're phenomenal every time.

By the way, there is a spice. If you're looking for spices, you're talking about it. And I cannot believe, again, I'm doing this. What is Henry? I feel like this is the Today Show right now, yeah. I, during COVID, I was eating the same Oikos triple zero yogurt every day for breakfast for two years. And now, because it was so good, but now I literally can't even look at it. That is the worst part, then, when you communicate to your family, like, I don't eat this anymore. And that's the only thing they associate you with. So every time you go over to their place, they're like, oh, I have this for you. And you're just like, have you guys got it? They didn't need it every day for two years.

In 2023, Bankman Freed was convicted in connection with his cryptocurrency exchange firm, stealing $8 billion of customer money. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Now in a surprising twist, he says he shares a dormitory style bunk with music mogul and accused sex trafficker Sean D. Combs, who just yesterday was charged with a new indictment related to his alleged scheme to force his employees into sex.

And yesterday, he got a text message from one of his bosses, and his boss was wondering what had happened with a specific order and return of Wes's desk for his new office. So he went back to his Amazon because he had ordered the desk from Amazon and was looking at the order. And he realized in the process of doing that, that he has been using the company credit card for all of the purchases, all of his Amazon purchases lately, which wouldn't normally be a big deal except for he sent me a screenshot of his most recent purchases just for men control gray reducing shampoo uh just for men control gray reducing two-in-one shampoo and conditioner he bought a pair of new balances he used it at whole foods because you know how whole Whole Foods and Amazon has that, you know, so he bought some ground turkey and some chunked pineapple from Whole Foods and then a marriage counseling book that he and I are like doing that's called Eight Dates, by the way, fabulous book if you're married or in a relationship. Wait, do they see all this stuff? So they see, like he had, because he had to send like proof of what was happening and then he was like, oh crap, I, I've accidentally been ordering on the company card every single amazon purchase so he has to now refund them for the amount of stuff but how embarrassing that they can see that he was ordering just for men on the company credit card also i busted him i'm like why are you using just for men i love your gray hair i gotta tell you he

looks good that that's a that's an ad for just for men i can i can i say something though she did the same exact thing i did these guys are both criminals i did shannon did so this is an interesting one lydia i'll pull you on with this one so when we do breaking and entering christmas wish time breaking entering christmas wish we buy the wish presents for all of the families and we have a 501c3 which is a verified and reputable 501c3 that we do and everything all the money is accounted for because much of the money is donations and we started getting like things sent to us which were weird it was like all of a sudden like items were coming delivered and they were like we didn't order this or what's what is this all about and randomly the stuff that would get delivered I would bring the Lydia and Lydia like I don't know what is what this is and

it would have my name on it so Shannon was using my breaking and entering card with my name on it And

all the stuff that was being shipped to mojo's house was from target and i was for lucy i did

but do you realize how that happened when i was shopping for that family i had to put that credit card information into my target account right and normally i use my target red card yeah so

we were on our we were on a little break and all of a sudden i'm getting all these notifications that's like target fifty dollars target seventy five dollars i'm like oh i think our bank account was hacked i'm like shannon uh i'm still getting these notifications you're like oh i think that That I'm using the wrong card. Sure was.

You know what I think, though? I think that they do this thing, Lydia. I think that Wes and Shannon-

motive behind it but i've seen it come through a few times and it's absolutely been questionable and one person actually ended up getting audited so i mean if you're going to try to use that business card at an office we have to show proof of that so yeah i would i would think sometimes

So I want to start off with this. A story for anybody who was a big Baywatch fan. Pamela Bach, the ex-wife to David Hasselhoff, has died. She's only 62 years old. And just a really tragic story here. The L.A. County Medical Examiner's Office said she died by suicide. And the situation was family members had not heard from her for quite some time, went to her L.A. home on Wednesday evening and found her dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. And the even more tragic part of this story is that her daughter, she has two daughters with David Hasselhoff and her daughter Haley was there and was found screaming and crying outside of her home. I mean, just a sad story. So she and Hasselhoff met on the set of Knight Rider. I want to say they were on Baywatch together as well. I think she was like a cafe owner or something on Baywatch.

And I think that David Hasselhoff and her had like a long relationship with each other.

A very contentious divorce.

And a real crazy one, because I think that she called out him for a bunch of things, including cheating and stuff like that.

Yeah, yeah, just, God, you hate to hear those stories, but it's really weird.

I see that thing come on all the time. Anytime I log on to my, you know, TV, and I'm, like, on, I don't know, either YouTube TV or whatever, it always ends up coming up that Baywatch is on one of those stations that comes up on the thing.

He was booked it out of a room to the pool and was able to save this boy's life.

Lieutenant John. You don't know how to pronounce his name either. That's why I asked that question. Lieutenant, how do we pronounce your last name? I know that we've hung out face to face. You guys brought me a nice honor, which was great. But I don't want to screw up your last name.

No problem. It's Lieutenant Gajewski with the Warren Police Department.

Lieutenant Gajewski. Who is the police officer, again, that was saving this 12-year-old's life?

Yeah, that is Officer Jacob Brooklear. He's been with the department a little over a year.

Oh, my gosh. That's unreal.

He's a newbie.

And first and foremost, how is the 12-year-old doing? Do we have an update on how the 12-year-old is this morning?

We do, and it's the best news of all of this. He's out of the hospital. He's already back home with family. That's great. Just incredible.

So what was his circumstance? He just started drowning in the pool, and they pulled him out, and they needed somebody to do some respiration on him?

Yeah, so it turns out that, obviously, the dispatch received a call that the 12-year-old boy had went under the water for some sort of reason, and the bystanders had pulled him out. And as you can see from the body camera video, which is suspenseful, to say the least, Officer Berklier sprints down the hallway and immediately goes into rescue mode. And anybody who's done CPR will tell you doing two minutes of chest compressions is physically exhausting, mentally exhausting. But one thing about Officer Berklier is you can see it. He never gave up.

And I mean, truly talk about being in the right place at the right time, because had he not been there, you don't know what the outcome would have been.

Oh, no. And I think the other point that is so important in this is this 12-year-old is alive today because all three components of public safety did their job. If we don't have excellent dispatching, if we don't have Officer Brookleyer, if we don't have the fire department, if we don't have other officers blocking the intersections so this kid gets to the hospital, we probably are reporting a tragedy.

Wow. That's unbelievable.

Everybody united on this call and a life was saved. I mean, it's just outstanding work. Everybody in the department was so happy. It's just, it's what public safety is all about.

That's great. Well, you guys are all great, Warren. We love you so much, and we appreciate all that you do. And this is the stuff that gets a little unknown. I mean, you know, there for something else, and then ends up coming to the rescue of this 12-year-old boy, Leo, is what I'm understanding, because they were saying his name in that clip that we were playing. So I've been trying to landman it. But the problem with me and watching any kind of show and starting a new series is it takes dedication and desire. And I feel like my problem is if I know I don't have like a full day and a half to do it, because the first episode and a half or two episodes usually to me suck of shows. And then by the third episode, I am hooked, lined and sinkered. You know, I'm like all ready to go. And my problem with doing this is that I get to a point where I get such ADD boredom going and I pick up my phone and Chels and I will be watching it together and she'll go, did you just see what just happened? You can't binge watch comedies.

Like, The Office is not a binge watchable thing.

You just watch it. You don't binge watch it. You just watch them and you let them roll.

Our good friend, Michigan State Superstar Hall of Fame coach, Tom Izzo, is joining Mojo in the morning. Coach Izzo. How are you? I'm good. By the way, how do you have a voice today after all the yelling at those referees last night?

No, no, no. I was, I was, I'm good. I'm good.

I don't know how you contain yourself because there were calls I was like, are you kidding me sometimes? I don't know how you do it, Coach. But, you know, I think you also get respect because you probably get to say things that other people probably can't say.

Well, I don't know about that, but there were some strange calls. I will say that. And the four of them happened in a row, and I wasn't very happy. But other than that, tough game to fish you to understand that. And, you know, we weren't playing as good either. So, you know, he's always blamed the goal with everybody. Like everything in life, it's never one person's fault. I didn't think any of us did a good enough job. And I thought a couple officials didn't do a good enough job. So that's the way it goes.

There's something about this team, Coach. And I, I sense it just from watching you, you with them. Like I have seen, you know, obviously your championship team in 2000, I've seen, you know, your relationship with those, uh, guys on and off the court. I'm getting the sense of this team feeling similar and I'm not trying to put pressure on you that you're going to end up winning the championship. I I'm praying. I literally am saying the rosary every night doing it, but, but I get the sense when I watch you coaching this team that you're having fun and you're enjoying these guys you know it's

very good evaluation and maybe i don't know maybe jace richardson brings a little bit of his dad back into the fold back in the good old days and the teen in them but uh you know the truth of matter is it's uh it's been an interesting

team not quite as talented as some we've had top to bottom but but probably better than some we've had top to bottom as far as depth and everything else and we've done a lot of things together we've gone places together uh the guys have been unbelievable you know they really have as far as we're not always perfect we don't always shoot it great but we've been pretty consistent and that was the only thing disappointing uh i thought for the first time in a long time our defense kind of let us down in that first half and we weren't as consistent but uh you know we got we got our feet under us second half we kind of got back to what our identity is and our defense got our running game going our running game got us a little got Cohen up in the air and when Cohen gets up in the air it's unreal shots and making dunks um it kind of energizes all of us so uh you You know, Jace was phenomenal again, but Jaden came through in the second half. He struggled in the first half, and, of course, Cohen was really good. And we just got some ball out of a lot of people. It was a tough team to guard. They played five guards a couple times, and so it was different for us, but found a way and got out of Dodge.

You know, it's wild. This radio show is, you know, a show that has a lot of talented people on it. One of them is our Kevin, Kev, who does, you know, he's out sick. Why did you say it like that, Coach? What's the story?

I love Kev. He's out sick today. You know why he's out sick today? I'm happy that he did this. He's got the big game on Sunday, and he does not want to be under the weather. And where he normally would never do that because he puts it all into everything, whether it's working for Mojo in the morning for the Detroit Pistons or for you, uh, in Michigan state basketball, but he knows how important that game is playing against your state rivals. So he's staying home right now. And, um,

if you're listening, thank you. And, uh, get some rest. Cause we need your voice, but, uh, you know, it's been, um, you know, we've, uh, as I said, we don't over overwhelm anybody, uh, sometimes, But we've been pretty consistent, and hopefully we'll stay consistent. You know, the last time we played Michigan, you know, the score was not indicative of the game. I mean, it was a one-two-point game the whole way, just about. And so we know what to expect, and we're going to see if we're mature enough to handle, you know, the fact that probably today everybody's glad-handing the players, and yet now they've got to get back to business this afternoon. and I'm anxious to see how we handle that.

You know, it's funny, my son is a sophomore and he's on spring break in Punta Cana and I checked in with him last night. They were all together. His entire fraternity brothers were all together. They were watching the game, probably on somebody's phone knowing them and going crazy over it. But I think about the kids that here you are coaching these guys, you know, the Trey Hollomans of the world or the, you know, the Coens and, you know, these guys don't get to go do a spring break. Like, they're not going out partying and doing all this craziness. They've got to work for you, man. They've got to make sure that they're rearing and ready to go because you've got the Big Ten tournament and then you've got the March Madness right afterwards.

Yeah, it's the one thing that's hard about basketball, you know, where people get off for Thanksgiving, they get off for Christmas, they get off for spring break. We don't get off for any of them. And like last night, I have 12 managers here. we took all 12 of them on the trip with us because those guys all gave up their spring break just to be with the team and everything. And it was pretty exciting event to see how our players interact with our managers who do so much for them. And it was, when I say it's a complete team buy-in family buy-in, I'm not sure I ever had one where managers and players, you know, assisting coaches and trainers and strength coaches and academic people. It's really been a family affair, and hopefully that can continue.

Coach, you mean so much to not just Michigan State, but you really mean so much to the state. I mean, I hear Wolverine fans that speak your praises, and I think of all the years of you just doing this and building this unbelievable program for the Spartans, and I have no idea how long you're going to do it. I hope you do it until you take your last breath because you'll still be the best coach in college basketball. But do you think about life ever after basketball? Do you think you could run for governor? And you understand this is bipartisan in a very partisan way.

to right now uh no i i leave that for the politicians that's one thing i'm not very good at but you know guys i i i should think about it more than i do and the reason i say that is everybody says no matter what form of life you're in you should always have an exit plan and what am I going to do next and you know I just decided this year after all the stuff that's happened here last couple years I'm just going to put everything into my team my players former players and and the Spartan nation and that's kind of what I've been doing and it's I've enjoyed it I think the players have enjoyed it but you know I mean day's going to come as LeBron I just heard him say he's on the back nine well i'm on the back nine too but um still some holes left and uh i

like it yeah so i'm gonna i'm gonna keep trying to shoot for that hole in one you know i guess

that's that's still what i gotta accomplish here and uh i don't know you got you you got one

already i think i think you got a good chance of getting a second one here coming up here

Well, I don't know about that. We've got a lot of work to do, but because, you know, our margin for error is very slim, you know. I mean, that's the one thing that makes it more difficult. You know, you're constantly pushing people, but we can't just exist. Like some teams I've had could, some of it. So every day is a grind, but it makes it all the more rewarding, to be honest with you. I think that's the way it is in all forms of life, you know, whatever your business is if you're if you got to earn it uh to get it um because you don't just don't tell somebody i think that's kind of rewarding hey coach in all the years that you've

had the is zone has there ever been a student that stands or students that stand out in your mind that are in the is zone because i i've sat right behind the bench and i've noticed that you get those guys going is there anybody though that you've looked at and said that son of a bitch needs to come to every single one of these games because or maybe he does and he does something

that just gets the team going yeah you know i do look up there once in a while and i laugh because some of the outfits they wear and some of the things they do every once in a while some of the things they say and you know like this week i'll send out an email of uh you know i want to act classy here and i you know it's been some rough things on the road some and i want to act as good as we can but yet as crazy as we can and i i just appreciate him to be honest with you because uh i've said it a million times um there's no way we win as many home games without our fans and the students are great and the fans are great and you know what i think happens that's pretty neat here is they take some ownership in it and they should take ownership our managers should you don't win games just because the players are because of a coach you win games because of all the people that touch your program and i'm pretty lucky this is a little known factor

maybe it's a lot of known fact because i've heard it from multiple athletes at the university and they're all female athletes they will say that coaches will randomly pop in on a game or a match or a practice a lot of the the women's sports that he does and show them the same respect that they will show the basketball program or the football program by going and i actually had a one of the star swimmers from the past that came to me and said, if you ever have Coach Izzo on the show, tell him it means so much when he will show up at either a gymnastics event or at a swimming event.

Oh, I'm sure. That's so cool.

And I have to tell you, you are obviously, you're the president of that university no matter what the president's name is. But when you do that and those kids see you, I mean, I've been on campus, Coach, and watched you just high-fiving kids, just walking on a sidewalk.

Well, that's what you don't understand. For me, I get more out of it than they do. I mean, there's something about having 20-year-olds around, you know. It keeps you young. It keeps you energetic. It keeps you enthused. And I watch some of those programs, me coming from a Division II program where nobody had anything. And let's face it, there's some programs that just don't get as much as we get. I just want them to know that I appreciate the grind because their grind is worse than our grind because they don't get as much. And I am very cognizant of that. I'm very proud of our women's teams having a hell of a year. They just got upset, but they're having a hell of a year. They'll be in the NCAA tournament. Our gymnastics is phenomenal. Hockey. Soccer, hockey. I mean, Adam was at the game last night. He flew out with some guys.

But, you know, we have a unique situation here, guys, you know, and I hope I'm part of it because coming from Division II where nobody had anything, we get along here. You know, there's no jealousy. Our football coach isn't mad at the basketball, our hockey coach, our women's coaches. That's why, you know, for me, 600,000 living alums is who I coach for every day, and that's the way it's going to be until I'm done.

What's going on?

So SpaceX lost contact with its unmanned Starship rocket just minutes after launching yesterday. Did you guys see this? Is this one that's picking up the stuck astronauts? Oh, okay. No, but this is, well, it's Elon Musk. right yeah SpaceX so the the spaceship starship launched successfully at 6 30 p.m. in Texas but right away it started to spin out of control it was a test flight thank goodness several engines flamed out but here's the deal it was like a ripple effect airports in Orlando Palm Beach Miami Fort Lauderdale were put underground stops because of concern over space launch debris

SpaceX had ended its video feed of the launch without saying where the spacecraft was or where its debris may have hit, which was very interesting to me. Before that video feed was cut off, it showed the spacecraft just kind of tumbling and communications ended around the same point. People in Florida and some islands in the Caribbean and Atlantic reported seeing a huge debris cloud. So not good.

That, by the way, is an interesting question about Megan brought up about the is it the one picking these people up? The spaceship or those astronauts have been up in space for, was it a year or almost a year?

It was supposed to be eight days.

And they ended up, you know, getting stuck up there and they need to have something to take them back. So SpaceX is going to bring them back. There was a story that came out this week that Musk offered Biden the same opportunity to go pick them up. And he didn't want to do it, turned it down, which is interesting because if I'm those people, I don't care. Or at that point, if I'm a Democrat and I don't like Elon Musk, I want to still come home. I don't care who's picking me up as far as that is concerned. You can drive me just as long as you get me home.

How many of these rockets have they lost? I don't know. It feels like these keep exploding and failing.

This is the second. The second one that exploded, but they keep failing, right?

These rockets are for tests to get people up to a further destination.

Blue Origin is Jeff Bezos' company, and that one is supposed to take a bunch of women in the next... I think Katy Perry's on there, right?

But has Blue Origin actually been in space or just circled the sky?

Technically, they have, but they're like the airplanes that just go to that, like, free swimming area. Heck no, do I want to be on that thing. But it's not that hot. Remember, the guy who did the base jump for Red Bull technically went into space, but he was just, like, on a hot air balloon.

I'm not doing it. Mm-mm. Okay, so all the Epstein stuff so far has been quite the dud to me, at least. I mean, we haven't really gotten much information. Yesterday, Attorney General Pam Bondi on with Hannity and announcing that the Epstein files will be redacted. And she's saying before you get disappointed, it is for good reason here.

Maybe some people don't understand the need to redact. In the case of a victim, that should be pretty obvious to people. What are the other things that maybe you'd have to redact?

well national security now of course national security some grand jury information which is always going to be confidential but we'll see let's let's look through them as as fast as we can get it out to the american people because the american people have a right to know we believe in transparency and it's going to come out and when we redact things sean what we're going to do is not just pull pages out like they used to do if something's redacted you will know the line and you will know why it's redacted.

Did anything ever come of all of the files that were handed over to the FBI a week ago today?

Not yet. I think these are the files they're talking about.

Yeah, yeah. Jennifer Lopez apparently not very happy with constantly seeing photos of her ex, Ben Affleck, and his ex, Jennifer Garner. The big story this week was that Ben wants Jen back, and she has completely friend-zoned him. She's in a relationship. She's happy. They have been spending a lot of time together co-parenting their three children, which is generating headlines and even, like I said, causing some speculation about Ben's feelings for his ex. But a source telling me that these photos are all over page six. The Daily Mail, Dumois, have been like salt in the wound for J-Lo. They just finalized her divorce a couple of weeks ago. So this situation is now completely messing with her head.

Do you think J-Lo's people are framing it this way to be like he stepped out on their marriage and that's why it failed?

Yeah, because I don't think that Ben and Jen Garner are doing anything different than they have been for the past couple of years. They've co-parented very well. They're very amicable. They're together all the time. She's helped him in a lot of his, like, low points with his various struggles with things. So, yeah. J-Lo needs to stop. Charlie XCX in talks to play the White Witch in Greta Gerwig's upcoming Chronicles of Narnia film for Netflix, which I did not even know she was happening, or this was happening. Remember, she is the director behind the Barbie movie. But Charli XCX, among the top choices for the role, she's been in talks for a while. Nothing has been signed or agreed upon just yet. Is Charli XCX an actor? I don't know that she's ever acted in anything. Producing this stuff. So she is in talks to be the White Witch. I don't know if she is in talks to contribute any sort of musical components to the movie, but her name is out there.

Do you think sometimes when you name yourself Charlie XCX and then you go into acting, you wish you would have used your real name?

I'm sure she will. It's like when Lady Gaga acts, she uses Stephanie Germanana.

Does she? Yeah. Because I always still see them listing her as Lady Gaga and stuff.

Because Grande is her mother. It's like a, it's on her mother's side, right? Interesting. And then, or it's a shortened version. I don't remember, but like she has a longer name that she uses in Wicked.

we have this event called dpd great what happened was our field recruiters were going out people were asking questions about the jobs and they were kind of nervous about asking police officers about how to become police officers and the field recruiters came with this idea like let's just give them a safe space to come and ask questions give them resources uh in addition to asking those questions like if they need help with tickets or if they have questions about court let's have all

this at one place so wait so people who want to be police officers may have like a ding in their traffic record or they may have something that has happened in the past or maybe they think

they're not physically fit enough to go through the program absolutely absolutely and they worry

that that could potentially keep them out of even in any kind of a job yep well let alone a police officer job so at this event that is going to be taking place on march the 11th it's going to be at fellowship chapel uh i'll give you a website in a little bit that gives you all the details or you can contact me here at the radio station. You guys will answer all those questions for everybody.

at a pretty good salary don't you oh yeah so so they start off in the academy at 48 right now But listen, $48,000, but that's, listen, that's just like for six months. They get a bump after they graduate. And then once they meet their year mark, they'll be at 62,000. Wow. But guess what? After four years. Okay. And with education, you could be up to 91 K.

the details about what's going to happen and honestly if you're somebody that's looking for a new career if you're somebody that is you know said to yourself hey you know what this is it i want to put the badge on uh or you want to do any of the other opportunities that the detroit police department has because you guys are hiring from top to bottom i mean that's yes did they ever announce a new police chief yet or no we still hiring i cannot is he officially the police chief official of that because if you does he need an assistant mojo you can try you got to come on the 15th can we get it can we get uh the chief in i would love to have the chief in sometime i think that's something ask him who is this beautiful lady who is this lady right here

oh wow that's a great question um i was 10 years old i went to the store with my dad uh he told me to go in to grab a verner's a pop and to come right back out i didn't i saw the candy sticks and started picking the kind of candies that I wanted, came out, and my dad was robbed. It was the first time I ever saw my father cry because the person who robbed him had a gun. He was with another guy, and the other guy was telling him to shoot my dad. And again, that was the first time I've ever seen my dad cry. We went to the police station, and the officer on the desk that took his report oh he was just not nice he was he treated my dad like crap and at that point I said I'm going to be a police officer and I'm going to treat people with dignity and respect

oh that story is an amazing story amen and uh did you ever come out with the candy I did unfortunately I love that story can I tell you why I love that story because I will say this to you as a white man i don't feel the same way that my black male friends feel and i have black black male friends i got being out and about and stuff and you see that they have to put their hoods down like they have to like they have to feel because they feel different they feel like they're targeted they feel you know totally different and i see you know wonderful african american police officers that are serving and protecting and i think it gives comfort also to the community too so i think that's awesome good for you i'm doing that and you know what 90k if i

You're getting paid to work out and get yelled at.

Okay, so when it started, there was 800 people in the live listening to the stream. And then she started commenting and it only got up to like 900. See, I never believed. And usually when a celebrity is in there, it'll get up to like 10,000 people.

I always feel like, I'm like Shannon on this one. I feel like there was, there's a hair in the butter there. Or there's like a promo person in the butter.

Our good friend Martin, I've for years was able to be honored to host their great event that they had every year. He would give me senators and, gosh, mayors and all these people. They had all the big people there, Debbie Dingle and Debbie Stabenaz and the governors and all these people would come out to these events. I knew all their names, and then he would give me all these other people's names, and he'd go, let me go up there and speak. You know, because I would, I mean, it wasn't, a lot of them were Chaldeans, but. Well, when you introduced me, you pronounced it Voino. Did I say it that way?

I'm very impressed.

Okay, well, you know what? Someone told him. What are you doing in studio? Tell me what's going on. What's the occasion?

Well, it's kind of interesting how this happened. my wife and I were at the auto show gala and we were looking at some of the cars and my wife whispered to me she said I think that's Shannon from Mojo in the morning standing next to you and I said how would you know that I mean she's on the radio she said I've seen pictures of her I think it's her so my wife went over to talk to uh Shannon and Shannon told us about your 25th anniversary coming up and my wife said well maybe you should do a tribute and then Shannon had said yeah let's do a tribute what mojo this is from you doing this and so my office contacted shannon and she compiled a lot of information lydia that was that i have to give all the that was lydia and yes um we wanted to uh present you with a state tribute uh celebrating your 25th uh anniversary on the uh oh my god that's awesome this is unreal and this this tribute doesn't encapsulate uh your entire life but uh look at how special it is the great things that you've done the uh charitable uh uh look at the signatures on the back of it or in that thing it's signed by myself state senator paul vuino the 10th district uh lieutenant governor garland gilchrist and the

governor of the state of michigan gretchen whitford wow that's unbelievable that's so cool this is unreal wow look at that mojo's 25th anniversary of mojo in the morning it's got it all there oh my god it even talks about the silly crap that we do on the show like the war of the roses the phone scams uh the dirty on the 30 the throwback throwdown second date updates can i tell you that this is honestly truly an honor do i have to pay my state taxes

We can wave it for you this year. We can wave it, yeah. Believe me, my tax guy will never let me do that. This is unbelievable. This is really an honor, and I thank you for what you do, and I thank you for, you know, I don't understand what you guys think of when you guys go into an occupation like that. they're nobody's in jail though my oldest just got her uh business degree and she's working for blue cross my son just got his cpa uh license and he's working for blue cross as well and my youngest will graduate from Oakland University here in a few weeks with her BSN. There's a lot of things happening with the radio station today with Lady Gaga. You can keep listening through the day. And then a week from tomorrow is Irish off Ionia, not on Ionia.
